From all appearances the Scotrun Diner is your typical hometown diner. Locally owned and operated in a great location for tourists and regulars. As always diners are a big hit or miss so I am going in hopeful. I was promptly seated as there was a good bit of customers and still plenty of open tables. Ordered a hot chocolate as I am a fiend for it. Although I dislike hot chocolates that are made with a water base, this was surprisingly tasteful. Placed an order for the 222 special, a pierogi appetizer, and chipped beef on toast. Took roughly 25 minutes to come out so not the best nor the worst. At first glance everything looked very bland, but I was always told looks can be deceiving so let's keep our hopes up. Nope, looks were spot on. Pierogis were more than likely Mrs. T's store bought and popped in the oven. So not terrible but not exactly desirable. My girlfriend enjoyed her 222 special but I'd say the eggs were more along the lines of 1 to 1.5 eggs max. And as for the chipped beef; it was severely lacking any kind of flavor. On top of that, rather underneath, the bread was not toasted and became a soft soggy mess from the gravy. Home fries were decent. All in all, the service was decent at best, and the food we ordered was also very mundane and bland. The saving grace for Scotrun's Diner has to be the omelets and desserts that I did not get to try. I did see and smell some go by and they looked sublime. Would try again and order something else. 2.5/5 read more

After a long trip I stopped here for what I was hoping to be a good ol down home place filled with flavors unique to the area. I had about another 40 minute drive and I gotta tell you my ride home was full of regret. I was really disappointed with me and my companies meals. I had the pizza burger which had some flavor to it and kinda large but it was more like a cafeteria mass produced burger instead of what I was hoping for at a local diner. Even with the pizza cheese on it, it tasted pretty much bland. I should of knew this place wasn't gonna be delightful when I had to order a Sprite instead of the water I normally drink. The reason being is that there was some pink, what looked like sprinkles on the bottom of my water. To top it all off when the bill came for us it was $30! We could have ate so many other places with better food at that cost. If the bill came back $20 I would have gave this place a two star instead on the one star I'm giving it now. It just sucked here. The diner itself feels outdated but there's pretty limited options around. It's either pay resort prices or travel out to this little gem for breakfast. We stopped on the way in and again on the way back home. Breakfast is much cheaper than NY. The waitresses were very nice and attentive to the 8 of us. They never fussed when we asked for 4 different things each run around. The food came out quick, all the orders were correct and we all left very full and happy. The chicken and waffles was accompanied by a gravy that was really delicious. Idk what it was about the chicken but it was coated in a sweet batter. I have had crunchier chicken but wasn't complaining. They served an abundance of chicken for a single Belgium waffle. The breakfast burrito was egg, sausage and cheese that melted to the bottom of the wrap so hold it upside down a bit while it cools. The hash browns were really good! Deff a perfect match. My bf got French toast that's was nice and fluffy. We've all had better bacon but it wasn't fatty so I was happy. Coffee cups are super tiny. Time for a revamp. read more

After reading the reviews I decided to try this diner. As soon as I stepped in I knew I made the right choice, we were greeted right away and given a booth by the window. This review is for the diner, only. My husband and I were on our way out of the Ponocos and needed somewhere to grab breakfast. Unfortunately for us there was construction on the main drag where we had seen several breakfast joints on the way in, and this was basically the last option before getting onto the highway. The only thing I can really say about this place is that it's a typical diner. The decor is dated, you feel like there's a thin layer of grime on everything, and there is only one toilet per gender (which means that you'll have to wait in line, awkwardly). Came here on a whim, because Hickory Valley Farm had a pipe burst (head there at least once during ur trip for bfast). Well, this place sat us promptly and had a solid selection for breakfast items. I ordered the pancakes and eggs, which was pretty good. Pancakes were pretty good, definitely my favorite part of the meal. The service was very fast, and the coffee was nice and strong which I always appreciate. I would avoid the steak and eggs, my hubby got it and the steak was super bland. Normally even just plain salt and pepper goes a long way with steak, but not even that was on it. Okay so we had breakfast here with my husband's parents. We wanted to go somewhere else but they are diner people so off we went. The beautiful picture is the cup my lukewarm tea water came in..... yum! My food was wrong (sausages on top of my pancakes) vegetarians don't like it when sausage sits on pancakes :) My father in laws eggs were cold both of these issues were resolved by the very sweet waitress. The food was mediocre but the staff made up for it. The dessert list seemed great.... maybe if I am really hungry I will go back and give them a try but I sure as heck won't be ordering any hot drinks after seeing that cup!! Maybe I will try lunch since breakfast was a bust! There was a woman who was busing tables. We stayed a few nights at Great Wolf Lodge, as we were leaving we were hoping to find a diner to have some breakfast at. We found Scotrun diner and we hit the mini jackpot. Super clean, very friendly staff, and good food. Bathrooms were spotless, and I can't say enough about the staff. Our kids actually ate breakfast, that in itself is amazing. The food is also very reasonably priced. Definitely will make this a regular stop on our Great Wolf trips. read more

