Located across the street from the original Patriot Masonic structure that is now home to Odile's Fine Art, in Harwich Center, #Ruggies offers lots of items from which to choose, whether it's breakfast, lunch, sides &/or beverages. I chose a 'Build Your Own Three Egg Omelette', with grated Cheddar, broccoli & sauteed onions, one piece each of Cinnamon Raisin & Light Rye toast. The egg mixture was a bit thin; more milk than egg ratio, but the omelette ingredients, fresh! Ask for dry toast, if you don't want/like margarine, & ask Tiffany to fetch real butter, instead. I asked for a bit of the 'not-so-secret' spice blend used for other dishes, & was pleasantly surprised... not too spicy, just right, even w/tumeric ! Only a few people seated when I walked in, but within 10 minutes of sitting, all the tables were filled with locals... only a few bar stools remained open. Casual, homey, non-invasive interior, decorated in red tones... Burnt Sienna mixed with Red, Cran-Red curtains, fits well in w/the land of Cranberry bogs. Chris, "today's chef", manned the grill. Tiffany, front house mgr/server, gave me time to decide what piqued my taste buds, and then was prompt with coffee, honey, & breakfast! Sweet gal. Currently owned solely by Patrick 'Nick' Morey, Ruggies was created by Matt Rocco & himself, named after Matt's "grandfather, who played semi-pro football, back in the day". My new favorite breakfast spot on this side of the Cape. Quality food, great prices, and a bit of charm. My favorites were the chicken and biscuit and the apple crisp on top of French toast. The chicken was juicy and the biscuit was a nice crumbly texture perfect for dipping in the peppery gravy. All for $10! The apple crisp French toast was decadent but not overly sweet. The blueberry pancakes and breakfast potatoes were solid as well. The iced coffee was on the weaker side though. Wait was 20 min at lunch time for a table of 3. It is a bit tight inside though so not a great option for larger groups. Atmosphere was laid back and cozy.

Ruggie's Breakfast & Lunch is a diner that opened in Harwich, Massachusetts in March 2010. It was founded by longtime high school friends Nick Morey and Matt Rocco. The restaurant was named after Rocco's grandfather who was nicknamed 'Ruggie'. The eatery offers a wide selection of breakfast dishes including egg dishes, omelettes, waffles, pancakes, french toast, and breakfast sandwiches. They also offer a wide selection of various sandwiches for lunch. Ruggie's is also known for their legendary eating challenge, which includes six eggs, a pound of hash browns and cheese, pancakes, bacon, sausage, fried chicken and waffles. My wife and I have visited Ruggie's a number of times over the years. It's a great Cape Cod breakfast spot! Our most recent visit was last week. It was the first day of our week-long Cape Cod family vacation. We left our house super early to beat the tourist traffic. We arrived in Harwich not long after 9:00 AM and stopped at Ruggie's to get breakfast to go. My wife and I each ordered the Breakfast Nachos (seasoned home fries, tomato, bacon, melted cheddar and pepper jack cheese, jalapeños and sour cream) and we ordered some blueberry pancakes with a side of bacon for our son. We took our food to a nearby beach and had a delicious picnic breakfast. We were all very happy with our food choices. Ruggie's is a true Cape Cod gem and we will continue to visit on future trips.

Oh my word. Oh my goodness. I just LOVE this place. Been coming since about a year ago when the power got knocked out in a bad storm and we needed a place to get some eats. We were lucky enough to get here right as lunch began and had the most incredible chili. It was perfect on a freezing day. But the breakfast is always great. My fave of all time is the chicken and waffle. Out of CONTROL good and huge portion. The chicken dwarves the waffle with its slightly spicy goodness that legit warms the soul. Full till dinner type of meal and absolutely delicious - hard to leave any on the plate. They make everything from scratch including the wonderful gravy with buiscits. Omlettets, benedicts and sandwiches are all perfect. Not the best for large groups more than 5 as it is a bit of a hole in the wall but it is comfortable and clean . If you find yourself in Harwich early in the day, definitely make a trip here.

It was a nice time to visit, relaxed and not too crowded. We ordered a Caesar salad, steak tips, fried seafood platter (fresh cod, scallops, and clams with fries and coleslaw), clam chowder, and a kids' grilled cheese. Overall, the fried seafood platter was the standout and definitely the best way to sample a bit of everything. The fish, scallops, and clams were all fresh and nicely fried, and the portion was generous. The steak tips were also solid, tender and well-seasoned. The clam chowder was decent, though not especially memorable. The kids' grilled cheese was a bit overdone on the outside and came out slightly burnt, but otherwise was fine for a simple kid's meal. Service was friendly, and the atmosphere had that classic Cape Cod waterfront feel that makes it an easy, casual dining spot. We did notice quite a few tables ordering the lobster roll, which we'll probably try next time we visit since it seemed to be one of the more popular items. Overall, Brax Landing Restaurant is a solid, casual seafood spot with good variety, worth a visit, especially for the fried seafood platter.

This is a solid option for seafood and American food in Harwich Port. My girlfriend's family all ordered a seafood dish (scallops, lobster roll, and seafood platter) but I opted for a hamburger as I am not a huge seafood fan (ironic in Cape Cod). I took a bite of some of the seafood dishes and objectively can say they were pretty good! I was a fan of my girlfriend's lobster roll. My burger was standard, but it also came with Canadian bacon which I have never seen before on a burger. It was a good addition. Fries were very good as well. Service was great. They also have waterfront dining outside. Definitely a solid option for seafood.

Service was very attentive and informative, and food recommendations were spot on. The special salad of spinach, goat cheese, strawberries and tomatoes was divine - one of the best starter salads ever! Bone-in pork chop with asparagus and roasted potatoes was fantastic, as was the duck w risotto. Salmon was excellent. But the culinary "coup de grâce" was the sorbet!! Truly one of the best desserts ever!! Served with fresh berries and a large cookie. Overall, a great dining experience, albeit a bit on the expensive side. The bill, including tax/tip (and one cocktail ea.) was about $100 pp.

I also remember that, even though the waitress said it was her favorite as soon as I took a bite I could tell it was a dish I did not care for. I ate a few bites and left the rest. It was some kind of steak with a special preparation. I've looked at the restaurant menu but do not see it listed. It was a special for that evening. The restaurant had a nice Cape Cod feel to it, and it was crowded. There was a large party sitting near by and the acoustics being what they are, it was a little noisy but they left after a bit. The lighting was dim, but it was a pleasant evening and the service was great. They had a nice selection of wines. My friend had the Eggplant Vindaloo, which I had considered ordering and it was a huge serving. She took it back and ate it for several days. Another friend ordered and ate appetizers and loved the Maine Mussels Dijonnaise. I guess it was just my luck of the draw. I should have gone with my first idea and ordered the Eggplant. Or the Mussels. Despite being disappointed with my entree, it was a wonderful place to enjoy an evening with friends.
