The food was good, the ambiance was decent, the service - I'd say half of the team dedicated to our party of three that night - was great. Here's the thing - we were here to celebrate an award I'd received, but I honestly would have been good with a more casual experience, less fussy menu and a quieter dining room to actually have the conversations without having to shout or lean way into the person speaking. But my boss insisted - bless her - that we needed something special to celebrate, so here we are. At least we didn't have to travel far, since we were staying at the Nomad for this trip. We were shown to our table right away, in the overcrowded and very loud dining room. We had two main servers - one that seemed delighted to see us and eager to help, the other that felt a little less welcoming and accommodating. Unfortunately, that waiter was our "main" guy, the one sending our orders back to the kitchen. We decided early on to get a bunch of dishes to share at the table, which was highly encouraged by both waiters. To start, we went with the Yellowtail ($29), which was fresh and light. We also ordered the Charred Octopus ($32) - I was surprised my boss agreed to that one - which was essentially one medium-ish tentacle served over a sauce, with some small roasted potatoes. I liked the flavor and thought the octopus was cooked well. The last Primi dish we ordered was the Braised Short Rib ($29). The meat was perfectly cooked, very tender and juicy. The risotto was a nice accompaniment, but there weren't many seasonal vegetables, as promised by the menu. After a lot of back and forth, we decided to share the Muscovy Duck (essentially a ravioli dish, $62) and a side of the Broccolini ($22) before capping everything off with the Branzino ($89). The duck ravioli came out first, and the presentation was a show. The pasta is made in-house, and you can tell it's fresh and good quality. The filling was quite rich - it also had foie gras in there - and tasted as gamey as you'd expect from a duck dish. The Branzino was flaky and flavorful, though it was a bit hard to parse and serve because of the skin. The broccolini was the surprise stand-out dish of the night, with the brightness from the lemon and the crunch of the almond slices. We made quick work of all the dishes as the team came by to refill drinks (cocktails for my boss and our guest, Nebbiolo by the glass for me) and water. We didn't think we'd order dessert - my boss is not a sweets person and I was already at capacity by then - but then the calls to celebrate started to circulate the table and before I knew it we'd placed an order for the Aranciata Trifle ($25, but the menu says that's for two guests, and they brought out three dishes for the whole table, so not sure if they charged us more for that.) The trifle is made table-side, with the waiter explaining each component as he fills each glass dish before serving. It was cold and soothing - a bit tart, a bit sweet - and the perfect end to a rich and filling meal.

Stopped by Scarpetta to check out their menu for the last day of restaurant week! The interior is dimly lit and we were seated in the bar area instead of the dining room which was a bit louder than we anticipated. There were lots of people there for after work drinks and food, so it was lively but loud, which took away from the dining experience. I'd recommend asking for the main dining room in the future. The restaurant week menu was solid with a variety of dishes that were all great. The Stromboli bread was a great starter and the eggplant dip it came with was amazing. The fluke was seasoned well and had some interesting texture with the crispy toppings on it. For entrees our group tried the chicken, spaghetti and the special cavatelli with truffle. The chicken was perfectly cooked as it was extremely tender and moist. It was also served with a crispy spaetzle on the side. Their iconic spaghetti was amazing as always, simple but elegant. The cavatelli special was served with a truffle foam which gave it a nice flavor and the pasta was al dente. For dessert we had the chocolate cake which was good, but would have been better served warm. Overall the food was great here but it was just a bit too loud in the bar dining area.

We went last night and were blown away by the food! We had the burrata (5/5) and cacio e pepe ravioli (4/5) to start. I had the spaghetti for my main (5/5) and the trifle (4/5) for dessert. I'll definitely be back next time I'm in town!

We come here every year when we visit NYC. The spaghetti is outstanding: I first got it at their Meatpacking location a few years ago, and was amazed by how good it was. The tomato flavor is really deep, I wouldn't be surprised if they boil their pasta in tomato water from the skins. We get it every year, and it's always amazing. This year, we also got the pumpkin gnocchi and the cavatelli, and they were even better than the spaghetti. The gnocchi had a unique texture and shape; it had a great chew to it. Also the sauce was outstanding: the combination of brown butter and rosemary was rich and savory and paired well with the pieces of pumpkin and the flavor of the gnocchi. The ambiance is also always great, especially during the holidays. It's so festive!

Had a nice Italian meal at Scarpetta this past week. The vibe inside is elevated, intimate and warm. The servers were very kind and attentive with refilling water. We started with a bottle of white wine with scallops. My one negative is that the reasonably priced (under $100 / bottle) wine selections were limited. We were able to find a good Soave we liked, but would suggest that they add a few more options to the menu! The scallops were delicious, but heads up it only comes with 2 scallops (which was a bit surprising given the price of the dish). The pumpkin gnocchi was also quite good - would for sure recommend. The carrot cake was ok, could have probably skipped it. Overall I would recommend Scarpetta for an elevated date night or dinner with family/colleagues. The food is high quality (albeit a bit expensive), and my experience was very positive!

I had the pleasure of coming to Scarpetta for the first time for a work dinner and loved every second of it. Upon arrival, we were seated at our table even though one of the members from our party was running late and it was appreciated. Martin was our server, he came out with waters right away and told us about the specials. He was super attentive all throughout the dinner. For appetizers, we shared the Seared Scallops, Short Rib and Octopus. They were all very good but the scallop was my favorite. It was so flavorful and cooked perfectly. The short rib was tender. We also shared 2 pasta dishes - the agnolotti and gnocchi. The agnolotti was stuffed with meat and sooo good. For dinner, I had the Muscovy duck. It was excellent. I had the chance to try the porterhouse that my coworkers were sharing and it was delish with the wine we ordered. For dessert, I had the flour-less chocolate cake. I know that not everyone likes a flour-less chocolate cake but wow - it's worth trying. I'll definitely come back again as it's a 10min walk from my office and well - the pasta alone was well worth it!

