Love this place! The food is awesome and the prices are very reasonable. my favorite dish is the huevos rancheros, which they serve until 3 pm. They will cook your eggs perfectly and you will be super happy. Their salsa is pretty spicy, so if you are a wimp ask for a milder one they will bring it to you. The staff are super friendly and the atmosphere is nice. I highly recommend this restaurant. And when you're done eating, go next door to Mockingbird Handprints and shop! read more

I had the Enchiladas de Camaron to-go and while the food was good, it just seems like it was over-priced for what it was. It's the universal problem with restaurants nowadays - when you don't want something, the price doesn't come down, but let you substitute something and it goes up like that substitution doesn't save them money. Case in point, I don't like rice and didn't realize a side salad was the other side (I can own that, but its far more common to see refried and rice as the included sides than rice and a salad) but to do two refried beans was $5 (even though one of those should've been comped as a substitution because I didn't take the rice). To get queso instead of the chipotle, cilantro or poblano sauces was $2 and it was like a small scoop of queso barely enough to cover both enchiladas. Definitely not worth $2. Chips and salsa was almost $5. The service was quick and the order was made correctly so I'm happy to give a couple of stars for that. Overall for an enchilada plate, chips & salsa it came out to over $34 and of course there's a tip line on your receipt. read more

I challenge you to find a better spot for a Sunday morning breakfast in the Alamo City...seriously. With all the reviews talking about the chilaquiles, you *KNOW* that's what I had to try. They have five chilaquile plates to choose from. I loves me some spices, so I chose the spiciest one, which was the Chilaquiles Bravos for $7.95. NOTE: the chilaquiles plates do not come with egg, but you can add two eggs for a $2.50 upcharge. These were very different from the chilaquiles plates you find in most places around San Antonio, but different in a GOOD way. I asked the server what region of Mexico their style of food is from and he told me the Mexico City area. Breakfast tacos are between $1.50 and $1.99 and if you add cheese, it's an extra dollar. The tacos are STUFFED, and worth every penny. Instead of a tomato-based salsa, the tacos come with a hot sauce that I can't even begin to describe. I poured most of it over my chilaquiles plate and it was SOOO good. The service is great! It's not a very large place, but they do have tables you can push together, or you can sit at the bar if the tables are full. They also have some seating outside on the front patio. Yes, they do have mimosas - they are $4.50, and yes, I had to take a nap afterward. =) Side note: the server told me the restaurant has only been open a year. ** 4.5 Stars, but rounding up to 5 for Yelp ** I have been eyeing Sabor Cocinabar from afar (AKA Instagram) even before I moved to San Antonio. On our way back from a morning in Bandera, my husband and I finally stopped by to see what all the hub-bub was about. A lot of things were not what I was expecting, but it didn't necessarily detract from the experience. First off, the location. Sabor Cocinabar is nestled in a small, quiet strip off of Oran Avenue, and it has plenty of parking (assuming the other businesses aren't packed). Second, when you walk in there isn't exactly room to stand and wait without feeling like you're on top of the two tables straddling the front door or the folks seated at the bar. Third and fourth will come later. They serve breakfast until 3 PM every day, but we opted for lunch. We ordered the chips and queso (we weren't sure if chips and salsa were complimentary... read reviews after the fact and saw they were), enchiladas mixtas, and pechuga poblana. The chips & salsa and queso came out shortly after placing our order. The third thing that wasn't quite what I was expecting was the chips. I couldn't tell if they were freshly made or store-bought, which is something I can't quite shake. I'm pretty sure they were made in-house though. Lastly, the queso utilized the yellow cheese dip which I'm never quite sure if it's cheese or not. I was anticipating the white queso, but regardless of the chips' origin and the color of the cheese, they all tasted good. It was also interesting to note that they put a bit of pico de gallo on top of the cheese dip... and I love pico de gallo. When our entrees came out they were hot and ready to eat without burning your mouth. My husband exclaimed that the chicken was "absolutely delicious", and I was pretty darn happy with the different sauces adorning my enchiladas mixtas (poblano, mole, and cilantro) and the rice. We