Personally my favorite is the Southwest Wrap with pita chips on the side! When i'm in the downtown area, salata is usually my go to. Came here the other day while looking for something light and good to eat while walking near L.A. Live, so went down to the food court where there's a Target and other stores on Figueroa. Once in the food court I looked around and this was the best choice for how I was feeling. I liked the idea that I could pick whichever type of food I wanted. I came here today for a 12oz chicken tortilla soup. There was one girl in there to help the clients. I was the second person in line. The first woman orders her food and the worker starts it's and just puts a few ingredients on the plate. Then she comes to me. I tell her all I want is the soup and she removes me from the line and asked me to wait by the register which I did. She then proceeded to help everyone else behind me and completely ignored me. She has this stupid process where she wants to do only a few things for each other and move to the next customer instead of helping one guest at a time. It's the stupidest way to help people. We are there for a quick bite and don't have all day to be waiting around. She needs some serious training. Salata is located in the food court at Figat7th. I have always passed by this place and finally decided to try it out. You are basically building your own salad or wrap. They have 4 blends of salad that you can choose from. On my visit I went with the Salata blend which is basically all the veggies mixed together. Next you choose your toppings. They have so many options to choose from that makes it overwhelming. If you go too crazy, the flavors may not mix well together. After choosing all your toppings, you can pick one of the various dressings. I went with the mango dressing since it sounded most appetizing at the time. The process is like a conveyer belt, so you are proceeding from one station to another. I wasn't able to really look at all they had to offer. They have different proteins that you can add, but they all cost extra. I kept mine simple and only added chicken. The overall price of the regular salad was about $13. A little pricey, but you get a good amount of food. This establishment moves quick and you do not have to wait long for your food. For the price you pay you get a LOT more than Simply Salad and there are much more choices to customize your salad, or even get your salad into a wrap. The salad bar has over 50 items. I put the following in my salad: -romaine lettuce mix -spinach -kale -jicama -pumpkin seeds -peas -alfalfa sprouts -sliced carrots -cubed beets -cucumbers -chopped hard boiled egg -kidney beans -halved grapes (they also have strawberries and pineapple) -radishes -black olives (they also have green) -tomatoes -green peas -corn You can pick unlimited toppings and mix-ins including raw vegetables, nuts, cheese, egg, olives, etc. for the base price of $8 for a small and $9 for a large salad. If you want protein it is like $3.50-$5 for chicken, fish or even crab. The salad is supposed to come with bread, but they ran out and sadly I didn't get any (the bread of the day was bacon wheat). You get $2 off during happy hour which is Mon through Friday in the afternoon until closing! That meant that my large salad was only $7. It was big enough to eat half now and the other half later. They toss your salad together with the dressing, and you can get the dressing on the side too. I was able to get an extra dressing this way. The dressings are all labeled with the calorie counts and I love that they have 2 low calorie no fat dressings that taste delicious. Most of the dressings are 300 calories for a scoopful but the sun dried tomato and the mango dressings are only 35 calories for a scoop. The mango is pureed fruit with yogurt so it's not fake tasting. You can sample the dressings. I also got their tomato soup, which was a bit too on the creamy side instead of the tomato-y side. It came with the most amazing breadcrumbs (wow!) and pita chips (yum!). I will definitely be back. Salata is located at FIGat7th downstairs in the courtyard. I decided to try this place because I honestly wasn't too hungry during lunch and didn't want anything too heavy. The line at the food court was also the shortest. This is like a subway for salads. You pick your base and then you pick your ingredients. They package it all together for you, and then you are on your way. Honestly in my opinion I was shocked how much the total was. For my small salad I had to pay $14. Salad is salad yes I know! I do like the variation they have somethings the things you might not even imagine but Salata has it. Here we go Downtown LA right in the middle of 7th and Fig. The portions are pretty sizable containers, it can be a good costly 10-11 dollars which is what you get for. The tomato soup is off the chain it's definitely good but you have to crave it. It's not watery nor to thick it has a good taste. I got the "bowl" which is really a cup for 5 dollars and some change I added another piece of bread to dip, but the little pinky size bread is one dollar for the roll. Management before was pretty cool on hooking you up before with another piece. Not saying it should happened every time but for sure the rolls got smaller and more of a price than a bargain. You order as you go, similar to Chipotle, and you start with your base salad options. Then, you select unlimited toppings, such as carrots, tomatoes, sprouts, etc. The various toppings looked fresh and nothing looked past its prime. Next, you pick a salad dressing and you aren't limited to the standard ranch and thousand island dressings. Then, you can add a protein for an added cost. Some options are grilled herb chicken, pesto chicken, turkey, shrimp, and salmon (a premium protein). Next, you can add crunchy toppings, such as almonds, walnuts, or sesame sticks. Finally, you can supplement your salad with a piece of bread. I ordered a small salad with grilled herb chicken. It was filling and a good lunch portion. I usually come to this location like every other day when I don't bring lunch to work, since I told myself to always buy a salad when I forget lunch (which happens a lot) I take lunch around 2 pm so when I get there the line is usually short or just me. I am always greeted by one of the workers. I always get the regular salad for $9 since the small is $8 anyways. The ingredients that I see that they have displayed usually always look fresh. I usually pass on the protein since it is an additional charge, but they do have chopped bacon at the very end so I ALWAYS add that to my salad. A simple question about why pepper isn't available as an option for a 13 dollar salad turned into a confrontation. I used to go to this Salata location all the time and recently placed an online order. The order went through, and I received an email and text confirmation that my order will be ready for delivery in 40 mins. An hour later, I received a notification that my order was canceled, with no explanation, and they still charged me the $50+. I have called the store 4 times, left 3 emails, and called the corporate office. No one is answering my messages, and I have still not received my refund. This is awful business practices, customer service, and fraudulent charges. A charge should only be processed when services or products are rendered. I'm never going here or another Salata again. If one store can do this, then there's no trust in other stores being honest. read more

