If you're craving a good, solid salad, this is the place to go! Their regular sized salad is fairly loaded and you won't feel skimped like other places that offer salads. From what I remember, my combination of the spring mix pesto chicken with craisins, eggs, olives, sprouts, broccoli, carrots and some more (I don't remember) topped with the Chipotle ranch was delicious! The total came to about $11 and I had leftovers for breakfast (slightly soggy--I recommend eating in one sitting). I have to say that you have to experiment a couple times to find the right combination... This location of Salata is the only one I see doing proper protection of the food. Another location I visited on Holcombe has plexiglass that is too low, and unmasked customers talk right into the exposed food. We now know that droplets from speaking are the main way corona is spread. I cannot believe some places allow unmasked speaking right over the open food. Good job at this location. Could be better if you require masks in the food line and anytime not seated at the table eating. read more

Lots of options and great soups - good spot for lunch during the workday!

I enjoy a good salad, but I was still a little apprehensive about going to lunch at a 'salad only' place (yes I know that they have soup and a few sandwiches but this is mainly a salad place). I'm usually very hungry at lunchtime because I never really eat a filling breakfast during the week so I was leery of still being hungry after a salad lunch. I should not have worried. The salad was huge! And it could have been even more huge if I had added more toppings. The set-up of Salata is ideal for those of us who worry about all those unwashed hands and sniffling noses touching a public salad bar. Salata has a very large and efficient staff that take care of making the salad for you, and a nice plastic barrier between the sniffling masses and the actual food. At least one employee was at each station along the length of the salad bar and they definitely move the orders quickly between each station. The type of base salad mixture comes first, followed by toppings upon toppings upon toppings. Vegetables, cheeses, sprouts, things that I've never eaten before so I don't know what they're called, chicken/shrimp, dressings, and lets not forget the BACON! You can add as much or as little as you want. I believe that the meat toppings cost extra but they looked like they'd be worth it. You also have a choice of a side of bread. They have a regular soda fountain but also have a good selection of teas and lemonades. The green tea lemonade that I had was very good. If you are eating in then the salads are given to you in the same metal bowl that they are made in. I loved that! No extra waste! My lunch mate ordered a salad but also got one of the soups which he said was delicious. My lunch was a very reasonable $10 flat for the salad, bread and drink. The employees were very friendly. The tables were clean and plentiful. They even have bar-like seating along the far windows for those who are eating in by themselves or those who just enjoy watching the world go by. All in all I know that I'll be back! And next time I'm bringing my work colleague, who absolutely loves salads, so that I can see whether it's actually possible to get the salad to the top of the bowl! read more

