What an interesting experience. The untraditional flavors are so fun! My 8 year old and I enjoy our little dates and this did not disappoint. We were promptly greeted and the tasting began. I love that their tasting spoons were little silver spoons instead of disposable plastics. It makes sense because you want to try ALL the flavors! I tired the peaches and cream galette, the Gruyère and tomato custard tart, freckled mint chocolate chip, strawberry honey balsamic with black pepper; I chose the strawberry honey balsamic with black pepper. My son settled on vanilla and sprinkles. He said it was the best vanilla he's ever had! Since it is so hot, I wasn't in the mood for the chocolate flavors. I cannot wait to come back and try the rest.

So delicious! The flavors are extremely unique. I opted for the peaches & cream which was very creamy and delicious. You are able to sample any flavors and they even have a fun spoon drop on the side of the counter for when you are done sampling you drop it in! There is a lot of merchandise and toppings available for sale as well. Patio seating is available for seating. Xo -BB

Being National Ice Cream Month...I need to add a review of my favorite ice cream shop - Salt and Straw. Salt and Straw is a chain with many locations across the US. My local Salt and Straw is the location in Gilbert adjacent to Agritopia in the Epicenter. This place is always busy for a reason- fast and friendly service and delicious ice cream. It's a smaller shop that's mostly a waiting line and the counter, but has a little extra space for their freezer (for take home pints) and swag rack. The employees are always helpful and I never feel rushed when asking for a few samples. Their ice cream uses top quality ingredients and they have a specialized churning process to make it very creamy. The best part are the 'out of the box' ingredients you won't find in other ice cream parlors. These ingredients can augment the base flavor, add a tasty wrinkle or help neutralize a typically dominant flavor. On this trip, I got a scoop of Huckleberry Oat Crisp with Foraged Porcini. It's on their Monthly Menu Series and limited time, along with 4 other unique flavors. It was amazing and worth sampling at a minimum. They also have traditional flavors but with their special take on it...like the Double Fold Vanilla uses a lot more vanilla beans to really exacerbate the flavor. Thanks Salt and Straw for being consistently good and having an amazing staff and amazing product.

I do love the unique flavors at salt & straw but it is annoying that there's nowhere to sit inside. I had to eat in my car as it would've quickly melted in the heat outside. I tried several flavors and got a double scoop with one of them split. I picked strawberry pretzel salad, chocolate caramel smoked budino, and coffee & stone fruit marmalade. It was a delicious pairing.

They have the most unique flavors and combinations you can imagine. Staff is very nice and ask if you want to sample any flavors. Had a couple samples and decided on peanut butter brittle caramel fudge in a waffle cup. It was very tasty. Wife had a chocolate gooey brownie in a waffle cup and she really enjoyed it.

Originally from Portland, Salt and Straws have been popping up in a few places across the states. Sweet ice cream (and cakes) and sweet service. I'm drawn to more simple unique flavors and I think S&S has more decadent interesting combinations. Example are Rhubarb Crumble with Toasted Anise and Strawberry Honey Balsamic with Black Pepper. I tried the sweet pear and blue cheese and you definitely taste the blue cheese...surprisingly good! Honey Lavender is also a tried-and-true flavor. A scoop (cup, cone, waffle) is kind of pricey, like many places now. $6.25 and if you do a split scoop it's .50 more. Pints are $12 which is a better "deal" if your family likes ice cream. Ice cream cakes were $79 :o Service is very friendly and they sell things product memorabilia like tshirts. There is limited outdoor seating. The Gilbert souvenir store offers 10% off if you bring a receipt from S&S. There are a lot of eateries in this area.

Stopped by today to try on of their new August flavors. I tried the wildflower honey and lemon chess pie. It was really good! The employees were nice and offered samples.

This ice cream shop had the most fun variety in flavors I have ever been to. Not only was the service so kind and patient but the ice cream was phenomenal. I choose a homemade waffle bowl. The olive oil ice cream was outstanding. Creamy; not overpowering sweet nor to savory. Just perfectly balanced. I added a scoop of strawberry coconut water gelato to make it exceptional. This company is from Oregon. I loved the vibe.