always pass this spot but finally stopped in for a dinner on a Tuesday! It was not packed and they have a nice area for patio seating. Service was great! Our waisted was so sweet and always checking in on us. Try the cartina margarita- they are the traditional margaritas but they hit the spot and they aren't light handed. A little pricey for a Tuesday night drink but worth it! The enchiladas were delicious and they have big portions. Holy cow. Bypass all of the traditional breakfast places and come here! We were visiting San Antonio for the weekend and after a faileft attempt at finding good Mexican breakfast foods the previous day, we decided to come to Sabor Concinabar. A brief look at the food pics on Yelp was enough to win us over, and we were certain we had found an authentic hole-in-the-wall spot with authentic food. When we arrived, we actually missed the building because it looked much nicer than we expected! It almost looked like a fine dining restaurant from the outside. I told my husband I was worried the food wouldn't be as good or authentic served out of a place like that. We went inside and the inside matches the outside. No tacky decor, very tastefully decorated. The staff was super friendly. Our waiter was incredibly patient and accommodating. Never rushed us or rushed off. He did everything he could to make our food the best it could be. 3 of us order chilaquiles. ORDER. THESE. Some with eggs and beef, one with eggs and chicken. If you're going for breakfast/brunch, adding eggs is a must for the dish. We tried the rojo, verde, and chipotle. The verde and chipotle were my Favorites. The only downfall is we all were mistaken in think it would be an extra $2.50 for both eggs and a meat, but it was $2.50 for each. Rookie mistake. But honestly none of us cared because the food was so good. Also, the coffee is AMAZING-- brewed with a little bit of cinnamon. Holy cow. I can't say enough good things about Sabor - great service, incredible from-scratch food, reasonable prices, and now great ambiance. Delicious chillaquiles!! So worth coming here just for these and the very delicious and effective coffee. Because of a heads up from Lesley and little B I had to try them. So glad I did. I did have trouble finding them on my first visit. The yelp app is not always accurate with the pin placement even when the address is correct. Maybe a future fix? They are worth the effort. Keep looking =) With the chillaquiles there is an option to add shredded chicken or 2 eggs. I like mine with 2 over easy eggs. I'm sure if you wanted you can add both. The Chillaquiles Rojo are awesome. The rojo sauce is delicious with a tease of heat. The Chillaquiles Verde is also wonderful. The verdes sauce is excellent. I could eat it by itself. The Chillaquiles En Chipolte is covered in a guijillo sauce with a light undertone of chipotle. Another excellent option. 3 down 2 to go. Woke up with a hankering for a good waffle and the good ol' Yelp app really came though. Recognized the neighborhood and fell into this lil gem unsure of what to expect. The menu boasts tons of tex-mex plates but my heart was set on treating my madre to some brunch. After a short wait on their shaded porch, we were ushered in to a couple seats that had opened at the bar. I am a chicken and waffles connoisseur so ya gurl was hyped to see 'waffle de pollo' available. I was served the fluffiest waffle I've had in a hot minute with some crispy lil chicken tenders on top, even my mom (who is NOT a waffle person) indulged in a few stolen bites. She'd ordered the chicken enchilada plate that came out with Spanish rice and refried beans, I tried a bite of everything and couldn't find a fault in anything. I swear it was like one second I saw my mom's plate half full and two seconds later, it was empty. If we hadn't treated ourselves to any drinks we could've gotten outta there with a bill less than $25 but it isn't brunch without a mimosa so we gave in. A little disappointed when they came out lukewarm (seeing the carton of orange juice being pulled from the fridge did give me some concerns about how well their fridges hold temperatures but ayy, I didn't get sick.) but I dropped a couple ice cubes in and it chilled pretty quickly. The staff was a little all over the place, a ton of tables were crammed in there and it was a pretty full house, but anybody who's attention you could get was more than willing to assist in any way they could. Sabor is lo mejor! This was my first visit and I came fir Saturday brunch. The decor and ambiance was beautiful. There was lots of art from local artist and I loved the fiesta themed wallpaper. This was my birthday brunch so I indulged and ordered myself a bottle of bubbly. Our service was quick and attentive. The menu was all the Tex mix favorites with more