MY FAVORITE BANHMI + BEEF STEW PLACE!! I've been going here as a student back in 2019 and after graduating I came back home and had to visit again. The veggies & baguette are consistently exquisitely fresh. I love their beef stews. Not to mention the owner's immaculate service! He treats everyone like his close friend. Last time I went (a month ago) he added a random planner (which I use religiously), a random banana, and some cookies! ABSOLUTELY the best bahn mi place within Orange County, not only is the flavor in the sandwiches is amazing, but the owner is SO sweet. There's no inside seating but he really makes sure you are taken care of while waiting. You first order inside and wait in your car, he brings your order out to your car. The wait was about 10-15 minutes, but he said you can call ahead to avoid a wait. I found this place on Yelp and, with its high rating, decided to give it a try. The shop is in a small strip mall and I almost drove past it without noticing. Since it was a weekday morning, there were plenty of parking spots. The uncle behind the counter quickly greeted me and asked if it was my first time there. When I said yes, he recommended the combination banh mi sandwich as their best and most popular option. I decided to go for it and also ordered an iced Vietnamese coffee. He said it would take 10-15 minutes to prepare, and since it's a takeout-only place, he suggested calling ahead next time to avoid waiting. There are no seats in this small shop, so I waited outside. While waiting, the uncle gave me a complimentary jasmine iced tea and a coffee candy, which was so nice of him! The jasmine tea was light and refreshing, with no added sugar. He mentioned they grow their own jasmine and make the tea from it, which is really cool. When my sandwich was ready, both he and his wife thanked me profusely for supporting their business. They were so pleasant and kind. I ate the sandwich in my car, and it was fantastic. This place is a small mom and pop shop and the owners are really awesome. The store itself is very small, but jam packed with different snacks and drinks. It seems like the husband stands at the cash register while the wife works in the back making the sandwiches. I told them that we were from Northern California and they were so happy that we decided to come to their small shop to try it out. Every order comes with iced tea, which the owner said that he brought back from Vietnam himself. We tried their special in both a baguette and croissant. Their pate is AMAZING. Their meat was sliced a little too thin for my liking and it wasn't enough meat for me even though we got double meat, but their pate really made the sandwich very enjoyable. After an afternoon at Knotts, I was happy to find this banh mi shop close by. The owner was so friendly and kind. He gave me a to go cup of tea and some cupcakes for my boys. I ordered four house special banh mi and ate them in the car. There is ZERO seating in this tiny little shop. The baguette was crispy on the outside and soft and chewy on the inside. The amount of meat was very disappointing. The meat slices were incredibly thin and there was two layers of it. I found it interesting that they sprinkled black pepper in the sandwich. It gave the sandwich a little bit of a kick. I asked that they package the veggies separately and they happy obliged. They gave a good amount of pickled carrots, onions, cucumbers, jalapenos and cilantro. I'm glad I tried this shop but I'm not sure I'll return. It didn't satisfy my banh mi cravings as much as I hoped. $40 for four banh mi seems pretty steep! read more

I've been eying this place for a while since I have been looking for a good banh mi place near me. Luckily, I had a chance this past weekend since Sandwich House was on my way to Westminster. I excitedly went to the front counter where a friendly gentleman noticed I looked lost and gave me recommendations. I ordered #1 and was delighted with iced jasmine tea during my wait. Unfortunately this is where things took a negative turn. Not sure if Ive been spoiled by the copious amounts of RO water that i drink at home (I drink 4L/day) but the jasmine tea tasted awful due to an overwhelming tap water flavor. When the sandwiches came, I liked that the bread was warm, however the amount of cold cut meats were lacking compared to my favorite cold cuts banh mi in Westminster (Banh Mi Che Cali) and the shredded carrots shared the same tap water fragrance as the jasmine tea, which turned me off from the sandwich. The sweet gentleman also included a box of snacks, which I appreciated. 2 star for the food and 1 extra star for the wonderful service. read more

One thing I can say about this place is the customer service is on point, the elderly man who works there gave us some free tea from Vietnam and walked the food out to our car. The service is beyond anything I have seen in a really long time. The first time I came here, I walked in and I got a banh mi and rice vermicelli both with grilled pork. The older gentlemen behind the counter said it would take 20 mins and gave me some tea. I can't have caffeine so I politely declined, but thanked him. I stood outside and after about 10 mins, he came out with a container of chips and said something to snack on while you wait. Another nice gesture. This man was walking out to everyone's car dropping off their food and then going back inside. Working overtime with a smile every time. When my items were ready, he brought them out to me, as I was standing outside and I went back to my car. When I looked in the bag, there was random desserts and fruit that was another surprise. When I got home, the food was nice, but the meat was very minimal, I told myself I would order extra meat with the sandwich next time. The next time I ordered over the phone and got 2 banh mis double meat, and when I got home it just seemed like the extra meat wasn't added, on both sandwiches. Again, very minimal meat. However, again I was given free tea and another surprise dessert. The grilled pork isn't traditional grilled pork you would get from normal rice vermicelli plate. The bbq chicken was simple grilled chicken. I would say the meat portions are the only disappointment out of this place, but the owners are so nice and giving it's really hard not to go back. read more

Recommend by a friend who trust only 4* at least on Yelp. This place is located across cypress college. Good for those who want sandwich across campus. First time here so don't know what to expect. Parking is limited on how many cars are in the lot. I have to say it has a pretty good selection of sandwiches like you can find from a typical Vietnamese shop. That's exactly what this a place: a Vietnamese sandwich shop. However, this place also serves Pho ($9 for a bowl) Order the house special sandwich which is the Dac Biet that contains pickled veggies, pate, cha lua and jalapeño. They give complimentary ice tea which is a good thing. After waiting for 15 minutes (because of three sandwiches and said it will take 3 minutes), finally got the food. Was it worth the wait? No! Pickled veggies are not pickled but sweet. Cha lua is slice so thin that you can hardly taste the meaty side of it. Pate was imitation (most of Yelp reviews said the pate was excellent). Omg! The cilantro still have its stem in the sandwich. I understand if it's put on the side but not like this. Overall, not worth 5*. I guess if you are local then maybe it is but for someone who have been eating House special Vietnamese sandwiches for a decade, totally not worth it. K read more
