I had been here previously for dinner and enjoyed trying out brunch! To drink: 〰 Watermelon Lemonade: Watermelon, fresh lemon juice, organic simple syrup. This was delicious! I would get this again. 〰 Raspberry Hibiscus Antioxidant Tea: Hibiscus, elderberry, black currant & cranberry pomace, rooibos, passionfruit, orange peel. This was ok but I probably wouldn't get again. Personally, I was looking for a little more sweetness in the drink. To eat: 〰 Huevos Rancheros: Corn tortillas (3), cowboy beans, runny eggs, cashew romesco sauce, pico de gallo, feta. This was ok but not the best Huevos Rancheros that I've had. I found myself wishing there was more sauce or creaminess (like avocado). I ordered the eggs over hard, so if you ordered it over easy it may help the dish feel less dry. Unfortunately, the dish came out with the eggs over easy, so we had to wait an additional ~15 minutes for it be remade after the other food had been brought out and eaten. 〰 Breakfast Sandwich: Folded organic free-range eggs, gouda, spicy pepper jam, pickled onion, arugula, dijonnaise, ciabatta; side spring salad. This was pretty good! The spicy pepper jam was an interesting addition. The dressing on the salad was a little too vinegar forward- I would probably ask for a different dressing if I got the side salad again. 〰 Hash: Potatoes, caramelized onions, peppers. I found myself wishing there was more seasoning on them- whether it be salt, pepper, or herbs. Love the bright, clean space. I love that they use fresh, organic ingredients- our waitress informed us that SŌW stands for sustainable, organic wellness. I would rate this meal an overall 4.5 if that was an option. read more

Um yum! I cannot wait to go back! The pineapple cocktail was delish! It wasn't overly sweet, it packed a punch & was perfect with dinner! The menu clearly labels everything that is gluten free, vegetarian & vegan! Helpful for us folks with celiac. The wagyu burger was cooked to medium perfection as requested! The house made chips had an awesome seasoning that I can't put my finger on but seemed to be a dash of cinnamon! My partner got the filet sandwich & it was delicious! SŌW Plated is a new favorite of mine in the Columbus area. This restaurant is all the things I love: sustainable food practices, plant-based meals, a beautiful ambience and environment and friendly, attentive staff. I was so pleased with my initial experience (in July 2020 to celebrate my birthday) that I recently returned and ordered all the same things. I started with their Cold-Pressed Pineapple Cocktail (which was $2 off, at $10, for happy hour). The drink is smooth, refreshing, light and flavorful. The pineapple garnish was so fresh tasting and overall the drink is a fantastic one (not overly strong on the alcohol). My entree was their harvest salad with added salmon on top. The salad itself is perfect, with so many elements, you will be more than full without adding anything else. It comes with roasted sweet potatoes, goat cheese, avocado, apples and walnuts over marinated kale and arugula. The result is a flavorful blend of wholesome, fresh ingredients. Now, the salmon itself is a must add. Sources from the Faroe Islands (and better tasting than most salmon I've had elsewhere). The farm raised fish are top quality (no antibiotics and free to enjoy the cold North Atlantic waters). I was informed of the Faroe Island salmon background (and overall tie to Southern California cuisine and culture) by the owner. He greeted us and stayed to chat (also returning at the end of our meal to make sure we didn't need anything else and hand off his business card). Really enjoyed speaking with him about his vision for this restaurant in the Columbus food scene. As a Columbus native, living in LA, this is just the kind of restaurant we need more of! 100% will return. read more

Seriously, one of the best meals I've had in such a long time. The cold pressed cocktails were magnificent, so refreshing and full of flavor, very unique and proof that you don't need a lot of ingredients to be yummy. That's true for the food as well, we got two starters, the maple sweet chili cauliflower was so good, the sweet potatoes and cauliflower were cooked perfect. This place has amazing food!! It is so fresh and tasty. Vegetarian, gluten free and carnivores alike will all find something delicious here. I tried the following and they have tasted amazing: Brussels sprouts, chili cauliflower, harvest salad, beet salad, maple kale salad, Oishii Shrimp, Thai Noodle, Pesto Pasta, Banana Mango Chia Seed Pudding (not my favorite), the Goji Berry Coconut Ice Cream (very good), and the Flourless Cacao Cake (DELICIOUS!!!) The portions were extremely small and I got a reply saying they are weighted. Id like to start off by saying I absolutely loved this restaurant before this incident and I am not one to go out of my way to leave a bad review, but it would be a disservice to not say anything about what I just went through with this restaurant. I made a reservation for a party of 4 for Sunday mothers day evening, I had to make changes to the party size up to 6 and they could not accommodate for that size so I had to cancel on THURSDAY of that week, giving them 4 days to fill the table. I was then charged $150 and sent a $145 sow plated gift card through email. When I was on the phone cancelling due to the inability to accommodate my party, I was not told I would be charged $150 because of it. Considering i'm a college student with very little income that made this reservation on behalf of my family, I called the restaurant expecting to get the situation sorted out in SOME kind of way. I talked to three different people, a host and two managers, not a single one cared to help me whatsoever and made no effort to fix the situation. I explained my situation three times and each time I was told there was absolutely nothing they would do about it. I truly don't understand the need to charge a cancellation fee at all when they had four days to fill the spot with a high demand because of the holiday. The amount of money may not seem like a lot to many, but this was a large financial burden for me and I am SO disappointed with the way management handled it. read more