traditional dishes added in. We ordered the mixed fajita plate to share and wow it was so flavorful. It came with all the fixings and fresh homemade tortillas. Omg! My first dining experience at Sabor Cocinabar created a memorable life time moment! The Pollo en Mole was perfectly spiced & flavor was mouth watering. I can't remember the last time I've had chicken Mole this good! Plus, the $7.95 lunch menu is an amazing deal for such high quality food. Upon ordering my meal, I asked about the menu items & category of the restaurant. I was informed by the restaurant manager that most of the menu item recipes originated from central Mexico. This is not your typical Tex-Mex restaurant, it's authentic Mexican food. Although the restaurant recently opened, it appears to have create some hype in the dining scene . The simple & modern motif creates a pleasant dining experience. Service level during my lunch visit was attentive & efficient. It's very apparent that the staff at Sabor Cocinabar strives for customer service excellence! No alcoholic beverages are available yet. According to the restaurant management, preparations are in order to serve alcohol in the future. With the adequately size bar area, it could turn into a happening happy hour spot?! I will definitely come back many more times to explore the menu. I can't wait to try out some of the other chef creations! read more

Nice, nice, NICE people. Menu: Too many choices and despite being here early in the morning, I could have ordered from the lunch menu. But I didn't. Not sure why, because lunch or dinner for breakfast is almost as good as having breakfast any time of day. In this instance, breakfast seemed the best idea. Not having any idea what I wanted owing to all the choices and everything sounding rather tasty, I asked for suggestions and was directed to the chilaquilas. And because even then I couldn't decide, she recommended the divorciados, which let me pick two different sauces. I felt as though I hit the jackpot. Because it was still breakfast, I added eggs, because, well, why not? The order came out quickly and was a large plate of food. The verdes sauce was good, the chipotle sauce was even better. Underneath the eggs were the onions and queso fresco. I think there was sour cream as well, but I don't remember there being very much of it so if that's important to you, ask for extra. Served with the standard refried beans, everything all worked together to make a filling meal. The coffee was refilled regularly, but perhaps that's because I was the only one there and the staff needed something to do. I wasn't complaining. It's a cute place, with the traditional bright, cheerful colors and decor. I'd come here again. There's a big menu of things to try and I didn't make it all the way through the breakfast offerings much less even start on the lunch/dinner choices. WOW!!!!!!!! An experience of epic proportions is what I can tell you about this gem in Olmos Park. From the delicious Enchiladas Aztecas to the Sabor Beef Nachos, the food is made with such care and grace, you can taste it in every bite. I was so pleased with the delicious flavors, hearty portions, and all around General nature of the waitstaff. They were very helpful and explained in detail every item that I wanted and needed. The only thing I can say is they use Pepsi products so I wasn't able to order my signature "Mexican Coke" that goes great with tacos, Nachos, etc. however you'll be coming back for more once you Taste their Pollo cilantro! We visited on a Sunday morning around 10am and waited about 30 minutes. Not bad for a Sunday morning so that was a great start. The service was fast and friendly and the food was absolutely amazing. It was great to finally find real authentic Mexican food! Everyone claims to be authentic but never lives up to the hype. My husband and I both ordered Chilaquiles Divorciados because we couldn't decide on just one flavor as they all sounded delicious. Between the two of us we tried salsa verde, mole, and habanero. The verde and mole were perfection. I wouldn't dare try the habanero but his eyes were watery and his nose was runny and he ate it all anyway. I'm assuming that means it tasted great despite the heat. The real star in my opinion besides the food was the coffee! Cafe de olla 100% authentic and housemade for sure. If not I need the brand so I can buy it at home I had 3 cups and wanted to take some to go. Definitely check this place out. We came spontaneously to try this place and it did not disappoint . From the beginning my hubby was a little skeptical (he's always picky) but that quickly changed with our server Jesus . He was friendly and took time to ask questions related to our preferences . The food was amazing . Hubby said it felt like he was at his moms for dinner .
