Wanted to try something new for lunch that was healthy as well. So I searched on grub hub and found this place. The pics looked good and so did the reviews. I got the rice bowl with all the toppings and added avocado and two sauce choices. Let me tell you, this bowl was bomb! The tofu was cooked perfectly and all of the ingredients just worked! They also have a good portion. If this was eaten fresh it could probably receive 5 stars. But I will def keep ordering from them again. It's worth it! read more

I went to Seoul Spice for the first time and now I am adding it to my short list of places to go for a delicious lunch bowl in/around Penn Quarters! I tried the Seoul Train bowl. The beef was succulent, all of the ingredients were fresh and it all came together in really yummy bites. My hunger was satisfied while not feeling sluggish afterwards. Win-win. One of the most affordable spots for gluten free Korean noms that you can customize as you prefer. My biggest complaint is it always ends up soaking through their compostable bowls (since I like the kimchee and other more soggy salad items). One of my favorites Korean restaurants in the NoMa area. I usually go here when I am in a hurry or decide against going to sit down restaurant. This place is more like chipotle. My favorite is spicy pork with white rice and I order all their veggies as my topping. Also try their spicy sauce. It's not that hot but adds a nice flavor to you meal. Usually the pork is a little dry so I tend to ask for more sauce and mix my bowl of rice, veggies and pork well before I begin to eat. Add an egg for an extra cost if you like a soft boiled egg. Overall I like this restaurant for quality of food and very nominal pricing. The service is great and restaurant is very clean. Not that crowded so I have never spent more than 5 minutes in the line to order my food. read more

*Ordered in July* Conveniently a 5 min walk from our hotel, and very cute interior. It's chipotle/subway style where u pick one of the options and they create it while you pick your fillings etc. Seemed to be a popular lunchtime spot for a lot of working people nearby. Anyways I ordered after arriving right after our flight and a really long day so was very happy that it was a large serving and not badly priced esp for dc (I think but I'm based in Texas). I ordered a Korrito (korean style burrito) which is essentially gimbap but a huge uncut up burrito version where the seaweed is used as the "tortilla" wrapping. As a vegetarian there were a decent amount of veggie filling options and tofu for protein, I also tried purple rice for the first time and it was great! Really liked the sauces as well. Only qualm was that it falls apart really easily because the seaweed isn't the strongest wrapping but that's expected and it gets weaker as the sauces etc soften it up. It's good but it's just needs something, maybe if I didn't get kale. But this is good healthy food. If you get the right things it definitely good just like chipotle but Korean version. I was so excited to find Seoul Spice on my way home through NOMA. I kept seeing it pop up on food delivery services and wondered where it was if it was close enough to come to my house. Making a lucky turn off of New York Avenue knowing that Five Guys was close by we continued to drive past Noma metro and saw the glowing sign of wonder. I got the roll and my friend got the bowl. We both thoroughly enjoyed our food. My favorite sauce was the green one, then the sriracha. Our only complaint was that we weren't full. I don't have pictures because the food was SO GOOD I couldn't wait long enough to capture it. I also tried the purple rice which tastes identical to white rice but has more nutrients! The sriracha mayo spice level was a 5/10- pretty mild but delicious. My only critiques were that the eggs were cold (intentionally) it wasn't bad but I think I would've liked them better hot, and indoor table seating was limited. Tasted good. Lots of space to sit down. Nice & new place. Cons : loud music close to 9pm. One of the worker's daughter running around, screaming. With the loud music it was not pleasant. Look I get it. The struggle is real. There was another adult with the child. But everyone who works who has children face this issue. My first time here, so this could be a one time situation. Enter SeoulSpice. --Food: Alright, so to be clear, SeoulSpice has a lot more than just chicken, rice, and vegetables. They have a whole range of build your own bibimbap with the normal proteins like Beef, Spicy Pork, Chicken, and Tofu as well as a large spread of veggies and toppings. I went with purple rice, bean sprouts, cucumbers, dak kalbi chicken, sesame oil, sesame seeds, garlic, gochujang, creamy sriracha, and an egg. My fiancee had purple rice, bean sprouts, corn, carrots, chicken, and a bit of gochujang sauce. They don't offer Dol Sot (hot stone pot) versions, but this was still incredibly delicious. Everything tasted very fresh and was light enough yet filling and satisfying. There are so many combinations that sound delicious on the menu, I will definitely be back to check out more next time I'm in DC. There are also various other non bowl items, like sushi wraps, tacos, and salads with whichever toppings you like. Also, for fellow Celiacs, their menu is 100% Gluten Free. --Cost: I believe the bowls were roughly $9. I'm not too familiar with DC to know how this compares to things in the area, but it seemed very affordable to me. --Atmosphere: We got there shortly after they opened, but the place was super clean, modern, and comfortable. There was some hip / dance music playing, which I liked, but might not be for everyone. --Service: Staff seemed pretty nice and the food is combined in front of you, so it's basically immediate service. --Overall: Huge fan. I love bibimbap as a whole, either made at home in a stone bowl on a stove or at a restaurant. A recent diagnosis of Celiac has me careful around meat marinades as well, and for SeoulSpice to be 100% GF is a blessing. I hope they expand, specifically to Richmond, VA where I live. If you're in the mood for a quick, semi-healthy meal with Korean flavors, you really can't go wrong here. Super bonus points for being able to get all of the veggies in your bowl for free. Truly a vegetarian's delight, the Herbivore is loaded up with veggies - Kalbi-tofu, bean sprouts, corn, carrots, cucumbers, pickled radish, kale slaw, kimichi, crispy garlic, scallions, roasted sesame seeds, and swapped out the ginger carrot sauce for the cilantro lime ranch and added the avocado. Quality of food is just okay, nothing really special. Quantity of the meat should be given a little more and not packed with the rice.
