    Rice Bowl
    Samantha J.

Comforting, tasty, and fast! Everything is packed with flavor and the portions are great. I'd always recommend this over chipotle for someone who wants a hearty rice bowl. I also love their choice of salads! There are so many bowl variations, but chicken with roasted cauliflower is my favorite.

BYO bowl with Sabik (fried eggplant), roasted cauliflower, quinoa tabouli, Israeli salad with a side of pita. The pita was so soft and fluffy. I would definitely heat this up if I could. The eggplant was a little oily but the Israeli salad balanced it out. The cauliflower and the quinoa tabouli were okay.

Big portions and tasty food! Reasonably priced for the area and with so many offices around this is a well frequented spot. Stop in for tasty med food.

Service: this restaurant seems family owned, and they were super welcoming and nice to us. They accommodated any of our requests and were very helpful. Ambiance: the inside seating is rather limited, but the interior has been decorated very simple and nice. It's located at a busy street, so the volume of noise might be rather loud. Food: wow the pita sandwich was definitely worth its money! It was filled to the "brim". The sauce complemented the inside ingredients very well, as well as the chicken that was seasoned very well. I do wish that the pita might've been a tad crispier, that would've been an amazing taste experience!

Wow, what a great find! I was tired of having salad for lunch, and my coworker suggested this place as a different, healthy option. Placing an order on their online portal for pickup around 12 noon was super easy. I ordered a Bowl with Chicken, 3 Salad Sides (Israeli Salad, Roasted Califlower, and Quinoa Tabouli) and Tahini. The serving size was generous - I actually ended up only eating half for lunch and the rest for dinner. Everything was so flavorful, delicious, and perfectly made! I didn't realize they also included hummus and I will say that the hummus was probably one of my favorite parts of the dish. I will definitely be adding this to my lunch rotation for when I'm in the city! In terms of ambiance - the restaurant itself is cute, and a great spot to have lunch!

We got the Kofta (beef) wrap. Pros - very very good. Tasty. Filling. - decent size Cons - $16 a bit pricey IMO but what isn't nowadays. Overall 8/10

Came in on a Tuesday around 5pm and there was no wait. Opted in for a build your own bowl for $14 + $1.50 for extra protein. You have a choice of a protein plus 3 salads and it comes with hummus. It's a great place for a quick bite and very filling. I love the different veggie options. It feels like I'm eating something healthy. The staff were nice and welcoming too. For protein I got falafel and an extra side of kofta. I have yet to find kofta that I like, it's usually dry but it's a less dry here at Sababa. I should have gotten extra falafel because it's good here especially with hummus and tahini.

I first tried the Sabik pita sandwich in Israel. Till then I thought the only vegetarian option for a pita bread was with a falafel. But fried eggplant and boiled egg can take the humble pita to another level. Served with skug, a aioli kind of dip. I had seen pictures of Amba sauce being served on the side at Sababa but it was missing in our takeaway. Even if you are not a vegetarian do try the Sabik Pita sandwich. I also ordered a Rice bowl with roasted cauliflower and fried eggplant( because I am obsessed with it ). This is really very filling. The quantities served is pretty decent and good value for money in todays inflationary environment. I went to the Kearny location but there's one on Stevensons street as well. If you want to look beyond hummus and falafel , do pay this place a visit for a flavor filled middle eastern experience

Quick recap: - Food: Good - Portion size: Average - Service: At the counter - Environment: Whole in a wall - $: Low - Perks: N/A Overall? Good food. Average portion. Nice people. Fast service. More details: We went there for lunch. There are a couple of options that are all roughly the same price - the bowl ($13) comes with hummus, your choice of 3 side salads and a protein, the rice bowl ($12) comes with rice and lentil, a protein and a choice of one salad, an the pita sandwitch ($12) already includes pretty much all the ingredients but you choose the protein. Everything was good and fairly quick. Would go again.

It reminds of of chipotle but for Mediterranean food and healthier. I picked the falafel bowl and added a few sides of quinoa and salad. Nice ambiance for lunch as a break from a busy work day!