This restaurant is beautiful and is located inside a hotel, and our waiter was very attentive and charming. The bread service was unique and tasty- I loved the tomato sauce. The food was great: I split the pomodoro pasta and the mushroom pasta with my friend, and both were very fresh and flavorful. The pomodoro was truly excellent and I'd definitely recommend. My other friend enjoyed her agnolotti but found the portion a bit small. While the food was great, it came out within 5 minutes of ordering. The food actually came out before the drinks, which made our experience feel a bit rushed as we waited around 10 minutes for our table. We ended up waiting to eat our food until our drinks came, which were quite potent. We got complimentary biscotti at the end which was sweet and tasty. Overall, I'd recommend this place but the pacing of our meal was subpar for how much the food cost.

Came for a corporate dinner and forgot I had this spot bookmarked for pasta else I would have ordered more pasta, but was very impressed by all the food nonetheless and glad I got to try a bit of their pasta (which was all so tasty). Ended up getting the steak which was cooked medium rare and done properly (not overcooked as it often is). The lava cake was delicious and I also scarfed down all the desserts despite being stuffed from all the delicious apps. Service was good throughout (tho not sure how this translates over since this was a corporate event) and there was a nice private room for us. The restaurant itself was confusing for me to exit due to the random shop on the same floor before you go up.

Visited with a party of 6 to celebrate a birthday. The ambiance is all luxury. An extensive menu and wine list, with a large bar that makes very well balanced drinks. The food was great. The pastas are extremely flavorful, the octopus has a flavor I've never encountered, just amazing. The service is first class with several staff, from the waiter, runner, sommelier and even the manager stopping by the table to ensure we were well taken care of.

Fantastic Italian in Manhattan. Very old school NY. We opted for the decadent duck and foie gras raviolo in brown butter and the squid ink tagliatelle with lobster. Perfectly executed. Great service and super cool vibe in this gem!

Ambience was beautiful and nicely decorated for the holidays. Our server and Sommelier were excellent. Delicious foccacia and sourdough to start. The broccolini were crispy and came out quickly. I had the pumpkin gnocchi which was really yummy but more like an orecchiette than a gnocchi. The sauce was delicious. My boyfriend ordered the spaghetti and that sauce was show stopping super light and refreshing probably one of the best spaghettis I've ever tried. Overall great and will be back.

listen, this place is an institution and i've been wanting to go forever. that being said, it was good but i was a bit disappointed. let me explain... friday night with a reservation, the restaurant was crazy crowded and we had to wait maybe only 10 min for our table. not bad, but i heard people complaining after that that they had to wait a looong time even with reservations. perhaps it just happened to be a crazy night. still reservations are a must. the service was great - knowledgeable server, really prompt bussing, and everyone was friendly. no complaints. the food... ok so the main reason we came was for the pasta so we didn't even bother with the other stuff so take that as you will. to be perfectly fair, the flavors of almost all the dishes were spot on and delicious. the spaghetti, as promised, fantastic pomodoro sauce. the pumpkin gnocchi felt like fall in a bowl. the broccolini had a nice char and the potatoes were crispy on the outside and fluffy inside. but - for an upscale italian restaurant, i expected perfectly cooked pasta. the main reason i was disappointed was that nothing was al dente. the spaghetti was straight up soft. the gnocchi had more bite but was strangely dense. the short rib agnolotti had some bite, but was oddly sweet - that's the one dish the flavors were aids for me. i wanted to be fair on all the good - hence the 4 stars but i think 3.5 is more appropriate. maybe they had an off night, but all 3 pastas had something that needed work.

I came her to celebrate a friend's birthday and I liked Scarpetta. Service was great and the restaurant was beautiful. It's perfect for a date night! We ordered braised short rib, spaghetti, and cappellacci. My favorite dish was the braised short rib. The meat just melted in my mouth and it was seasoned well. It was a smaller dish but it was worth it. Both pastas were great and I didn't have a favorite out of the two. Solid and simple pasta dishes, you can't go wrong.

I came here on my birthday for the first time, and it was a great choice! I'm vegetarian, but the rest of my family isn't. It had great choices for all of us. I ordered the roasted cauliflower as an appetizer, but I had a hard time choosing from the many veggie side options they offer as apps! The cauliflower was delicious. I ordered the cacio e pepe ravioli as a main dish, and it was so good! The ravioli didn't taste overly cheesy like some other cheese ravioli, and it was a cool take on cacio e pepe. The photo I took doesn't do it Justice. For dessert, they brought out a chocolate cake, and it was incredible, probably my favorite of the night. I would come back again! read more

Decor, ambiance, food, and service all A+! I've never been to Scarpetta but passed it many times while in the city. I happened to mention to my friend that I was thinking of trying it to see what the hype was. I had no idea she'd practically force me out of my bed on a late Friday night to schlep from Brooklyn to Scarpetta, BUT SHE DID and didn't give me any other options (wish you could see the text messages between us. Shes relentless!) Upon arrival, we were warmly greeted by the hostess and quickly seated to be served. The warm breads and water first came out shortly followed by our orders. The food and service were perfect! We had the most flavorful scallops melting like warm butter in our mouths, tender, and perfectly charred octopus, duck, halibut, ravioli, wine, and cocktails. We wanted to eat everything on the menu but decided to not be greedy, especially since we were the last in the restaurant and the staff were most likely patiently waiting for us to leave so they could close for the night. The late night schlep to Scarpetta from Brooklyn was worth the expensive Uber drive, and yes, I'd most definitely be returning for more soon! Definitely recommend! read more

