The gnocchetti I had was one of the best bites I've had in quite some time, and I encourage you to give it a shot. The fettuccine all bolognese was extremely tasty too. Both had the option to get some very good Parmesan grated table-side. But as always, nowhere is anywhere without great service. This place has it. Like what the heck, we were dressed up and not ugly, why did they do that?! We had to request another table that was obviously open. 2. The bread was foccacia and a tad dry. They gave us olive oil and balsamic but it was upon request. They said they would refill but they never did. 3. Food: that spotlight dish with clams was DRY. "Nuff said. We came here for date night, and it was pretty packed but not super crowded. Our server was attentive and we got bread and water right away. We got like three of those breads , the first one wasn't as fresh but the second two were delicious! They also have olive oil to dip, and it's a yummy focaccia bread. Great dining experience! I had reservations for a Friday night that I was late to and they were able to accommodate my party within a 30-45 minute timeframe. The service was amazing, as was the food and drinks. I ordered the Ravioli Di Funghi and the Norma Jean drink. 10/10 and would absolutely return. Tip: Do not go through valet. The gnocchetti was undercooked to the point it was inedible. The crab ravioli smelled so strongly of fish, I actually went to the restroom because I thought I was going to throw up. I took my girlfriends here to check out this place bc I heard it had just opened last year. I was so excited about their food bc I had heard good reviews about it. We had a reservation for 8:15pm on a Sat, but didn't get seated for like another 20min. Then when we got to our table, it was this huge table tucked in a dark corner (there was only 3 of us). I asked if we could sit at the high tops near the front instead, which felt more al fresco. Don't know why we weren't seated there to begin with. The bread was good, but don't know why they give u these tiny little coasters to hold the olive oil in. It didn't hold enough olive oil/balsamic vinegar for the table. The drinks were good, but the pasta dishes were lacking. I ordered the mussels linguine dish, and it did not look like the pictures online at all. It was so dry. Most Italian seafood dishes come w delicious broth. This had none. I told the waiter I couldn't eat my dish, and he didn't offer me an alternative dish to trade it out for unfortunately. My friends' dishes: duck ravioli and pesto dish was a lot better. I was also disappointed that the waiter never offered us more pepper or Parmesan on our dishes. Most Italian restaurants do. I wonder if this waiter wasn't trained properly. This atmosphere at this place definitely felt higher end. The parking is in a paid garage which is validated by the restaurant. We went for lunch and the place was fairly empty. We were seated in the back area with the nice crystal ceiling decorations, adding to the atmosphere of the restaurant. Some things that hindered my experience were the fact that our table was wobbly as well as the chairs. There was also an older lady with a young kid (maybe 6-8 years old) which was incredibly loud and kept on walking over to our table. At times even when the host was taking our order, but she did nothing about it. The food was subpar. The panini bread was a bit tougher than would be convenient to eat and the spaghetti was incredibly bland. The dessert, however, had unimaginable levels of flavor. Beautiful restaurant in the city with affordable, good quality Italian food. Serena Pastificio is located near Politan Row in Colony Square. I only just found out about Colony Square and that Midtown has another food hall. The interior of this restaurant is absolutely BEAUTIFUL. Great place for a date night or to spend time with friends. I saw several people having what seemed to be work lunches as well. Despite the elegant and upscale ambience most customers were dressed in casual clothing - this was during lunch time on a weekend. Not sure if it would be any different during dinner time. They also offer you a mask as soon as you walk in. There is also a window where you can see the cooks making fresh pasta. The menu prices itself were not bad at all. I don't eat Italian food often, but in my experience usually you get charged an arm and a leg for some pasta. But here I saw prices as low as $13-$15 for some fresh pasta which I thought was great! Since we came around 3PM on a weekend we received their brunch menu. I wish they offered more pasta options without pork but that is just my personal preference. My friend ordered their Fettuccine alla Bolognese while I opted for the Spago al Pomodoro. I was really apprehensive about getting the spago al pomodoro because usually that's just a boring spaghetti with marinara