We came in at a slow time. Nobody was eating in the restaurant. There were 3 workers working. We waiting 15 mins for 2 sandwiches where frankly tasted freezer burned. Walking into this spot, you could feel and smell the authenticity of Vietnamese food. The service was great and took a bit, but worth the wait. All of the chairs looked like they were pushed out of the way to encourage people NOT to sit down, and there was a table with a scannable menu on it. No indications of where to order, either. I ordered pho, one plain and one with chicken. I were told all orders are to-go, which is odd given there were still chairs and tables. I asked if we could eat inside to which she had to ask permission.. and said yes. Thank God. The one girl who took my order was pretty nice, which I appreciate. For the pho, it was $15 and has little to no flavor. Also the smallest portion of pho you can get. I ate all the noodles in THREE bites. Extremely disappointed. Drowned it in sriracha for flavor. I recently ordered a pork belly banh mi and it was quite disappointing. The pork belly tasted fishy and bland. It used to taste better back in the day . I would order here all the time before heading out to the beach but now I will not be returning. Also, they refused my request to have the veggies on the side, and the lady on the phone was not helpful when I was trying to order. Sadly, their quality and service has gone downhill. The pork belly sandwich had really mushy meat texture, it did have a canned tuna flavor maybe from a marinade with fish sauce somewhere that flavored the meat I had to pull the sandwich apart to check if the meat was fish. We also ordered the green rice, it was flavorful bordering to salty but nothing super special about it. The chicken wings however had delicious sauce, but the chicken itself wasn't juicy it was very dry. They have very limited seating, dirty restrooms and the staff just disappeared after giving us our orders we wanted more drinks but we didn't want to go to the kitchen and call them to attend to us. Disgrace to Vietnamese cuisine. Combo Banh Mi is made with deli sliced meat, like sliced turkey you get at Costco. Pho broth has no complexity, tastes like canned chicken broth. Service is terrible, you feel like you're inconveniencing the employees by asking for chili garlic sauce (which is standard at Viet spots, fyi they don't have it). Would 1000% not recommend. Best Vietnamese Food in Town! No these guys aren't family, but the food does remind me of home. I'm embarrassed to admit it now, but we have always tried to avoid this place. When searching for food in the area, we always skipped this over for other restaurants. Like a purist and snobbist?, we figured that there was no way this area can have good Viet food. The food must be watered down, the taste generic, and the flavors generated for the "delicate" palate of the area. Boy did I get slapped back down to earth. Luckily, my fall was softened by the warm embrace of that delicious 420 rice and the flavors on the downtown special got me flying again! I slowly let go of my loyalty to all those Viet restaurants in Garden grove/westminster and succumbed to Saigon on the beach. The pork was smoky and flavorful, the chicken was moist and completely different but just as good as the pork. The 420 rice lit us up with shades of cilantro and bursts of garlic oily goodness. Our next flight took us to the vegetarian jackfruit green rice and jackfruit banh mi. It sounds weird at first, but once you see the jackfruit, it doesn't even taste the way you may have originally pictured it. It's savory, shredded like meat, and goes perfectly well with the green rice. Plus, we flew even higher with this dish since the jackfruit is lighter, we really tasted the cilantro and garlic even more pronounced. The banh mi rounded out our trip and brought as back to solid ground with its' crisp, light bread, and the quintessential fixings of daikon/carrot/cilantro, typical of a banh mi. With our mind clear and unclouded by any influential stimuli, we can see how amazing this place was. The food here is just as good or even better than any place we've been to in Little Saigon, and the price reasonable for the area. I'm very proud to say this place stayed true to it's roots while spreading knowledge and flavor to its' community. read more

Cilantro pho. This place which I once loved has gone to hell. I ordered a vegetarian pho. Was given a bowl of noodles and cilantro. What the hell? No sprouts, basil, jalepeño. It was vile.