Un-real. Spent days researching the right place for a very special dinner in Nomad. Five dear old friends coming together for a reunion after years apart...each flying in from different parts of the country. Made the huge mistake of settling on Scarpetta for what was supposed to be the perfect balance of great food in an elegant, festive dining room. All five arrived exactly on time for our 7:30 reservation, upon which we were made to stand in the crowded entryway for a full 40 minutes before finally being seated, not in the stunning dining room, but in the shoddy looking bar, right next to the freezing doorway, where dozens of other waiting patrons crowded around us as the freezing winter air poured in throughout the entire meal. No one, and I mean no one -- not the two incompetent teenage hosts or any of the staff members -- ever attempted to apologize for the fiasco. Only when I went out of my way to hunt down the Manager toward the end of our evening did I get any acknowledgment of a what a shit show the night was, which led to a mere round of drinks being taken off the bill. The food was good, and the service, once we got it, generally okay. But under the disastrous circumstances the entire meal should have been comped. We had so much catching up to do, we refused to let the restaurant's immense failure ruin our evening together. But beware of this would-be gem being run like an airport Sheraton. read more

very pleasant dining experience. went here for my graduation dinner with some friends and family and highly recommend this restaurant for any occasion. we arrived a bit earlier than our reservation time and were able to be accommodated smoothly to a table. everything from the bread and dips, to the various entrees and desserts was phenomenal and delicious!! overall it was a very efficient dinner from the food coming out timely but fresh as well, to the waiter checking in periodically to ensure all our needs were met. read more

Came here on Saturday night for a friend's birthday dinner and had a good time! Ambiance was 10/10. The drinks were delicious. I ordered the margarita Italiana and loved it! So I didn't get the infamous spaghetti, which I'm a little disappointed by but that means I'll have to come back. However, we ordered a few appetizers that included the raw yellowtail, which was okay, tuna suschi (very truffley and wasn't a fan). For some reason, our waiter said that the portions were large and shareable so we ordered a few dishes. Not the case at all, which I expected so not sure why he told us that. Because we only ordered two pastas and the muscovy duck the manager raved about (he said it was life changing... it was definitely far from that) we obviously were left so hungry! I will say, I would definitely go back and order the cacio e pepe ravioli because it was so good. Now I did only have two pieces, but would for sure recommend. Besides the very tiny portions, this place is nice for a romantic dinner or night out with friends. Definitely not family style at all! read more

We've been to Scarpetta a couple of times now. This food is amazing, even the bread service. Service is efficient but not rushing. The restaurant can definitely get loud as it is quite busy, but the food makes it well worth it. You have to get the Spaghetti. You won't find a better dish that is nearly as simple. read more

This is a solid place with great food, but it's pretty expensive. As long I'm not buying though you can absolutely count me in, I love a hotel restaurant. Yellowfin crudo and octopus were my favorites, short rib agnolotti was too rich/sweet for me. The complimentary bread was SOOO good I could've eaten just that as my whole dinner. Their gluten free bread was even shockingly delish. read more

Packed on a Wednesday night. They gave us a bar table where it was too noisy so we moved. This review is solely for restaurant week. Very disappointed in the dumbed down portions. People next to us did not get restaurant week and you could see the same food but much larger portions, particularly the polenta. Only 4 entree options. Branzino was good but one note with nothing on the plate. Best part was desserts which were normal size. I do not recommend this place for restaurant week. It is not a good deal at all with the small portions. read more

Wow x5! Came here for a birthday dinner and was a recommendation from a friend. We had a reservation for 6pm, showed up at 5:55pm and was sat down immediately in the restaurant area. The bar area seemed to be filled with people enjoying happy hour in their post-work attire. We were served bread right away -- amazing selection! Our server gave us menus and asked about allergies right away, as well as going over the whole menu with recommendations. All of the food and drinks were beyond delicious. We ordered the Burrata for an appetizer (so fresh) and for dinner we got Short Rib & Bone Marrow Agnolotti as well as the Tagliatelle. For dessert we had the Valrhona Chocolate Cake. 10/10, would definitely come back and try their other locations around the world as well. read more

I came here for a friends birthday dinner and just assumed it was another Italian spot in New York City. WOW WAS I WRONG Italian is definitely my top three favorite food groups and let me say this place quickly rose to the top of my Italian recommended places. We ordered the restaurant week prefix menu, including the delicious complementary selection of breads, which I would return for alone. We ordered the yellowtail sashimi, butter and sage agnolotti and ended with the olive oil cake and marscapone. Everything was absolutely to die for melt in your mouth. The spicy tequila drinks were incredible as well. The service was on point as well. Lemons with the water we're provided and water was always refilled (we had a large party). The ambiance is cute dimly lit perfect for dates or catching up with friends over dinner. 10/10 will come back and stuff my face again and again and again. read more

Scarpetta has an upscale ambiance offering dishes with familiar flavors. The Creamy Polenta is an absolute must! It was savory, buttery, and creamy. Another absolute must is the Short Rib & Bone Marrow Agnolotti. This pasta dish was perfect; each bite exploded with rich flavor from the short rib & bone marrow. The garlic and horseradish surprisingly blended well together. It was super filling yet didn't feel dense/heavy at all while eating it. I thought the Spaghetti would be basic given how simple it sounded, but the portion was actually deceiving and the freshness of the tomato & basil came through in each bite. If you come as a group, I highly recommend splitting a few desserts. All 3 were nicely presented and had different sugar profiles. I particularly enjoyed the banana toffee which balanced out the richness from the Valrhona Chocolate Cake. Bitten by crazy mosquitos and other creepy crawlies even though I was wearing long pants. It was raining outside, so maybe that's why? I didn't understand it. Bathroom is a bit of a walk. Food quality was fine, that's never an issue here. Drink menu is a bit lackluster. The after-work happy hour crowd can be taxing. RECOMMENDED. read more