Sow is an elegant restaurant in Upper Arlington that serves up a large international menu. The have an Asian focus, but you can still find classics like salad and burgers. I went for a raspberry hibiscus iced tea and it was good. We started with a Japanese pepper appetizer and it was tasty and well seasoned. I ordered the Pad Thai with chicken as my entree, and it was also excellent. The noodles were perfect and the sauce was tasty and well balanced. They served it with a stalk of bok choy and not too many other vegetables so it would've been nice to cut it into smaller pieces. The chicken was juicy and flavorful. My only complaint was the speed of service. We stopped by for lunch and it took a while to get water and our drink order. The appetizer followed after 40 minutes of waiting and the entrees another 40 minutes after we had finished the appetizer. What should've been a quick lunch ended up taking 2 hours. Our server had apparently placed "a hold" on our entrees for an unknown reason as the kitchen didn't start cooking our entrees until they cleared the appetizer plate. A lot of people love the juices and the drinks made with them but I did not like the one I got (I think it was a watermelon something other, but what quite bitter). Attended a shower here another time and was not impressed with service. Very inconsistent. After two trips to Sow Plated, I am now a big fan. Their meals are unique, but enjoyable to someone who doesn't need fancy stuff. The wine list has been great. Service is friendly and personable. This place is awesome! We arrived around 1230 on a weekday and was seated right away. We sat in a half booth table. They do need a few two seaters in here. Anyway... great hostess with a smile. Everything was in a prisitine clean manner. Very elegant inside and plenty of room to feel not crowded. I had a white wine and the table water came in a glass pitcher at room temp. Perfect! We shared the Kale salad. My friend being GF loved it here. She and I had the Chicken caprese sandwich and hers came with a GF bun. We also shared the delicious non dairy, no flour chocolate cake... Cute place with a modern vibe, lots of healthy offerings. We loved the hummus appetizer. It was delicious with all the Mediterranean toppings. The Waygu burger was very tasty. I got the Phad Thai - which was good but not as good as most Thai places (wouldn't get it again). We shared the flourless cacao cake, which was tasty as well. The big bummer was the service. It was very "mid" as my daughter would say. When we first got there, you have to get the menu off a QR code and the wifi is terrible. It took a while to connect to the in house wifi then navigate the menu for what we wanted. Every time our server offered us a "minute" to look, she'd come back a full 10 minutes later, taking orders from tables right by ours when we were clearly not looking at the menu then not even looking over to see if we were ready. This happened a couple of times. Then at the end she's like "ready to pay?" and shoved a machine in my face. So I'm supposed to look at the bill, select a tip (20% was the lowest and she was MIA most of the night) with her standing right there, which was uncomfortable. When we needed a bag for our leftovers, she was nowhere to be found. There were other people working that were impossible to connect with. The lackluster service just dampened the experience. We have been to this restaurant on a few occasions and had good food and service. So since our experience was good, we recommended it for our group of 10. We ordered drinks upon sitting down and appetizers.Appetizers came and no drinks. We ordered our food and we were told the drinks were coming. Food came, no drinks. We finally had to ask for the manager and were told our drink order was lost. They reordered them and comped them, but they came incorrect and after our food. The meals were overall average. The filet was cold, flat and over cooked. The bowls ordered were good. Sandwiches were good. But everyone said it wasn't much food. We were headed to a concert and after spending $400 (even with our "free" drinks) still spent $100 on snacks at the concert. Very disappointing. Wouldn't recommend it for a group. read more

2020 is the year to try something new and get in touch with your healthy side. That was the phrase running through my mind when one of my friends asked me to meet them here for lunch. Ever down for a new experience, I OBVIOUSLY agreed. After pulling up the menu on their website and seeing some of the pictures INSTANTLY felt I had committed to something that I would regret. NOTHING on the menu seemed to be up my alley at all. But that negativity was 2019 Darryl! So, swallowing that pill, I took the trip over. Walking into the restaurant was literally refreshing. The crispness of the the light color awash in sunlight from every window was the first of many shocks to my system setting me up for the joy to come. I had the consummate server who walked us through the specials of the day and truly made me feel like I was dining in a posh exclusive Beverly Hills spot and not in the middle of Central Ohio! Though I wasn't too hungry, I got the soup of the day, a tomato bisque. Superb! I accompanied that with an incredibly unique jalapeño margarita. And to top it off, the berry cobbler... We ended up here while driving through Columbus. Our directions made it look like we were going to Whole Foods but we were pleased to find this restaurant is not actually inside Whole Foods. This place has that trendy, clean, contemporary look. White and bright. You've probably been somewhere similar before. I had a Mediterranean bowl. He had the Sow burger. Mine was delicious. The tofu was fresh and possibly housemaid? Some of the best tofu I've had. He was unimpressed with his. We have the Yuzu pie. It was like a coconut jello pie. It was okay to try but nothing I need to eat again. The service was acceptable and polite but it took a very long time to get that pie and our check. And the place was really empty. We could see the servers hanging out in the kitchen area. Overall not bad. Especially with how thorough the menu is for special diets, but I don't imagine we'll come here again. read more

