This old restaurant on 4th street is very well recognized at one of the most used intersections in St Peterburg. They did a very good job restoring and making it look like a part of the neighborhood. The bar was open bright and inviting. The first dining area had great ambiance and went well with the theme of the movie but did not go well with the entry way or bar. The next dining space emphasized the old windows but the over the table lights were too much. We all felt like we were in a spotlight, so much so I loosened to of the bulbs to reduce the lights. Our waitress was very attentive, helpful and friendly. She has a little way to go on promptness but we also did not feel rushed. She will get there. Our first drink, excellent in house made Bloody Mary mix and a pretty good margarita... I did feel like it was short or tequila and the flavor was basic. We each ordered something different for food. The tuna tartare was a favorite, the steak tartare was served almost in the French way. We each felt like it could have been better with an option not to shave the egg. The falafel had a great flavor but was a little over cooked and dry. The snapper was good but not something any of us would order again. The two standouts... the seasoning on the fries and the fried pickles. The batter on the fried pickles was excellent so much so we ordered a second basket. Honestly nothing bad to say... beers were great. Service was great. Ambiance was great. We arrived right when the power came back on as a summer storm came through. Everyone working was in great spirits taking it in stride. Sitting at the bar everyone waits on you, not just one server. Given the circumstances, no one appeared stressed. They don't offer flights, but you can sample beers, which is great too. The beers were flavorful, but not overpowering. The bar seating area is indoor and outdoor, which gives it a key west vibe. The drink I had was really good. I had 2 of them when I was there! The nachos was a large portion enough for 3 (we split amongst the 2 of us and had leftovers). We also had the scallops Mac and cheese which was really good. I've never been anywhere that served scallops Mac and cheese so we definitely had to try that out. Overall, it was a good experience. I have been dyingggg to check this place out and this past weekend I was finally able to! The location of this building is supposedly haunted so all of their cocktails.. oops I mean SPIRITS have spooky fun names. We ordered the Haunting and the Evil Eye (which has a lychee "eyeball" in the drink!) We did eat while we were there, but we mainly went for the boo's and the decor. We loved our server. I'm afraid I can't remember her name, but she knew her stuff and the history of the building. My favorite part was in the women's bathroom. Looking at the mirror, the door has one of my favorite movies written on it! Will definitely have to go back for their brunch. Be prepared to make reservations and be patient trying to find parking. He said he had to try and said it was very good, The only kind of bad thing is we made reservations for 6 pm on a Sunday. it said there were no reservations left for bar. When you walk in you see a marriage of industrial chic with a ghostly flair. Its an old historical building, the back story is on the menu, and some people believe its haunted. Had an early midweek dinner here with mixed results. On the plus side: very charming building, nice decor in interior. Spacious and clean bathrooms. Friendly service. Seated at a comfy booth in the window in back, noticeably cooler than thefront of the restaurant. As for the rest: we waited maybe 7 minutes for the server to come to us after sitting down and weren't given the Tap List so had to ask for it then. We ordered all food and drink at the same time. He said he'd put the apps in right away and wait to put in the entrees. We said, "good idea, thanks." Drinks and apps came out promptly. We had the hummos starter with chimichurri, which was delicious. It was served with bread which was terrible, though. (Maybe bread was gluten free? There are lots of GF options on the menu.) Also had the spicy sweet wings that were good, but they do not have "buffalo" sauce as the menu says. I did enjoy the spicy honey glaze, though. These were accompanied by a very small amount of dressing for the celery. We asked for more dressing no problem, but why not just bring enough to start with? Entrees: despite being told our dinner order would hold so we could enjoy our apps, it came out like 5 minutes after we had our apps. This is always a huge bummer, racing to eat food before it gets cold. I had the beet salad with burrata. Very tasty, but it was drowned in dressing. Generous piece of burrata, which I loved. My husband is an adventurous eater so orders weird things, but even he did not like his selections. He had the coconut beer which was much too heavily flavored with coconut. A hint of coconut would be nice, but this reminded me of drinking suntan lotion. He also ordered the jelly donut burger. Two patties plus bacon and cheese between two glazed donuts and a dollop of jelly on top. A sticky mess impossible to eat by hand. He didn't mind the flavors but would not recommend. Stopped in Sunday for a late lunch. Surprised they we only open until 3 pm on a Sunday arriving at 2 pm worked ok. Good beer selection, nice balance for everyone. We were both pleased with our choices. I had the Hangover which was very good. A nice option would be to add a fried egg. My wife had the Snapper Benedict but had the snapper served separately. We tasted the snapper which was good but not with a poached egg. We'll have it for dinner with the sautéed veggies. Heather was our outstanding and engaging server. Went to Sesh for the first time, and I would definitely return! The atmosphere was cool (Halloween vibes all the time), the drinks and service was amazing! Only reason for 4 stars was my dish, which was the bowl with the "blackened mahi mahi" that was not blackened at all. However, my friend got one of the St. Peters-burgers and it was delish! I've visited four times, three during the afternoon at the outside bar, and one dinner reservation on their rather large patio. I'll start my review with the pluses. Their people and their beer. I've been served by Gabby the most and she's a sweetheart and a true pro at her job. The other personnel are also friendly and competent. I'm usually there at the 4 o'clock shift change and everyone works together well while still taking care of the patrons. The beer is brewed next door and the pipes run from the vats to the tap. My first try was the Coffee Stout and it was the smoothest, freshest-tasting stout I've had in memory. I've read where someone has said the tap list isn't impressive. Just order the beer. PLEASE. Don't be a snob. Come on now. And on that note, I also have to disagree. They have a New Zealand IPA on the list (NZ is hot nowadays) and it's delicious. A tasty red ale, and many more interesting brews. For dinner, my wife ordered the cheesesteak with no cheese (yes she's a weird foodie) and she said it now has become her #1 cheesesteak without cheese surpassing The Press in St Augustine. I have to admit I drooled looking at the delicious pieces of meat perfectly cooked hanging out of an impressive bun. My daughter and I both got bowls and we agreed that they lacked flavor (coinciding with another reviewer). I asked our server for some siracha but she said they didn't have any. I was surprised to find that this restaurant has a bit of a spooky theme! That's always fun and appreciated. The food was all decent. I tried the fried pickle spears, which I thought were amazing. They were crispy, and the breading didn't slip off. The ranch was kind of runny, but very flavorful. I also got 808 chicken club. It looked super vibrant and fun, but the flavor was just kind of mid. There was this like bright fuschia colored sauce which looked Suuuuper cool but honestly had no flavor. The brioche bun was also just too much bread for this sandwich, especially given that the sauces were not very flavorful. I eventually took out the chicken breast and bacon to eat only those and they were incredibly delicious and juicy, I think they just need to be paired better. Had Sunday brunch here. Baked oysters were only OK, and $19 for 6 of them means they better be pretty solid. Smash burger was good and so were the fries. My wife got the poke tuna bowl and wasn't too happy with it. Was very basic (tuna, rice, cucumbers, kale, that's it) and they didn't have any soy sauce. My wife waited about 10 mins for it and they brought some other stuff instead since they didn't have soy. Didn't come with wasabi either. Not sure they thought that one through. If we go back it will probably be for lunch and we'll keep it pretty basic, burgers and beer. Place is nice and outdoor seating is great though. read more