We stopped by the new Salt & Straw at Epicenter and were blown away by the staff. Even with the usual long lines you find here, the team was incredibly friendly, patient, and welcoming. We grabbed three pints to go--the seasonal pumpkin tiramisu and bananas fosters flavors as well as a classic, pear and blue cheese. (Sorry, I forgot the actual names.) They were all amazing and our family polished off all three pints by the end of the night.

A chain ice cream shop like this is always going to be good. With flavors coming out every month, it's hard not to get something. Especially for the non-dairy people like myself, they always have options! The workers are also friendly and they work fast no matter how long the line is. They have limited tables, but the surrounding area has plenty of seating.

I've been to this location a couple times now and every experience is great. I love that they never make me feel bad for trying different flavors. I love trying their new monthly flavors because they are always crazy and adventurous! I order the Peanut butter brittle in a waffle bowl and it was great. The second time I came in I order the honey lavender. The peanut brittle was my favorite out of the two! It's super cute inside, I just wish they had some seating inside but they do have outdoor seating.

They have the most strangest yet unique flavors of ice cream I've ever had! There has to be some science behind these flavor pairings because they have flavors I would never think to get but taste so amazing! The workers were so nice and let us know that they offer unlimited samples. My favorites during this visit were pineapple updside down cake, coffe & love nuts, and salted, malted, chocolate chip cookie dough.

Salt & Straw is hands down my favorite ice cream place. It's more affordable than some I've gone to in the past and has such a creative and upscale feel! Their seasonal menus are so much fun to sample + choose from. I especially love the employees and the information they have about how the ice cream is made or fun tidbits about the inspiration behind the flavor. The only downside is this place is so popular that going during the evenings or weekends is guaranteed to have a line. Great for them, bummer for me! They do blow through it pretty quick though.

Especially since my boyfriend loves ice cream. Today we made a lunch date when he was visiting town, complete with ice cream to cool us down on this warm July day in Arizona. We opted to eat in my car with air conditioning, though they have bench seating outside. In cooler months, I'm sure that seating is nice to sit at to enjoy your treat. What We Ordered: - Monkey Business scoop in a dipped waffle bowl: My boyfriend throughly enjoyed and said it was very banana forward; which is a plus for him. I personally hate banana, so he had something for once that I didn't take a girlfriend bite out of. - S'mores scoop in a dipped waffle bowl: Very interesting to have the base be graham cracker, but I really enjoyed. Love the little chocolate bits to add a crunch as you eat, though the mini marshmallows have a weird texture to me. Still a solid scoop, and I'll try other flavors when we return. Definitely looking forward to the location opening on Signal Butte, but glad we didn't wait until that opened to try. Delicious and I'm sure I'll visit the new location opening by my house.

First, the location itself is very small and cramped inside, and there isn't any outdoor seating, which made it difficult to enjoy our ice cream. The biggest disappointment here was the customer service. My friend ordered a milkshake for her two toddlers to share and politely asked if the extra half could be poured into a second cup. The employee had to ask the manager, who immediately said no. My friend explained that other Handel's locations have happily done this before, and even offered to pay for the extra cup. The manager still refused and told her she'd have to purchase two separate milkshakes instead. The request wasn't for extra product--just a second cup for two small children to share. What made the experience worse was the manager's attitude. She came across as rude and dismissive rather than trying to help find a reasonable solution. We understand that every location has its own policies, but customer service goes a long way. Unfortunately, between the cramped space and the poor experience with the manager, we won't be returning to this location.

This is part of a cluster of good restaurants of different types along Central Avenue in Uptown. Parking available right in front of the entrance as well as around back in a private parking lot. I was so tempted by several items on the menu, but since I had just had a large lunch, I chose to try a single scoop of the Vietnamese coffee ice cream. So delicious and I loved the tiny specks of coffee. Hubs got a double scoop of strawberry ice cream, and my son got a strawberry shake. We all really enjoyed the interior and decor of the ice cream shop and the high-quality and good flavors of the ice cream. Service is really great here. The ladies were really working hard and going as fast as they could, and it didn't look easy scooping the large scoops of frozen hard ice cream. There was a line out the door on the Saturday afternoon that we showed up that moved quickly.