Well established diner I've eaten at many times over many decades. On our most recent visit I had a hot open faced roast beef sandwich with fries and a cup of beef barley soup as a starter. All food served quickly served hot and fresh. Waitress was very friendly, well organized and efficient. We preferred to dine outdoors and they had a great set up of socially distanced tables covered with a large tent. I look forward to returning soon. read more

Just what we were looking for. Friendly, seated right away, full breakfast selection with no arbitrary rules, and the food was good, solid diner food. Our waitress was great. The bacon was crispy, the home fries were perfectly browned, crispy and delicious. I had an omelet and my wife had French toast. The omelet was cooked and seasoned just right. It's a hit or miss world. My family stops in every fall on my sister's birthday trip, and it's at the top of our list if we find ourselves in the area any other time of year. Nothing fancy or over-the-top, just friendly, people and tasty food -- exactly what we're looking for. Our server, Jennifer, was incredible. She is kind, funny, and great to chat with, as well as accommodating of our large party and order modifications. This place is a diamond in the rough. We have been on a 3 month work assignment and was finding it very difficult to find a place to eat other than pizza or deli in the Poconos. The Scotrun Diner is the place that makes you feel like home. Friendly atmosphere, quick service, home cooked meals, very reasonable cost, huge helpings, homemade desserts and lots of selections. After 2 disappointing attempts at having a good dinner in Tannersville, brunch at the diner was the best meal, and also the cheapest, who would've thought? Now, it's truly unfortunate that the town this diner is named after is so close to another word that isn't safe for this review, but it certainly made me laugh. The service was good, the food was what you expect out of a diner, not bad, not great, but certainly worthy of its price. I had the salsa omelette and while it came off as just an omelette with a can of salsa from the fridge dumped on it, it hit the spot. The cheese in the omelette also was a nice touch. The potatoes were cooked well, and a good helping on the side. Everyone else was decently satisfied with their food, ranging from pancakes to eggs to mozzarella sticks. Honestly, it's a diner in rural Pennsylvania. You'll get alright food for alright prices, and if that's what you want, that is what you'll find. Also, it has that classic diner look and decor, much appreciated. Overall, Scotrun (hehe) Diner was better than two, much more expensive/high end restaurants that I went to, and that should tell you something about the food choices in the area. The worst experience ever. Starting with Handicap parking out by the garbage. A ramp door you have to ring a bell to be let in. Waited more than five minutes. Inside is dirty and in deplorable condition. The Waitress was rude and inattentive. We started with coffee, which ended our visit. Sour tasting with a peculiar odor. Coffee cups where not properly washed. Lipstick on the outside and inside of the cup. Prices are expensive for very small portions. As we noticed what was being brought to the brave patrons. This simple dinner has the best food and is a great bargain in the land of Great Wolf Lodge. Instead of eating the very expensive buffet at Great Wolf Lodge we ventured out and found this diner. It was clean, warm and friendly. The food was just what we hoped for, great. They had many options for breakfast and were very accommodating to picky kids and toddlers. This is a great place for a family, Sunday Brunch or a quick bit for everyone. The staff was extremely receptive and accommodating and service was prompt and served with a big SMILE. Only giving one star as 1/4 star is not available. Who puts raw onion in a grilled chicken wrap? The "grilled" chicken was boiled and slightly older than me. My mother-in-law almost broke her jaw trying to eat the pork chops. The dinner rolls were heavy like rocks , although a rock may be easier to chew. I will take the mashed potatoes in a to-go box: I need some mortar to repair my front steps. If you order the Greek salad, you will get a plate of feta plus a leaf of lettuce. $40 for three people plus the cost of dental surgery. As for the decor--think 1970's including the dark wood paneling. I would have included pictures but you know how you can't see a picture of vampires/the undead?
