These donuts and pastries are delicious! Everyone was friendly and they get people in and out quickly. We got a bunch of stuff and they were all delicious. We enjoyed the cinnamon bun, crumb donut, jelly donut and chocolate glazed and sprinkled donut. Highly recommend

This is my first time coming in person to place my order at Sam's Donut Shop with Lee who is Sam's brother. Lee said that Sam's Donut Shop has been in business for 20 years now and is still going strong! It's a family owned business.. My order I placed with Lee for my breakfast was the one order of the Sausage, Egg, Lettuce, Tomatoes and mayonnaise Toasted Croissant, one large decaffeinated French Vanilla Coffee, and for my dessert I ordered with Kim whose Lee's mother one Chocolate Covered Round Donut and Kim was very sweet, she gave me 3 FREE Glazed Donuts Holes. My total cost was $12.00. That is a very affordable price and I am still eating and enjoying my Hot Decaffeinated Coffee with a Chocolate Covered Round Donut. It's feels great to eat inside Sam's Donut Shop. Both of their shops doors are open and a really cool breeze is blowing inside this donut shop. While I was eating my breakfast Croissant Sandwich I saw several customers ordering their favorite donuts. Sam's Donut Shop bakes their donuts every morning none of their donuts are frozen . I will eat her again soon.

Also, Cronuts are served here. I had noticed that they had a poster advertising that croissants were made and served here. "Do you have a cronut?", I asked. The clerk/owner/donut maker dude pointed inside the very modest selection of baked goods behind the counter. 10am on this Friday and there was a dwindling assortment of the various baked goods. "I'll have one of those, one of those and one of those", as I pointed to some of my old time favorites. "Let me try one of your cronuts too", pointing now to the donut-shaped, layered and glazed croissant. Nothing too special on the appearance, but being the second cronut I have sampled, I find it to be superior to the others that I had before elsewhere. Layers upon layers that just pulled apart like pulling apart a croissant . . . just with an edge of glaze. "Awesome". So we get in the car to drive off and begin to sample our breakfast treats and we find that the owner/server had put 3 or 4 regular donut holes in each of the bags as well. Those seemed to make our visit that much more special. The donuts and other treats here made our morning. We are going to have to remember this place. Dicks

The best donuts around for sure! The only reason why they are not getting 5 stars is because they do run out way to early!

It's a great spot to meet up with friends or bring my mom when she arrives at the Oside train station from Grover Beach. It's a wonderful place to grab a flavored latte, seasonal drink, a glass of wine and a lunch bite, or all of the above! I also look forward to wandering through their gift area every time, where they stock unique jewelry, candles, fragrance rollerballs and 'clean' nail polish, plants and pots, kids' merchandise, t-shirts, and other cute stuff. I always buy something extra (and special) when I come. Their coffee bar is open, as is the general space, and there is plenty of seating outside in front and in back. You can watch the baristas make your drink and peep the beautiful Italian espresso machine and lovely bouquet of dried flowers by the bar while doing so. They bring their food out to you and when your espresso drink is ready they set it on the bar for you to pick up. Definitely a place to hang vs. grabbing a quick drink and rushing off about your day. I always want to stay and catch up with friends or bring my laptop to do some work, and they never make me feel rushed. Truly one of my favorite coffee shops in North County and in SD in general. (There is another high quality coffee shop in Oceanside that has incredible coffee and pastries--I won't mention the name--but I sometimes sense an attitude from the staff there, and that is a bit of a turnoff.) Our servers name was Monse I believe and she was excellent. We had mimosas, an americano, lobster thermidor with cheese grits, and the steak and eggs. Out of the two entrees my favorite was the lobster thermidor which was an egg scramble with chunks of lobster and cheese. The cheesy grits were also delicious. The steak was overcooked so it wasn't doing it for me. Overall I'd say the food is pretty good for being a hotel restaurant I would dine again. The only thing with sitting outside is we saw the occasional transient person threatening patrons. What's super annoying is that the menu change still isn't reflected online, so we had no idea until we sat down. The avocado toast was burnt, potatoes were flavorless and unevenly cooked, and the "poached" eggs were hard in the middle. Prices are higher, service is slow, and overall it just feels like a place that exists now purely to gouge tourists in Oceanside. We won't be going back.
