Absolutely LOVE Saltgrass, this one is closest to our house but we visit them all. We went tomight with our two small children and LOVED EVERY BITE. Fast wonderful service and delicious food. I had the 9oz Filet with Oscar topping, brussels sprouts, fried asparagus and the baked potato soup tons of food. Mine was ordered medium and cooked to perfection, a little crisp on the outside but oh so tender and melt in your mouth. My husband had the cowboy ribeye, grilled asparagus, and house salad. Definitely one of my favorite places in Clear Lake. It's been a while since I came last, but once again it did not disappoint. Of course Friday Night dinner was slammed but the hostesses and wait staff had this place running like a well oiled machine. I brought a group of six including my adolescent children so our party was a little rowdy. We sat directly next to the fire place, which my kids loved. Our server was the lovely Ashley, and she was absolutely amazing; both helpful and personable. She made fantastic recommendations for my kids, and they are every last bite (miracle). My father ordered the blackened redfish and the only thing left were the bottom scales. I ordered the Prime Rib and was impressed with it's flavor and texture, melted in your mouth like butter. Drinks were topped off consistently, salad and appetizer plates and condiments were cleared quickly to keep the table neat and clean at all times. After dinner we ordered the cheesecake and carrot cake. Again, great recommendations from Ashley. I forgot how awesome the cheesecake here was. Three stars for this location and it's personnel. It was supposed to be a quick pick up for dinning in the car. Instead it started with a 25 minute wait for two kid's pizzas and nacho cheese with brisket, dictated by the to-go lady. After waiting 25 minutes, I entered the large to-go pickup area where another upset customer was arguing for a correction of his order. The to go lady asked for my name, I gave it and patiently waited another 5 or so minutes. Two other men come into the work space with the Togo lady & stood around. Another few minutes later, the to go lady asks for my name again. I give it, she checks the 3 bags in the area and grabs my bag. Finally she asked if I was a Landry's member. I give her my number, she gives the total, I give her cash and tip $2.00. I ask for paper napkins and she hesitates a bit but ultimately gives a small stack. Around the same time a man comes in and he is immediately greeted. It turns out he is a food delivery person. He gives the information from his phone and walks away with his food, followed by Merry Christmas. I walk out and distribute the now cold pizza to my child and proceed to eat the not so hot cheese dip with a room temperature chunk of brisket. So a frequent customer of Saltgrass enters with a young child and receives no hello, no goodbye and definitely no Merry Christmas. The two men in the pickup area never made an effort to help and my food was cold. Not impressed by the cold food and definitely not impressed by this locations rudeness. How is a restaurant out of mashed potatoes if you have potatoes for baking, butter, and salt? That screams to me that the mashed potatoes served here aren't made from scratch. Our server could have also done a much better job in ensuring that our dishes match what is advertised in the menu, and to make sure that our drinks were refilled every single time, because we had to ask for refills every time. The absolute rudest worst experience ever. Saltgrass should be ashamed to be represented by your hostess, Hope, and manager Luis, at your Webster location. Walked in Saturday night and it was a wait and crowded so we asked how long and showed our Salt Grass card. The very rude hostess, Hope, stated that the card didn't matter and was a 50-60min wait. We said ok and went to wait by bar. Looking around at quite a few empty tables and other guest leaving and hostess not sitting anyone we wait, order a drink and wait. 20minutes later I walk back up to hostess stand where a manager and hostess are standing. I tap her on the back to get her attention and she loudly says "get your hands off me" which not only shocks everyone around but in no way what so ever is tapping someone in the back to get their attention "putting your hands" on them. I asked why no one was being seated and Hope, being extremely dramatic, causes a scene. Luis the manager comes over and asks us to leave now, as Hostess falsely accuses in front of everyone that I put my hands on her. Your manager made the biggest scene and should never have acted so irresponsible or treated any customer the way he did. Yes it is a chain but what this chain does to keep their customer's satisfied! And that is why I frequently enjoying coming to Saltgrass however this is the first one that has not received a 4 or 5 star. It was a little packed for a Tuesday night and we did want to sit on the bar as we waited for our table for two, however the bartender took a little longer to make our drinks that he was then rushed to make them so we can sit with them. After we were seated we were greeted by our kind server, we ordered frozen sangria margaritas, and queso but since the service was a little slower than we wanted we went ahead and ordered all our food at the same time. I specifically ordered my steak medium but it was well done, I still ate a couple of bites before I realized that I was already full from my salad, drink, and chips with queso and my BBQ shrimp. Ultimately,I was a little disspointed on my steak and the slow service since we were there longer than we wanted, maybe I will just stick to my fave local Saltgrass. read more

