Ryan bros has always been one of my favorite places for coffee in SD. Their cold brews aren't bitter like normal cold brews & they have their cold brews on tap. The cold brew flight seems to be a new addition to the menu, highly recommend getting this if you've never tried their drinks! My all time favorite cold brew is the Mexican mocha & the trifecta (mix of Mexican mocha, French vanilla, & raceway espresso). read more

Always a good option for great coffee and a handful of delicious breakfast items, to go, on the way to work. They're open at 6am, and it's always quick in-n -out. Try the Farmer breakfast sandwich on a croissant. read more

The coffee here was delicious. I had a French Vanilla Latte, that was perfect! I also had avocado toast and a cheese Danish. They were fine, nothing special. Staff was ok, not too friendly. Definitely come for the coffee!! read more

The coffee beans are the best I have ever found. The customer care is just as good. I drove from Alpine to get Espresso Gold beans at 3:00 in the afternoon. When I arrived, there were no bags on the shelf. The owner came out to let me know that if I could just wait a few minutes, they would get my order ready and he even apologized for the very brief wait. Since I was waiting, I ordered their most popular drink, a Mexican Mocha. There is not much angst or sadness that a Ryan Bros Mexican Mocha will not wash away, so good! Driving back to Alpine, the smell of the beans in my car just topped it all off. I love this company! read more

It was time for our weekly growler refill. Didn't realize that they closed at 4:00pm. Raul is awesome! He was locking up and saw us pull up and let us in. Paula was great, she rang us up while Raul filled our growler. We were in an out 2 minutes. He could've easily said sorry guys we are closed and we would have been fine with it and returned back in the morning. He went above and beyond. We really appreciate it. read more

Great service and options on different blends. Good options for non dairy milk options. Great areas for sitting and doing work. I had a Mexican mocha and it was perfect. Parking wasn't the best but overall great coffee! read more

Most coffee aficionados prefer a light to medium roast so they can taste all the nuances of a single origin. But i prefer the deep flavor of a dark roast. I was reading up on reviews of Ryan Brothers, Cowboy Coffee, and decided to pick some up. Because i usually by a darker roast, i know that the darker the roast, the more oily the beans are. These were the oiliest beans I've ever seen, (i mean that in a good way) it looked like they dipped them in oil then put them into the bag! I brewed it as espresso and also thru an aero press, both very good and the name Cowboy Coffee is perfect! It has a really robust flavor and mild bitterness and acidity. If you like dark roast, Cowboy Coffee is one that will surely win you over. They also have lighter roast and single origin for sale as well as a variety of cold brew on nitro on tap. I'll be back to try some of their other coffees too. read more

The coffee was good the atmosphere was nice as well. I was a little disappointed to know that the artsy flights they had are gone and the glass sizes are much smaller. I've had Ryan bros coffee before and it was such a treat!! It's interior is homey, it's coffees pack a punch, with subtle, nuanced flavors that come together to tickle the taste buds. Make sure to check the opening hours before going. I showed up for my second visit to this Barrio Logan spot and it was all boarded up, I arrived after the 4pm closing unfortunately. Sad I didn't check before, but looking forward to my next visit, such a unique coffee spot that excels in delicious coffee!!! read more

We went on the Caffeine Crawl this morning. Our first stop is Ryan Bros Coffee. The experience was amazing, Tom gave us a full instruction of Coffee bean roasting. We got to know about their process and how they produced their roasted beans. We also tried their green coffee which was pretty impressive. It tasted like mint green tea. If you come to try their drinks, you can check if they have the green coffee in the store. read more

The staff here is friendly and I love the aesthetics of this place alot! I ended up getting a vanilla latte that was on tap. I usually get sugar free vanilla in my vanilla lattes but since this was on tap, it wasn't possible. To my surprise, it wasn't sweet at all! The coffee was super smooth and after every sip, I kept wanting to drink more. I also ordered a chocolate chip cookie. And while it wasn't anything that extraordinary, it did taste like homemade cookies, which is good. Will def come back to try other drinks. read more