I went in wanting a salad hence the name and theme of the place, when I asked for more lettuce (in the beginning) I was told that was the amount of lettuce they give and it is because of the toppings. You would think when a pregnant woman comes in for a salad and stated they do not want 50 toppings, more lettuce was what was wanted they would not have an attitude about it. Fell in love with this place but at a different location! Went to this one today and was shocked as to how different it is. The food was still very good and high quality however they give you about 40% less of everything. I had to continue to ask for a little more of everything including lettuce. I got two wraps to go, one turkey and one chicken. I literally was shocked that the turkey the server put in the bowl was only four pieces so I did say something. He said they cut the meat in larger cubes. It was the same exact size size at other locations. I did go in at an off time and was the only one in there and it looks as if they had everything stocked for the dinner rush. Overall I still love Salata but will not return to this location. So I usually go to the Salata on Heights, but I was in this area and figured I'd just go to this one. UGH!!! I ordered a small salad with salata mix, kale & spinach. The greenery was mostly salata mix with a few leaves of kale and spinach. So we move on and I get the rest of my toppings then we get to the protein. I asked for the pesto chicken and am given 4 pieces of chicken, so I ask for more chicken. The worker advises me that it will cost me extra and puts 2 more pieces on the salad. The 2 additional pieces cost me $2! REALLY?????? I could've gotten a large salad and had more of everything for the $2 I was charged for the 2 pieces of chicken. Just ridiculous!!! I love salata!! But this particular location has a tendency to be stingy with their portions. This the only location I know of that doesn't give you size options. Only a LARGE salad. No biggie really, expect to be full! I already get full enough from a small. When you pick your meat, they give not as much as they charge you for. An extra $3 for turkey or seafood and you can't even give me a spoon fill? I'm not one of those people who likes to overload on my food but it just seems too little meat for the extra price. Service here seems rushed. I understand that it's lunch hour and you might have long lines but I went there when there was no line! I felt rushed. I absolutely LOVE Salata Greenway Plaza! For some background, when I moved to Houston this year, I was desperately searching for a healthy, clean, and affordable place to eat. After searching and searching for restaurants that met my criteria, I went into Salata to try it out. Let me tell you-I have never looked back! For one, Salata Greenway Plaza is the easiest way to have a healthy, nutritious, and fresh meal. You tell the server if you want a salad or a wrap and then you get to pick as many toppings as you want for your salad! Now, let's be clear, the toppings go above and beyond the average salad toppings. The outstanding workers continuously prepare and replenish the plethora of vegetables, fruits, cheeses, proteins, and breads that you get to enjoy. Some of my favorite toppings are the fresh jicama, bean sprouts, buffalo chicken, and toasted pita chips (right out of the oven!). Once you are finished making your salad or wrap, you can also get a bowl or cup of soup (the chicken tortilla is my favorite). Salata also offers delicious and healthy teas, flavored and sparkling waters, and wine. Even though it seems like Salata can't get any better, it somehow manages to do so. The service at Salata Greenway Plaza is the best service I have ever received-superior to a five star restaurant. All of the workers are incredibly professional and diligent. They are consistently replenishing the salad bar, cleaning the dining area or looking for other ways to improve the experience for customers. I have honestly never seen such a consistently clean restaurant--and I am a clean freak, so my comment goes a long way! Lastly, Salata Greenway Plaza is so easy and affordable. There is always ample parking either outside or in the garage (great when it is raining!). This location is crazy!!!! I normally visit the Heights location but since I was on the other side of town I decided to come here. I ordered a small salad and asked for kale/salata mix, but mostly kale. The lady paid me absolutely no attention & then when I requested more kale she informed me that I only got a small. UGH ok Now I totally understand the concept of the salad bar, & can even accept that they only give you a little of each thing, but if out of your 20 some odd options I am only getting 5 I would think it would be acceptable to ask for extra of each. This is my second trip to Salata, my first time I was not prepared for the concept. So this trip I am ready. Firstly if two people are going do not each purchase one, the one bowl is enough for two. I guess putting lettuce in a bowl for customers must suck, if not the young guy behind counter could not have been less engaging. Heck Hi how are you today would make me feel better about me spending 13 bucks for a salad, its not like I am eating there to be healthy, I just stopped here before eating my way thru Costco. Hard to review a salad place but i guess the only thing thats makes me wonder is how everything is grabbed by their hands yes they have gloves on but is this accepted practice? I've been working long hours at work so the past couple of days I've asked my gf to get me a wrap from this place. It's very close to our apt and I've been waiting to try it. She got me a wrap loaded with veggies. I was very impressed. So today we went for lunch together. I paid for both of us and it was very affordable: we got two wraps (both with chicken added), a bowl of soup, a drink, and two yogurt bowls from their greek yogurt bar for only $35 altogether! I love their southwest tortilla and their buttermilk ranch and chipotle ranch. I added so many veggies to mine (carrots, cucumber, romaine lettuce, celery, and sprouts) and some black beans to make a nice southwest inspired wrap. Their tortilla soup is so good. Their teas and lemonades had us coming back to the beverage area to try more and more combinations. I love their metal-looking plastic ware and the atmosphere is very welcoming. The yogurt bar is awesome, too. Their pita chips that come with their wraps are okay. I wish they had more flavors and they're really dry. I came here to lunch today, excited about the idea of having really fresh ingredients with many options of fat free dressing. The place was super cute! You get in line and you are immediately greeted if you would like a salad or wrap. I chose the salad option since this was my first visit. There were four options: Spring Mix, Romaine Lettuce, Spinach, and a Green Mix. I was pleased that I can choose more than one type of green in my bowl. As you scooted along, your options became an abundance of more veggies. When I got to the protein, I rec'd a very small portion of what look like a tablespoon full of chicken. I was a bit disappointed there. The dressing option was great! I went with the fat free mango but again disappointed when I saw how big my salad bowl was and just getting one ladle of salad dressing to mix my salad with. Behind the window, it didn't look like dry. Then there were a selection of bread and the option to add a bowl or cup of soup. I opted for no bread but I did want to try their tomato basil. With a drink, my bill came to close to $12 which I thought was fairly decent. As I dove into my salad, my suspicions of me having a dry salad was true. I did not taste and barely saw a gloss of my dressing. I approach the counter and requested for extra dressing. The gentleman behind the counter stated that it is an extra charge and I told him, I don't care, I can't eat my salad the way it is. As the server was getting another scoop of salad dressing for me, I was approach by someone who look like a manager, asked me how can he help. I told him that the gentleman was already assisting me with getting extra salad dressing. As soon as I said that, he kindly mentioned there was an extra charge. That time, it really annoyed me. I told him that I got it and that I have no problem with them ringing me up. In the end, the salad turned out okay. I was not as satisfied as wanted to be. After I finish eating, I did visit the yogurt bar since they were serving greek yogurt and like the salad bar, it was a build your own greek yogurt. The portion was small and so were there toppings to be added to the yogurt. However, my combo of using honey and adding mango and strawberries turned out to extremely good. I want to come back and give them a second chance. Next time, I will go with the wrap option and see how they do. read more

Horrible customer service. The lady in the green shirt who was serving me on a Sunday afternoon was rude, confrontational and doesn't understand how to properly make a salad wrap. How hard is it to tightly pack a bowl of salad into a tortilla without it coming apart the minute it's picked up?! Please implement better training for supervisors on 1) how to properly wrap a tortilla 2) how to change gloves often and to not clean the counter with the same gloves used to handle food and 3) how to smile and greet customers. read more

The servers here were extremely helpful and friendly, and the restaurant itself was well-designed and very clean! For $8, I received a large bowl with as many toppings and leaves as I wanted; however, they do charge an extra $2-$3 for meat and certain toppings, all listed. The restaurant is subway-style, so that you can pick and choose whatever you want to go in your salad. I just placed an order for a delivery service to bring me a salad and am extremely disappointed. I order a regular salad, romaine and spinach with the typical toppings and the salad looked more like a small salad (wasn't much to it at all), minimal tomatos and feta cheese. I requested my dressing on the side but they added it anyway and a wilted salad was delivered. I was not impressed with this salad. With this being a salad place I would think the salads would be larger. Central Market salads cheaper and large enough for two and are packed with vegetables this salad was more of a "starter salad".