We walked in for our 10pm reservation, although we waited almost 40 mins before we were sat. The waiter promptly brought over a bottle of Prosecco on the house since there was such a delay in seating. Mind you it was a Friday night and it was fairly busy. I do want to say this is a beautiful restaurant with a very romantic modern vibe. The waiter then came over brought us complimentary bread with a few spreads and went over the menu while asking us what we had a taste for. I really appreciated the effort he took in getting to know our likes and dislikes and didn't rush us at all in ordering. We opted to start with the Burrata, with roasted apple, delicata, butternut squash purée, which was delicious. We also ordered the Charred Octopus, with marble potato, artichoke, celery, scallion, guazzetto. Everything was beautifully plated and tasted so good. Next up was dinner and we ordered a few dishes, the Short Rib & Bone Marrow Agnolotti, Tagliatelle, and the Ravioli Cacio E Pepe. Let me just say all pastas were rich in flavor , very fresh and the portions were just enough for one person where you didnt feel as though you over indulged. Came here for the lunch pre-fixe menu - $38. Basically $38 for 2 courses as the third - biscotti - isn't really a course. Still a good deal though. Great service with nice ambience. Good place to go to for dates, formal lunch and business meetings. The bread basket was pretty amazing. It came out fresh, I could eat a couple of servings of it. Great restaurant for a date night or a nice night out with family or loved ones. More of an intimate setting. The complimentary bread is really nice since you get a variety of types. My favorite was the focaccia. Went with a big group and was able to sample a little bit of a lot of different dishes. One of my favorites was the grilled branzino - perfectly tender and the sweetness of the fish was perfectly balanced with just the right amount of salt. I HIGHLY recommend the tomato basil spaghetti - such a simple, yet highly palatable dish. That was by far my favorite dish, but I do wish you were able to add a protein to it. Great romantic date spot. It is a little pricey and food was overall ok. There is a vegetarian menu, but only for dinner. We came here for lunch, and felt that options were limited. We tried the tasting menu which included an appetizer, main course, and dessert. Overall we thought the food was average (3/5), but the ambience gives it a +1. Fancy Italian restaurant located inside a hotel. It has a dark and moody interior that would make it a great date spot. They have a lot of waitstaff - it almost felt like there were as many of them as customers at times. But it did mean that the service was good and very reachable. Also, they kindly brought our friend some biscotti and a candle for her birthday. The place does get very crowded. They're known for their pasta, which they say they make in-house. Our waiter recommended the spaghetti but I think $36 for pasta, tomato, and basil is a little steep lol. They have an amazing complimentary bread basket - they were all great breads but my favorite was the one that was like a "pizza" with meat/cheese. Burrata ($24) - this was good, but not mind-blowing. It came with 2 small pieces of burrata but the flavor combo was nice - the apple was a little overpowering though. Paired nicely w/ the bread. Lobster Tagliolini Nero ($42) - this was great, but the squid ink flavor didn't really come through. It had a plentiful amount of lobster though. Pasta was perfectly aldente and chewy. Branzino ($42) - I tried a piece of this and it was quite good. A bit crispy, which I liked, and flavorful. Came here for dinner on a weekday to catch up with a friend from west coast that I haven't seen for 10 years. Other than getting food poisoning the next day, we both enjoyed the food and the atmosphere. Service was good and the waitress checked on us every 2 seconds. Lots of after work happy hour ish gatherings, and the lighting is pretty dark but good for a first date maybe? Lol I started showing symptoms of food poisoning the next day around 10, we finished our dinner around 8:30 on the night before. I wasn't sure and didn't want to believe that i could have gotten it from here. Yellowtail sashimi, lobster pasta and black cod. I reached out to the restaurant but never heard back. Just wanted to asked if they had other customers that had the same problem. And definitely, definitely would not want to come back here at least in a long while. I'm traumatized now when I look at seafood or any raw foods. First timer for food poisoning, and the same weekend I had to miss out on a luxury Malibu wedding food. :/ So, if you have important things planned after eating here, I would recommend being basic and avoid the seafood. Didn't have the best experience here. It took over an hour to get four plates of food and over 20 mins to get two drinks. (We were one of three parties in the restaurant, not sure why it took so long) The service could have been better, the waiter took forever to come by to take or order. The dinner atmosphere has a dim light and soft music. It was relaxing and elegant. I went with a few friends for a birthday party. Focaccia bread with three different spreads were a complimentary delight. $120 Truffle Pasta - tasted like Alfredo with truffle shavings. It was delicious and worth a try. You basically pay for the truffle shavings. Traditional Spaghetti - it had a sweetish sauce taste. It tasted a bit like chef boyardee. But a fancier version. I think if we can add something to it, might make it worth it. The moscovy duck was worth the buy. It did not have that strong duck taste. It was tender and warm. I recommend to try this dish. Halibut was good with the sauce. It needed zest or citrus to it. The birthday girl really enjoyed it because she poured a lot of the sauce (from the plate) on it. Eat it with the sauce! Scallops were delicious. Nice and brown on the sides. You can taste the olive oil marinated inside. Diced apples were a part of the dish. The burrata is well worth it. East Village Pizza is SOOOO good--easily one of the best I've had! They have a great variety of vegetarian options, which is fantastic. Anwar was incredibly kind and patient, taking the time to explain all the different pizza choices. They also offer pizza by the slice, which is a plus. The presentation of the pastas are beautiful; they put on a "mini show" by opening up the lid at the same time, making it very "instagram worthy" and cool! However, the portion size is VERY small.. we finished our pastas after couple bites; but this was okay because we were asking for refills on our bread baskets :D It definitely is on the pricey side, but I think most of it is for the ambiance and service. Scarpetta was the most overrated, well-known spot that we went to in NYC. I had high hopes and was so excited to make the reservation. It had been on my bookmark list for ages, so was looking forward to the meal. We arrived just a few minutes before our reservation, but had to wait close to an hour to be seated at our table. Our reservation was for 9pm and we didn't eat until far after 10pm. I will say that the cocktails and the atmosphere were both great, but everything else was lacking. We sat in the main dining room at a small table and were served their house bread which was pretty darn good. For food, we shared a few appetizers and entrees. The burrata was fresh and creamy, but the dish lacked flavor. Presentation was gorgeous though, which was the same across the board. The scallop appetizer was delicious, but 3 scallops for $30 wasn't worth it. For entrees, I had the foie gras agnolotti and my friend had the spaghetti. Again, flavor wasn't there. Everything needed salt. Our experience would have still been okay, but sadly we were seated directly next to a couple that was inappropriately touching each other for the entire hour we were there. It was so bad that the manager had to come over multiple times to ask them to stop, but they were never kicked out. The manager also came over to us and another table in the vicinity and apologized multiple times. After the 3rd apology, he stated "I am super sorry.. I will take care of you guys", but still did not ask the couple to leave. We would have asked to move, but there were no empty tables in the dining room. It seems that the manager would have handled this better. Disappointing experience overall. read more