Ryan Bros is one of the San Diego institutions that everyone needs to come to at least once or twice a month. The space is warm and inviting, and the staff is always friendly. This trip I needed coffee. I wanted to get the Brazil but they were out and the friendly young man suggested the Indonesian and it's really good! I also get one of my favorites, Old Town Mexicano. Both offer a really smooth taste without that bitterness that some of the new local roasters have. They will even grind it for you if you ask! Definitely worth checking out! read more

Ryan Bros is open for takeout! They are located at the corner of Main and Cesar Chavez Pkwy. There is street parking and a few 15 minutes only spots right in front. Staff is friendly, patient, and knowledgeable about the products. They have so many Nitro Brew and non dairy options! I didn't know what to order because there are so many options. I explained to the employees what I typically order and they recommended the dirty chai latte. The Dirty Chai Latte is DELICIOUS and they steamed it for me. Perfect for a cool winter morning. I went inside to grab my coffee to go and Ryan Bros interior is clean and adorable. Can't wait to indoor dine when it's offered again. read more

For the coffee and tea selection and taste alone I'll give this place a 3 stars. It also has seating both inside and out that give you a spectacular view of the coastline. It has a fun surfing theme with surf board shaped tables and tiki decor. Our drinks came out relatively quick and there never was a rush for us to leave. We could chat and enjoy the views at our leisure. Where this place lost stars was in the cleanliness of the tables and bathrooms. We had to clean off our own table from the crumbs and sticky residue left behind from prior guests. We tried three tables before deciding to do so and each table with the same, in various states of a mess. And never once during our time there did someone come out to clean. The same can be said for the bathrooms; they weren't very tidy at all. If it were just wiped down from time to time, I'd give it a 4 stars. read more

Walking in, no Clue of what a well designed establishment in the heart of San Diego, I felt the energy from the aroma of fresh Arabica beans and the roast from the smooth purr of the machines and fluidity of its employees/ Craftsmen. This place was okay, nothing special and I wasn't too impressed. There is street parking available, which can be hard to find. There is indoor seating and the inside is spacious and nice. There is coffee, growlers for cold brew, cups, mugs, food, pastries, a variety of coffee and cold brew options available. I ordered the Hawaiian latte, and let me just say it tasted like old burnt milk or espresso. It had no flavor aside of the old burned taste that was overpowering to enjoy. Left my stomach feeling upset, and my wallet $6 bucks short. Money down the drain. Had I tasted it before I drove away I would have exchanged it. On the up side, the avocado toast was decent, but you can't really mess that up. I purchased a growler for $6, and had it filled with their Mexican mocha cold brew. Their cold brew was good and I have a growler to enjoy for a few days. Prices were average and the female helping me was helpful and friendly. Overall, this place was average and I don't see driving out here for some coffee with other options in my area. read more

What an amazing experience from the ambiance to the service to the taste of the coffee! Really glad I got to safely stop by the store and pick up a large Mexican Mocha to enjoy in the safety of my car. The service was fast, and they were really invested in learning and understand my likes and preferences so they could give an appropriate recommendation! I definitely think they hit it on the mark because the Mexican Mocha coffee was something I'd never had before but it wasn't extremely bitter nor extremely sweet. I chose not to get the whip cream on top, but it would've definitely been a delicious treat had I been craving something sweeter! Would highly recommend going to Ryan brothers. The location is perfect and walkable to see the murals underneath the Coronado bridge. The ambiance inside the clean store was awesome - really loved seeing the paraphernalia and loved the different design as compared to the run of the mill coffee shops. Will definitely be back!!! Ok, continuing for the rest of the year :) I recently took TallGirl. Cuz I wanted some authentic small business local roasted coffee. This place is it!! Great multi generational business. I came in and got my standard mocha. One thing I love is how many choices chocolate you can base your mocha off of. TallGirl got a French Vanilla Latte. Since she was hungry, I picked out a snack from the case. She said anything.... so I got her the most amazing looking looking apple danish. I mean they all looked good. I woulda gone with cheese danish, but I was shopping for her. From previous experience I know the cheese is fantastic too. Ps - Apple danish total hit!! The customer service is spot on, they are alwys super nice. I love the tea selection. This is another one of the spots I looooove so much, but, almost don't like writing about. Good luck with your business, but I won't be coming back. This was supposed to be a quick coffee stop before work, but the lack of staff training and common sense ruined the experience. I arrived at 7:20 and found a couple sampling all the coffees and asking endless "curious" questions while I waited for service. I had to interrupt and ask for assistance, only to wait longer and receive a wrong and incomplete order. read more

