Sarku Japan - view of the menu, the area where customers place their orders and the grill.
Kevin C.

This Sarku Japan location is in the Perimeter Mall foodcourt, and is one of the busier foodcourt vendors due to their popular teriyaki menu items. Customers line up to order at the cash register, and the efficient and face masked employee quickly takes your order and your payment. As you wait, and hopefully social distance on your own, you can watch the employees cook your food at the grill. They will ask you if you'd like them to pour more teriyaki sauce on your food after it's been put into the takeout container and before they close it and give it to you. It looked like they grill a lot more chicken than they do the beef, so take that into account if you order either of the teriyaki items. I ordered the beef teriyaki with the steamed white rice and the steamed mixed vegetables. R ordered the chicken teriyaki with the steamed white rice and the steamed mixed vegetables. The chicken teriyaki was ready before the beef. I got more sauce poured onto the beef, thinking it would add more flavor. Boy, was I wrong in thinking this! Although it looked delicious, I didn't like my meal. The beef didn't really have a flavor, and the sauce tasted really watered down. The vegetables lacked flavor and the rice was on the mushy side. One thing that I can say is that they are extremely generous with the rice. I don't remember Sarku Japan teriyaki ever being this bad. For those of you who prefer not to sit close to others in the foodcourt but want to eat your food while it's still hot, I suggest walking toward Nordstrom's. You'll find multiple tables and chairs spread out around the long lounge areas where you can sit and enjoy your food away from others. That's where we sat, and we felt safe.

Chicken Teriaki

Love this Chicken Teryaki. It's cook to order so it's fresh and tasty. Reasonably priced and you can eat it at the food court, or take it home with you. It's not greasy since it's cooked on the grill. Customer service was okay.

Huge portions, low prices and they cook your meal right in front of you. I don't mind raw vegetables but I think it would be better if they cooked the veggies with the meat. Located inside perimeter mall, which is a bit of a hassle but everything else about it is great.

I use to come here often but they just get greedier in the meat portion. They go up on their prices which is understandable but the amount of the meat stay the same! Last time I came, chicken teriyaki was close to $9 and they increase their extra meat price. Now it's $10 and their extra meat price increase as well AGAIN! This guy had the audacity to give me burnt meat top it off the portion of the meat I paid for was not worth it!! Their Tuesday special is NOT WORTH getting it just as their last special buy one get one for $6 (I think)!! Unless you're very hungry, I do not recommend this place!! I GUARANTEE that you will get RIPPED off!!

Beef bento w steamed rice

Not too bad for a mall food court place. I ordered the beef bento box, which was about 9 or 10 dollars. Gyoza - this was the one thing here I *didn't* like, or finish - they were the low quality sort where you can't taste the pork at all, just bland with a vague ginger/garlic taste. Salad - I almost never eat salad except for the part that can be eaten with a large portion of dressing, and this was one was the same way - the dressing, however was great. Standard Japanese type salad dressing, but it was creamy enough; some places make theirs with not enough cream and almost grainy in texture, not here. California roll - a standard california roll. Not delicious or earth shattering, and this one was a little on the bland side, but nevertheless not unpleasant. Beef and rice - the beef was tasty, although a tiny bit on the greasy side and there were a couple of pieces that were just bad cuts. I'd say it tasted great but not excellent. There's not much one can say about rice other than whether it's over or undercooked and this rice was cooked perfectly. Overall, I would not go out of my way to go here, but I would not avoid it if I was in the mall just looking for convenience and in the mood for Japanese. Most food court Asian chains I've tried have been pretty dismal, so I'd say this is definitely one of the better ones.

Tasty and generous portions! I went through Uber Eats and it was a perfect meal. Gyozas were excellent as well as the teriyaki chicken.

Shrimp tempura rolls. Dumplings

The rolls are nice. But they're incredibly small. I should have ordered 2 of them. And maybe even not be full at all. The dumplings are nice. Not that flavorful, but ok.

I hate to admit it, but I actually eat at Sarku fairly frequently - sometimes weekly. Sarku is the Japanese teppanyaki-style, fast-food restaurant in the Perimeter Mall food court. Since the mall is across the street from where I work, it's an easy walk and provides enough variety that just about any picky eater in the group can find something. The staff at Sarku are very friendly - they will try to upsell you the double-meat option or an egg-roll. I always go with the chicken teriyaki but opt for all veggies (mostly cabbage with the usual effect) instead of rice, asking for a cup of water instead of soda. It's a nice, quick and inexpensive low glycemic meal. If I'm really hungry I get the double meat option for an extra $1.49, otherwise the $6.95 chicken is fairly filling and super cheap. Don't be lulled into the "extra sauce" at the end - it doesn't add much to the flavor and has a lot of wasted calories. Use the hot sauce (bottles at the end) instead if you want to "flavor up"... also, if you want chopsticks they're hidden behind the "extra meat" sign next to the cash register. While there grab a Sarku card - 5 punches and your next lunch ($6.95 value) is free. Seating at the mall can be tricky - during prime lunch hours it's often easier to walk to the other end of the mall in front of Nordstrom's - there are tables there that can seat up to 4 people. Otherwise it might be easier to pack-and-go. For dessert, hit the Chick-fil-a on the other side for a handspun milkshake (if the line isn't too extensive) - speaking of lines, I see complaints about the line at Sarku - it is long but in general moves quickly.

