    The dishes

It was about time we tried a churrasqueria in the woodlands. I have never been to this particular chain, and being the adventurous Elite I thought we should give it a try. For the most part, the buffet is nothing really different than other churrasquerias in Houston. But the bacon on the buffet is bruleed so it's sweet. I guess that's different from what I remember. The asparagus is also huge just like the other churrasquerias in Houston however. Oh they do serve sushi. Note the salmon at the sushi place section is smoked salmon and not sashimi. No wasabi or soy sauce too from what I saw. Their cheesy bread is homemade. Pretty good. But I like Fogo better. I knew it was a trap as the basket kept magically filling up each time we got up. They also got mashed potatoes and fried bananas by request. As for the meats, Picanha is usually my go to dish. They also got a garlic version as well. But at this place my favorite was the wagyu beef, baby beef and surprisingly the beef ribs. In fact the table next to us kept asking for more. It's not like Fogo's beef ribs which are meh. These ones are tender. Was not a big fan of the lamb t-bone here which requires special order as they won't otherwise bring it around. Very gamey taste too. The lamb sirloin was gamey too. And moreover it was also tough (as was the Sirloin wrapped in bacon). The chicken legs that they brought around had a sauce on them. I asked what it was and the gaucho said ketchup! Lmfao. Pass. At least he was honest! The pork ribs that came around also had a sauce on it. I didn't care for the flavor. Maybe ketchup too. lol The quiejo asado with honey was a new dish I hadn't see before. It was ok. Just fried cheese. Kids discount cuts off at 11 years old which is a year younger that Fogo. Also the discount is only $10 off the lunch price which is less than Fogo at a similar age bracket (Fogo gives half price off). My kid don't eat much. In fact she spent the last half of the meal in the bathroom. I guess making room for desert. Our waitress was very nice. But like almost every restaurant I've been to they didn't acknowledge the special occasion I noted on the reservation form on open table. In my old age "full" feels a whole lot different than full when I was younger. 10 years ago I could go into overdrive to get my moneys worth. But now full even with meat and no carbs just feels .... vomitous. This body is weak. I am but a shell of the man I once was. Sigh.

The ambiance is delightful, you feel you are in a very up scale restaurant, but the mood is casual and the suggestion for attire is dressy casual. The food Has never disappointed me and my family and friends. The salad bar is always fresh with an abundance of choices including sushi. The pan de queso (cheese bread) is a must have. The staff is amazing everyone is so helpful and friendly. Everything considered, all in,its the best bang for the buck. Fixed price no surprises. Try it and see for yourself

Service is way better than Fogo de Chao, the buffet bar is delicious and has more variety. The meats keep coming constantly and prices are way more affordable. I like the ambiance and the wooden walls. They gave us a free dessert for my husband's birthday and let him choose from the standard dessert menu. In most places de bring you a standard piece of cake without asking you.

Announced their doors opening at 4pm, but had a secret lottery several hours before.... This promotion was a cruel joke,

Feeling quite deceived (and very disappointed) over the marketing campaign launched for the Grand Opening and how it was handled. We had been super excited for this concept (for weeks!) and kept a close eye on their online presence, social media posts, and we even signed up for the "VIP" emails.... When their Facebook page announced they would officially open their doors on Saturday the 25th at 4pm, we planned to be there ready! To add to this excitement, they advertised $1 meals for the first 50 guests in the door... Woohoo! I made a reservation for 4pm (the earliest time slot available) on OpenTable the night before. On Saturday, April 25th, we arrived around 3:30pm to see a "Black Friday" sort of line out the door and around the building. Turns out that well before the expected opening time, they had already seated the first 50 people. After interviewing the crowd, it was revealed that the restaurant had staged a lottery a few hours prior and handed out "Golden Tickets" to a lucky few. I guess you needed access to secret intel to have known this. Regardless, we were still eager to dine on opening day and stuck around for a bit... Despite expecting to pay full price, we were still hoping to keep our dinner plan. We had a reservation, after all. After waiting in line for half an hour more, we finally made it inside the doors! I approached the hostess to check in for our reserved table, however & much to my disdain she explained that "it did not matter whether you had a reservation." Apparently, everyone was being treated as a walk-in, first come first serve.... At this point, the restaurant was overwhelmed with waves of people waiting, that the wait would continue for over an hour or more. Thanks to this chaos, our Saturday schedule was ruined and dinner was a total flop. This Grand Opening was an absolute circus. Planning ahead meant absolutely nothing, and it was all about luck of the draw and insider knowledge. Jokes on me. This experience definitely left a bad first impression. Really makes me mistrust their advertising and poor way of handling their reservation system... Customer service is a huge reflection of an establishment, and this left a sour taste.