I absolutely love this place for breakfast & lunch -it's the reason I tolerate some of the issues I don't love about The James Hotel which is connected-- that said, the James is stil a good option for a stay if NoMad is where you need to be for the sake of convenience -- there is also a busy but fun lounge downstairs for after dinner drinks w/ a DJ- their bread is amazing, the salad greens are so fresh -- their pasta and espresso martinis and lattes and eggs served on top of lentils make the best breakfast ! 4.8: Great vibes and great food overall. It did take us a while to get seated, but it didn't put a big damper on our night. In the meantime we waited at the bar to catch up with our friends before being seated. The hostesses kept updating us so that was appreciative. The top-notch food and service ahead made us forget about the wait. We loved all the pastas we got. Never got apps, so I can't comment on those, but every pasta dish was delicious. Can't complain at all about Scarpetta. The hostesses and the waitstaff were incredibly accommodating and professional. It is difficult to find that level of service even when it is an expensive meal. The pasta was superb. We got the cacio e pepe, duck and foi gras ravioli, spaghetti, veal tenderloin and the burrata. I think best to stick with the pastas, the veal tenderloin, although cooked perfectly, did not have any flavor. The cacio e pepe and the ravioli were very flavorful, but better as a side, not a main course. The portion sizes are probably recommended sizes, but if you are really hungry, get at least an appetizer. Btw for all those with toddlers. The restaurant is attached to a hotel. And you use the hotel restroom for Scarpetta. There are two staircases that your tot can climb up and down to kill some time and energy if needed. There is also a changing table in the bathroom stall (the biggest one at the end). read more

Loved my Friday night dinner date at Scarpetta! The ambiance was fancy and old fashioned, which made me feel like I was in a movie. The service was nice and punctual. The food was very enjoyable! We went during restaurant week with limited menu but the tomato basil pasta was so simple yet so delicious! The mushroom rosotto was so flavorful it was probably my favorite! Very good Italian meal in NY, but the wait to be seated was ridiculous. We had an 830 reservation, we checked in at 830, and we were not seated until 925. The hostess kept saying that they were waiting for tables to leave to seat us but 55 minutes after our reservation time is insane. So happy the food made up for this! Sommelier helped us pick an amazing bottle of wine! We ordered the yellowtail crudo, the octopus, the lobster pasta, cavatelli pasta, ravioli cacio y Pepe, and the Branzino! The octopus was a highlight! So tender. All the pastas were delicious and you could taste they were handmade and the branzino was amazing with the herb pesto sauce it came with! For dessert we got the Panna cotta and bambino. Panna cotta was very good! Bambino was good but really rich. I'd say the portion is big enough for average people. For your reference, my friend and I ordered one appetizer, two entrees and one dessert, and we were full after the meal. They also serve free bread basket before the meal, and it's delicious.

Even if we wouldn't have gotten a window table and it wasn't Christmas, the vibes and interior of this place would have still been great. We went in December night of 2024 so some aspects of the menu have changed however, most of the dishes still appear to be on their menu as of now, June 2026. It appears most changes comes to the type of pasta used in a dish, aspects around a dishes main focus and gelato/dessert flavors. Everything we ordered was an 8 or above out of 10. The beet salad (BARBABIETOLE) is easily 10/10 and a top 3 salad we have ever had. The chocolate cake with gelato (TORTINO DI CIOCCOLATO) was 10/10 and the best dessert we had at Da Andrea. We ordered 3 total, including the ricotta cheesecake and tiramisu. Tuna Tartare, gorgonzola pasta and bolognese are 9's. The fritto misto, the other pasta we ordered and the other 2 desserts are 8's. If you're in New York make reservations and go. My Wife found this place and made reservations. Only thing I regret after looking at additional photos is not ordering the grilled pork chop.

We called the very next morning and were told our bag had been FOUND and was being held in Lost & Found. We were specifically told to come pick it up. So, as out-of-town visitors staying in New Jersey, we spent nearly $100 on an Uber and several hours of our day returning to retrieve it. When we arrived, the bag had mysteriously vanished. What followed was one of the most ridiculous customer service experiences I've ever had. We were met by a group of very young, completely unprepared hostesses who seemed utterly clueless about the situation. Nobody knew where the bag was. Nobody knew who had logged it. Nobody knew who we spoke to on the phone. Nobody appeared interested in finding answers. I repeatedly asked for a manager and got nowhere. It felt like nobody in the building had the authority, training, or desire to solve a problem that their own staff created. Let's review: Your employee tells us the bag is there. We spend nearly $100 on transportation to come get it. We arrive. The bag is gone. And the response is essentially a collection of blank stares and shoulder shrugs. No urgency. No accountability. No explanation. No solution. I've never seen a business so casually waste a customer's time and money. We left feeling completely dismissed and frankly wondering whether anyone at Fraunces Tavern has any idea what customer service is supposed to look like. Hundreds of dollars spent at the establishment. Nearly $100 spent returning because we trusted what we were told. And in the end, absolutely nothing except aggravation, frustration, and a complete loss of confidence in this business. One of the worst customer service experiences I have ever had.

Everyone knows what this is like and it's to be expected in life, but NOT at a high-end restaurant where you've paid a significant margin above the average meal, and don't even get a full pita. Guys, do some QC and soul-searching - and be generous with pita.