sauce. But wow was I blown away! The pasta tasted so fresh and was perfectly chewy. The sauce was DELICIOUS and savory. I couldn't believe something so simple would be that tasty. They also let me add a grilled chicken to my pasta dish for $5 which was nice. The grilled chicken was a perfect texture but I think the spago al pomodoro would be just as delicious without it. My only complaint with this dish was that it was a tad oily and it was moreso apparent when I reheated it for leftovers. My friend loved here bolognese. We also ordered tiramisu for dessert and it was plated beautifully with a wafer/crisp on top. It's good for sharing between 3 people. It wasn't too sweet and was perfectly moist. Our server was great and always refilled our waters. I just wish I knew about the bread service! Not sure if it is a thing you order off the menu or if it's complimentary but I will definitely look into it next time! Another thing I thought was odd was that when we got our to-go boxes they had trouble finding bags and could only find one bag for my friend and I. I wonder what happens when people place large orders to-go or have a lot of leftovers. The restroom was very private and quiet. The paper towels were really nice too. Had a horrible interaction with one staff member at the hostess stand, had an incredible waiter, and food was alright, so overall a roller coaster of any experience. Service: We had a reservation for a party of 3, and 2 of us were there while 1 was running late. They have a policy of not seating incomplete parties, and I respect the policy, but I don't respect the way it was delivered. After telling us they couldn't seat us, they were dismissive and told us they'd hold for 10 minutes and then we'd have to get in the waitlist for a table. I understand doing that for a restaurant that doesn't take reservations, but it felt pretty unnecessary to do that when we had a reservation for a small party and 2/3 guests were there already. He was visibly annoyed when I asked about why. It doesn't matter if I'm the 1st or 100th guest to ask you a question you've heard before or find annoying. From a customer service standpoint, this is my first interaction with you, so the kindest thing to do is politely explain it. We weren't offered a chance to wait at the bar, and there's nowhere inside that you can sit and wait, so we sat on this tiny bench in the mudroom they have before you get into the restaurant. When our final guest arrived, then we were offered to go wait at the bar until they figured out where to seat us. He didn't say how he would contact me to let me know our table was ready until I asked about it. Huge missed opportunity for hospitality, making guests (late or not) feel comfortable, and enforcing policies in a way that's not dismissive. Our waiter really turned it around, though. He was charismatic, joked with us, recommended dishes and drinks, and really helped us feel welcomed. Food: As for the food, it was good, but I did not feel it was memorable. We got the calamari, the linguine alle vongole, and I got an affogato for dessert. Calamari - interesting bright take on the dish. Along with the squid, there were fried citrus wheels and artichokes with a really rich olive oil dipping sauce. Good for sharing with 3 or 4 people. Linguine alle Vongole - pasta was heavy on the lemon and garlic flavors, and had a perfect consistency. My clams had a lot of sand in them though, which made for some unpleasant bites. Affogato - I got this with a delicious dulce de leche gelato (you can pick the gelato flavor), and coffee was nice and strong. They serve Lavazza coffee, which is the same as what they serve at Eataly! (a positive thing, from my perspective!) Drinks - I got a Norma Jean, and it was delicious and sweet. If you're like me and don't want to taste the alcohol, this is the one!! Food came out pretty quickly after ordering, and they do have a delicious complimentary focaccia with oil and olive spread. Vibes: Romantic with gorgeous flower chandeliers, and bright oak or bamboo furniture. Very much gave off modern boho vibes. Lots of couples there, and guest attire ranged from biz casual to suits, as we came for dinner. It's pretty loud and chatty inside. They also have a cute outdoor patio with string lights, but it was raining tonight. Overall, I would say that this experience was alright. I think this restaurant fits the vibe of Midtown with its glitzy modern interiors and pricing (really not bad for an Italian restaurant in this location). Feels like a place for a nice post work dinner or to bring a date to. But gosh, that hostess stand service has got to improve. I get you're running a tight ship, but you're the first impression we get, and I got "we don't care about you" energy. I would say, still give this place a try and see how your experience goes. And heads up, have your whole party here on time, as they are not flexible on that. read more