Visited this place today for the first time since I am looking for coffee roasters to buy fresh beans on a regular basis. We ordered a cappuccino and an espresso shot. The espresso shot tasted and looked like filtered coffee. It had no crema or body to it. It tasted flat and watery. The milk in the cappuccino tasted weird. We threw out both drinks. A coffee roaster that can't make espresso? Come on guys. Although the coffee sucked, the employees were friendly and welcoming. I attached a picture of the espresso shot fresh from the machine. Looking at their coffee setup, it looks like they may use the same beans for espresso and filter. I would not recommend. Better options out there. read more

Coffee places been nothing but amazing no matter what time of the day I go! Has a very homey feel to it has a pretty good amount of sitting indoors very well laid out gives you a very café restaurant And the staff is always friendly My go to for iced coffee in the trifecta and very flavorful yet get the job done and isn't over flavored or sweetened like other places trying to hide the taste of coffee. They have a great breakfast/brunch menu depending on what time you're there but it's always acceptable for breakfast food. They have a burrito Mexicano made of flavor filled just the right amount of spice Chorizo paired with eggs and potatoes seasoned to perfection wrapped in a perfect flour tortilla! Please make a stop here and you will not be disappointed definitely a must visit! read more

Went in this morning for my guilty pleasure, coffee! The music was great this morning, but the only downfall is that their kitchen has been closed a few times, I live all the way in Otay Ranch and always make the drive but it's disappointing when its closed. Today, I was rushing to get there on time to get breakfast but the breakfast portion of the menu was already gone and it was only 10:53 am. The barista's are AMAZING, they quickly cheered me up and apologized. Today it was a girl with glasses who was very sweet and made great conversation with me and a girl with reddish hair, she made the most amazing coffee ever. I accidentally ordered the wrong milk and realized that after she had already made the drink, I felt so bad but she was so understanding and remade the entire drink for me and was so nice about it. Overall a great experience but definitely won't be getting food from them anymore, sometimes the kitchen is closed and sometimes it's open, don't take the chance if you're really hungry. If you want some really good coffee ask for the girl with the red hair!!!! read more

I came in at 10 o'clock in the morning. It's a wonderful coffee shop. I spoke to Raulla family member. He recommended to me green bean coffee. Which has a lot of caffeine. It can be enjoyed hot or cold. It's green and is infused with peppermint. Here they have many other drinks hot and cold that you can purchase. They have pastries also. I don't go out for coffee very often (I'm way to rushed In the morning)...but sometimes I love an afternoon coffee. I was super impressed with Ryan Bros! Mrs. Ryan personally greeted me and we had a nice chat about her son's and her dogs! I ordered a Caramel Latte (YUM!!) I also got a hot cocoa for my son (OMG!!) ...tasted a LOT like Abuelita (which is a really good thing) Mrs. Ryan gave me a chocolate chip cookie for my son (so sweet!) Went here over the weekend with my boyfriend. I had seen a friend post about their coffee so I decided to try it out. The set up of the place is so cute you enter on one side they have their coffee which they sale out on display so it's just very eye pleasing to see. The girl at the register was very quick to welcome us and help us with our choices. I tired their French Vanilla Latte and the El Barrio Sandwich. The food came out wrapped in brown paper bags, I found this a little strange since we were dining in but apparently that's just how they give their food. That had no affect on the food though it was actually a pretty decent sandwich really good flavor! The French Vanilla Latte was AMAZING! I think definitely one of the BEST coffees I've ever had it's was just so smooth no bitterness or sourness just perfect and the French vanilla had no syrupy taste just pure deliciousness. My boyfriend tried their chorizo burrito and was pleasantly surprised with how good it tasted. He also tried their trifecta latte as recommended by the cashier and he loved it! Would definitely recommend and we will be back Just took one picture as we ate and drank our coffees too quick because of how good everything was read more