I have mixed thoughts about this place. First off, the food isn't the issue...I ordered a 16oz porterhouse and the steak came out perfect and the sides were good as well. It's just when our server asked if I wanted soup or salad, I asked what soups came with the meal and what types of salad. She rambled off 6 or 7 different salad varieties and two soups, so I got a salad. She also asked if I wanted my garlic mashed potatoes regular or with bacon and cheese, so I got them with bacon and cheese. When the bill came, I was charged an extra $7 for the salad and loaded potatoes. So I questioned the up-charge, and she said "it's listed on the menu as an up-charge, so we don't mention it when ordering, you should have read the menu better". Seriously? How hard is it to say "For $1.99 you can get your potatoes with bacon and cheese, and these certain salads are an extra $4". She also added some unwanted attitude when explaining it to me. After speaking with a manager, the up-charges were removed and he apologized about her, but I don't think I will be coming back. read more

I've been to Saltgrass plenty of times and never had anything to complain about, but also nothing to particularly rave about, either. However, I went with my husband on a Sunday evening for dinner and everything started out normally. We ordered water for our drinks (nothing spectacular there) and ordered the Cheese Fries as an appetizer. My husband ordered the Hill Country Special (chicken, sausage and ribs) and I had the Brazos Chicken (highly recommend - YUM!). After more than a few minutes had passed, we thought that they had forgotten our appetizer. That thought was confirmed about 10 minutes later when our food arrived, sans the side salad and soup that was to accompany both our meals. The guy that brought our food asked if everything looked OK and we told him that we still needed the soup and salad and the missing appetizer. At that point I told him he could just take it off our bill - no harm, no foul. He was very apologetic and promptly brought our sides out. Shortly thereafter, we were greeted by a GM who apologized and told us he was going to "take care of us" for the trouble. We assured him it was no trouble and that we were fine. A few minutes later, our original waitress, now deeply apologetic (almost overly so) told us they were going to take care of the entire meal for us. Long story short (too late, I know) we had the waitress, manager and general manager all visit our table to make sure we were happy with the quality of the meal, went overboard to make sure we were pleased with the service after the original mistake and gave us dessert as well. Mistakes happen - I forget stuff ALL the time. And they weren't hurting for business, either; the place was packed even at 8pm. The food was great and even though I felt guilty eating their food for free, their business model screams of making the customer happy. We never carry cash, but luckily were able to scare up $12 between the two of us and left that as a tip and ran out before they could refuse it. Salty fare - everything about my visit was positive and would have earned a 4-star rating if not for the overkill on salt for my entire dish. It's possible it was just a mistake by the cook, but it's also possible they purposefully use a lot of salt on their dishes - having visited only once I can't say. 4 of us ate there yesterday. We were Seniors so they let us order off the Lunch menu on Saturday. 2 had tortilla soup and sandwich one had Potatoe soup and I had Chicken fried steak (about $12) . The soups were good. The cheese steak sandwich was stingy on the meat, but my CFS was unbelievably small. I know a cheap, fatty cut of meat shrinks when fried and that leaves empty batter, but this was ridiculous. The CFS batter filled much of the plate but when I began to cut it the first 3 large bites had no steak, only batter. I took the batter off to see if there was ANY meat, and there it was, a small piece of tenderized round steak just smaller than a standerd slice of bologna. It was about 1/8 inch thick. However, they seem to have an understaffing problem as our servers disappear for long periods and we have to flag down others to get things like refills, dessert, and the check. The bartending leaves something to be desired as well. I wanted to try their limited time "signature" cocktails, but the whiskey was so overpoured I literally could not taste the other flavors at all (supposed to be apple, etc.).