There was complimentary bread which was insanely good and fluffy and warm plus tahini and an onion tomato sauce I think along with radishes and olives. We are not olive ppl sadly but I tried one and it was pretty okay. The service was great and all the servers were super attentive and accommodating. The Stuffed falafel was so good and huge 1 is enough for 2 people. The mosabaha was very refreshing and so good. The meat combo was good overall and everything was very herbally spiced, I wasn't impressed by the lamb tho but the kebab, hummus, and chicken were great! I haven't had Mousakhan before so not sure how it should taste but to me it was sweet and savory with really well cooked chicken. I honestly felt pretty healthy overall cause I was eating hella veggies and everything tasted so fresh. The kunafa was good we got it crispy and was yummy imo but was a lil oily (I think this is normal tho). Arab food isn't really spicy but it is spiced and very herbal which I felt in the food here, I appreciate that chili sauce is provided for the spice lovers. Overall, would highly recommend. It was about $100ish for everything and they recently increased their prices but tbh the portion sizes are huge and I feel like it is so worth it we had hella leftovers. If we had 4 ppl instead of 2 it would've been perfect portions for everyone.

When we arrived at around 7:30 pm, there were tables available. It's a comfortable cafe-like restaurant with mural paintings on the wall. Service was friendly and helpful. Unfortunately, the food wasn't as good as the ambiance and waitstaff. ***OUR PICKS*** BEEF SHAWERMA ENTREE ~ the beef was overly salted, saffron rice was ok, hummus was really thick, like peanut butter. My guy ordered this and thought it was average. 3/5 LAMB SHISH KEBAB WRAP ~ this was my dish. I ate one half of the wrap and it only held two cubes of lamb meat. The lettuce and tomatoes made the wrap bland. The meat was seasoned, but everything was plain, so it needed more seasoning. Honestly, this was missing flavor! I'll have to add something to it when I eat the rest of this wrap at home. 2.5/5 HALF ROASTED CHICKEN AND RICE ~ Our friend ordered this dish. It needed more sumac. This tasted like plain roasted chicken. Maybe it needs more seasoning while marinating. It wasn't dry, so that's a relief. Rice was ok and it wasn't dry or soggy. 3.5 We've been spoiled and have had better food in San Francisco and the Bay Area. Nothing stood out for any of us. Prices are a bit high for what you get. Sadly, probably won't be back.

My new favorite dip is the Mercimek Kofte which is a red lentil based chunky dip ; I would've guessed garbanzo bean based dip. The Haydari dip was also super addictive, a thick creamy dip made of kefir cheese and Greek yogurt. So many delicious but gut healthy items of the combo plate; which comes with thin lavash bread. Also loved the red lentil soup, which was warming on a rainy day. I thought it was flavorful without being overly spiced or too thick. My husband enjoyed the lamb kebabs. From the River to the Sea…read more This is the second location for this local, family-owned Palestinian restaurant that opened in 2019 and is operated by Samir Mogannam, the son of the former owner of the Burgermeister that formerly occupied this space, as well as the original Church St. location. Mogannam did a complete rebrand from an American burger restaurant to a fast-casual "Arabic comfort food" establishment that's named in honor of his mother and features her scratch-made recipes. To say it's a success is an understatement, as they've been named one of the best restaurants in SF not just by the Chronicle, but even made the NY Times' "The 25 Best Restaurants in San Francisco Right Now." After one visit, it's clear to see why. The Good: * Yelp Waitlist available * Bus stop right outside the door * Outdoor dog-friendly seating * Fast-casual order at the counter, and they bring the food out to you. * Service was friendly and efficient. * Palestinian and Jordanian beers in bottles! I didn't even know that was a thing. * Falafel were about 98.753% like my mom's. In a word: delicious. * Musakhan was phenomenal. The chicken was cooked perfectly with crispy skin and the sumac-onion "relish" was spot on. Get this. * Handmade pita bread was delicious. * Carissa enjoyed her Shish Tawook plate, as they were smart again and used chicken thighs which kept the well-seasoned meat nice and juicy. The concomitant hummus was fantastic, and the "Mom's Rice" was fuhgeddaboudit good. She did think the chicken could've used an extra thirty seconds on the grill to firm up the meat just a touch, but otherwise it was perfect. The Meh: * The Fattoush salad was just OK. It was overdressed and needed more dates that were cut into smaller pieces so that you get more of it in each bite to help offset the vinegar. The Ugly: * Parking here is a real hassle, as it's street parking only and it's all neighborhoods. So, be prepared to drive around endlessly looking for an opening. Conclusion: Best Palestinian food outside of me mum's kitchen.