Wow.. just wow! This is the cutest little coffee roaster cafe in all of downtown San Diego.. and yes, they roast their own coffee! Rachel behind the counter is the sweetest barista, and will help you navigate their menu so that you choose the perfect handcrafted drink. I inquired about their cold brew and Rachel explained they have a very sophisticated draft system that allows them to pour (cold and hot) cold brew from the tap! I tried their seasonal peppermint cold brew which is delicious and sweet if you're looking for a nice festive drink to give you some holiday cheer. Their pastry selection was very impressive as well- I tried their cinnamon coffee cake (so good!) freshly baked and full of cinnamon and sugar goodness! The decor and tables definitely gives you an old school Italian neighborhood vibe with Italian markets right next door. They had a nice condiment bar where you could pick out some yogurt with dill sauce and then they're famous garlic yogurt sauce, as well as a jalapeño sauce And another spicy hot one that I would never try. When I got back to the jury room to eat my meal, I saw that there was a nice quantity of the fresh salad and the grilled vegetables but the meat was piled high! The bread was too dry and super messy because it was so dry. The rest of the sandwich was okay. The tuna was bland tasting as it did not seem like it was seasoned. The veggies on it were the only thing that made the sandwich decent tasting. It was nothing to write home about or drive out of my area to try it . I was hungry and paid so I had to eat it. Although, I threw away the other half of it . It was not horrible, but it was not tasty either. The service was good and they had plenty of tables to sit down inside. But, I also noticed the tables were not being wiped down and under the tables there were food crumbs all over. Luckily, I had my trusty sanitizer for the table. The fact no one was cleaning as it needed to be done was a turn off. Restaurants and places of businesses need to take it serious and keep it clean everywhere so no one gets sick. Lastly, keep in mind when you arrive at this place, you have to pay the City of San Diego parking which I paid 2.50 extra just to come here .

The service never felt rushed even though we came close to close. I also had no idea we walked in during their "US Hour" from 12:00 to 2:30, so that ended up being a nice surprise. They offer $7 draft beers, $9 wine, $10 mimosas, plus a handful of bites for $9. We started with the Fried Calamari Tentacles from the US Hour menu. They're served with Japanese mayo, although it tasted like there was some citrus mixed in because it had a nice tangy kick. Whatever it was, it worked really well with the crispy calamari. To drink, I ordered the Yuzu Matcha Mimosa. It had a really vibrant green color that almost reminded me of green juice. I actually enjoyed it. The matcha flavor came through without getting lost. My friend wasn't the biggest fan because they thought it leaned a little too bitter, so I think this one depends on how much you already enjoy matcha. For my entree, I ordered the Duck and Waffles ($24), which comes with crispy duck confit, a waffle, passionfruit guava sauce, and chili crunch. This was easily the highlight of the meal. The duck was cooked perfectly. It was crispy on the outside, tender inside, and seasoned just enough to let the meat shine. I also appreciated that the chili crunch actually had some heat instead of just being there for texture. The waffle was light and fluffy. I'm a sucker for sweet and savory combinations, so the powdered sugar paired with the rich duck was enough to win me over. The passionfruit guava sauce was the only part I wasn't completely sold on. It wasn't bad by any means. I just think it's one of those flavors that comes down to personal preference. This ended up being one of those meals that reminded me why I keep a running list of places I want to try. Great food. Great service. A fun happy hour that I accidentally stumbled into. My only wish is that parking in North Park was a little easier, but that's just part of the neighborhood. I'd definitely come back.

