Highly recommend coming here for those visiting Bar Harbor! It was my first time in the city and dinner here was great. The staff were efficient and friendly. They even gave my friends and me some free sapodillas with honey to try as a welcome. They were super fresh, warm, and pillowy. (7.8/10) It was my first time having this type of bread and I thoroughly enjoyed it We ordered the carne asada tacos, the carnitas tacos, the sapodilla plate and the chicken taquitos plate to share. The carne asada and carnitas tacos were both delicious. The meat was well cooked and seasoned and the portions were filling (7.5/10). We got medium salsa on everything and be warned that the medium has a kick to it. The taquitos plate was standard and exactly what I would expect. The chicken inside was still moist, and the shell was crispy (7/10). The sapodilla plate had 2 big sapodillas and a generous portion of chicken, rice, and beans on it (8.5/10). Despite the large portions, the dishes tasted fresh and I didn't feel too heavy afterwards. The prices here are reasonable, the service is great, and the food is tasty. I would come back for sure!

Great spot to check out if you're in Bar Harbor. The staff is super friendly and everything we ordered came out super quick. We decided on the enchilada and taquitos plates and both were flavorful and super filling. I loved the both came with rice and beans as well. After a long day out, this is the perfect spot to grab dinner in the area!

The inspired Los Angeles Street Tacos.

When a restaurant claims to be inspired by the iconic Olvera Street in Los Angeles, it's important to get the details right, especially when it comes to the salsa. Unfortunately, the salsa we tried lacked flavor and was a bit too spicy for the taquitos. We ordered the taquitos plate, and I noticed a few areas for improvement. The romaine lettuce could be replaced with shredded lettuce for a more authentic touch, and the dish could benefit from more Mexican crema and cotija cheese. Additionally, the red onions and cilantro would be better if they were chopped more finely. Considering the portion sizes, I felt the pricing didn't quite match the experience. The inspired Los Angeles street tacos were decent, but again, the red onions and cilantro could use finer chopping for better flavor integration. As someone who hails from Los Angeles and cherishes the taquitos from Olvera Street, I was excited to try a restaurant that draws inspiration from that experience. While I appreciate the effort, I found it didn't quite meet my expectations. If you ever find yourself in Los Angeles, I highly recommend visiting Cielito Lindo, a beloved food stand known for its hand-rolled taquitos and delicious avocado sauce since 1934. It's truly a must-try!

Delicious and flavorful food, quick and friendly service, and wonderful atmosphere! Would recommend to anyone visiting the Bar Harbor/Acadia area!

Bar Harbor is arguably one of the biggest tourist destinations of Maine. Thankfully I have a brother living in the area so can experience some of it especially during slower season. During our recent visit up this was the decision for dinner one night and it did not disappoint. We got lucky and grabbed the parking spot right in front. Everyone at the table had two margaritas with total trying 4 different kinds and they were all sooooooo good! The monthly margarita was unique with some sweet and spice along with a lollipop that came with it too. The chips and salsa were solid with the salsa being so more unique than most salsas are in color and flavor. Food menu is small but has enough for I would assume most people who stop in. My wife enjoyed their carnitas tacos while I enjoyed the carnitas enchiladas. My brother also got their sopaipillas with honey that was a delicious end of the meal. Service was pretty solid although slow at times. My brother informed me they recently took over the current spot they have and their last spot was extremely small. While I would not call it a large space it seems to be massive compared to what they had. So hopefully they can feed more patrons in the new location! If you are in the area and want Mexican style food I think this is the spot to check out! I look forward to returning at some point!

This was our first time here. Mexican (they are from New Mexico) can be a nice change from all the seafood options on MDI. They are located on Main Street in downtown Bar Harbor almost across from Blaze. So you'll need to do street parking or find one of the hidden pay lots. It was pretty packed but they have the nice text waiting system. Was told 45 min wait it ended up being 20 minutes. They have a nice bar area to wait or you could just walk around. Chips and salsa are complimentary if you request but we got the guacamole, very nice large size. Super friendly staff. We found out they are from New Mexico so one or 2 items she had said those were New Mexico specialities. Drinks were good, cheese enchiladas were awesome. Would definitely come back. They will have a covered outdoor deck for seating as well.

The food here is authentic Mexican with a touch of New Mexico specialties like Blue corn chips and calabacitas. We had chicken enchiladas with Christmas sauce (red and green sauce) and LA style street tacos with carnitas. Delicious dinner with just the right amount of heat. Who knew Bar Harbor had such a gem!

I got the calabacitas enchiladas. BEST ENCHILADAS EVER!!!!!! Wow!! I need to move to New Mexico if all their enchiladas are like this!!! The staff and owner are so sweet and kind! They were very accommodating to not having any cross contamination with meat. I hope they continue to thrive!!