The good: The margarita; servers were friendly The bad: Service was so extremely slow - took an hour for our food to come out and the appetizer was served at the same time after initially being forgotten (they did comp it, which was something). Had to ask for more water. Never a good sign. I went with two friends and none of us liked our food - mine was probably the best - Mediterranean bowl with added chicken ($7!!!! For the chicken!!!) but the whole meal was cold and the chicken was burnt and dry. My friend thought the vegan burger was nearly inedible and the chicken caprese sandwich had the same dry, cold chicken problem. The appetizer- cauliflower and sweet potatoes- was okay but the bigger potatoes were raw. So, not great! Pretty expensive. Would not return. You'll leave feeling full but happy with your dietary decisions. The space offers a large interior, long bar, open concept kitchen and large outdoor space with heaters and fans. The beverage options are especially impressive- from made in house kombucha including flavors like pomegranate and peach blossom to a fresh squeeze juice menu, variety of wines and fresh juice cocktails. I especially loved my watermelon, rhubarb bitters and Makers Mark cocktail with a salted rim. On to appetizers! We opted for the breads and dips sampler featuring a pimento cashew butter, kale avocado dip and hummus alongside pita and crostinis. Because sharing is caring, my dinner companion and I shared both the vegan tofu pad Thai bowl and the pesto pasta with truffle ricotta. I preferred the lighter approach of the pad Thai of the two. I CANNOT BELIEVE how much we loved SŌW Plated!!! It was Awesome. Delicious. Wonderful. (please read on...) This all started when my wife said randomly "hey honey - I heard there's a new healthy restaurant at Lane Avenue Shopping Center. It's all vegetarian, or vegan, or something - I'm not sure but at least they have a lot of vegetables and EVERYTHING WILL BE GOOD FOR YOU..." Oh, goodie. Color me... not so excited. Don't get me wrong - I like vegetables. And I'm in favor of healthy. But I also like flavor. And I like meat - I like properly cooked and seasoned animal proteins - a lot. Because I like meat - a lot, going to an all-healthy, all-vegetable restaurant wouldn't be my first choice. Heck, it wouldn't normally be in my first 30 choices. But, being a happily married man who is fortunate to be married to a very good woman who I want to stay happily married with, I said "sure honey, that sounds great" and off we went. First impression - wow - this restaurant is absolutely gorgeous! What a beautiful design! This place is huge and someone spent a fortune... Second impression - wow - fast, attentive, friendly service. We were seated within 60 seconds, on the beautiful patio, and a server stopped by to say hello, bring water, and get a drink order very promptly. Third impression - wow - these alcoholic drinks (named things like "Cucumber", and "Watermelon") actually sound good. I could drink most of these... actually any of these... If you don't want their themed drinks, like cucumber and gin, they have a full bar. And a nice wine list, too. Fourth impression - our server Alejandra is great. Friendly, knowledgeable, willing to guide you around their (totally new to me) menu, willing to tell you what's great and what she doesn't recommend (I appreciate a server that will steer you away from something they don't like, as long as I don't suspect they're steering toward high-priced stuff - she wasn't). So with Alejandra's recommendation we ordered a Cucumber drink, a Watermelon drink, a roasted Shishido peppers appetizer, a small beet salad, vegetable Pesto (made with pasta, lots of vegetables, and ground pumpkin seeds), and a Wagyu Beef Burger. SCORE - SOW ain't all vegetables! They had chicken, and two kinds of fish, and a Wagyu Beef Burger...! And she said they literally know the Wagyu farmer - he worked with OSU to figure out how to raise Wagyu cattle. His farm is near Dayton, but he comes into the restaurant all the time. Fifth impression - these drinks are delicious. Bring us another round before the Shishido peppers come out so we'll have something to quench the fire if we get a hot one. Sixth impression - wow - wow, these Shishido peppers are really delicious. Seventh impression (the entrees came out) - OMG, I can't believe there's a gorgeous Wagyu Beef Burger sitting in front of me and instead I'm reaching across the table to fork a bite of my wife's vegetable Pesto pasta, but the pasta looks so good and smells so good the burger can wait... Eighth and ninth impressions - OMG, this Pesto pasta is incredible. After that, OMG, this Wagyu Beef Burger is just as incredible. We agreed we'll both crave both entrees until we return - when can we return...?!? So that was our meal - 3 healthy-themed drinks with alcohol shared between us, Shishido peppers, a small beet salad, Pesto pasta, and Wagyu beef burger. Every single thing was awesome. We agreed we would come back and would gladly order the exact same things. But we also want to try the rest of the menu - this is a "dartboard menu" for me - I'd eat anything on the menu, so you could throw a dart to order. We both HIGHLY RECOMMEND SŌW Plated. The menu is vast as well with many options- something for everyone. Prices are a bit steep, but if the flavors and quality is there i think it's worth it. I had the poke bowl.