I came here with family on a Saturday night. We made reservations and did not have to wait. We ordered the house wine which one of us had before and enjoyed. Our waiter immediately said "that's nasty" when we ordered the wine and tried to upsell us. We appreciated the honesty, but it was a little awkward considering someone in the group had it before and didn't mind it. The food was pretty good, although the gnochetti was extremely Al dente and was not cooked enough in my opinion. The bolognese was very good. Don't waste your time. Awful and unacceptable experience. Never have I had to make a reservation to another establishment while sitting in a restaurant. We arrived 15mins prior to our reservation, the hostess are super friendly. We were shown to our table 2-3mins after our arrival, middle section behind the bar. Kayla was our waitress, although it was not initially obvious. She filled a small dish with olive oil, I thanked her, she ignored me. Later another person dropped bread, they were pretty pleasant. Kayla came back and without an introduction or anything remotely welcoming she verbatim asked us "what we wanted." Instead of facing me, she stood behind me to take my order. We both order salads with the intention of ordering pasta and she brings back two plates of untossed salad and abruptly leaves. We had to flag another waitress to help us because she wasn't coming back. I asked for my check, again nothing from Kayla. She was completely disrespectful and her behavior was ridiculous. I may have given a pass assuming she was simply having a bad night, but then all the tables around us were be treated like patrons. I second what a few others have said. Solid 4 stars here. We got the ravioli and the Bolognese -both were good but not like "omg I can't wait to come back and get it again". There are so many super amazing pasta spots which also make their own pasta etc in our town and I def think as awhile this spot will do pretty good. This location is awesome just outside IPIC in midtown area with super cool indoor and outdoor seating. We made rsvp on resy and we're seated super quickly. Service was good and our experience was worth coming back - even without the food being super standout. The calamari app had an awesome lemon zesty sauce with it and the pulpo app was also cooked perfect and tender. I Recc both. Def heads up they close at 9 and last call for things is at 9. Atlanta doesn't have many places where both the ambiance and food deliver for vegetarians, but this is one place that does. The foccacia bread to start is toasty and tantalizes with the smell of rosemary. We started with the Nero salad- love the Gorgonzola dressing and the crispy pears and croutons. Only thing I wish is that the kale had been massaged more as it is quite crunchy and requires a lot of chewing, but at least it has been chopped well. The pesto pasta I ordered for my main was aromatic savory, and rich with its generous serving or pine buts, and satisfying, with the green beans providing great balance to provide some crunch to cut through the richness of this dish. It was so satisfying!! Finally, the dark chocolate gelato did not disappoint! Not too sweet- but and an ample serving for one. Overall I can't wait to go back. Would definitely recommend! read more

This place was absolutely spectacular! I found it last week on yelp when looking for a nice Italian place foe my friends 23rd birthday and we stumbled across this gem. The pasta we got was delicious, but our favorite part had to be dessert! We got two (pictured below) and one of them had gold leaf on it! Probably one of top 5 pretty restaurants in Atlanta. Very pretty interior with white flower petal like hanging on the ceiling. Very nice ambiance. I love pasta and Italian food so had high hopes. Apps, I enjoyed a lot; pulpo was great. Calamari pretty good as well but wished the dipping sauce was a little more interesting. Little bland as a dipping sauce. Rucola salad was good. Order this if you love arugula. Portion was pretty good but then their prices run a little higher than other pasta places. Vongole was a meh for me. Liked the bolognese better. Literally came here because I saw a TIKTOK!!! And I'm so so glad I did! Came for our weekly Wednesday meet up with my colleagues. I started off with the featured old fashioned which was delicious, and then a Pinot Noir. To eat, we first had the Burrata (which I wasn't a fan, but not cuz it wasn't good, but because that's my personal preference. it was. If it were my thing, you know?). As my main meal, I had the Fettuccini alla Vongole. Pretty tasty. I'd give it a 7.5/10 to be honest. The flavors were lacking a bit. I could have used some pepper (didn't ask for some), but I did ask for Parmesan (it was fresh), which was delicious. The