Delicious creamy halva, so many different flavors: coffee, pistachio, marble, dark chocolate, cinnamon, ginger, orange... I have had halva before and this stuff is really fantastic. They also have tahini, ice cream, and halva paninis which I'm curious to try next time. I felt really attacked coming here. I am a African American educated woman and I felt as if I was being stared down because of my hair and my looks. Excellent high quality halva. I tried the bites for $6 and was given 3 different flavors. I got coffee , cocoa nibs and a third flavor I can't remember but I really enjoyed munching on all three. They were all served together in a paper fold and that did cause them to mix unfortunately but it was damn good anyway. Tonight as Chelsea Market was closing & my mom and I were passing through, we jumped for joy at the sight of a place hat Seles Halva --- and the kindest man (owner? Manager? Angel?) gave us a FREE piece (pistachio) as a parting gift. Unbeknownst to him, tonight was my mommas birthday and it MADE our day. The prices here are utterly absurd, and the service is slow, with the two employees more busy talking to each other than helping customers. The halva itself wasn't particularly good either, certainly not enough to justify the price hike. As a native from the Middle East, definitely NOT authentic. This is in regards to the Seed and Mill stand the company has in Whole Foods Tribeca. While the halva is delicious, the customer service is pretty bad. Once I asked for a sample (they give samples everytime they are open) and I was told I couldn't have one because the salesperson wasn't cutting pieces from that flavor halva. Another time I asked if I could please get a smaller pre cut slice of halva to purchase, and I was lectured on all the reasons the salesperson wasn't able to, but then his final sentence was "but I can cut you a smaller slice if you want"...at which point I said no thanks. The halva is great, but given the high price and sub par customer service, it's not worth it and very disappointing. read more

I'll start with the good stuff: I love love love the product here. I work insanely close to chelsea market and whenever I need something sweet I always stop here. It's new to chelsea market sort of and I've always tried to make sure I support their business but.... I really can't handle the customer service. I understand they don't want to sell you less than a quarter pound because cutting less is hard and not worth the money... I've worked in food. I undersand. BUT, every time I go and plan on that quarter pound (which is way too much for one person) they somehow give me almost double what I order and then when I kindly ask for a smaller amount every. single. time. I get a really rude and annoyed response. I always tip. I am at that stand almost once a week and no matter what their staff is USUALLY so rude and cold. Don't get me wrong, they did a good job with one or two of their employees... they have a couple of sweet younger kids working there that I love to see but for the most part owner and employee wise I just haven't had the best experience. This hasn't stopped my business here but it definitely bums me out I spend money as a regular at a place that treats me like an annoyance. read more

I was excited to try this place because I've never had halva and I love tahini. Disappointed. I got 3 different varieties which I would usually like in just about any other dessert, and all 3 flavors tasted the same. I kept trying more of each flavor and determined I don't like this halva. I came here on Saturday with one of my friends and we couldn't wait to try the tahini soft-serve. I really wanted to love this place. The soft-serve tasted good, like regular vanilla/chocolate swirl with a faint taste of tahini. I was expecting a stronger tahini flavor. It would've tasted better with tahini drizzled on top! We also tried the tahini, which we each bought a jar of to take home. While it's better than brands like Once Again, I still prefer Tohum, which has a richer, smoother consistency. Seed + Mill's tahini was a little too gritty for me. The stand was pretty busy, so I can't comment on the halvah, which i didn't get a chance to try. I still love the idea that the stand is dedicated to sesame seeds and the staff is really nice. read more

This place is awesome! Got the sampler halva - 3 different flavors ($6 I think). The flavors I got - original, rose and chocolate. I didn't like the chocolate flavor (the consistency wasn't the same as the original flavor). But overall is this a great little place that gets super busy. I love this place. I am not near Chelsea Market that often but I always go in and get some of their halvah when I am. Choosing a flavor is always the hardest part as they all look so amazing and they are always super fresh. I got a piece for a coworker and he was so happy. I saw a long line and people eating ice cream from here so I had to try it. Well, the goat milk ice cream with tahini sauce and halva as toppings was really good. I really enjoyed the smooth ice cream and the toppings go well together. While I didn't realize when eating, the aftertaste of goat milk hit me later. I'm writing this review based on the concept of the place and what I've heard about it, but unfortunately, unless one significant change is made, I won't be able to fully comment on the store. They have a second rate kosher supervision, that of the UKS, which the mainstream Orthodox rabbinate in Manhattan doesn't accept. I wish them success, and everything looks really good and fresh, but they should procure a hashgacha acceptable to the broader Orthodox community. read more

This is very good stuff. We bought the rose flavored and the cardamom halva based on the tastings they liberally provided. Absolutely delicious. Halva in general is a tad heavy sort of dessert so you don't need to eat too much at one go. It lasted in our fridge for several weeks without any problem. Keep up the good work!! read more

One word: woah. Hailing from the South, I've seen halvah in the international section of grocery stores but have never had any true desire to try it. After stumbling upon this place in Chelsea Market and seeing their visually appealing display of the halvah, I knew I had to give it a try. I tried a few flavors and eventually settled on the sea salt dark chocolate, although I honestly wish I could've taken a slice of every variety. It was sweet but not too sweet and reminded me slightly of the center of a Butterfinger, and was a nice accompaniment to my dinner from Very Fresh Noodles. read more

Giving 2 stars because we didnt like the dark chocolate halva (it said 70% dark chocolate) but the halva was sesame flavor with crushed dark chocolate toppings. Well anyways cant complaint since they were kind enough to give everyone a taste of whatever they wanted to try. Between coconut halva and dark chocolate - the chocolate flavor was picked by me. I just ordered one slice which came for $6. Too expensive. I wasnt able to finish the entire thing firstly because I didnt like it, secondly because it was too much sesame consumption for me for one serving. read more

This is an addiction. I pass this place at least twice each day -- I work in the building. It's hard to walk by without stopping. The halvah is wonderful; it reminds me of the halvah my father used to bring home when I was a child. The staff is friendly and knowledgable. And that goat's milk ice cream!
