This place was a great find! My wife & I have been in search of a good Korean BBQ place since moving from Chicago. This is our new spot. It was $28 per adult for all you can eat. We had marinated prime rib, thin sliced beef brisket, & the pork belly. All were good, though the pork belly was probably our least favorite. The condiments were also really good. SO MUCH MEAT. I've been itching to try Korean BBQ for a while now, and I was finally able to drag husband to try Seocho Garden. Located in a strip mall which, according to Google Maps, was impossible to find, Seocho Garden has two areas available: regular dining tables and the BBQ tables (which have a mini gas grill in the middle). We sat at the BBQ tables and ordered the AYCE. They brought out two plates of meat and side dishes... and more side dishes. The table was covered in side dishes. My favorite were the daikon strands, this pasty sweet stuff, and the kimchi. Husband liked the raw garlic and bean sprouts. There was so much meat that we started to get the meat sweats halfway through the meal. I recommend the bulgogi! It was so good that I plan on making it at home eventually. Once I find out how to slice the meat that thin. I usually just end up hacking mine to double death. Two stars off because it was pricey for what you actually got - $30 a person. And they do add 18% gratuity to the bill so be on the look out for that - we double tipped accidentally. read more

I think between a 3 and a 4 star rating is accurate for this place. It's got a a pretty extensive Korean menu with a lot of traditional dishes. Some of the dishes aren't too badly priced for a full service sit down restaurant. The entrees also come out with a lot of side dishes, so we were pleasantly surprised. My friend got the bibimbop and I had their sulungtang. Both were good. This place also features a sushi bar (closed on Sundays), and their ambiance is pretty decent. This is probably one of the few decent Korean restaurants in this area. I don't come down this way often, but if people are looking for a decent Korean restaurant, I'd probably point them here. :) read more

I live right in 4 Lakes, and we've frequented this "restaurant" enough to realize that this place is lucky to have been open for so long. The service was spotty at best. Like with the other bad reviews, we also noticed that if you're not Korean, the servers will barely notice you or treat you with some form of decency. The third time we ate there, the server cut up the kalbi but JUST PUT THE BLOODY BONE ON OUR TABLE AND LEFT IT THERE. Now the server just wiped the table down with a wet rag when we left. GROSS. Getting a 2nd glass of water was out of the question too. Everytime we've been there (about 4 times), it was almost empty except for a Korean family or a couple of Korean businessmen and for good reason. Mediocre food and non-existent service is unacceptable. The owners must get their act together as this joint has had a face lift a few times in the past 5 years that I've lived here. I have been craving Korean food for a while now and decided to give this place a try. When I walked in the greeter told me to sit anywhere, but when I sat at the BBQ area she told me to sit in the restaurant area, even though there were people sitting in the same area as me. I tried to order the all you can eat so I could try multiple dishes but I was told that was for two minimum. All this was done with less then welcoming grace. Not sure if that was a language thing or an attitude thing. I ended up ordering a beef dish which was OK but no explanation was given me as to the relishes ( all mediocre) and no offer of menu explanation. The whole experience left me feeling rather unwelcome and while the food and service certainly wasn't bad, it wasn't good either and I will probably never go back. Also it really was a bit pricey for what you get. I am no expert on Korean food, but I enjoy what I have tried. My previous experiences where much more friendly and enjoyable than this one. This is a pretty decent Korean BBQ spot in the western burbs. It's one of the only ones that I know of in the area. They recently raised their prices. Their meat is usually pretty good. Service is fine as long as you communicate with them. I have gone for lunch and dinner and never left unsatisfied. I've never not had bbq so can't comment on that. read more