Service : the lady we had was very sweet and she had cute bows in her hair. That has nothing to do with anything I just thought it was adorable. We had a reservation for 3 at 6:45 PM and were seated promptly with no issues. Chama has a reputation for being the best Brazilian steakhouse in Houston, and I have always considered it as such. The service is phenomenal and consistent, unlike other AYCE churrascarias that do a big wave of meat up front and then ignore your table. However, Chama has changed significantly since the last time I was here a few years ago. Most noticeably, the price has gone up significantly. I don't blame them with the beef price increase in the US but it is a hefty tag. Secondly, several dishes are basically upon-request. The lobster bisque, for example, is no longer self-service. Additionally, sausage and some meats come very rarely and should be asked for so they can be prepared. Salad bar: I'd say relatively standard, I usually load up on the salmon, a piece of pork belly, and some asparagus and cheeses to reset meat flavors. Overall, for the popular cuts, I tried to get a bit of each. My general ratings are as follows, but I would emphasize that relative to other spots they are great cuts in general. New York Strip (3/5): Incredibly buttery almost to the point of oily. Rack of lamb (4.5/5): Deliciously gamey, very tender Picanha (5/5): The house special and well deserved; extremely tender and flavorful. Bottom sirloin (3.5/5): Slightly less heavy than the NY Strip but overall wouldn't take too much over the better cuts. Ribeye (4.5/5): Right behind the picanha in terms of tender meats. Bacon Wrapped Filet Mignon (2.5-4.5/5): I had one piece that was actually pretty tough, and another that was perfect. Don't let it sit too long I guess. Upon request (did not come around in the first ~hour): Shrimp (4/5): Quite salty, but really good mix in flavors Costela (Beef rib) (5/5): Fatty, delicious flavors, really tender. Don't let it get cold. Sausage (2/5): Too fatty for me but it was enjoyed by others I was with. Other things that came around rarely - polenta, the fried cheese they can put honey on, and some other sides. But, everything will come if you ask. Lastly, their flan is very rich and sharable and we got it to-go after getting stuffed (for a birthday). Shoutout to our fantastic waitress Romy for being attentive to allergies and getting us the cuts we really wanted. Chama is definitely still a fantastic spot to celebrate something or really indulge. I've got to be careful with cholesterol and reset afterwards though.

What stuck out with the lamb chops and the lamb shank . it was very tender. Our waitress and waiters were on point about who ordered what drink and what desserts. But for the employees that were going around with the meat was a kind of difficult. It was hard to get the lambs, but maybe they were just out of it so quickly because it was really good. Honestly, next time I would just get the lamb and the salad bar. Make sure to get small cuts of meat because there's been times when I asked for medium, but they will give me rare instead. So if they give you a cut you don't like, you can avoid food waste. I wish they gave us a list of what drinks that we could have. They had lemonade mixed with other fruits, but not Brazilian lemonade that was made with the rind. I don't think my coworkers knew there were an options besides basic soda and sparkling water. Mind you the lemonade mixture was pretty good. It's just sad they do not have the Brazilian lemonade with the rind. Maybe the tables were chaotic but the people next to me and myself weren't able to get our water cups refilled. The tables and chairs were even, stable, and steady . We had a lot of people so we had to have them all connected. There's free parking in the garage attached to the movie theater above the third floor . This is my go-to parking garage when I'm in this area. Compared to other Brazilian steakhouses, this place has some points to work on. There is potential.

There's a beautiful authentic Brazilian feel when you enter inside. The tile on the floor is beautiful and it really makes me want to travel. My server, karen, was great. Though they didn't have most of what I wanted (and this being my first time annnnd being super hungry) I still respect that she kept her cool and tried to give me options. I order the passion fruit juice and tried the Churrasco Gaucho with collard greens and rice. The juice was an 8 out of 10. Not too sweet and a really nice refreshing flavor. I think if it was a little bit colder it would have been a point or so higher. churrasco gaucho was a solid 9 out of 10. It was super flavorful from meat to me. It came with steak, pork, sausage, and chicken. All very very flavorful. The collard greens were a nice surprise. I was concerned when she said they it was fried but it was fried very lightly with olive oil. The flavor was absolutely delicious. And the texture was nice. Not hard not soft just perfectly chewable.. I know that sounds weird but it was. Another nice surprise was the rice. It was literally Delicious By itself. I am not one to season my white rice at home so, that's what really made me surprise but goodness gracious I could have eaten the rice by itself and I'm not a rice girl like that. Time to Appetizers: 20 minutes Time to Entree: 25 minutes Arrived at 2:30PM on a Saturday and were directed to sit anywhere. We sat near the buffet, which was a bit unclear. There was a live guitarist/singer playing which was a fantastic vibe. A complimentary basket of four pieces of cheese bread was brought out, excellent way to start the meal! For two people, we ordered: 2x Coxinha (3.5/5): While the chicken is a tad dry, it's complimented well by the creamy sauce 1x Kibe (3/5): Reminded me of a meatball crossed with a falafel, like something you'd order on a skewer. Not too grainy and a nice smoky flavor. 1x Risole de Camarao (4.5/5): I thought this was a better version of the Coxinha. The shrimp flavor really permeates and reminds you of a shrimp risotto in a single bite. Churrasco Gaucho (16oz) (2/5): We decided to get this to sample all of the meats. Unfortunately I thought everything was really salty. Maybe it's characteristic of the Brazilian grilling style, because the smoky flavors did come through, but it just felt too salty for me on everything. Honestly maybe it just needed some kind of vegetable besides beans to help offset. Whatever their chili sauce is (5/5): I have no idea what this is but it reminds me of mashed up bird eye chili sauce..it's really good. Sprinkle it on everything. Helps with the saltiness of things. Milk Flan (4/5): A rich custard style of flan, thick and very sharable. Not too sweet. I liked this as a great palate cleanser. Service was really prompt and friendly.