Not worth the money or time. My husband and I walked over to Fig &7th after the fit expo. I wanted a salad and he went to another restaurant in the food court area. I stood in line waiting for someone to help me and they only had two employees, one of which seemed to be ready to leave and end their shift. By the time I was finally acknowledged, a line of people had formed behind me and my husband already had his food and was ready to sit down. This is a good option, especially if you are trying to eat healthy. You first choose a salad or a wrap. They offer two sizes of salad.I chose the large and it filled me up nicely. The small might be enough if I was not very hungry. Then you select your lettuce type. From there you pick from a long line of vegetable, protein, cheese and dressing options. Each add on item has a little card that tells you how many calories it has. It really helps you understand how much you are putting into your body. This is especially helpful with the dressings. Once you your salad is made they mix it up for you. The salad was tasty. The ingredients were all fairly good. The only issue is with the price. It is a lot for a salad. I get it somewhat since it is a very labor intensive process, but it is still more than alternatives. If it was a little more affordable I could justify a four star rating. read more

I'm super surprised with how much I loved this wrap! This was a $1 promo on the Ritual app, but you were allowed to build your own, and pay for add-ons like meat. A veggie wrap would be $8 and you can add all the ingredients you want (not including meat). I was craving some sweet but savory today, and the healthier the better. This hit the spot! I'm super picky about my wraps, and hate soggy ones. This wrap didn't get soggy even though they did a nice light dressing over all the ingredients. Salata is one of the relatively new additions in the FIGat7th food court next to Indus. It's one of the "make your own salad bars" chains you will see in DTLA. You can order a regular salad, small salad or salad wrap for about $7-$8. With the option to choose from the mix of salads, toppings, and dressings there is a variety to pick and it is unlimited toppings. Salads are already sitting there and all the workers do is to put it in the salad bowl and mix. There's no chopping of ingredients since everything is precut. The line moves pretty quickly so don't be discouraged if it looks a little long. My gripe is the quality of the salad and toppings. The salad portion was a little too small for a regular size. It didn't taste that fresh either but maybe it's because it's already precut. The toppings were okay and the dressing was subpar. I would choose Simply Salad over Salata any day because you can taste the quality and freshness over there than here. read more

Located in the Fig at 7th shopping plaza, this restaurant can be found in the food court on the lower level. When you enter, you'll want to look waaay in the back and to the corner, right near the Indus stall. If you still can't see it, walk toward the Five Guys stall and it'll hit you right in the face because it has a LARGE green wall that you can't miss. It is an odd location but when you see the amount of options for your salad/wrap, you'll understand the need. The ambiance/decor of the place is minimal. The first thing you'll see is the giant, green wall that is covered in a few pictures of the food as well as the menu. There is the glass case that has all the different options you can add to your salad or wrap. As you move to the end of the counter, you'll see the cash register and if you are facing the cash register, to the right is where all the beverages are stored. Service is terrific. As soon as you get to the front the staff greets you and starts prepping your order. They walk with you through each "station" and mix in whatever you like. They'll make suggestions of what flavors go well together and they'll even let you sample the dressings to let help you make a better decision. At the end they'll assemble it all into a container and get you going on your way. Food wise, the variety of options and styles of assembly are awesome! I've been here a few times and have not had a bad experience yet. I usually go with a salad of Romaine Hearts and then pile on the toppings which include garbanzo, jalapenos, chopped egg, croutons, carrots and chicken or turkey. Add some pita chips to go and you got yourself a real heavy lunch/dinner. Salads for $8, bigger salad for $9 and the non-protein toppings are included & they've got a lot of them. Since you can load the salads, it is a better deal than Simply, but I'll still hit simply salad for their wraps. They had way more toppings than I can remember, but I like that they have jicama and fruit options, today they were strawberries, grapes, oranges and apples, they might have had others, not sure.
