WOW! I feel like a flavor bomb went off in my mouth! So delicious! We had the sampler and the giant beans for appetizers. The beans hypnotize you to keep going back for more, and yes they are giant. The sampler features four different flavors to choose from and a mountain of pita to dip into them. The Feta was my favorite, but they were all great! I had the Gyro plate for dinner and the portions were generous. The meat was velvety and it was great to have the sampler there to add some as condiments to my Gyro to take it straight to scrumptiousville! Can't wait to come back! read more

It's been quite some time since I've dined here and it's with sadness that I say that Santorini is not the same as when they first opened a couple years ago. Before when you walked in, there was an energy about the place, it was cleaner, brighter, and now even the workers seem sad/dismayed and I have to say that this reflects on their food. My favorite thing here was their appetizer dish of Giant Beans. The way that it would be served would be marinated in a spiced vinaigrette/tomato sauce, slices of thin onions, and a side of pita bread. This time around it was just the beans in their sauce, no thinly sliced onion, no bread. I asked the waitress if it came with bread and she said no. I told her it use to come with bread and sliced onion and she looked at me like she didn't know what I was talking about and it very well could be that she doesn't if she's new and this was a downgrade they did. I know it may not seem like a lot but those thinly sliced onions gave the addition of flavor and texture and the bread was then used to sop up the sauce. They may not see it, but the loss of those little details would prevent me from ordering the beans in the future again. I also ordered the gyro salad and it was ok. I like that they crisped up the gyro meat and it came with tzatziki sauce and feta cheese, olives, lettuce and tomato. Our waitress was friendly, checked on us often but again; it's not the same place I remember, and they should be mindful of keeping the place cleaner overall. I went to the restroom to wash my hands and not only did it reek but it looked as if the floors had either not been mopped in a long time, or that they used a dirty mop to clean.. Our first visit here, but not our last! We started with the flaming goat cheese, which was fun to look at and even more fun to eat! Really yummy flavors and delicious with the pita. My husband and I both ordered the gyro pita, and I think it was the best, most tender and flavorful gyro I've ever had. The pita was also soft, fresh and chewy. My only complaint was that there wasn't enough tzatziki sauce, but that's partly my fault, since I always want more, and thus should have ordered extra. We finished by splitting a pice of baklava, which was rich, flaky and delicious. read more

This review is not from a current visit, because I have never been back. I have read so many glowing reviews concerning this place. Being fond of Greek food, having had some of the best there is, I couldn't wait to have lunch at Santorini. I was sure it had to be pretty good. I wasn't in the mood for any meat-based dishes, so I ordered the Spanokopita and a side of their Greek-style green beans. What was served after a rather lengthy wait, was extraordinarily stale, limp, old-tasting and clearly microwaved! It tasted like it had been in the walk-in fridge for more than two weeks! I was thinking no one would serve food this terrible, maybe my taste buds were off, so I asked for a box, took it home and asked my son to taste it. One sniff was enough for him. I have never had worse. I'd like to think this is an isolated incident, however..who serves food that is that old? The pastry on the spanokopeta reminded me of a limp, wet vending machine pie crust. Needless to say, I was ill for two days, just from the few bites I had consumed. Yes, more than a year has passed since I tried this restaurant, and it bothers me that I was afraid to leave a poor review, as I didn't want to hurt feelings of those who adore this place. I will probably be a bit tougher than most on my review of Santorini Restaurant. I lived in Greece (Ano Glyfada) for a bit and spent a goodly amount of time at the Plaka. That being said, I am aware that this is Oviedo Florida and most palates wouldn't appreciate traditional Greek fare. The first thing that you notice is the huge painted mural of Santorini's Blue domed seaside on a wall. Then you see the free-standing diner booth seating mixed with tables. It's definitely not Michelin star white linen. I ordered the Flaming Saganaki (cheese)appetizer and it was, as always, absolutely wonderful. It fed three of us and was $8 and some change. It was worth every penny. My son and I ordered the Avgolimono soup. Something was different about it this time. It's supposed to be chicken broth with lemon, orzo, and a touch of dill(?). This was not it. It had carrots, shredded chicken, and A LOT of pepper. I didn't taste a hint of lemon in it. And both bowls were served lukewarm. I sent mine back to be re-heated. My wife ordered the Tzaziki appetizer with pita. This was VERY good, as always. As for main courses, I ordered the Combo platter that included three Dolmades (stuffed grape leaves), Gyro meat (lamb, beef?), and your choice of Moussaka, Pastichio, or .... I forgot. The Dolmades were home made and good. The Gyro meat was also good. I love Pastichio and when I took a forkful and put it in my mouth, that smooth wonderful potato combined with cheese and pasta was great! That was, until I got to the cold center of it. And I thought "First the soup and now this?". So back it went into the microwave and returned to me. HINT TO THE OWNERS - NEVER return the patrons original food to them warmed up. Throw it away and start with a new piece/plate/silverware. My son's Gyro seemed to be OK as he is a picky eater and was finishing it. My wife ordered some Greek rendition of chicken kebab on a bed of rice and she didn't seem to have any objections. I suppose that I was expecting some sort of apology for the cold food but there was none. The waitress almost dropped two, not one but two bowls of Avgolimino soup in my lap. At least they wouldn't have burned me. It just seems to me like the owners just don't care anymore. I said to my wife that you can't save someone that doesn't want to be saved. This is just my opinion and if they don't want it, then ignore me and go on with business as usual: 1. Do something to improve the aesthetics of your seating area. Fasten the booths together, if that is what you want. 2. Stop using one of your very few tables as an office/employee lounge. It gives the appearance that you never need another table, and personally, I don't want to see you all hanging out in the dining room going over your books. 3. You have 4 bottles of beer in your dessert case. Invest in a drink cooler and put desserts in the dessert case. 4. Your waitress was wearing a camouflage shirt and jeans. You need to outfit your staff properly. Give the appearance of professionalism. 5. Make sure that your restroom is clean. You opened the door and I saw that the waste paper pail was overflowing with hand towels. Oviedo could use a good authentic Greek restaurant. I hope you read this with the idea that it is written by someone that cares whether you stay in business or not. I paid you $80 tonight for dinner with no complaint because I felt sorry for the restaurant. It could be so much better with little effort. read more

