I normally enjoy the greek wrap. Today, I called in and ordered over the phone. When I arrived the woman who had taken the order asked if I wanted dressing on my greek wrap. She rang up my purchase, took my $7. I told her I did want dressing, greek. She asked if I wanted her to put it on the wrap for me, I said, "sure." She proceeded to open my sandwich with BARE HANDS, after having touched my money. I asked he to remake it. She asked why and I informed her that it was unsanitary to handle money, then food. She immediately got an attitude. She remade the wrap and tossed it on the counter. I said thank you. She did not reply. I normally get great service and the folks that prepare food normally wear gloves. This is the first issue in my many visits. read more

Here we go. I'm a pizza snob. I eat here on a regular basis--at least weekly. It's not really special pizza in any way, but it gets the job done. For a basic pizza parlor with no frills, it's really good. You can't compare it really to Max and Leo's in Newton or Picco's in the South End. In my opinion, Upper Crust is also in a different class based on it's selection of ingredients. But I feel that the team here has a lot of heart and they're committed to the neighborhood and the pizza satisfies my craving every time. I can't say that for some of the other sub-par pizza parlors in JP. Surprisingly, I think it's definitely on par with Il Panino Cafe, which claims North End pedigree. Also, the slices are a good size and you get a solid amount of food for your money with each slice. I suspect SOP will remain my go-to joint. If you're in a rush or you want a smoking hot big pie to go with your football, this is the place. read more

Haven't ordered from here in probably 10 years. I remember it was one of my "go-to's" when I lived in JP. Wanted something quick and was craving a cheeseburger sub. While living in FL it seems no where made them like back home. So on my visit I decided to get one. Food arrived promptly. I found it odd the driver asked me to come downstairs. 1) I ordered delivery. Shouldn't it come to the door? 2) I added a note that my apartment was outside and there was no need to go inside the main building. Well the fries were warm, however the sub was barely lukewarm. My parents grew up in JP, so even though I was a loser suburbanite, I've been coming here forever. I don't know if they're under new management or something (the same mafia-like guy I've always seen there is still there, so I guess not), but they changed their pizza. It used to be nasty and greasy and cheesy and awesome. Now it's all saucy, and not the "oh girrrrrrl" kind. But, it's still a good place to grab a quick slice and watch the news real quick in the afternoon. My dad gets the spaghetti and he loves it, but he'd eat anything that involves sauce and noodles so he's not very reliable for food ratings. Good pizza with okay prices, but the service is a little rude and unfriendly . They barely listen to you, so they got part of my order wrong. Not a deal breaker, but be prepared or maybe just get your pizza delivered and avoid going in. read more

I have been both going to Same Old Place and getting delivery from them since I was a little kid. SOP was always a treat and I recall eating it several times for New Year's and had many birthday parties there as well. I have lived on the west coast since 2006 and I constantly still talk about this place and how perfectly thin and crispy the crust is. Pizza absolutely blows all over the west coast and I look forward to arranging my schedule every time I'm back in JP to stop in for a slice or two. The #1 and #2 are seriously the best deals in town for true east coast pizza. I also used to love the greek salad with chicken. Not sure if they have it but the chicken was added while still hot of the grill which made it 100 times better than most salads you find elsewhere that come with cold chicken. I recently moved back to the area and had always loved the pizza here. I ordered delivery. The pizza we got was soggy, cheap on toppings and our salad had some not so fresh ingredients. The salad dressing (Ken's packet) was dusty like it had been sitting on a shelf for years. It's gone downhill. read more

I am disgusted, dissapointed and sad. I have been going to same old place for over 30 years, my family even longer. Tonight I got 2 small piazzas and it came to $28.00 and they sucked! How does a shooting raise prices? The sauce was all wrong, crust was uneven and gross, the whole thing was terrible. your driver got to my house late. i ordered a large pizza with mushroom and fresh mozz. there was no fresh mozz. the mushrooms were dry. the pizza was not fresh, tasted like it was sitting out. below room temperature and i spent $24 on it. you have faked me out and this will be the last thing i ever buy from u people. read more

Bland sauce, bland pizza, bland delivery. Usually takes over an hour to deliver which would be fine if the pizza wasn't cold, tasteless, and over priced. I only recommend ordering from here if it's your last resort and if you aren't expecting much. I call and place an order for two steak tip salads and fries to be delivered. He says it will be 34 bucks. I'm like whoooaaa, why so expensive? He breaks it down and I decided to go pick them up and save myself delivery fee and tip. After returning home, I realize they completely messed up the order, so I call. He says there are no drivers to bring me my correct order and he won't refund me my money--- that I can bring the salad back and they can fix their mistake. I'm sorry sir, especially in light of the holiday season------ you could have had a better attitude, been more customer oriented, ANYTHING. He says "you can bring the salad back in the morning" as if me and my partner aren't starving now. I miss the OLD same old place. Unspeakably bad customer service. After ordering a pretty good pizza a couple of weeks ago we reordered it and received our pepperoni pizza without pepperoni! We were disappointed, of course, as pepperoni is the bomb, but decided not to make a big deal of it. We simply called to ask for either a portion of the bill refunded or a credit for next time (perfectly reasonable). However the man who answered the phone said there was nothing they could do to remedy the situation since we had started eating it (I was halfway through one piece and didn't realize the pepperoni was missing until I tried it). I explained this but the (gentle)man was making no exception and was VERY rude about it. My friend overheard the struggle I was having and shouted in the background (ok yeah - maybe he shouldn't have shouted but it was really ridiculous). Came here about 2 weeks ago, first thing I notice was the menu on the wall needs a total upgrade, it's not clear and my first impression was "they don't have shit" but I ordered a broccoli chicken alfredo and a side of mozzarella sticks I also asked for a side of garlic bread and the guy tells me it comes with garlic bread but told him I still wanted the extra side of bread total $23.... I get home there's NO GARLIC BREAD!!!! Not even the one that comes with the pasta dish! The amount of chicken in the dish was totally disrespectful! Just a few pieces so I paid almost 14 bucks for pasta and sauce I was so upset!!! Then the marinara sauce that came with these very expensive cheese sticks was absolutely disgusting it went straight to the trash. This place is overpriced, don't give enough food and it sucks!!!!
