I'll be honest, I've really slacked on reviews for a long time but I simply couldn't live with myself if I didn't take the time to write this one. I moved to Austin almost exactly a month ago and every day I've tried a different highly-rated taco place. Most were TexMex (which doesn't agree with my palette) and some were just bad-no flavor or cheap meat. Today I FINALLY found this authentic Mexican food truck and I'm on cloud 9! The meat is incredibly tender (I tried chicken, beef and pork variations) and filled with flavor. The grilled veggies are just right and the portions are perfect. The salsa is runnier than I'm used to, but tastes great. The 5 taco special works out to $2 a taco, which is what I think all tacos should cost. The owners are super friendly, which has also been hard to come by. Literally my only critique would be that it was missing a lime wedge, but I'm sure they would provide one upon request. This is a little food truck with a spacious outdoor sitting area. The wait time was probably around 15 min. We paid $30 for 7 barbacoa tacos, 1 mulita and 1 Mexican Coke. The must try here are the Tacos de Barbacoa Estilo Jalisco with cheese. They are delicious! The outside tortilla is crunchy and when dipped in the consume it's the perfect bite! Also to note, the consomé is free when you order the barbacoa tacos. They also give you grilled onions, a whole jalapeño, some limes and 2 little salsas on the side. My mouth is watering just writing this! Lol I recommend getting these and eating them right away since the tortilla does have grease and after sitting for a while it won't taste the same. Wow. We had the birria tacos. They came with a cup of consumme', salsas, onions, & fresh lime. I had 2 of these tacos & the BF had 3. Delightful from the first bite! Then we dipped them in the consumme' and it took it to the next level! Delicious! We live in Cedar Park, so this was a drive for us, but oh so worth it! The gals who took our order & gave us the food were very friendly. We ate at a table outside & they are doing a great job with social distancing & cleaning the tables. We felt very safe here. I am from a predominantly Mexican-American area (RGV) and this place reminded me of home! It def has a hole in the wall feeling, dirt floors, etc. I ordered Birria tacos with consome sauce. The meats were so bland and lifeless. None of the different types of tacos stood out to us, not even the al pastor! It just didn't have the distinct flavor that we would normally get from the authentic Mexican taco trucks in Austin. The birria was alright and the consume sauce was pretty good. It was the only thing that stood out in the whole meal. We came around 6:00 pm but it was pretty bare, only a few customers were present. Overall, I would say that this place is average and too overrated. Don't get me wrong, it's not bad but it isn't special either.