A cute local coffe house with a fun and whimsical decor. The coffee is good and the staff is funky and nice. I ordered an espresso which I believe is the best way to coffee houses true brew. I'd say it's in the top 10 in San Diego for quality and ambiance. Finding a parking spot might be difficult since it is located in downtown San Diego. Yelp Now that I have been yelping for a while, I realize what a cool application this really is. Yelp has become my "go to" site whenever I go to new city around the world. I've also been able to communicate with yelp friends from around the world whenever I travel to a new city in order to get advice of where to eat and also for business information. Yelp is also a great way to keep track of your past experiences and it has become a digital record of where I have been and how much I enjoyed those locations. Yelp is also really great place to connect with people in your own town to see what is going on and what is fun and which restaurants are new and exciting. I am a fan of you guys even tho the last time I walked in there had a horrible sassy barista girl be super snarky, rude and just impolite to me for asking about what food they had, they must have been ready to close but noticed they still had 2 or 3 customers, asked about maybe getting a bagel, I was just hungry, had a bad day, worked a 12 hour shift and needed some food but left feeling like putting a gun to my head because of one really rude baristas attitude. I get it, you pre closed your cafe earlier to get out on time, I have been there, I've worked for Starbucks for 8 years of my life. I know some customers ask for some random weird stuff that can be annoying. That attitude you gave me is not just rude, but just bad for business. I will only come back here if she is not working. I just wanted to let anybody cruising the border know that caffeeeen like this is hard to find. The "brothers" I suppose that's who owns them has a very excellent way of making light roast Mexican altura coffee that is super smooth and non-bitter, but more jibby than the typical caffeine you get from the bean charbroiler places in every supermarket. Awesome local family owned. Hence the name. I love the the coffee and I grab a bagel as well. I buy the coffee beans to make coffee at home. I love that they don't burn the beans during roasting unlike a certain brand that has made that their signature. You can actually taste the coffee. Great place for good coffee. The only thing you have to know is that it takes forever for a cup. I know they make everything as ordered but the are usually short staffed, and the staff that is there, really move s.l.o.w...... It's frustrating if you want a quick cup of java. The BEST COFFEE I've ever had. I absolutely love this place. Their cowboy coffee is amazing. They actually hand brew each individual cup in front of you. The place is cool to hang out but not for real coffee lovers. Their coffee is pretty mediocre. They do light roasts, but they use bitter beans so they coffee comes out pretty meh. It is drinkable in a pinch but not at all enjoyable. read more

By the time I reached the front, the owner (I'm assuming) a woman with glasses and long black hair spoke to me in a passive-aggressive tone and told me the line was actually on the other side. Given the setup, it wasn't obvious at all. There's a fence directly in front of the shop, and with the large crowds that day, it was even more chaotic. I tried to be understanding and moved to the correct spot, but while I was waiting for my drink, she repeated the same interaction with several other customers in the same tone. People were clearly confused, walking around the fence trying to figure things out, and without any guidance, I saw multiple customers leave frustrated. Customer service, especially from the owner, was disappointing and could definitely be improved particularly during busy events when clear communication matters most. That said, I'll give credit where it's due: the drinks were great. I'd rate my banana coffee a solid 4.5/5, it was delicious, and the heart-shaped straw was a really cute touch. If you're running a business, especially in a high-traffic setting, better organization and customer service would make a huge difference.

The flights come out in metal racks that were intended as candle holders. Creative use. I chose the ESPRESSO LATTE FLIGHT: The wife got the MATCHA FLIGHT with the same fruits. We sipped each other's flight for fun to share thoughts.