I was looking for quick takeout for dinner and this place was close to my hotel so I decided to give it a try. It says it's a New Mexico style restaurant from the sign. The place is small with not much seating. The server working the bar wasn't the friendliest but I want dining in so I won't let that affect my review. I ordered the carnitas sopaipillas. I was told it would take about 25 minutes for it to be ready so I left and came back. The place was packed when I came back around 7:30pm. The food was well packed and I was pleasantly surprised when I opened it. The serving size was pretty good for the price. First I'll start with the sopaipillas. I've never had them before but they were like pillowy fried dough (almost like a chalupa but not folded). The carnitas were tender with a little crisp to them. They definitely sautéed them more after shredding which added more flavor and texture. The refried brand were soft and creamy with a surprising amount of heat (spice) to them which I enjoyed. Lastly the rice was the perfect compliment to eat with everything. Overall I thoroughly enjoyed the meal. I came in not expecting much from a New Mexican style restaurant all the way in Maine but it was way better than expected. I would definitely come back and dine in. Also the margaritas they were making looked legit with real limes instead of sour mix.

Really good! This is a really cute restaurant. It's pretty small but there seemed like there was enough seating. It's filled with natural light and cute pillows. Service was good! They don't have many staff but I still got everything really quickly. Food was great! My sopapilla seemed super fresh. It was warm and fluffy. The carnitas were amazing. I love when carnitas have crispy edges. Yum! They hit the right balance of fat / spice / etc. The guacamole was great too (although not as much of a deal as the rest of the food).

We weren't able to get a reservation last minute so we took our luck with getting seats at their small bar. (Side note - we accidentally sat down at the bar at the more casual place next door before we realized we were at the wrong place!) The bar seats were very comfortable and we enjoyed dining there - there were 2 musicians playing guitars throughout the whole meal. I must commend the bartender for her amazing service throughout the night. Despite how busy it was, she was on top of things - even remembering to remind the host to turn on the overhead music as soon as the guitar players took a break. To start, we shared the tostada - very tasty, large portion of brisket & the mango pico very good. For our mains, I had the lobster moqueca and my husband had the filet. My entrée was delicious. The broth was so tasty with large chunks of lobster. My husband's steak entree was so-so - it came out medium rare despite asking for medium. He didn't really like the potatoes on the side either. Since my husband doesn't eat fish, there weren't a ton of entrée options for him. We still really enjoyed our meal and had no room for dessert. The meal was on the pricier side since we also had a couple rounds of cocktails but it was worth it. We liked the atmosphere and being in the action at the bar.

We wanted to sit at the bar but, there weren't 3 seats next to each other so, we ended up at a table right next to bar. The server greeted us and was very pleasant. He took the drink order and hadn't brought anything out when bar seats opened and we asked him to move. The bartender was extremely rude and said "no-we don't allow you to move tables". We even offered to pay out with server and she copped an attitude and again said no. Since she had a bad attitude anyway, we decided to just stay at the table. We ordered oysters and a few other apps. The drinks came out, 2 mixed cocktails and a glass of Meomi Pinot noir. Immediately, the wine drinker said the wine smelled a little vinegary. Upon tasting she said it was absolutely old and had us taste it as well. It was awful. Everyone at the table is an avid wine drinkers and know the difference between a bad wine and spoiled wine. We called the server over, explained the wine had turned and asked to change it for another option. He turned to the bartender who was overhearing the conversation and she snapped "I just opened the bottle when I poured that glass". You just don't know what you ordered and don't like it". We explained we are very familiar with Meomi and it's actually one we regularly drink. The server was uncomfortable and said "we aren't allowed to take things off the bill so you have to pay for it even if you don't drink it". WHAT? Craziest thing I've ever heard. We asked him to go get the manager. After a few minutes, the manager came out and said "we can't take it off the bill just because you don't like it". We explained the wine was bad. The manager said "that's not what the bartender said". So basically the bartender had lied about why we were sending it back. The manager asked to see the bottle she supposedly just opened. She pulls it up and it's almost empty! When we pointed out she lied about just opening it, she realized she was busted and said "maybe it was yesterday". She clearly had no idea when it was open. The manager then told us she isn't allowed to take items off the bill without the owner approving. Fine-go tell the owner to come out. She went to the back and then came out again and said "the owner doesn't drink wine so they don't know if it's bad or not". Ummm-maybe take a wine class when you own a restaurant?!? The distributors offer them for free for gods sake. The manager was apologetic and told us they can't take things off the bill no matter what because the owner says "people are scammers and just try to get things for free all them time". We hadn't even drank it so not sure what we were trying to get for free. Long story, they don't care about the quality of what they are serving or the guest experience. The manager did personally remove it as she agreed we weren't trying to "scam" anything. I hope she didn't have to pay out of pocket. We paid for the remaining balance of food (which had come out while this was going on and sat there getting cold) and drinks and left without finishing anything. It wasn't worth allowing their poor attitudes ruin what had otherwise been a great day. We went back down the street to Barnacles. The oysters and service are outstanding and worth every penny. Visited 2 nights in a row!

I don't understand how you can have nachos with no cheese. Also, was advertised with sour cream and there was no sour cream. Lastly, I had lobster earlier today at a different restaurant.
