Terrible experience. The hostess didn't put in our phone number correctly and didn't bother trying to find us just outside the front door, the coffee was terrible, the cooked the eggs wrong on each order, and two of us couldn't stay out of the bathroom shortly after Rupert's. read more

In town visiting and as expected there was quite a wait for Saturday brunch. We ended jp getting in way fast than expected. Friendly waitress and food was great. This is a sad review to write. Although we have had Rupert's as one of our regular spots for many years, it would seem they have lost their way. Went for breakfast on a Tuesday morning with family, pleasant staff as usual and most the food was good. However, I ordered eggs Benedict, and it was shocking. Because I was there with family members that don't complain, I held my tongue and ate it. Look, the problem was something that strikes me as beyond a one plate issue. The "poached" eggs were NOT poached eggs. These were either microwaved or the new supplier for Rupert's is selling them Mac Donald's Mcmuffin eggs.. these eggs were perfectly round, flat and hard.. imagine an egg McMuffin and you'll get it. Popped in early on a Monday before work - we were one of the only tables there. Our waitress forgot the quiche special and the kitchen (or waitress) forgot the side of my aunt's order. The food was good but nothing to write home about. We were able to order, finish our meal, and pay in less than an hour, which was convenient. The decor was cute and fun. Nice place for brunch. Though busy, they have a call ahead system in which you can check in and they send you a text when your table is ready. There is a dog friendly patio (our server brought a water bowl for our pup), the servers are attentive and the meals excellent and reasonably priced. The wait for weekend brunch can average 2 hours, so getting on the waitlist is a smart idea unless you plan to stroll around Sloans Lake across the street for a while. They have the greenhouse seating on the patio to help with social distancing. So you can opt for outdoor or indoor seating, depending on current restrictions. Both are pleasant options. Staff is always friendly. Bottomless mimosas are priced around $10 or $11 per person, or you can get a bottle for $16. I was thoroughly pleased with my dining experience at Ruperts. The food was scrumptious and for a good price. I appreciated the fact that they allow you order a side order of most of their pancakes and french toast (for example, excluding the banana nut bread french toast). This is fabulous for people like me who can't decide between a savory or sweet breakfast item. I ordered one of their french toast specials- french toast stuffed with a pumpkin cream cheese filling- WOW. It was absolutely delicious. I also had Rupert's Huevos Rancheros. This dish consists of roasted and seasoned tomatoes, green chilis, and onion, topped with pepper jack cheese and 2 eggs your way - garnished with New Mexican red chili sauce and green onions. We decided last minute today to come by for brunch. I am so stinkin' glad we did. They've renovated the inside since we were here last-- new decor, new furniture. It feels a little more spacious; the tables work better for the amount of service they do here. They have new menus, and I decided to try their huevos rancheros. OH. MY. GOODNESS. This was THE BEST dang huevos rancheros I've ever had in my life! The red chili/chunky salsa was something I was skeptical of when my plate came out, but the flavor was fantastic! I tried to go here once in on weekend and it was packed but through the week isn't as busy. The service was really good. Our food came out fast and our orders were correct. A few vegan options and they label what can be made vegan. They have vegan French toast. I got the scramble burrito made vegan because their green chili is vegan. Lets just say I consider brunch in Denver to be a bit of a varsity sport, finding a place your friends like, where's the bottomless mimosas (usually). Generally we don't branch out often, we did today and boy were we happy with the results! We collectively thought the transparency in seeing the wait list in a web browser (with time waited and time remaining) was a nice touch which it seems far too many restaurants don't keep you in the loop. For years Ruperts has been on my list of places to try, I'll admit I was initially turned off by the 60 minute wait, but our wait was less than expected, around 40 minutes and this place seriously delivers. I ordered the burrito and it was excellent, plenty of green chili and I was in love. My friend got the biscuits and gravy and he equally loved his brunch. Delicious and worth the wait, I was only upset about one thing. I called early at 8am to get a table at 11am, I figured that should be enough time especially with the wait time anywhere else, one