We love how consistently delicious the food is at Salsa in Plano. This family restaurant is in an easy to get to location within a shopping center, has plenty of parking, and is large and spacious. They have happy hour menus for food and drink. This place gets crowded quick due to its citywide popularity, so get there early Thursday through Saturday evenings. I recommend the pineapple mojito and something from the enchilada menu. Ask for the very special hot sauce. If you're lucky, they made it fresh when your there. They don't have it everyday. Man, I'd forgotten about this place. I've been here before and liked it. They've definitely fixed it up quite a bit since my last visit. Went back today, had Bryan's Tacos with chicken. They wound up being soft corn tortillas with grilled chicken, monterrey jack cheese, and grilled green onions, served with charro beans and rice. And it was just fantastic. The service was spot on, with the owner stopping by my table to make sure everything was up to expectations. The waiter was prompt with refills, which was nice as well. The black bean dip is a must have - it's served with the chips, very similar to what you would get at Gloria's. On my way out the owner was at the register; he introduced himself and asked how everything was. Very friendly guy, he obviously cares a lot about his business. This is the first restaurant to survive more than a year or so in this particular location as well, so he's doing something right. read more

LOTS of chicken AND spinach. Somehow the spinach wasn't wilted...impressive. Tasty too. Place itself...may have cost them a star...just by the looks. Better cleanup of the tables/floor? Chicken Fajitas - the best chicken fajitas I've had in town so far! Real nice little spot. Wife and I were looking for somewhere close to home to eat last night since we did not feel like cooking. Decided we would come to Salsa and give it a try and we were not disappointed. The staff is very friendly and very welcoming. The chips, salsa and bean dip were good, but the salsa isn't anything extraordinary. I really enjoy a good, fresh salsa and this one was ok. My wife ordered the brisket fajitas platter which she enjoyed while I got the Mar y Tierra which was delicious and the portions were a good size. I went here today for my birthday with my family. It was the first time any of us had been here. I had heard good things about it from friends and from people on the next door app. I decided my birthday was a good excuse to come give it a shot. Let me tell you. This food was incredible. Salsa Tex Mex is one of our regular haunts now. We love the Black Been dip provided along with traditional Chips & Salsa when you sit down. The staff have always been attentive and friendly. Quite often the owner will visit and ensure quality. Food comes out quickly. Enchiladas, chalupas, tacos, soup, all have been very delicious! This is not my favorite place for fajitas, but the fajitas here are still good. Prices are very reasonable I've been visiting here since it's opening, and the place has maintained consistency in flavor and quality of food. The at last can now serve alcohol (took them a good while to get a license.) You know it is a good sign when there is almost always a wait for a table. We used to always be able to get a seat, but word has gotten out and at dinner time there seems to always be a 5 to 15 minutes wait, but it is worth it! read more

We are falling more in love with Salsa every time we go. Somehow it's become our go-to place in Plano (other than Senor Locos which is...HELLO, amazing), and it's within walking distance of our home. That's dangerous because everyone knows that calories don't count if you can walk them off on your way to and from a restaurant. What's awesome there? The queso blanco, the taco salad and the combo fajitas with shrimp. Even more awesome? The frozen tamarind margarita with the craziest spicy-salt rim. I can't describe it. Just order it. You'll thank me. Chips are quick to arrive to the table, along with a nice salsa and black bean dip. They keep those refilled (bonus) and are also great at refilling water. I sometimes think you have to wait a while for service here, but it's nothing as dreadful as Mex-i-Go, so it's not a big deal. And I could work on eating slower, anyway - particularly when the food is as tasty as it is at Salsa. read more