pasta is made there too! So why 5 starts? Truly because of the ambiance and the service. The outdoor patio was closed because of the weather (it didn't end up raining and it's a covered patio), but I hope to sit out there one day. The spot opened up 7/13/21 so it's new and they are training a lot of people. I don't know about you but I absolutely love to see it. The servers were so exceptionally nice and attentive and just amazing I'd come back just to make them my besties. And the spot is absolutely stunning! Like talk about great photoops here! (Or even my wedding reception spot!! No my wedding isn't coming up, my man hasn't proposed yet cuz he doesn't exist......but one day I'll be receptioning there!) Will I be making it my regular spot? I am a huge fan of the restaurants in Colony Square and this is no different. I came here for my 21st birthday dinner and everyone loved the food and drinks. And the FONDUTELLI AL TARTUFO just tasted like peppery ravioli. It didn't come with meat so I added chicken which was just basic grilled chicken. It was creamy, but flavors were not anything unique. From the moment we walked in, staff was very friendly and welcoming. The place is beautiful, inside and outside. There is music playing in the background, but not loud enough to where you can't hear each other. Our preference is usually to sit at the bar, and it did not disappoint. The service was great! For them being open only two days, they had it together! Reggie was our bartender, he was very efficient and got our orders in quick. We went on a Thursday night, and it was pretty busy. Regardless, our food came out fast. For a drink I tried the Germanicus, I am a gin drinker and this was STRONG and BOOZY (Definitely a sipper) it was not too sweet, refreshing and delicious. They have a happy hour menu from 4-6pm during the weekdays. We tried the polpo arrosto, it was fantastic. It had a perfect wood fire grill taste to it. Their pasta is hand made, you can see Alberto making the pasta himself in the front of the restaurant. We tried the Gnocchetti Sardi and the Ravioli di falso magro. The gnocchetti wasn't bad, it just lacked some flavor. The ravioli was pretty good as well, just not mind blowing amazing. What was absolutely delicious and huge though? Their tiramisu! Location is great for dressing up a little or a date night (I took my daughter for a Daddy Daughter Day). The plaza before you get to the restaurant is an experience of its own. There are swings, a grass area, the look of the rising buildings is all picturesque. Entering the restaurant, the ambiance keeps you in the excitement of the plaza. It is beautifully decorated with a great bar. The staff was friendly and attentive. The food did not exceed my expectations, but I'm thinking I may not have ordered the stars of the menu. The Times used to have a rating of "a worthy addition to the neighborhood" and that's how I would rate Serena Pastificio after my first visit. I wouldn't send a friend from across town to visit -- like I might for BoccaLupo or La Grotta -- but if you're in midtown (or visiting the theater/symphony hall) and seeking a well-lit and nicely designed spot where you can talk with friends and colleagues and enjoy a fine pasta dish, I'd send you their way. This is part of the Colony Square huge redesign and one of the first freestanding restaurants....on the 1st night, they opened the wall out to their patio and its a really pretty scene (my so-so photos attached). The waiters seemed a bit nervous with the Italian menu names but hey opening night. So what's good? I started with the Burrata which is a selection of roasted baby peppers with a lemon basil emulsion. Good! My companion had the trenette al pesto with pine nuts, lemon, and parmesan. And then I ordered one of their more expensive meals (market price) -- the Cioppino, a seafood stew with lobster, prawns, scallop, grouper, mussels etc. Good! Overall, the place doesn't have a personality yet...i believe its the first of its kind but it felt like there were others.....but it may develop one. The ambiance is also nice both inside and out. The downfall was the food itself, specifically the entrees. We ordered two appetizers, the meatballs and the brussel sprouts. Both of those were good so I figured the pasta would be as well... both the crab ravioli and gnoccheti disses were not good. The sauce on the gnoccheti dish was very watery and pulling to the bottom of the plate. There was also very little flavor and it honestly seemed like a dish made by someone who is not a chef. I tried to finish my plate without complaints but couldn't bring myself to eat it. Our lovely waitress took it off of our bill and I really appreciated but did not expect that. Overall, there's so many better Italian restaurants in Atlanta. Go somewhere else if you're looking for a great meal! read more