Scarpetta has been a name glued onto my best friend's vocabulary ever since I met her. So, it was only natural for my gfs and I to celebrate my best friend's birthday at this space. Given its location, in the unfortunate area called MeatPacking, I wasn't sure what type of crowd to expect. I'm someone close to my mid30s and hanging out 'to be seen' is something I graduated in my 20s. Loud men with slick hair and women in heels they can barely walk in (I endearingly call women who can't walk in their heels 'the mantis') are the general crowd even on school nights in that neighborhood, and sure enough, the bar area of Scarpetta was filled with obnoxiousness. "Hi, I was wondering if you could squeeze me and my lady friend in...we have no reservations, but, you know who I am..right?" (barf) Luckily, all that ended once we were seated in the dining area. And everything - EVERYTHING - changed. First of all, the service is impeccable. Given, our table did consist of beautiful young ladies (minus me - my friends are definitely hot) and maybe the waiter just felt like being super friendly to us. Still, he was attentive, patient and willing to explain and help us select the best meal. And not only was he nice - the sommelier, the bussers... they all did their jobs with smiles and humor. Food was amazing. For appetizers we shared the Fritto Misto (there are fried anchovies in here - yum for me, but not yum for many), Burrata and the creamy polenta. The creamy polenta was a clear winner out of the three, but everything was delicious. And I think with our waiter's help, we chose 3 distinctively different dishes that played out well with each other. We shared 3 pasta dishes - the cavatelli with rabbit, the agnolotti with fonduta, and a linguine with parmigianno and sausage. Out of the 3, unfortunately, the cavatelli was the least favorite of mine. We felt that the pasta itself was too 'floury' (thick - mealy) and I felt that the rabbit was drenched in too much five-spice or some other type of gamey-flavor taste killing herb. And then we had 2 fish entrees - the cod and the halibut. Some people might have thought that these two would be too similar and wouldn't have ordered them together. But, again with the help of our waiter, we had the most amazingly prepared fish dishes ever. They were so different from each other too - which was the nice thing about it. During the entire meal, we were never rushed. Actually, they suggested that they had brought out the pastas too late and to compensate for that, they gave us a complimentary quartino of wine and a dessert. Meanwhile, we were actually happy with the pace of the meal, since we didn't have to 'stuff; ourselves with the ginormous amount of food we had consumed. FYI, the breadbasket is an entire course of its own, filled with a variety of delicious italian breads. The most notable of them all is the foccacia baked with slices of salumi and cheese in it. We named it 'a sandwich' and even asked the waiter "why are you guys serviing us a SANDWICH before a meal??" While I would ask you to practice caution with the breadbasket because it could easily stuff you up before the actual food, i have to say... it's yummmmmmy. Definitely go hungry!! read more

Each of the last three or four times we have been to Scarpetta (for the world class spaghetti), the experience has been tarnished immediately upon arrival. My wife and I (always well-dressed) are directed to a poor table (small, in the middle of a banquette, etc.) when far better tables for two are unoccupied. When we ask to be seated at one of the better tables, we are instantly told, without any investigation by the hostess, that those tables have been reserved. When I inquire about the method of reserving a specific table so that I can do so next time, there is no meaningful response and a lot of annoyed indignation that I would dare to ask. (Clearly, there is no such procedure.) Most recently, the hostess just turned on her heels when we declined her selected table, so we sat down where we wished and waited to see whether attempts would be made to evict us. I understand the urge in places like New York (I've lived here for 27 years) to preserve the better tables in case someone recognizable who is likely to order expensive wines from the over-priced wine list walks in. Call me old-fashioned, but I think a restaurant open to the public should provide a more egalitarian experience. After we were seated, the service was atrocious. The appetizer was delivered one minute after the bread, and placed in front of my wife's empty chair as she had gone to the restroom when the bread was delivered. The main course was delivered as soon as the appetizer was removed; we objected to the waitress, who told us "you don't need to eat it if you aren't ready" (apparently, there either is no training in spacing courses or she chose to ignore it) and rudely instructed the bus boy to "take it away" as she turned on her heels and walked off. The clear intent was to regain our table as fast as possible. This combination of events led to a discussion with a very polite and sympathetic manager. The problem: he lacked credibility, as much of this behavior (apart from the gratuitous rudeness), as systemic as it is, is obviously ordered from the top. Despite the manager seemingly providing direct supervision of our service, our waitress did not appear with our check for about 20 minutes after we requested it of the assistant manager who seemed to be watching our table. So, is the world's best spaghetti worth this ordeal? I'm increasingly coming to the answer: No. read more

If Scarpetta insists on elevating modest regional Italian fare to the status of fashion-conscious haute cuisine, it's going to take more than a designer dining room full of Hermés-colored table mats to do it. And for all of Scott Conant's high-minded culinary accomplishments in the past, he still can't grasp the simple idea of "agro dolce." It means "sweet and sour" in Italian. Agro dolce's most fundamental paradigm is a simple rustic condiment called "caponata," which is essentially a conglomeration of fried eggplant nuggets, capers, celery, raisins, tomatoes and olive oil. This is what Conant puts on his table at Scarpetta for diners to sample before they order. Nice idea, but it was all agro and no dolce--an inadequate mingling of eggplant and tomato paste so acidic it tasted as though it was marinated in a car battery. Completely misses the point of the sweet and sour interplay. I've had better caponata out of a can. Though the cop-out caponata looked better than the accompanying basket of pizzeria-quality stromboli. I'm convinced that Conant rifles through the garbage of Ray's Pizza every night in order to bring these greasy little salami rolls to his own restaurant the next day, but both were offered gratis, so who am I to complain? Cauliflower panna cotta with crab, brescia ossetra caviar, sea urchin & truffle was served with slices of brioche, but despite the congregation of noble aquatic creatures, it ultimately tasted like a deli seafood-salad sandwich on toast. An excessively sweet butternut squash cappellacci dusted with grated amaretto cookie had a bit of an identity crisis, forgetting that it was a pasta course, not dessert. Now I know where all the caponata's "dolce" went. Duck & foie gras ravioli drizzled with marsala reduction was admittedly flavorful and rich, though sloppily plated and harkened back to last decade's idea of haute Italian. Maybe it satisfies the out-of-towners who never got to experience a dish like this out in the burbs, but this particular preparation didn't belong on the menu. As for the Olive Oil Cake with poached pears and concord grape gelato: I've had better OO cake. Plus the poached pairs were too Del Monte tasting. This pricey menu sure looks great on paper, but ultimately ends up as vacant and confused as a coked-up runway model who still hasn't realized that she's fallen off the catwalk. read more