Dumplings were bad... most definitely from some frozen section at a grocery store and overcooked. Kimchi wasn't that good. Dolsot bibimbop was kind of flavorless... the sauce helped a little, but even drenched in the sauce it wasn't quite right. The two stars are for the bulgolgi, which was pretty good. Food is good. Service is mediocre. Came in for Mother's Day, and it was an awful idea. Waited a solid 20 minutes before being acknowledged. Waited another 10 minutes at a table before we got a server. Got up, requested a table that was VISIBLE to the servers, had to wait another ten minutes. Should've left right then, that's my problem. Was given a special "Mother's Day" menu where the prices went up a couple of dollars. Not sure if it's even legal to capitalize a special occasion as such, but whatever. My main entree came out burnt. I understand that restaurants are CRAZY on Mother's Day, so I don't mind slower service, but I do mind compromise when it comes to the integrity of the food. Had to flag down our server for additionals, like serving spoons, plates, the sauces that are meant to accompany the entree. It's like they had forgotten how to do their jobs. It was 8:30 by now, the crowd had died, but the service was still lacking. I'm sad there aren't more Korean restaurant options in the area, but this place will do. The table next to us who was KOREAN received awesome customer service and free pancake, but i am not korean, so we don't get that on our table. I would never go back to this restaurant ever again and i have told all of my fds and relative about my horrible experience. Seriously, i have the $ to pay so i don't understand why the service was that bad. This place has decent Korean foods. In general, Korean foods, in my opinion is a bit pricy. Kind of what you would spend when you go out for sushi. However, the difference between going out to Sushi and going here is that, Sushi places often has MUCH better customer service. I did like the food. I had some kind of Beef noodle soup dish. It was super flavorful. I went with a group of 8 or so people. We had plenty of side dishes and it was nice. But realistically, ALL I could really remember about this place was that the SERVICE was not oh-so-friendly. The lady who took our order had a tone of voice that just seems like she wasn't up to serving. Her English was not so good but I'm not picky on that, I've pretty sympathetic to non-native speakers. I've met many that has accents but were very nice, patient and polite. Anyways, our lady here didn't really refill our water much, she gave us dirty look when we asked to have the checks split (before hand) and when she came out to cook the beef on the stove for us, she just seem to did it carelessly. And for a $20/ beef plate, you would think the beef shouldn't be just flung around onto the pan and falling onto the table to be touched and put back on the grill for you. So in all, food was good. Price was high. Professionalism (despite the nice decor), not up to my standards. I don't really have a reason to visit again, at least not anytime soon. So come here for the food, but come with good company because you won't be feeling like you're at your grandmother's anytime. read more

Truly one of the best Korean restaurants in the Chicagoland area. I grew up in Chicago and have probably gone to most of the Korean restaurants in Chicago and its outlying suburbs while growing up. But when I come home to visit, I always make sure to go back to this restaurant at least once for a meal. I've never been disappointed. Unfortunately it appears that only the bad experiences are the ones that take the time to write and complain. It's too bad, because the dolsot bibimbap is as good as the rest of their banchan. I personally like their spicy raw crab the best. SOO yummy. Make my mouth salivate even now thinking about it. I've driven by this restaurant upwards of 1000 times. And I've had a strong desire to check it out. But like a new, Fall TV show that looks interesting, and you have every intention of viewing before it is precipitously cancelled, the opportune occasion never presented itself. That changed last night, when our Korean friend and her guy invited us out. Although this restaurant is, in my opinion, extremely authentic, there isn't the language barrier that you might anticipate. I do maintain, however, that having a Korean national in your party can do nothing but help, especially as it relates to identifying the many side dishes that are presented with the main dishes, and making spot on recommendations. My point? It was a very pleasant, easy experience. The food was largely 4-5 stars, except for my Chicken Bulgogi, which I found to be overcooked and rather flavorless. The Bibimbap was outstanding, as was the shrimp terayki. And I love all of the traditional side dishes: the pickled daikon radish and cucumber, the fish cake and pancakes, and the myriad other mini dishes that I could never hope to identify, and/or remember their names make for interesting dining. You can even get a giant Korean beer (I went with the Kass) for about the cost of a can of Bud Light. We shall definitely return! read more