I want to take a moment and commend the take out staff working here tonight! They were obviously getting more Togo orders than any average night, and they were doing an amazing job! Wait times might have been a little longer than quoted, but they were keeping an amazingly positive attitude and more than doing their best!! I am a restaurant manager and I would be proud to have any of the staff I dealt with tonight work for me! Thank you for a great dinner and showing the best of what restaurant people are! Decent Tex-Mex in Plano! This is a family restaurant in a strip mall with a casual atmosphere and a huge menu. This place has been expanded and takes up two storefronts in a little shopping center. On our first visit, it was pretty much packed, most tables sat and they'd made the most of their space, so that translates into a lot of customers. Service was fine, despite the crowd, they are clearly used to doing a lot of business in the evenings. Chips and salsa leave much to be desired. The salsa reminded me of El Fenix. Tomato heavy, no spice, and tastes like it comes from a jar. For reader reference, I prefer Chuy's style...fresh and spicy. Salsa needs onions, cilantro, and jalapeno. I don't want to eat chips and marinara sauce. The chips themselves aren't hot or freshly made. They're just ok. They do bring out a warm bean dip, which I see that other reviewers like. I'm not a fan of beans so I can't comment on the flavor, but perhaps you can overlook the lackluster salsa and store bought chips if you're into bean dip. On our second visit, we did get a cup of queso (blanco) and it was hot and tasty. A little bit runny but still good. Again, for reference...I think Torchy's has the best queso in town, so this was a 3 out of 5 star queso. The kid was happy with his kids meal, we enjoyed the appetizer sampler, and my husband likes his enchiladas. He compares them to El Fenix enchiladas so that makes him happy. We got the sopapillas for dessert. They were better on our first visit...they burned them on our second visit. We didn't complain but really they should have taken one look at them and made another batch, they were so dark. Overall, there aren't a lot of great tex mex options in this particular area of Frisco/Plano, so when we don't want to drive to El Fenix or Chuy's, this is an option. We will probably be back..but not that often. I'd say this is in the vicinity of Ernesto's or Cafe Del Rio, slightly better than Mesa's, better than OTB or Manny's. The problem is that none of the ones I've just mentioned...none of them stand out as being particularly good or bad. I went for lunch on a Thursday, but ordered Shrimp Nachos from the dinner menu. It came with a pile of jalepenos and guacamole... awesome! The shrimp and tomato part was like bruchetta and contrasted well with the crunch of the chip under, but they lost me on all the cheese. I guess I should have known... Tex-Mex! Haha. Lots of white cheese and a glob of sour cream in the middle. Oh well :) Overall, their food was good - I'd recommend it to my friends - but it's not my taste. I went there last night on a recommendation from a friend. It was busy so they must do something right, not at my table. Margarita on the rocks couldn't even taste the tequila. Ordered beef fajitas with corn tortillas. Food arrived sizzling but no tortillas. I asked server about tortillas and he said their coming. Sizzle gone by the time the flour tortillas arrived. Waitress would just disappear for long periods. Food was ok at best but the bean dip and salsa were good. Overall, I won't be back as there is to much good tex mex in the area. read more

They have all the staples and they're all great. And, lots of specials - which are even better. Brisket Enchiladas or the Brisket Chile Relleno? Ridiculously good. Pollo de la Casa? Also delicious. However, they recently added mole to the menu. As a connoisseur of mole, I had some reservations - but, I was delighted to be wrong. If you like mole, their mole is legit. More like a coloradito versus red or black, but no less tasty. I do wish the Pollo en Mole was over a grilled quarter versus the breast only, but it is still great. The Chicken Enchiladas en Mole are also wonderful. Bean dip is something you'll want to bathe in. And, I would also make a hot tub out of their charro beans. I have always seen this restaurant driving by but never tried it until the other day. The service was good, and the food was good. They start you off with chips and salsa as well as black bean dip. The salsa had a tiny kick to it, but I love anything spicy. The black bean dip was really good. We started off with the white queso, and it was fantastic. I ordered the skinny margarita, and it was a pretty strong drink but worth the $$$$. I ordered the ground beef taco and chicken enchilada plate. I was already full but tried the taco and enchilada. Stay away......This has to be the worst dinner experience my family had in a very long time. We ordered the combination appetizer, three adults fajitas and three kids fajitas. All 6 fajitas came right out but before the appetizer and they were just warm. Not your typical sizzling fajitas you normally get at any restaurant. We also didn't get any tortillas until the fajitas were cold. We tried waving at a couple of the waiters but they kept walking away! That's when we called the manager. Once, I explained the issue, he replied rudely "sorry, I don't know what else to do!" didn't offer to fix the issues or at least redo the fajitas. My family goes to Salsa TexMex very often and the restaurant has never disappointed with their food. It is a nice place to eat and the owner and servers are nice and polite. My favorite dish is Camarones de la casa. I always replace the rice for extra grilled vegetables. It is very good!
