My wife and I celebrated our wedding anniversary at Sado, and it was one of the finest sushi experiences we've ever had. As someone who grew up in Southern California eating excellent sushi, and who has also enjoyed outstanding sushi in San Francisco, Tokyo, Osaka, and Kyoto, I don't hand out praise lightly when it comes to sushi. Sado exceeded every expectation. We chose to sit at the sushi bar and put ourselves entirely in the hands of the chef and our server, allowing them to select our dishes throughout the evening. Every single round was outstanding. Not only was the fish incredibly fresh, but each piece was thoughtfully prepared and beautifully presented. Our waiter explained that the fish is never frozen, which means the menu is influenced by what can be flown in and sourced at the highest quality. That commitment to freshness was evident in every bite. The cocktails were fantastic, the sake flight was expertly curated, and both complemented the meal perfectly. Just as impressive as the food was the service. The staff was knowledgeable, attentive, and genuinely passionate about creating a memorable dining experience. The ambiance struck the perfect balance between upscale and comfortable, making it an ideal setting for a special occasion. Is Sado inexpensive? No. But show me a truly great sushi restaurant that is. It can't be cheap to fly in fish of this quality on a daily basis, and after experiencing the meal firsthand, the value was easy to appreciate. I've had sushi in some of the world's most respected sushi destinations, and Sado belongs in the conversation as a serious sushi restaurant. I highly recommend it, and in my opinion, you simply won't find better sushi in St. Louis.

WOW!!! This place was sooo good and I will be thinking about our meal for a long time. I am a self proclaimed sushi connoisseur and this is the best sushi I've ever had. We had reservations for 5:15 at the sushi and arrived 5 minutes early, but they wouldn't seat us until 5:15 on the dot which I thought was odd. Next time we'll be sure to get there right on time! Nonetheless, our experience was incredible. Our waitress was really nice and explained the menu to us for our first time in and gave us good recommendations. From our cocktails to the sushi and dessert, everything was extremely good and presentation was beautiful. I can't wait to come back!!

Sado is my absolute favorite restaurant in St. Louis! The atmosphere is warm and elevated without feeling too formal, and the attention to detail in both service and presentation really stands out. It's the kind of place you want to bring people because you know they'll leave impressed. The issan hamachi was a standout from the moment it hit the table--fresh, buttery, and incredibly well-balanced. The fried rice is another must-order, the presentation is beautiful and tastes so good I wanted to order another! The sushi in general just keeps proving why Sado deserves a spot on my best dishes list. Everything we tried felt intentional and full of flavor, making it easy to see why this place stays at the top of my rotation.

The food is extraordinary. A lot of thought was put into the food and the concept. It's Japanese inspired in very unique. We enjoyed everything that we ordered. Everything on the menu is meant to be shared and it comes out as it's finished in the kitchen therefore things come to your table typically one dish at a time. It's quite expensive but very well worth it. My only issue was the room temperature. It was very cold in the dining room. So dress warm!

Amazing sushi dinner at Sado! Every dish from the appetizers, entrees, sushi, and desserts were thoughtfully crafted and delicious. All of our servers were so friendly and shared great recommendations. Beautiful ambience too, great place for dinner with a group so you can try several dishes.

I can sit up here and go on and on about how good the food it. How the thought of that little bowl of scrumptious velvety broth still makes me smile. How I only sit at the sushi bar because listening to the sushi chefs talk about their favorite and why I should try something new is one of my favorite parts. Or how we always get the same waiter and he's not just pleasant but you can tell he loves coming to work so it makes the experience better. Or I can say, do yourself a favor and treat yourself to one of the best meals you ever have in a really swank and sexy atmosphere.

Great for a special night out. Server was helpful and answered all our questions. Favorite dishes were lamb and sea bass. Drinks were incredible, especially the momento mora. Pillow talk cocktail is a great dessert drink.

I have heard so many great things about Sado, so this was a highly anticipated meal for me. We went big and got some of the priciest dishes on the menu, including the wagyu hot rock and bluefin toro sashimi. The wagyu was perfectly marbled and was the most tender meat I've had (completely melts in your mouth) but I personally like slightly more chew. The hot rock also cools pretty fast, so you have to eat it relatively quickly (makes it harder to savor each bite). The bluefin toro sashimi was also fatty in texture but surprisingly didn't have much flavor. The other ingredients included in the bowl didn't really fit well in my opinion either. But the star of the meal (and what I would focus on getting more of next time) was the nigiri. Of the nigiri I ordered, I liked the madai and benitoro the most. The rice was perfectly seasoned, and the fish was so flavorful. I particularly loved the seared flavor of the benitoro - so smoky and tender! Service was good, and the environment was a little loud for personal conversation. It was a pricy meal so it's definitely a special occasion type of meal.

Sado is such a vibe! The ambience is beautiful modern, cozy, and just the right mix of classy and chill. The drinks were spot-on (definitely recommend trying one of their cocktails), and the food was amazing. Everything tasted super fresh and well balanced. You can tell the chefs really care about the details. It's one of those places where every bite makes you stop and say "wow." Service was friendly and on point too. Perfect spot for date night, girls' night, or honestly any excuse to treat yourself. Definitely adding this one to my STL favorites list!