It was our anniversary,our friend recommended us to try this place. Our reservation was for 10.30pm because they had nothing before that..however First thing we walkin and see empty tables in the front.. We arrived early by 9.45pm and asked the hostess(amateur) if there's a table available earlier then please get us seated..she said she will try..We r still seeing the front tables empty but not bothering the hostess assuming it's reserved.. Now 30 minutes pass by,we are still waiting,we see a couple walkin and they tell the hostess we don't have a reservation but mentioned they knew somebody,and they were given a table in 5mins.. We r still waiting and mind you they have no waiting area we r just standing by the bar.. After 35mins I ask the hostess what about these tables in the front..and she goes like'Oh you don't mind seating in front' I was like ya we just wanna eat and get out of there..Wish she had asked us 40mins ago I would have said yes..but know that we waited this long wanted to see what special arrangements they had for us inside.. Now it's 10.30pm our reservation timing..Still no table..eventually they seat us inside at 10.45pn In a nice table.. Umm the food was good.that's y the 2 stars.. For main we had,spaghetti which was great..but steep price $24 ..but still worth it as it's perfectly balanced with the sauces and spices. I had high hopes for my dining experience at Scarpetta in NYC, having made reservations for 8:15 PM on a Tuesday evening. Unfortunately, the overall experience turned out to be somewhat disappointing. Reservations and Ambiance: Our reservation was for 8:15 PM, but we had to wait almost 45 minutes to be seated. Despite the delay, the trendy ambiance of Scarpetta was undeniable. It's the kind of place where you want to dress up and enjoy a night out in style. Service: The hostess and wait staff were indeed very friendly, which was a redeeming aspect of the evening. They made us feel welcome and provided excellent service throughout the meal. Appetizers: We started with the bread options, which were nice and served with delicious spreads. Admittedly, our hunger might have played a role in making them taste even better. The Creamy Polenta provided by the house was a standout, full of flavor and absolutely delicious. The Braised Short Ribs, served as appetizers, were also a delightful surprise, bursting with flavor. Main Courses: However, despite the promising start, the main courses were where Scarpetta fell short of our expectations. For my main course, I ordered the Tagliatelle pasta, while others in our group chose the Agnolotti and Pappardelle. Unfortunately, none of these dishes impressed us; they were just okay. Dessert: Our disappointment in the main courses led us to skip dessert, which was a decision we didn't take lightly. In summary, Scarpetta in NYC offers a great ambiance and friendly service, which are undeniable pluses. The bread options, Creamy Polenta, and Braised Short Ribs (as appetizers) were delightful. However, the main courses, including the pasta dishes, left us underwhelmed. While I appreciate the excellent service, I find it difficult to recommend Scarpetta solely based on the food experience. It's possible that my visit was an exception, but my overall impression was less than stellar. read more

We have been going to Scarpetta since 2008 when it first opened in the Meatpacking district in Manhattan. Food quality used to be stellar and service used to be good. Even when it first relocated to its current location on Madison Avenue , it was still maintaining its allover class and quality. Sadly today, this is no longer the case. We went for a birthday celebration this evening. 1) No one upon arrival made us feel welcome, no one remarked on us being there for a birthday-even though their Seven Rooms reservation system asks to upload a picture of yourself and asks for your event so that the desk can recognize you upon arrival. 2) We ordered a bottle of champagne. The person serving it (not sure whether he was one of the "managerial staff" or a sommelier) did not allow us to taste it and started to pour heavy pours in regular wine glasses. When I gently remarked "...oh I guess we are not tasting!" he made a garbled comment about them "..serving champagne in these glasses". This is fine. I have been to many restaurants abroad and here in the US where wine glasses are used for champagne or sparkling wine. However; NOT with heavy pours. (Also curious, because the table next to us received prosecco (!) in champagne flutes.) 3) Our server, who had been a nice enough person throughout the meal, while we were still in the middle of dessert and coffee, abruptly placed the check on the table saying "I'll take this when you are ready". One of the biggest faux pas in a "decent" restaurant. The food was good. But not enough to overcome these hideous mistakes that were made. Management and at least part of the service was crass and unprofessional. The service related rudeness and bizarre behavior made me never want to go back again. A shame. I had the chance to visit Scarpetta for a team dinner 2 days ago, and it was such a treat! The ambiance here is right up my alley: dim lighting that sets the perfect mood for conversation and relaxation. Whether you're catching up with friends, impressing a date, or having a special meal with family, this place knows how to create the right vibe, for sure! We started with some amazing appetizers: the Yellowtail, Tuna 'Susci,' and Burrata. I've been dipping my toes into more sushi lately, and now I can officially add Tuna 'Susci' to my list of wins (Yellowtail was already a favorite of mine). Each bite was fresh and packed with flavor. It's a must-try if you love seafood. For my main dish, I had the Short Rib & Bone Marrow Agnolotti, and oh my goodness, it was incredible. Rich, decadent, and perfectly cooked... I was in pasta heaven. I don't remember what the rest of the team had because I was too busy savoring every bite of my dish, but all the dishes were a hit all around the table. We also enjoyed some fantastic drinks. I had a glass of Verdicchio, which was crisp and refreshing, pairing perfectly with the appetizers. I also got to taste the Negroni Mediterraneo, and wow, it was delicious! Bold and smooth, with a unique twist that made it stand out from your usual Negroni. Both drinks really elevated the experience. The service was excellent. Our waiter was friendly, attentive, and made the whole experience feel seamless. I really appreciate when the staff knows how to strike the balance between checking in and giving you space to enjoy your food and company. This was one of the best meals of my life! We were never rushed! I felt as if we were celebrities. We were catered to! As far as the quality of the food.. dont know where to start. It was all fantastic! My suggestion is tell the wait staff what you like and have them surprise you! They also educated us on a lot of the different foods on the menu.(We had some misconceptions on Sweet breads) Later into the meal we were surprised to have the Chef come out and introduce himself to us. Wow!! Scott Conant is a wonderful chef! Sounds like he has a lot on his plate with new restaurants opening up and down the east coast! Good for him! As far as the deserts... Double WOW!! awesome! This is a great place to impress a date or just have very casual meal with some friends. I would recommend getting reservation 2 weeks in advance for your selected time. It gets very busy. Not sure how the wait staff does it! But our meal and service was flawless. This coming from one of the most critical people around. FYI: Bathrooms were very clean! Last night I went to Scarpetta for my management team's holiday gathering. It was my second time at the restaurant and i have to say, it was much better a few months ago. We were not impressed with the food at all. It started off OK with the bread basket - stuffed breads and caponata were a nice touch. But we ordered a bunch of apps and they barely fit on the table - they should've replated the 8 apps to fit on our table of 8 so we could share. A restaurant of that caliber should know that. Also the fritto misto had hardly any fish in it, but somehow an annoying flavor of anchovy. Our second course came out and same thing happened, no space! They only thing that was good up until this point was the wine - which I ordered. The entrees came out and I had the dry aged sirloin - which I am pretty sure was NOT dry aged. My colleagues agreed. Dessert was OK - the server took the liberty to order everything. If you go, you have to order a lot of food because the portions are small. So be sure to try everything. I was really excited to try this place as I've only heard great things... however I have never left a restaurant feeling more ripped off. We started with the scallop and sunchoke appetizer, which was actually a nice start to the meal. However when my short rib ravioli arrived I almost wanted to send it back before even trying it. The portion was so ridiculously small that it took me all of about a minute to finish the entire plate, and that was taking it slow. The raviolis themselves were tiny, with barely any filling inside and I could not for the life of me taste anything close to short rib. There was a total lack of any sauce besides an overbearing amount of lemon juice squeezed on top so the taste was very dry. My friend ordered the orange duck entree which I tried and it had a nice flavor however also a very small portion, three sliced strips of duck atop some caramelized endive. So there were some good points, but based on the portion size and price and my pasta entree, there's no reason why I would want to go back. read more

