    Hainan Chicken Rice
    Daisy L.

Made it here before the crowds on Memorial Day. Arrived at ~11:30 am and was seated at the counter which was perfect. We had the classic Hainan Chicken Rice $14.50, dark meat only $2 upcharge and the smoked duck pizza $14.95. The food had good flavor. It is what you expect from Hainan Chicken Rice. My friend commented that barbecue sauce would have gone well with her smoked duck pizza. Service is quick. The staff was busy with indoor and outdoor tables. Indoor seating is limited. There is more outdoor seating. However, the restaurant does a substantial amount of takeout orders. That's the way to go!

Wow, how long has it been. I used to come here all the time, Unfortunately a few things changed. The amount of chicken is reduced, and it's no more refils on the ice tea. Service is still good, the staff is quick the food comes out really quick. Seating is limited, but it's not as packed as it used to be. We got the classic hainan chicken rice it's very good and tasted the same as 10 years ago. ( Feels like less chicken though) Baked white fish fillet with pasta, this is so creamy and thick. Beware of food coma, I took a nap when I got home.

A very popular and busy restaurant in the SGV area. It's a cute but small place with minimal indoor seating. Luckily they have decent outdoor seating. It is by far the best Hainan chicken place to this day. The chicken is tender and never dry. Their sauces are A.Mazing, especially the ginger sauce. This time I tried the Roasted Cornish Hen. It was good and well portioned. The Hen wad nicely crispy on the outside. Highly recommend!

Their specialty is Hainan chicken rice, and that's what everyone needs to order first. Very consistent, the rice is flavorful and meat tender. Great service, too - they come around with sauce refills. We like the escargots as well. They have pizza and pasta plus curry also. Always nice to sit outside on the shady patio since inside is very small. Just park on the street and walk in. A great casual diner!

Had the mushroom pasta and escargot. The pasta was pretty good but only con is that there isn't as much pasta to sauce ratio. The sauce was also good but more on the watery instead of creamy. The escargot came without the shell and the seasoning wasn't as flavorful and robust with flavor. Wouldn't get again. The bread could definitely be better, it's super simple pizza bread and many places have tasted better. Service was really good and fast! The restaurant had nice outdoor seating.

Open face ravioli very delicious , well made!!!

Great fresh food for reasonable price! Would eat here again, although in a hotel we al enjoyed out meals!

Savoy Kitchen is a staple of the Alhambra community and has been serving up great food for forever. Located at the corner of Valley and Monterey, there is a parking lot for the restaurant across the street, but there's also ample street parking. Savoy Kitchen is known for 2 things: their Hainan chicken and only taking cash. Fortunately the only thing that has changed, is that they now accept credit card, the Hainan chicken is as great as ever. Soft and tender, with a delicious chicken flavor. They give soy sauce, shredded ginger, and a tangy orange sauce that pair so well with it. They also pile on the rice, which I appreciate. The service is always quick even when it's busy. Our waiter was really nice and checked in on us often. There is seating both inside and outside, but I prefer outside. Overall if you're in Alhambra you should stop by for a meal!

    Watery seafood pasta

Really disappointed because this used to be one of my favorite places. They are known for their hainan chicken but the portions have gotten so much smaller. We also ordered the seafood pasta in a creamy sauce and the sauce is SO WATERY ITS BASICALLY SOUP I hate writing a negative review since this place has such a special place in my heart and the service is still good here but the food quality has gone down so much, it's hard to ignore

We've ordered from here many times, but dining in was a bit tough because of the limited space. Service was just okay. My husband and mom ordered the famous Hainan chicken, and I had the seafood baked spaghetti. We also ordered the escargot, which was delicious. Portions felt small across the board. My mom barely ate her Hainan chicken and was given a very small box to take it home. My husband did enjoy his Hainan chicken rice, but my seafood baked spaghetti could've used more pasta. Also worth noting--no refills on the lemon iced tea. Small intimate ambiance like.

Can never go wrong with this place. I always go with the hainan chicken with rice, dark meat. It's so basic and plain but so comforting at the same time. I love love love the sauces that the hainan chicken comes with. They are so fast with everything. The food, the refills, everything! The best part is, they have the patio where I can take my pup! They have a few indoor tables too :) The only thing we've noticed is that the size of the chicken has decreased. There's less chicken on the plates now. :(

Hainan Chicken with dark meat (takeout)

4.5/5 If you love Hainan chicken, you should definitely try this place. My go-to order here is the Hainan chicken with dark meat. For takeout, they don't include much sauce, and unfortunately, there's a $0.50 charge for any extra sauce or ginger. The chicken is tender and juicy, never dry, and the rice is quite good as well. For me, the sauce is what really ties the whole dish together. Hainan chicken isn't meant to be aggressively flavorful. It's more of a comforting, lighter meal that highlights the quality of the chicken and the precision of the cooking technique. The staff are friendly and efficient. There's both indoor and outdoor seating, making it a great spot for individuals or small groups.

Back again and it's just as tasty! The service is always great and fast. This time we got the beef curry and dark meat dish. I'm a fan of dark meat, it even comes with a wing. The soup is basic and delicious - very flavorful chicken broth. The ice tea was a little sweet for me this time so I opted in to add some water after drinking half. We'll always be returning customers.

Worth the stop if you're in the area for some good hainan chicken! This is located right in the heart Alhambra near other great food spots. They have their own parking lot so nothing to worry about parking. There's not much seating inside so you'll probably have to eat at their patio, which is decorated quite well with green bushes. Their menu is pretty simple for the most part. Definitely order their hainan chicken. The rice was nice and buttery and their hainan chicken was juicy and tender. I would have loved it more if it came with pickled veggies and chicken soup. We also ordered the shrimp rolls for our appetizer and it was fried well, pretty tasty. However, the duck pizza was a miss... the dough was a bit raw and the cheese wasn't melted well. Also, the duck had a weird gamey taste. The service can be a miss but theyre working hard. They can get really busy on the weekends so just be prepared. Fyi... they do take credit card. For bathrooms, you would need to ask for the key inside. At the end, this deserves 4 stars. You can't beat the prices here as well.

I ordered the Breakfast Plate with the Grass-fed Hanger Steak as protein and a Yang's Set Meal with the Yuzu Miso Salmon. Both were mediocre, considering the price. Understandably, everything is sourced locally, but flavor wise didn't meet my expectations. The Breakfast Plate with Grass-fed Hanger Steak: The steak had a nice chimichurri sauce, but was extremely chewy. Wished everything was also salted a bit more, the entire dish was bland. The Yang's Set Meal with Yuzu Miso Salmon: The fish was seasoned well but for the price, I thought I would've had a slightly bigger piece. The rice was also on the harder side. Half fried/half grilled high on chicken rice, 8.5/10: both the grilled and fried chicken were hot and crispy. The chicken was cooked well and nicely seasoned. I thought the chicken could use a tad bit of salt though. The soup it came with was piping hot and accompanied the rice and chicken well.
