Great Korean bowls created to your selection of Rice Bowl or Salad Bowl, selection of protein (Beef, chicken, spiced pork or tofu), veggies, sauces and then extra toppings like garlic, sesame seeds, and egg. I have to admit this was a great place for Korean food (fixings also included Kimchi). Absolutely delicious. I would come again. The only bad part of the place is parking. If there was a Korean version of Chipotle then SeoulSpice is the perfect example. It's a simple assembly line you go through for your customizable order. Just like Chipotle you start off with your carb selection, meat and then toppings/sauces. If you're indecisive like me then you can choose from a menu of preselected entrees. I personally went with the Klassic and the Fireball. I got them both made as Korritos (Korean Burrito). I'm not sure how busy they get during the day time but business was pretty slow when I was there that evening. I believe it was around 6:30-7:00PM and there were only 2-3 people in line. That benefitted me because I didn't have to wait in line for a long time. My orders were quickly made and I was out of there in 5 minutes or so. The staff that prep my order was very friendly too which is a big plus. I was surprised that the food was really flavorful and fresh considering that it was somewhat of a fast food restaurant. The meats are seasoned really well and the spicy sauce was delicious. It was spicy but not uncomfortably spicy. I'll definitely try SeoulSpice again if I'm in the area. The establishment looks modern and new. Everything is still pretty clean and organized inside the restaurant. Fast, clean, hip, urban take out Korean fusion place! We're staying at the Courtyard Marriott and this was a short walk away for a quick dinner :) Upon walking in, we were greeted by the cashier who was super friendly and told us that we could try any of the protein before we bought it! Nice thing about this place is that you can have as many veggies as you want - for free! Avocado and other veggies cost extra as marked. You can also mix the sauces if you'd like. I got the spicy pork bowl with purple rice, cucumbers, scallions, garlic, carrots, kale salad, and Korean hot sauce mixed with cilantro lime ranch. The Korean hot sauce is incredibly spicy... and I'm from South East Asia where we eat pretty spicy food so I would recommend mixing it with another sauce or going with a less spicy one in the first place. I love Korean food, but I cannot say that I loved SeoulSpice. My friend and I decided to go with the signature combinations during our visit for dinner on a weekday night. I ordered the Kimchi Krunch with purple rice (Kalbi-chicken, bean sprouts, carrots, pickled radish, kale slaw, kimchi, ginger-carrot sauce, crispy garlic, cilantro, scallions, roasted sesame seeds) with an avocado. My friend on the other hand ordered the fireball (spicy pork, corn, pickled radish, kale slaw, kimchi, korean hot sauce, creamy sriracha, crispy garlic, scallions, roasted sesame seeds) with an egg. Their bowls are about $8-9. Although I liked the concept, neither of the bowls impressed me. The flavors were bland, and I have honestly had better Korean food at home even though I'm not Korean... The presentation is good which makes it look like it would also taste good, but looks are deceiving. Additionally, I tried both of their house made juices (kale apple + yuzu honey lime tea) and was not impressed by those either, as both were also lacking in flavor. The kale apple tasted as though the kale and apples had just been sitting in the water and then the water was extracted rather than pressed for flavors (think throwing lemons in water instead of squeezing the lemons). Highly convenient to the NoMa metro. What more could be desired? Gluten free!? Vegan friendly?! Yes! It's all gluten free! All the veggies are vegan. Tofu for protein- local and non-GMO. Purple rice. White sushi rice. Kimchi and kale slaw are both vegan. Add whatever you like, except avocado is extra. Two vegan sauces- spicy or carrot ginger. Veggies also include corn, fresh mung bean sprouts, marinated radish, carrots in sesame oil, lettuce, and cucumbers, followed by additional finishes of cilantro and green onions, toasted sesame seeds and roasted garlic. Seriously amazing in that you can mix and match as you please with the toppings. Incredibly delicious, and not slathered in oil or overdosed in salt. Prices are fair for DC. I love making it different depending on diet and mood- go for the salad if you are feeling super healthful, or rice bibimbap if feeling super or more traditional. The sushi style seaweed wrapped kurrito is fun, but really, my weakness is the tacos. Love this place! It's good that I don't live too close, or I would look like a big old bibimbap bowl... It is tasty here, and more importantly, the people here working the line are friendly and patient. I doubt I could be as cool as they are! Metro accessible... At least when Metro is working... SeoulSpice is conveniently located near the NOMA Metro and is among several other fast casual options like Mint, an Indian fast casual restaurant. When you walk into SeoulSpice, you're be impressed by how spacious and well lit (Props to the cool ball light fixtures everywhere). You order down a line, but one thing to note is the menu above reads right to left when it's more natural if it was left to right. I ordered the Seoul Train with an extra egg on the side. It was just over $10. The food was decent, but it seemed to lack flavor. My friend ordered a dish that said it would be "unapologetically spicy," but it had no spice in it. In order to stay in the game, SeoulSpice will need to up their flavor game. read more