We went to Sado for our anniversary dinner - it was definitely a special occasion spot with beautiful ambiance and top-notch presentation. The space feels upscale but still comfortable, and the service was excellent; attentive without being overbearing. The food was fresh, flavorful, and thoughtfully plated. That said, our total was over $200 for two, and while everything was high quality, I'm not sure it fully justified the price. Still, it's worth experiencing once for sushi lovers who want something elevated and refined. Isaan Hamachi (5/5): My absolute favorite of the night - tangy, flavorful, and perfectly balanced. Hamachi Crunch Maki (5/5): Delicious combination of texture and flavor, my favorite roll. Akamai Maki (4/5): Tangy, delicious, simple. Smaller portion though. Masu (Trout) Sashimi - (4/5): Buttery and super fresh, one of the best pieces. Hamachi Sashimi - (4/5): Clean flavor and excellent quality. Overall, Sado is great for a splurge or special night out - just expect fine-dining prices to match the experience.

So good! Worth all the hype. It's pricey but the price tag is worth it. Everything was high quality and delicious, and the service was quick and friendly. Highly recommend the Brussel sprouts and if you can make it during social hour, get the poke nachos!

What a fabulous gem hidden in Saint Louis. Everything here is delightful--service, ambiance and the cuisine. There is so much creativity in both the cocktails and menu. The sushi was perfectly fresh. We are from LA and thought we had been transplanted with how modern and sexy the restaurant was. They have great flexibility with their omakase options which makes it fun to try new things and let the chefs lead you. Any chance we are back in town this one's on the list.

'ssippi is a new(ish) wine bar set towards the western end of the collection of bars, restaurants, and shops that are the heart of the strip. The inside has a large wrap about bar and some limited seating. There is a very good selection of wine and mixed drinks and an okay selection of beer. The prices are reasonable. There is a very limited food menu which largely consists of snacks rather than proper entrees. So this is a great pre/post drink spot rather than somewhere you would spend an evening. The bartenders were fine. Nothing stood out either in a good or bad way. The mixed drink my wife had was very good. The orange wine I had was good, a bit on the dry side but overall no complaints from either of us. Without a highlight of the spot is the large patio. It is mostly taken up by large bench style seating. So you have to be okay sitting next to strangers. I actually enjoy these types of settings and I ended up chatting up the group to our right. There are a couple tables but they are few and far between. There are some overhead canopies and lights, and there was a nice vibe and energy. I was there and it was crowded. I really enjoyed it. Just two additional things to note. The bathroom line was very long. It must only be one stall. The entire time I was there it was a dozen people deep. The only other downside is that my wife and I felt old. The vibe on a late(ish) Saturday night was mainly 20 year olds. If I was in grad school or a recent graduate I would absolutely adore this place. Even if your 30s this probably is a good vibe. Once you hit 40 though you may feel a bit out of place on busy nights (or it will make you feel young again!)

It was sweet, tart, and the perfect drink to go with the Dylan Pizza. The pizza was incredible and Neapolitan-style. It was smooth and the combination of flavors worked well. That's the vibe. We started on the front patio on a Friday night and quickly realized we'd made a mistake. The doors to the interior were open and the music -- a rock-forward playlist that night -- was loud enough that we considered bailing. Our server, was unbothered when we asked to move up to the rooftop. Where we met with a new bartender and server, London, who rolled with it, got us resettled, and from that point on the night was great. London was clearly handling the bar and most of the rooftop tables, but she was attentive throughout, and made eye contact, which seems a near miracle from many 20-something these days. Bumping the score up just for the flexibility on the table move alone. The food: crab cakes were genuinely good, not life-changing, but well above the weak-crab-cake bar that exists in most of the world, served simply with capers and a small salad. I went off-script and ordered the wagyu burger medium rare with fontina (London mentioned cheddar is the more common pick, but the Fontina offerd a great alternative). The burger was deeply flavorful and cooked exactly right, but here's my one real note for the kitchen: toast the brioche bun. Wagyu medium-rare puts out a lot of juice, and an untoasted bun loses its structural integrity about three bites in. A quick toast would let the bun keep some additional integrate and keep up with the perfectly cooked beef. The pom buff were great, the best elevated patato tots you may come by. Beyond what we ordered, the Greek salad is a longtime go-to -- chopped, with grape leaves and pita, available in a small or large, and easily dressed up into a light meal with or without adding some protein or can be share as a self-dress bruschetta appetizer for the group if you ask for extra bread. The cheese boards are also a reliable pick. The wine list is extensive (it's a wine bar, after all), but they don't sniff at cocktails -- I had a solid fine old fashioned, and my wife shared had a Malbec that paired well with everything. Lots of gluten-free options across the menu, too. What Sasha's gets right is that it has refused to become precious. "Wine bar" reads as pretentious to some people, but this place runs as a neighborhood spot. You'll see college kids dressed way down, couples on dates dressed way up, Hawaiian shirts, oversized sweaters, the full range. It's the kind of place where you can split a bottle with your girlfriends, meet a date for drinks and a quick bite without committing to a full dinner, or roll in for brunch on the weekend. Different times of day, different vibes -- always approachable. 4.7 stars. Loses a few tenths for the front-patio music situation and the weak burger bun, but more than makes up for it on flexibility, food, and overall hang factor.