Located in a strip mall that has been many other Korean restaurants in the past, it is now primarily a Korean BBQ restaurant with all you can eat meat as well as a sushi bar. There are typical 4 person tables in the main seating area with private and large rooms on the side. The selection and quality of the meats are pretty decent. They have marinated meats as well as just lightly seasoned ones. The samgyupsal comes in large pieces so you cut them yourself. The banchan also has a good variety that complement the meats and some that go well on the grill. The price is pretty reasonable for the amount you get. My major issue with this place is the service. They are usually understaffed so it's hard to find any waiter/waitress let alone the one for your table. Since the server provides the meat, you're often waiting around for your meat. It seems like it's to save money since they can pay less employees and you'll get fuller faster. It's not a pleasant experience enjoying the meal when it's so disjointed by what you're trying to eat. As we were in a big group, we ordered larger quantities and different types of meats so that we had fewer breaks but later on, the main waitress seemed very bothered that we were still ordering and eating. We called it a night after that and topped off with a McDonald's coke. I'm not the type of person that would patronize an establishment just because they had great service, but I would definitely not go somewhere if they had bad service. Seocho Garden is one of the few Korean restaurants in the Naperville/Lisle area & one that's worth trying out. The food is fresh, delicious & they offer a good variety of dishes worth ordering. My parents & I have been here a few times & have had great meals at different times of the day. My usual go-to dish is dol-sot bibimbap & my parents like to order a wide variety of soups, rice dishes, etc. There's plenty of ban-chan (side dishes) that come out before the main dishes arrive which is always a plus especially during busy hours. I have yet to try the Korean BBQ, but whenever we go, there's a crowd of people enjoying KBBQ even during the late hours. I'm glad SeoCho is one of the few Korean restaurants in my area - thank God their food is delish! read more

And I've had one waitress there who just doesn't seem to have patience. I wish I could love this place. Even if I wanted to excuse the poor quality of meat I could never look past the atrocious service my boyfriend and I received on out visit. We had AYCE bbq. Even at $30 per person we were willing to give it a try. Dinner options in San Diego usually start at $23-$25 so it wasn't what bad until we saw the automatic (regardless of party size) 18% gratuity added. For a dinner for two we paid over $70 with just the bbq. The meat quality was very low. The bulgogi was grainy and no amount of marinade could get me over the texture. Samgyapsal (pork belly) was frozen, brisket was frozen and the marinaded pork was not flavorful. Side dishes were decent but sauce options were scant. The low rating is a result of the service or lack thereof. We were the only ones in the bbq area but as soon as a large party arrived we were the forgotten table in the corner. And don't press the table call button because it either doesn't work or they don't care. Literally asked for water and the server refilled the other tables classes twice before she came back. Servers were replenishing items for the other group before they had even ran out or had been requested. When I got a server and was letting her know what meat we would like to order she simply walked away before I finished! The older Korean gentleman (perhaps owner/manager) walked around tending to the other tables asking about the meal but completely skipped us.....we were one of three tables. I thought maybe I was overacting but as soon as we left my boyfriend had the same thoughts. He is also right in saying its better we didn't like this place since it is so close and KBBQ is our favorite thing to eat out. I had traveled about six hours to Chicago to catch up with some friends. I originally planned to eat at Woori Village the night before but arrived in Chicago about 10:30pm. Since they close at 11:00pm that night, I was unable to enjoy grilled meat to my heart's content. Having been to many All You Can Eat (AYCE) Korean BBQ restaurants in Chicago and all over the country, I am going to cut through the "service" experience. The cultural differences of Korean BBQ restaurants and other BBQ restaurants are worlds apart. I loved this place because the place was crowded on a Monday night and the owners still managed to be excellent hosts. They worked hard and I am grateful. On to the food. The banchan was excellent. My table went through 3 rounds (hence the service section above). The meat...oh man...the meat. It was excellent. Most AYCE places will throw lower quality meat your way since you're going to be eating lots of it anyway, but NOT THIS PLACE! It was fantastic! We also went through about 9 plates of meat for 3 people. Rice? Who needs rice to take up stomach space? I was too full to enjoy the Naengmyun (cold noodles) at the end. It was great and I hope you enjoy. Tips: Know your way around the grill. You ruin the quality of the food here by not knowing how to manage your own grill. Just OK, and honestly better than nothing. The pickins are slim when it comes to AYCE KBBQ in the Chicagoland area. I'm not sure why, as there are a ton of Asians in the area. Nonetheless, this place is basically all we got. Service is so-so, which is expected in Asian establishments. Refills on banchan are slow, but their offering is decent and hits the spot. Meat quality can be hit or miss, and they don't have any of the typical seafood items like octopus but I'm kind of OK with that.