3.5 stars but I'll round up - I had the Seoul Train tacos. Very tasty - I think next time I'll try that same combo in a bowl. I only got 2 tacos and was pretty full, so unless you're a big eater, 2 tacos might be just fine. They're very generous with their portion sizes, yet my taco was neatly assembled with very little fall-out. Impressive. Bulgogi is awesome, and I rarely ever eat red meat. The negatives - the yuzu drink is definitely skippable - it was very meh. I might try the green juice next time, but this is not a Cava or Gusto where the specialty drinks are worth shelling out for. The kimchi wasn't very spicy or flavorful at all. I get that SeoulSpice has a more varied clientele than a non-fusion Korean restaurant, but there was no spice or garlicky bite. It was just kind of meh. Will try more things off the menu and update this review, but in general, I'd recommend SeoulSpice over the Potbelly/Roti/etc that are on the same strip. read more

This incident just occurred around 1:15pm on 4/11/18- So I came here yesterday, and the food was awesome. I was very excited to find a place I loved so close to where I work. I wanted it again today. I start ordering my bowl, and get to the toppings area. Before I put any toppings on, I see what looked like a baby roach nibbling on a stay topping inside the glass of the topping bar area. I pointed it out to the person who was making my bowl, and she just nonchalantly gets rid of it. Another lady came out and asked what toppings I wanted. I was like ummmm I'm a little grossed out by that incident. I just wanted them to say they were very sorry and assure me it was an isolated incident. PROS: egg yolk was soft-boiled which was good but look at my later comments for the egg whites. Toppings were abundant, line was fast, staff was normal. Fudge brownie was gluten-free and pretty good but no Nutella taste (as advertised). CONS: egg whites and tofu were both too salty; they tasted like it was marinated in soy sauce. Iceberg lettuce was used for the salad bowl instead of mixed greens. Radishes were not marinated well either- bland. I had a Very tasty tofu rice bowl, it's called the herbivore. I got it with the Korean hot sauce dressing and the ginger carrot (both vegan). Comes with lots of veggies. I didn't think the hot sauce dressing was too spicy, it has a little kick but not a ton. Fast, friendly service. I'd definitely come back to try the korrito (Korean burrito). Maybe I'm just picky because I'm Korean but I thought Seoul Spice was just okay. It's a Korean chipotle style restaurant, where you order as you go or you can pick one of their bowls. The first time I came here, I was a bit confused though, because I chose one of their premade selections. The man behind the counter then asked me what I wanted in the bowl, so what's the point in the premade bowls? Anyway, the food here is mediocre, but good enough to eat if you don't have time and are in a rush. I got a kale salad with most of the toppings, and the portion size is very generous. However, the kimchi tasted very weird. It almost had this sulfur taste to it... and I know what kimchi should taste like. After I ate the bowl, I felt horrible for two days and I'm not sure if it was from the kimchi or what. I do recommend getting the other toppings though - just stay away from that kimchi! I do love the creamy sriacha sauce...that thing is addicting! read more

Came here to eat during COVID for their first time ever experience serving Korean barbeque and it was honestly really good! For $15, we got to each unlimited kbbq for an hour. The time slot is very short but that price is unbeatable. They give you ample sauces and sides, however to my surprise there is no soy sauce. Unfortunately, you only get one kind of meat in your unlimited experience, and you must pay for each individual portion of any other kind of meat you get. That didn't stop me, as I'm a fiend for the unlimited all you can experience. We ordered until the very end and got super full! The establishment has also kept the dining experience during COVID extremely safe and clean. It was reservation only, and you get your temperature checked when you enter the building. The tables are very well spaced out and each is equipped with an medical air purifier. Staff is very friendly and they kept the place clean regularly while we were there. The Korean version of Chipotle. I feel like that does a slight injustice to SeoulSpice. I mean, I guess that's what you would call it if you're trying to describe it to someone. A while back, some weirdo told me Chipotle was a Mexican version of Subway. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Found SeoulSpice through Yelp. Was super lazy and wanted delivery, but I kept reading reviews about the food showing up cold, some sauces and whole meals gone missing. I haven't gotten up the courage to use UberEATS and it wasn't gonna happen tonight. I'm a hungry bih and I'm getting my meal hot, fresh, and in its entirety. Parking on the street is a joke. I circled around and found one, but I doubt I'll be that lucky during the summer when it's busy. Also, it's currently January 8, 2018, and we got a warning for freezing rain on the drive to D.C. Yeah. I don't know who takes care of the sidewalk, but that thing needed salt. It was severely unseasoned! By the time we had finished our meal, there was even more ice! I couldn't walk a few feet without slipping. I had to take off my shoes and run to our car. Whoever is in charge of that, if it's not SeoulSpice itself, please do something. That's so dangerous! No one should have to break their neck for some food. Back to the food: It was about an hour and a half until closing time when we walked in. I glanced at the reviews and already knew I wanted to sink my teeth into the purple rice. Got a bowl (bibimbap) with the rice and half beef, half tofu. (Next time, I'm getting half chicken/pork.) I literally get all of the toppings except avocado and sesame seed oil. All of them. And a little bit of the cilantro-lime ranch. Can I tell you my mouth hasn't been that happy in a long time... Food-wise, ya nasties. It all married together perfectly. The tofu was great at balancing out the sweetness of the beef. There wasn't a single topping that didn't go with another. The kimchi was nice and crunchy and shrimp-free! I know authentic kimchi is usually made with shrimp, but this won't make ya go into shock or break out into hives if you're me or my coworker. I finished that bowl in record time and was tempted to get another for the next day, but that's something you need to enjoy when it's hot, not reheated. I got a can of La Croix which I've never had before. Don't wanna relate to hipsters. While my coworker was paying for his meal, he spots the tea and juice off to the side and gets a cup. I throw a fit because I want that instead of La Croix and the man who fixed my food just gave me a water cup. So nice of him! I could have cried. The kale apple juice looked interesting, but we both had our eyes on the yuzu honey lime tea. Didn't taste like honey, lime, or tea.. more like a lavender lemonade which I like, so I wasn't bothered. Very floral, refreshing, and somehow went great with my food. I would pay for a meal like that again. Oh hey! Let's do that two days from now! P.S. For the woman working there with the gray scarf on her head, sorry if you thought my coworker and I were talking about you when I jerked my head back. SeoulSpice made our 2018 New Year's weekend. It's important to preface this review by saying I flew in from Seattle to spend three days with my guy. On the way home from the airport, it was so cold that we vowed we were not going to go outside for any reason during my stay (lol) This meant we would be eating only delivery for an entire weekend.... Cue SeoulSpice. We scoured through ubereats and postmates before narrowing our options down to SeoulSpice and a few others. I, of course, did my due diligence on Yelp and we decided this would be our first meal. We made sure to order "The Egg" with our two bowls and also got a burrito. Unfortunately, both eggs were missing from our signature bowls. What a bummer! Don't get too upset, though, because the food was PHENOMENAL. So much so, that despite the missing eggs, we ordered again the next day. I mentioned to my guy that he should say something nice in the comment section about our prior order. He did. Much to our surprise, they doubled our eggs in the second order and reprimanded their previous error. We were so thrilled that we literally ordered two more meals. Again. Customers for life! Bottom line: Yes, it's that good. Fresh, crisp ingredients, healthy servings, and outstanding customer service without ever having stepped foot in the store or speaking with staff. We've visited SeoulSpice twice this week, and have been impressed both times. When you arrive, queue up and choose between one of their set recipes, or build your own. You can do a rice bowl, salad, burrito thing, or sandwich. I've done one Southwest rice bowl, and one build your own rice bowl - all ingredients have been fresh. The staff are friendly, efficient, and prices are reasonable for DC. The bowl and a drink is just over $12. May I recommend - stay away from those sodas and give the kale and apple juice a try. Yummy!! Found this place randomly after shopping. It was very close to the NoMa metro station and probably one of the only things super close by that was opened late at night. We arrived at 9pm and they seemed like they were ready to leave! Chairs were up and they were cleaning. Wasn't the most welcoming entrance but the workers were still very kind at least! It is a fast place to go to like Chipotle except Korean flavors! You go down the line picking rice bowl, salad, burrito, or taco then picking your protein and veggies. they offer purple rice which is a korean rice that i rarely see elsewhere! (apparently it is also healthier than white rice!) I picked one of their signature combination: Seoul Train. I really liked the combination of flavors! i added the cilantro-lime ranch. YUM! it really made the dish. I wish the bulgogi was a little hotter but i guess end of the day, i cant expect much. For around $10-$11 after tax, I was very satisfied with my order. I chose purple rice and half spicy pork half chicken bowl, with the works in terms of veggies. I got to choose all my toppings and sauces, and was in and out very quickly. The bowl was extremely filling and the meat was tasty. The only reason why I went down 0.5 stars is the area can be a little sketchy at night. Don't let that deter you from grabbing a quick, convenient bite here if you're around and hungry! read more

I thought SeoulSpice was great. Is it on-par with that great authentic out-of-the-way Korean BBQ that your Korean friends take you to? No, but it's not what Chipotle is to Mexican food, either (as in #bless Chipotle for all that it is, but authentic Mexican it is not). I thought they hit just the right amount of spice and flavor, and although I got one of their suggested combinations, I'll probably be more adventurous and make my own next time. The purple rice was fine, but not as exciting as it sounds! The green tea (packaged) was perfect: actual chilled green tea and not the sugary sweetened stuff. The decor and staff were amazing as well! My only complaint isn't even really mine--my boyfriend felt like the bowls weren't enough food. I thought it was the perfect amount, but if you're a big eater you might want to get a side/take that into consideration. read more
