Went here for my birthday. Food was great. Two of us had steaks that were cooked to perfection. One of us had the chicken fried steak, which also was good. Gravy was served on the side, as requested, so we could dip the French fries in it. All our food came with a salad or soup. Baked potato soup was great and had a little kick to it. Bread comes with diner and it is great with a great butter, with a trace of honey in it. Restaurant is clean and has rustic decoration, though it is a little dark. Haven't had a bad steak yet. And the Pats ribeye has to be mine and my husband's favorite cut of meat.

Really wanted a steak and decided to try this location. Ordered salmon, mashed potatoes and asparagus. I requested a bake potato soup to go. Received my order and was unable to eat it. The salmon was over cooked and it took my server at least 20 minutes before I was able to inform her that I was not satisfied with the meal. She stated that she would reorder the meal to go. The manager brought the new order out to go. I asked him about my soup and was told that he didn't realize that I didn't get it. He sent the server back to let me know that there was no soup left. Extremely disappointed in this location, hands down the worst in the Houston metropolitan area! read more

Catalina is such an incredible server.. she absolutely made our experience unforgettable!! It was unbelievable how much the kitchen messed up, with no fault to our server. We were a table of 5, and our experience started out impeccable. Catalina was friendly, hospital, fast and reliable. Each entrée would've came out perfect, prior to how the appetizers and drink refills already did; if only the kitchen knew how to cook steaks correctly. As a server myself I'm clearly aware that every mistake was completely to blame on the kitchen. It upsets me to see incredible service ruined by epic kitchen failure. It was so obvious that none of the mistakes were made by our server. In fact, that only thing that would make me even consider coming back, was Catalina's service. Due to every steak being extremely overcooked after ordered medium rare, was extremely upsetting. I'm not coming to a steakhouse and ordering a porterhouse delivered completely well done. Especially since we had already waited 45 minutes for a table. All I want to say is thank you Catalina.. and this restaurant is lucky to have such great front of house. Today was my wife's birthday... My son and her ordered medium well stakes and I specifically ordered mine well done... And told him kind of joking because I did not want to seem like an ass but I asked if he could make sure there is absolutely no pink on my steak... my wife also ordered some A1 sauce... When the food came the A1 sauce was spelt all over my sweet potato fries so I gave the little container of what was left to my wife since she is the one who wanted it... I seen them cut into their steaks and they look either medium, or medium rare... but they did not seem to care too much and still continue to eat theirs... The waiter asked if everything was OK and I said I do not really want to complain, but the A1 sauce is all over my sweet potato fries... I figured they would probably just bring me some more fresh ones in another little plate so I can continue to enjoy my steak... he took my whole plate and I was sure that my steak would come back cold... Well, I did have me some nice fresh sweet potato fries with a cold steak once it returned and when I cut into it, it was just as rare as my wife and sons steak... I did not want to make a fuss since my wife's was enjoying her steak on her birthday and I said to them that I was already full from my salad and bread... When my son noticed that the little sliced that I put into my steak was cherry red he told my wife, and she said to let them know so they can cook it... I was afraid it would come back like a hockey puck... I guess the waiter overheard us and said if he could please take the steak so we can take care of it and I was very hesitant on saying OK but I did... It came back and at least it was not rare, but it was medium, and there was still pink... I guess I'll put a wet napkin and throw it in the microwave for a bit in the morning with some scrambled eggs... I played it off pretty good not to make a stink about it with the wife saying I was already full from the bread and salad, but I want you guys to know you F'd up my evening dinner..... i'm not wanting to take pictures of food so I did not want to do that and I don't like even having my cell phone out when I'm enjoying my meal... but there was nothing to enjoy about my sweet potato fries coming out with A1 sauce, drenched all over them, and then bringing me a rare steak and taking it back and still bringing it not the way I wanted it... I've been here before and always had a pretty much very good experience but this was just ridiculous... I don't mind dropping 150 bucks on a couple of drinks and great food but never have my son and my wife ever brought their food home... Later they told me that their steaks were really not cooked the way they wanted them... But they hung in there. I just couldn't do it... My wife and I ate dinner here last week to celebrate several occasions in 2024 we had to miss for various reasons. We have found it is the only steakhouse that consistently cooks the steaks to what you ordered . We always get the Maudeen's filet, medium rare. I always get it smothered (onions, mushrooms), with French fries. My wife gets a baked potato with hers. We both get a salad, hers with blue cheese dressing (which I hate) and I get Thousand Island. This time I tried the wedge salad and was told it only came with Ranch or Blue Cheese! I picked Ranch, fortunately for me, because that was the best salad I've ever had in my 77 years of being alive!! So, now Saltgrass has my favorite steak, salad and dessert (chocolate cake). I forgot to mention the people who make this epic, glorious meal possible. The staff has always been attentive and very gracious to us. Soup was lukewarm at best, one salad was fine, the other with hair in it. Okay gross but sent it back was offered another. It was okay. Salad drowning in dressing that was salty as hell. Main courses come out. Steaks were lukewarm trending towards cold. Cooked as ordered but awful. Sides were outright cold. Manager tried and failed to deliver any reasonable explanation for why no part of this meal was served in a manner consistent with basic food service. I will likely never return as I have never been so put off by the food and felt robbed/taken advantage of by the management. Ate here a couple days ago on the last night of our Texas vacation on a recommendation from a family member. What a terrific meal. Even my picky 12 year old cleaned his plate. Easily one of the best meals of our trip. Staff were professional, and we really liked the Texas motif. The sweet tea was even done right unlike most places we tried in TX. Unfortunately we have none of these steakhouses in the Northeast but we'll definitely keep an eye out if any cross our paths in future travels. read more