Spring roll and chicken vegetable roll
Saira K.

Their chicken vegetable roll doesn't look very appetizing, but it was good. The spring roll was good, too. My complaint: their teriyaki dishes are only available in one size and is overpriced at almost $8 with tax. Farmer's Basket lets you buy at different sizes, if you're not too hungry. A big plus: they don't charge you for tap water or your water disposable cup, like Great American cookie and Macaron Queen and other stingy mall eateries.

Teriyaki beef and shrimp with veggies
Akassi E.

I realized that I'm spending more time in this mall now that new stores/restaurants are opening. There are quite a few restaurants in and around the mall, but if I want affordable, good food while I'm shopping, I go to Sarku. Sarku is in the food court towards to back corner. They prepare the food on a hibachi grill and the prices are pretty good for what's offered. You can get a teriyaki meal and a drink for less than $10. The meals come with steamed rice and vegetables; you can get fried rice for an extra fee. The meats are seasoned well and you don't feel weighed down when you finish, like other food court options. The service is quick and friendly; I try to stop by when I'm in the mall and I want a fast, somewhat healthy meal.

Chicken teriyaki
Sukeerthi A.

I have always been a crazy fan of sarku Japan's Chicken teriyaki. This location has maintained the same taste and the location is good and the staff was okie. I visit here almost every other weekend and will continue to visit They have a card that they stamp on every visit and once you visit 5 or I guess 6 times you get a free teriyaki. For someone who visits often this is an cool offer.

double chicken, steamed rice, and vegetables
Jessica L.

Really really tender chicken and it's super affordable. Ask for extra sause and the portion is enough for a girl to eat for 2 meals usually. Get the double chicken for $1.49 more for the best bang for your buck. I usually just get the steamed rice as I don't see the point in paying extra for very average fried rice. Overall a mall food court favorite of mine.

Can't speak for parking as I walked over. You'll have to call and ask or drive around and check it out for yourself. I didn't make a reservation but as busy as it got, I'd recommend it just in case. I sat at the Sushi bar - there's also a bar - but if you want a table - that's where it got busy, then busier when I finished up and left. Service was great! Sitting at the Sushi bar, the crew behind the counter was busy but the wait staff checked up on me like I was a VIP. I didn't even need to ask - someone was there to follow up. Not hovering. Just great timing. They do not offer Sashimi sets thus what you see in the pics I posted. Not complaining - I got my fix later in the week. But enjoyed the meal from appetizer, to dessert and the drinks in-between. I especially enjoyed the Yellowtail Jalapeno - nice punch of flavor - same for the Crab Sunomono. The Margarita Roll had a little kick - not spicy for me but if you're sensitive to spicy heat - might want to avoid. Grabbed the Banana Tempura for dessert. Figured it would pair well with the Banana Bread Old Fashioned. It didn't. Little to strong for it. That's on me. But enjoyed the separately. Next time I'd order something that doesn't overpower the dessert. But next time I might just say it's two desserts - the second being of a liquid variety. Anyway, would I go back? Lots of other places to try but I wouldn't hesitate if someone wanted to go and asked me to tag along.

She was surprised we hadn't received them and told someone to deliver to our table! The chef finally came out to cook and asked if we were celebrating anything. We informed him we were celebrating my husband's birthday. He cooked and served the food and left. There was absolutely no acknowledgement of my husband's birthday - no dessert, no singing, no wishing him a happy birthday! Why ask, if there is nothing different for a celebration? All of the temaki were great and all of the ingredients were fresh. The presentation was beautiful. My favorite temaki were the Toro Uni Ikura, Salmon Ikura, and Hokkaido Uni. My wife is pregnant, so they accommodated her with a free mocktail, cooking the salmon and excluding the ikura on her Salmon Tataki temaki. We appreciated that. Our table gobbled everything up. The Matcha Saketini was thick and heavy on the matcha. We did find it cumbersome to remove two strips of plastic for each temaki, but we understand why they do it (to keep the seaweed crisp). Sometimes, some of the ingredients would slide off with the plastic wrap, which was not ideal. I heard that if you sit at the bar, you don't have to deal with the plastic wrap (e.g., if you do a temaki tasting). The treats from the bakery-cafe were yummy. Service was excellent. All of the staff was polite and friendly. Thank you, Sian, Etta, and the Asian guy with glasses whose name I did not get. The name "Cuddlefish" is a play on cuttlefish, which is similar to a squid. Growing up, I ate dried cuttlefish from Thailand as a snack.