The lamb chops cost about $20 before tip and tax, so I was expecting a good meal. Unfortunately they were extremely tough and had obviously been frozen solid not long ago. There were 4 of them but they were all pretty small. I like their gyro and I've had it a dozen times because it's cheap and a decent sized portion but I don't think I will be back because they're obviously delusional to have lamb chops on the menu if that's the quality they're serving. I went down the road to a butcher and found some great cuts. Just do it yourself when it comes to lamb. A chore to eat them with how tough they were. read more

We have been enjoying Santorini's restaurant for over 10 years. When you go into the restaurant you will see the owner cooking in the back. Sometimes his wife is helping. My family has celebrated many occasions as Santorini's such as Mother's day, birthdays and anniversaries. My husband loves the roasted chicken, olives and feta and gyro sandwiches. By the way the fries are the best! My daughter enjoys the grilled chicken and rice. She will sometimes add a side of fries, too! My favorite foods are the hummus, and salad with gyro meat. I can't say for sure if this is the worst restaurant I've ever eaten food from but it definitely is in the top 3. Ordered lamb chops (to go) and opened it up. The rice pilaf had this pungent sour smell that was totally off-putting. It was as if someone took the rice and let it sit outside in the summer sun for a couple days and then dished it out...gross! Then to top it off I noticed a couple hairs inside the container which is easy to see because it contrasts against a white container easily. Made me wonder how many other hairs was actually mixed into the food. Between both of those things I just couldn't touch the food, I tossed it. It seemed pretty obvious that the people running that restaurant don't really have respect for their food. The only other option for greek-style food in the area is in the Oviedo mall food court. I ate their once and the gyros were very good. I just can't recommend Santorini's at all. They'll never see business from me ever again. read more

Santorini is probably my favorite restaurant in Oviedo. The food is consistently outstanding and service is great. As far as I can tell, everything is homemade, and it makes all the difference in the world. The first time I had homemade dolmades (stuffed grape leaves) was at Santorini. Holy cow---I can't believe restaurants even serve that canned crap to their customers, but I realize that's what I've been eating my whole life until now. I can never go back. Santorini's grape leaves are perfectly seasoned, tender, moist---OMG I could eat them all day (make sure you get the ones with meat on the entree part of the menu NOT the appetizer. They are different)Their gyros are always bursting with delicious freshly cut lamb/beef and the pitas are always soft and fresh. Also, their prices are extremely reasonable. My husband and I can get 3 meals here for under $30. Seriously they could charge more and I would pay it. I'll never go to any of the new chains as long as we have this gem.