I came here for a dinner with friends, and it was such a great experience! We started off with an amazing bread basket that included focaccia and what looked like a ham and cheese roll. The octopus appetizer was a highlight--so tender and flavorful. For our entrees, we had a variety to choose from: cod, duck, and multiple pastas. Everything was delicious, made with high-quality ingredients that really stood out. The duck was succulent, and the cod was perfectly cooked, but the pastas were a real treat--each one had its own unique flavor and texture. The atmosphere was great too--comfortable and welcoming. Came here for an anniversary dinner. The food was amazing from start to end! Every dish was perfectly delicious. We had the braised short rib for the appetizer, and instantly regretted not ordering more. It was melt in your mouth tender and wonderfully seasoned. For the main course I got the spaghetti, which was perfectly cooked and had a lovely tomato sauce. My wife got the foie gras ravioli. It was rich and flavorful without being overwhelming. Our dessert was the coconut panna cotta, which had a nice flavor to it but was a bit overpowered by the sweetness of the guava soup it came with. A great meal overall, but I'll have to dock one star for the service. Our waitress left our water and wine glasses empty and we had to hunt her down for refills. read more

i'm sure most people on yelp are like me - reviews for terrible or amazing places. Scarpetta is a fancied restaurant soo I did expect above average service and quality. I had the spaghetti, roasted mushrooms, and tuna susci with my date. Roasted mushroom - stir fried like with a heavy pour on the oil. PERSONALLY a little too much oil for me but my boyfriend didn't mind at all. Tuna Susci - I am a fan of this dish as the presentation was pleasing - quite nice take from an american place on a Japanese-like raw tuna with vegetables. I liked it because" healthy " was the first comment I gravitated towards. lastly the spaghetti was both of our favs - simple yet perfect. Not sure if the restaurant was having an off night, but all I can say was a waste of money. Bread basket was delicious as others have noted. The polenta truffle appetizer was a mess. Luckily our waited removed it from the bill after promising that it was one of the signature dishes. My friend had the beet casonsei which was delicious and quite unique. I had the signature spaghetti and all I can say is that it was majorly lacking in flavor. The sauce was tasteless and you could probably whip up something tastier in your own kitchen. We finished dinner off with the chocolate cake which was delicious. All in all, would not recommend given the abundance of other more delicious, less pricey restaurants in the city. read more

First time at this place and came from yelp reviews. Wasn't disappointed , the food is not only delicious it is unique. Everything is highly detailed and service is a bit overwhelming but I guess that's how it is with gourmet restaurants. The design of the place is spacy and beautiful. Dressy attire is required, so don't where a hat inside - they will ask to remove it . overall a nice one time experience even if u are not wealthy rich :-P . Two appetizers, two entrees , glass of wine($13) with no dessert came out to $150 with the top. The one thing we were disappointed from is that this fine Italian restaurant doesn't serve Tiramisu as one of the option for dessert . :-( read more

Let me first say that this was not a good experience. It was not it. I expected this place to be decent at least. I'm visiting from LA and all I can say is that this was a waste of a dinner out. I've had better food. We first started off with the yellow tail and immediately sent it back, my gosh, this was so bad. How could they even serve such terrible nasty fish. It was so spoiled. Yuck yuck. We got the octopus and it was so so. This was a little suspicious. Then we got pasta and cod. The cod was pretty decent and the pasta was pretty good. We got the chocolate cake and that was very good. Over all I would not come back here and go to other restaurants. Do better Scarpetta! read more

Food was amazing. Atmosphere was great. Not too pretentious. Best spaghetti you'll ever eat. Best table bread ever. The pasta was perfect. The sauce was flavorful. They say you rate an Italian restaurant by it's spaghetti. If that's the case you will not find a better Italian restaurant. If you have any respect for Italian food, Italian Americans, or anything Italian you will come here and try this. Watching, "Chopped" I used to think Scott Conant deserved a punch in the face but at the end of the day the guy can cook and I'd like to shake his hand. Do yourself a favor and eat here. Also I must acknowledge the pre-dinner bread. Every restaurant should serve Stromboli. Amazing! read more

One of the very best Italian restaurants in New York. It's not classic though - the atmosphere is a little "clean," not super warm and friendly, and the portions are not what you'd typically find in a standard Italian place in the US. Not that they're too small, just that we're usually used to getting so much food you either have to take half home, or be rolled out. The pasta though is fantastic, the desserts are delicious, and the entrees well prepared. Not the place to go for your moms spaghetti and meatballs, but you can have an excellent meal here, and have your eyes opened as to how Italian food can be when prepared in the right hands. read more
