My husband and I were so excited to try this new place. We aren't currently eating in due to the pandemic, so we decided to call ahead for take out. We placed our order (a garden skillet and lemon blueberry French toast), and asked if we could do curbside. The person on the phone confirmed curbside (just call when we arrive) and made it seem like this was normal practice. When we arrived and called, the person on the phone said they do not offer curb side so we needed to go in to pick up and pay. I donned my mask and ran in to pick up. The man at the counter was wearing his mask with his nose out and the place was packed. They clearly are not practicing distancing and if the first employee you see when you walk in isn't wearing his mask right, you can almost guarantee the people behind the scenes aren't either. Covid precautions aside, the food was decent. We asked for over easy eggs on the skillet and they were definitely closer to over hard, which is disappointing but not entirely uncommon unfortunately. The French toast, however, was cooked perfectly and the sauces on the lemon blueberry toast were so decadent you didn't need syrup. Overall, we will definitely not be returning until the pandemic is over, but we may give it another chance after. For those in search of a breakfast place adhering strictly to Covid precautions, this place is not the one. read more

Came here this morning to try out the new breakfast spot in our neighborhood with a few friends. They just went back down to 50%capacity and they had to have an open table between each seated table so we had to wait about 5 mins or so for a table to open up. The guy at the front was super friendly and as soon as the table opened, it was cleared, cleaned and we were seated right away. Our server immediately came to our table with a hot carafe of coffee and immediately got us started with that. We ordered some fried okra to try out while we were deciding on the menu. I decided on the chicken carnitas scrambler, my one friend decided on the chorizo omelet, and the other friend decided on the avocado Benedict. My meal came with a biscuit, toast or a pancake. I got the biscuit and ordered a side of gravy (which is my favorite). Everything was good and I would probably just order the biscuit and gravy next time as it was really tasty. I wouldn't order the chicken carnitas skillet again and my friend that ordered the omelette said she wouldn't order again, as it was browned on the top like they cooked too long or at too high of a heat. We really like to have a mimosa or a fun drink, so I'm not really sure if I would go back with friends. There is a reviewer on here that only left 2 stars and complained about the guy at the fronts mask and not bringing her order out to the car. You guys, I can't even. She was so ugly to the guy at the front, whose mask had slid down on his face. We were there for over an hour and his mask had been up the whole time. Also, the place was not packed, as they were practicing 50% capacity and there was an empty table between each guest. Me and the 2 other ladies I was there with were shocked at how she spoke to the man and then jumped in her car with a guy and dog in the back. Hopefully, more grace is given to other businesses trying to compete and survive in this hard time and karma doesn't come back to bite her at all. We felt extra bad that he has to endure customers like that and some of the other patrons in there agreed. Our server had her mask on the whole time and the place was not packed at all, again we waited 5 minutes and were in there quite a while. This place is a WONDERFUL addition to the neighborhood! I come every Sunday after church and find the place incredibly welcoming and warm with great employees and servers. The food is simple and delicious and exactly what the neighborhood needed. I urge you to go there and support them; they just opened as the pandemic began and there are miserable customers who report them for violations even though they are doing all they can do adhere to distancing policies (while not going out of business). Loved the interior. Service was great and friendly. Chicken carnitas skillet was very good as was the crepe. Pancake was a bit dry and orange juice was too small. Also, man working the register had his mask below his nose. Oh dear I was so disappointed in this place!!! Let me just say this if you don't have the patience to be kind to your customer than dont be a server! All I did was ask the server to bring my check so I could go ahead and pay ( needed to get to a soccer game) and he got all frustrated and almost cancelled our food order until my daughter figured out what was happening! I kindly went to him after he went to the counter where they cook the food and told all the severs .. all of them were giving me the evil eye!! First time at this nice cafe. Had Eggs Benedict. Eggs were truly poached and the english muffins was great tasting sour dough. But disappointed in the Hollandaise. Tasted bland. Lacked the Tarragon flavor I was expecting. Looked like it was made from a powdered mix - have had better from I-HOP. Had the hashbrowns and those were yummy. And a side of crispy bacon which was also yummy. Ill come back and will try the biscuits and gravy if I can cofirm gravy is made from scratch and not from a can or from powdered mix. We picked up food here to go for breakfast. Tried to call in the order ahead, but no one answered the phone. So we just ordered once we got there. When checking out, the person who packaged the food assured us that everything was there (syrup, sauces, etc.). Once we got home and opened the containers, there were several things missing. I tried to call in to check, but again, no one answered the phone. By the time I got back there, the food they gave us was cold. Ended up being a missing bag with the other items they hadn't given us. They apologized, but at this point I was already running behind for work and just asked for a refund. The process of getting a refund took another 5-10 minutes. All in all, not the best experience. The part of the food we got looked good, as did the food others were eating. But who knows, since I didn't actually get to eat breakfast that day. If you really want to eat here, I would avoid getting it to go. read more
