god this place was so bad the chicken in the noodle with chicken soup looked radioactive. it was purple in many parts of it and overall looked rancid. don't recommend that. on the other hand, i got the gyoza (chicken fried dumplings) and those weren't the worst thing i've ever tasted, they just tasted very oily. overall i spent almost 14 dollars for crap. the broth the noodle came with was also at least 1500 degrees it never seemed to cool down. read more

Got the spicy tuna bowl, but replaced the white rice for brown and the tuna for salmon. But overall it was ok.. Nothing to rave about. Nestled In a group of other casual dining and fast food restaurants in the Sea Cliff shopping center, Sango Sushi is a real standout. Probably best characterized as Japanese fast food, they offer a wide variety of Japanese dishes ranging from curry and udon plates to their namesake sushi. My current favorite is the Oriental Set featuring chicken breast teriyaki with brown or white rice, 4 pieces of tempura, 4 Cali rolls, poki salad and edamame. A ridiculous value at $8.90. The quality of the sushi is ok, but definitely passable for quick and affordable sushi fix. I need to try a few more dishes here, but so far so good. read more

We each picked 2 rolls, I ordered the Huntington Beach Roll and the Eel roll, my friend ordered the tuna roll and some other roll which has slipped my mind. Now I wouldn't say this place is horrible but as soon as I got my shrimp tempura rolls I turned to my friend and told her that it was not going to stay together. Sango Sushi is a good place to go for affordable sushi, especially if you want takeout. I tend to get the Udon soup, which only runs about $5 or 6 bucks. The crunchy roll is pretty good, and my fiance likes the tuna tataki roll--a California roll topped with seared tuna and crispy fried onions. I've been here a couple times, the food is really good considering it is basically fast food sushi. It is pretty affordable. Now it is only fair to compare it to other fast food sushi places, with that criteria, I would say it is one of the better ones. i am glad i tried a new place for dinner tonight. ordered Oyako don, Beef Curry and Crunchy roll. We were really surprised by this little fast food Japanese restaurant. The beef was so tender and flavorful, and oyako don was very tasty and my 1yr picky food eater "loved" it. crunchy roll was good too. I wish the shrimp tempura was hotter, other than that the sushi rice was done right, and for half of the cost compare to Ikeda. Let me start by saying that I've been a patron of Sango Sushi since 1993, back when it was a sit down restaurant in Los Alamitos and had arguably the best sushi in Socal. Since then I moved to Huntington Beach and was happy Sango opened a location here. But over the past few years the quality has gone down but I continued to visit Sango Huntington due to convenience; it's been just acceptable in quality. I once asked their itamae (sushi chef) the source of their Tuna and they answered "the sea". Ha ha, funny but where they get their fish matters. I can live with average sushi from an undisclosed source but I can't live with a business trying to short change me. The young lady working the cash register gave me my change one evening counting it off very quickly at an angle in which I could not see the cash faces then handing it over and turning around acting like she was busy doing something. I could tell something was fishy so I recounted my change and yes she shorted me $20! This was no mistake, I wonder how many other people she has done this to. I'm really sorry to see one of my favorite local business succumb to greed... (maybe it was just the young cashier, but wouldn't the cameras pick this up... so maybe management in on it as well). So the first time I came here I got the august special which was teriyaki chicken and a California roll. It was awesome I just went back yesterday and got the teriyaki beef and tempura l as well as a crunch roll. I loved the dish but the sushi wasn't all that well put together. Sango is my absolute favorite sushi place. I have been going to them for years. Their food is fresh and I love the way they make Philadelphia rolls... no where else I have been to does it like them. They put the cream cheese and sprouts inside the roll and then they put giant slabs of salmon on top of the roll. It's sooooooo good. Perfect ratio of everything, for my taste at least. Came in for the first time yesterday. You order and pay at the counter. I got two simple rolls which end up being composed of mostly mayo with some crab meat and cucumber. The fish on top was a little slimy but I didn't get sick so it must have been ok. The thing that shocked me was the insane amount of white onions on top of my rolls. Just so many onions. I live across the street so I've been patronizing this joint for years now. The food has gotten progressively worse. Perhaps, as the business has grown, they've gotten a bit bottom-line happy. Well on the outside, this place looks Japanese but when you eat the sushi, you will realize that this is some of the most americanized sushi ever. I am a great fan of this place due to it's price and quality. The staff is real friendly and it's nice to see actual Japanese people working in the restaurant. I don't remember the last time I actually went to a sushi place and heard the people working there speaking Japanese instead of Korean. Sounds strange, but it was just refreshing =). My recommendation to everyone is to order the chirashi. It comes with a wide assortment of sashimi and is a wonderful option for people who never really ventured away from the California roll. Not to mention free miso soup all for under $9. Another recommendation is the chicken katsu curry. They provide a generous portion that is more than enough to fill you up. Other items on the menu comprise of the usual chicken entrees, udon, tempura and various rolls. Kinda wish they had ramen though =/.