should be prepared. I was told they couldn't take reservations by Kailie, but to call back at 10:30 for the 11am then stated to make sure to call at 10am just in case. I call back later and was told that they wouldn't have anything available until 11:30. I didn't get seated until 12:30 Food was amazing, stayed warm inside the greenhouses they provide for outside dining, the customer service was great. Food was so delicious!!! This was a regular style diner. The waitresses were very nice. The food took a little long to come but the food was pretty good. The mimosas were pretty good. The banana nut French toast, I can say it was delicious. The only complaint I can say is that they cut the strawberries with the same knife they cut the onions with which was annoying. This is such a nice summer spot! We headed here after a morning round of disc golf, and you can immediately tell this place is popular! There's a great view of Sloan's Lake from the patio. It was a hot day, but there were so many tables on the patio that had umbrellas for shade, and lots of dogs there to enjoy the shade as well! We had a 45 minute wait per the hostess, but there were plenty of benches for waiting on the patio, and our wait only ended up being about 20 minutes! The staff was very good at quickly clearing & cleaning tables. We sat at a not completely shaded table, and the staff helped me to move a chair so it was more shaded. They brought cold water with ice for our pup too! Our server was helpful, energetic, and friendly! We got iced vanilla lattes to start, and they came out so quickly! She was ready for us when we were hungry and ready to order - I got the veggie eggs benedict, and my husband ordered the Southwest benedict (per her recommendation)! It was amazing how fast the food came out - and how good it was with that fast of service! The hollandaise sauce was creamy & flavorful, and the potato cakes on the side were delicious! Despite that, we got their unique sounding Banana Nut Bread ($8.75) hrs dipped in French Toast batter. Very mediocre. Could not taste the French Toast batter and was more of a dry banana bread served with syrup and butter. The strawberries were very watery and not sweet but the candies walnuts were good. Their vegan French Toast ($6.75) was WAY better. The French Toast batter was delicious and enhanced the juicy softness of the brioche Toast. Our group of friends came to Denver for one of the girl's birthday trip. We decided to eat at Ruperts at the Edge for breakfast one of the mornings. We got here early (around 8am) and waited around 30 minutes for a group of 5. As it got later, the crowd waiting seemed to get larger. We got pretty lucky by coming here earlier in the morning. Their food was filling, heavy, but delicious. They have both gluten-free and vegan options. I tried the sweet potato hash and gluten-free apple cinnamon pancakes. I found Ruperts at the Edge on Yelp while in the area the other morning. It was cold, like 10F and a warm meal sounded great. My brother in I were cheerfully greeted as we entered the restaurant and you could immediately tell this was a local favorite. A hot pour of coffee and we were in business. After pursuing their menu I settled on a classic, chicken fried steak and eggs. My brother was a little more adventurous and ordered the Ruperts Huevos Rancheros. Our waitress was a sweet young lady that I enjoyed watching as she visited several other tables with older folks. She would sit down and have a nice chat and you could tell they really enjoyed being there. She delivered our food promptly and we dug in. Eggs were perfect, gravy not too bad but the biscuits and chicken fried steak seemed like a run of the mill food service prepared offering. Not really to my liking. My brother on the other hand really enjoyed his meal and it looked really nice when it was delivered. All that being said I think I need to return and try something else. Almost 5 stars, Rupert's serves up some serious breakfasts. Had the corned beef hash with a couple of eggs over easy onto which they drizzle some hollandaise sauce: Finger-lickin' good. Neat that the hash contains tasty chunks of corned beef instead of processed micro-particles of meat by-product. But if there's one interesting piece of information I can pass on to you (aside from a recommendation you try it out asap:), it would be to fill ya in on the origin of the name. Pre-2015 it was called The Edge (as in "Edgewater Grill"). A gentleman named Tim bought it and I'm told that Tim's wife had a favorite uncle named Rupert. Hence the origin of the name. Now, did Uncle Rupert provide any of the upfront money to rebrand the place? Are the most excellent recipes that the place uses gleaned from Uncle Rupert's personal collection? Or is Rupert simply a totally cool dude the owners wanted to honor with the eponym? Don't know.
