Took a detour on my way home because I was craving a wrap! SM had really good reviews on yelp, figured I'd give them a shot. I went in around 1pm - no long lines and the gentleman who took my order was helpful/nice. The only option for a wrap is a flour tortilla, which is a bummer. Wish they carried actually wraps! I ordered the Roasted Rascal on whole wheat and the angry monkey wrap - the wrap/sandwiches were average. Nothing extraordinary! I asked for the sauce on the side and they forgot to include it. Went here for the first time and was very disappointed. I ordered the Tempting Tuna Melt with a drink and chips combo. Cost was $18. When I got back to the office and unwrapped my sandwich only to find a small spread of tuna with melted cheese. I had no idea that it would be made so PLAIN. They did warn me about the size of the sandwich and not go for the large size. But I didn't listen and go for the large size of the sandwich. Thought I would try thos place for lunch. I bought the large Monkey business 10" sandwich with turkey, ham, bacon. It's a big sandwich but it's all lettuce and bread. There is literally 1 slice of Turkey, 1 slice of ham and 2 pieces of bacon on the whole sandwich. $16 for this, a drink and a really tiny bag of chips. Almost a 5 star review... my only problem here is the price. I came in on a Saturday around 1:30 to get sandwiches for my fiancé and me. There were some people eating there and some that just received their order, so I was helped quickly. I'm not sure who helped me, but he seemed to be in charge. He was very friendly and helpful. I asked if it was possible to use a new knife, cutting board, and gloves since my fiancé has so many allergies. He assured me that he could and I placed my order. I decided on a custom turkey sandwich (for my fiancé), and the Angry Monkey and BBQ Pork Greek Sandwich for me. My fiancé said her sandwich was delicious. She finished half for lunch and will eat the other half for dinner. The Angry Monkey had the perfect amount of spicy ness. Not too spicy to eat, but just enough kick to get me going. I was impressed with the chicken. I'm always hesitant to order food with chicken since it usually comes out dry, but the chicken was surprisingly moist. The BBQ Pork Greek Sandwich was good. I wish I would have asked for the fries to be well done so they were crunchy when I ate it. They seemed a little undercooked if anything. It had good flavor. If I were to order it again, I would ask for some veggies on it to give it a little lightness. The size of the sandwiches were decent. You have an option of 6" or 9" and I got the 9" for each. I was able to finish both my sandwiches and felt full. Overall, the flavors were good. I can't confidently say it was worth the price though. At just over $42 for three sandwiches, my pockets were sad and empty. If their prices were more affordable I would be eating here a lot more often. read more

So many sandwiches so little time! Came by Sandwich Monkey, for it's anticipated first day open. Upon arrival around 5:30 they were semi busy and the workers were learning the ropes and calming down after a busy day. The smells of the shop permeated the air. Bf decided to get the #1, The King Louie ($8.75). Which was served hot with garlic sauce, breaded chicken cutlets, swiss, honey ham, lettuce, tomatoes, and onions. I decided on the #12 King Kong ($9.75), which was well described. Though his sandwich was big too, you could see the increase in size with the King Kong. It was stuffed with proscuitto, salami, coppa, provolone, pepperocinis (I omitted though), lettuce, tomatoes, onions, artichoke hearts, garlic sauce, vinegar and olive oil. It was definitely a hefty Italian sammie. All our sandwiches were on yummy Dutch Crunch. The girl we had was very friendly but seemed a little flustered as she was referring back to her copy of the menu, but forgot an ingredient or two initially. But I'm sure everything will be running like a smooth oiled machine after a week or two. We finally got to dig in. The Dutch Crunch was fresh and crunchy enough, very doughy, so you'll hit the carb wall soon enough. The meats were very fresh and I saw them cutting more meat with the deli slicer in the back..is that legit or what? Because of the bread though, I thought my sandwich was a little dry and could have used more sauce. Alternatively, I drizzled more of my own olive oil on the bread. I'm sure next time I can graciously ask for more EVOO or garlic sauce while they're assembling my sandwich. He was saying that my sandwich would have been even better if it was served hot, I'm sure if your wanting your sammie toasted, they could do this for you as well. However we both enjoyed our sandwiches, though I'd have to say, I think I liked his more than mine. I think Sandwich Monkey is a great addition to the area, especially since Foster City doesn't have too many notable eateries and SM is smack dab next to all the fast food chains. Sandwich Monkey is open til 8pm and I believe is open on weekends, unlike nearby Ike's. Ike's has a crazy and long menu, and don't get me wrong, it's good, but not my favorite, and is pricey. Little Lucca is still #1 in my heart and I have not had Mr. Pickles and Lorenzo's in awhile, but I'd rank Sandwich Monkey as #2 or #3. I know that they will do well and can't wait to come back for another satisfying sandwich. 3.5 stars rounded up for now. read more

I visit my elderly parents in Foster City every so often during these Covid-19 heightened awareness times and I found out they're apart of this program for Foster City senior citizens which local businesses donate services to elderly residents, Sandwich Monkey being one of the businesses making food for the elderly. Now I find this absolutely amazing that during Covid-19, a business such as Sandwich Monkey who is undoubtedly affected by lowered sales, is participating in this program to give back to the community. Often actions like this get overlooked but I commend Sandwich Monkey for being selfless in such an uncertain time for businesses. I believe that when you're at your lowest you demonstrate your true nature and you've shown yours to be admirable, an example to keep us believing in hope that things will get better. My choice for my lunch stop was the Angry Monkey, a flavorful, spicy combination of grilled chicken, melted pepper jack cheese, along with "safari sauce," roasted red peppers, jalapenos, pepperoncini, lettuce, and onions! I got this on the crispy dutch crunch roll, and every mouthful was an explosion of spicy, acidic, juicy flavor! I also tried one of their specials, the BBQ Tri-Tip sandwich (only available on Wednesdays) with caramelized onions and BBQ sauce on a sourdough roll. While the Tri-Tip meat itself wasn't bad, the sandwich was rather plain, and the sourdough roll was quite tough and chewy. I tend to be picky with sandwiches but they allow customizations of the preset sandwiches so it worked out perfectly for me! Got the Buster's Tri Tip sandwich and it was not very good. Would not recommend it. Description indicates BBQ sauce but it was basically a smattering if even that of sauce. Not even a teaspoon of it on the sandwich. Not a lot of meat probably due to inflation where prices are slightly higher but reduce the amount of ingredients. Not worth getting.
