    Philly Cheese Steak and Tots
    Laura C.

Sometimes you get smiled on. My husband bought a Groupon and neglected to notice that the emphasis was on the place being a bar not a restaurant and we no longer drink. So with some trepidation, we traveled up to Legacy and the Tollway and found a pleasant surprise in Scruffy Duffies. With an actual somewhat scruffy brick, board, wrought iron and sports bar/pub atmosphere, the main room is loud and cavernous with multiple jumbo screens and a long bar across one end. There's a small pool room separate from the main room and then, through another door, is the patio. Now the patio is unusual in that it's not actually outdoors; the parking garage is above it. However, wrought iron doors open onto the sidewalk, NOLA style, and there are misters and fans and built in heaters and a fireplace for the colder months. It's a terrific design and no one but us was interested in being out there. It was perfect; but it was a Tuesday, so I wouldn't expect that on a weekend, anytime. The food was also surprisingly good. We split two sandwiches: a club sandwich that was the perfect bite with thick bacon and a pesto aioli and a savory Philly Cheese Steak on a wonderfully fresh and soft hoagie roll. They came with your choice of fries or tots. We tried both and they were terrific - soft inside and crunchy outside. Both sandwiches were also modestly priced. My spouse wanted to try the crispy chicken wings and of the 4 available versions, he opted for Cajun. The 10 wings for $13.00 came with giant carrot and celery sticks with ranch dressing. The wings were perfectly cooked and crispy; but the seasoning, although flavorful, didn't strike me as Cajun and was simply too salty. It lacked any heat or paprika. They were good with the ranch dressing, though. A special mention about our server, Rian. She made an effort to meet us at the door, seat us out on the patio and then had to continue to attend to only us out there while keeping tabs on everyone else inside. She was exceptionally busy; but always kept an eye on us. I never saw anyone else. She had a lovely personality, as well. We liked Scruffy Duffies. Parking was easy - across the street or in the garage. It's a comfy place to eat, drink and watch sports. I noticed they have a live DJ on Friday and Saturdays and all kind of specials through the week. We had a good time and would return.

Almost are all of them before I remembered to take a pic!

Popped in here for a quick bite and had a very tasty quesadilla and fries. The quesadilla was full of flavorful and tender chicken. The fries were skinny, hot and seasoned. Service was excellent.

We had our alumni happy hour. I had worked with Chelsea to arrange the event and she was a pleasure to work with. We had the entire patio portion to ourselves (~30 folks), various beer on tap and good quality food (see pics). Parking is super easy with this place and its easily accessible to DNT. Chelsea and other waitresses looked after us really well. If there is another chance to host happy hour, I will definitely consider this place!

Great spot located in shops of legacy! It's off to the side a little bit so you are not in the middle of all the madness going on at the shops. Plenty of open seating, a big screen as well as other TVs at the bar. There is another part to the bar almost separate where you can have large parties for special events or just any regular time. Daily specials and happy hour deals! Hunter was our bartender and did a wonderful job! He was very helpful on what to choose off the menu since we had never been there before. Tried the pizza fries and the Philly cheesesteak eggrolls. Both were delicious. It was very cold out so it was awesome to see they had a fireplace inside by the pool table. Afterwards you can go check out the beautifully lit Christmas tree around the water.

This is a very good bar to hang out, specially if you live in the legacy area. No cover, drinks prices are reasonable, food is good, I have never had a problem with my check, and bartenders have always been great. Now the action at this place starts around 10pm, if you come early, it may look like another irish pub, with some patrons here and there, and average noise. The indoors area is more noisy, crowded, Live DJ, the patio is more relaxed, less crowded, you still get to enjoy the DJ selection, and also there is a bar inside and outside. Inside bar is more commercial beers with a huge selection, outside bar is more IPAs and craft beer.

Didn't eat here but went out for the night and got some drinks! Would say they are reasonably priced. Fun place with a DJ at night. Also has some games like pool. Plenty of TVs for watching sports

Brook & Elyssa we're spectacular tonight. It was slow when we walked in and they were instantly bomb rushed by large party... the impeccable customer service that was applied was unparalleled to the surrounding bars. Peak times two women multitasking at its finest.. BRAVO ZULU

My friend recommended this on his list of Irish Pubs around here, so I decided to give it a try. For a strip mall Irish Pub, it does take you into another world. Cool entrance that opens up to a horseshoe bar with tons of tables and booths. It was Trivia night, so they only had the Stanley Cup playoff on one TV. Sat down at the bar and ordered my Guinness and reviewed the menu. There were a couple of selections I was interested in (always gravitate to Bangers n' Mash), but went with the fish & chips with French Onion soup. Get these together, because the fish is delicious in the beef broth of the French Onion! It was good, though fish could've used a little more batter with the thick walleye filets. I loved it all and enjoyed the conversation with the bartender with the I Love Indie Horror hat. Some good ones out there that aren't being made like they use to!!

After we paid our bill with a credit card, I noticed that we were charged a 3% credit card fee. That was a first, and likely began in April since our last visit was on 3/24/26 and no credit card fee was assessed. Nowhere on the menu was it mentioned there would be a credit card fee, nor was it articulated by a bartender. That sort of fee makes me wonder what's going on in this establishment. Not sure we'll be back.

Sadly, if I wanted really good Irish food, or even just mediocre Irish food, I should have went somewhere else. Let's start with the Reuben egg rolls. There were 3 of them for $11. Sadly this was the start of the crappy experience. These were three of the smallest, greasiest, unfilled "spring" rolls I've ever had. They need to learn the difference between an egg roll and a spring roll. As far as the filling? No Swiss cheese was to be found, there were three strings of sauerkraut in each one, and the smallest, little sliver of corned beef was in HALF of each spring roll. As an added bonus, they were served on a plate in a puddle of grease. While the puddle of grease was the original turn off, the first bite of these little flavorless, unfilled, pieces of crap, was the icing on the cake. The guiness stew was mediocre at best, and the curry was nothing like good, McDonnell's Irish curry. The Currey was obviously "made" from a packet of Indian food one can pick up at Walmart. Overall I highly recommend going someplace else if you want good, traditional Irish food.

The restaurant itself has a real cool hip vibe, definitely up my alley. I ordered myself the beer cheese-steak (with fries) and a blue sapphire cocktail - these. were. AMAZING! They even have a "micro brewers menu" aka kids menu, my son chose the mini smashburgers with chips. He loved it so much, there was nothing left on his plate at the end. They have a bunch of board games available to use while dining so my son and I grabbed a Jurassic Park matching game, this was a super fun activity to do together while munching away. We had a wonderful time here and will surely be back soon. :)

The decor and theme are inspired by New Orleans/Creole/Cajun vibes, and it's beautifully put together. The layout of the location is a slight "L" shape, so seating can be a bit limited during busy times. It's a seat-yourself setup, and they provide QR codes at the tables for you to place your order and pay when you're ready. Now, onto the food and service. Unfortunately, the wait for both food and drinks were longer than expected, even as the rush began to die down. Our pretzel appetizer didn't arrive until near the end of our meal, and sadly, it was overcooked. Drinks The beer was great and a definite highlight of the experience. Here's what we ordered: Appetizers Giant Pub Pretzel ($13.99): A 12.05 oz pretzel served with signature beer cheese and beer mustard. Unfortunately, this dish was a disappointment. Despite being called "Giant," the pretzel was thin, and was a bit overcooked. While we enjoyed the beer cheese, the beer mustard could have stayed in the kitchen. Loaded Broccoli ($8.99): Steamed broccoli seasoned with Cajun spices, topped with melted cheese and your choice of chicken, beef, or pulled pork. I chose chicken, which was delicious and well-seasoned. However, the cheese was a huge letdown, it had an odd, roux-like texture and flavor that nearly made the dish inedible. Entrée Voo-Dill Pickle Pizza ($12.99): Made with roasted garlic pesto, fresh mozzarella, thick-cut pickles, and a special Voo-Dill seasoning. While the concept was intriguing, the execution fell short. The pizza crust was undercooked, and the pickles seemed like they were added at the very end instead of being baked with the pizza. The garlic pesto was the highlight of this dish. Desserts -King Cake Slice ($3.XX): Clearly store-bought and not made in-house. It also took a while to reach our table, which was odd considering it's pre-packaged. The kitchen area even had the King Cake box visible. Beignets ($7.99): Over-fried and served with icing that was overly lemony, which overpowered the dish. Side Order Jalapeño Slaw ($2.99): The star of the meal! It had the perfect balance of mayo and vinegar, with a fresh kick from the jalapeños and Cajun spices. I wish I had ordered more! I think this place has a lot of potential. The concept is fantastic, but the kitchen needs improvement. I do plan to return and give it another try because the space and the idea are great. Hopefully, next time the food lives up to the vision!

We told our server that between me and my wife, we will be sharing the chicken sandwich and hence requested that it be sliced into 2. Not only were the burgers sliced, it was served in separate plates with sides as well - that was a really nice touch. Cali was a bit bland, Buffalo and Burg B Q were both really nice. The drink was nice as well. There was live music but we were seated near a table that was pretty boisterous, could hardly hear anything.
