The staff is excellent, and I think we've only had 2 instances of mediocre/less than exceptional customer experience! They are fast at serving, check up on you often, and always have a positive attitude. The veggies, seafood, and sauces are restocked constantly. The store is as clean as you can ask for hot pot, and the staff don't hesitate to clean up your extra plates and dishes. Word of advice for first-timers: Add yourself to the waitlist on Yelp or arrive very early before you actually want to sit. They are very busy during most of the day, and waitlists can get up to three hours at peak peak times. Be prepared to wait for the best meal of your week! New favorite place! Unlimited AYCE veggies and meat? Why not?! Meat quality may not be the expensive grade you get from Japan or anything, but it does the job to get you to always ordering more meat. The veggies are fresh and its pretty much the basic vegetables you would put in a hot pot. There are also seafood choices. I recommend getting the clams, so good. They have many noodle choices to put in your pot whether you want it in the beginning or the end, I got the ramen noodle to go with my House based broth. As for drinks, many basic choices and for me, I got one of the capri soju (strawberry), talk about being a "kid" again right? read more

This place is pretty great! For me, when I come in to eat the service is always very attentive & speedy! I haven't tried all the broth soups yet because I keep going back to the sukiyaki one! It's so tasty! There's a pretty decent range of veggies and sauces. The meat selections are good, too. Celebrating your birthday here is exciting as they get the whole restaurant involved. Probably the only place i'd ever tell that i'm celebrating my birthday because it's THAT good. No embarrassing "Happy Birthday" song from the staff. Just one big shout of "happy birthday!" and about 30 secs- 1 minute of them blasting a birthday song on the sound system. Love the concept of this place. The price for evenings and weekends are about $30 per person AYCE. i liked eating here but i won't eat here again now. i had the WORST food poisoning i've ever had in my life, and so did my friend that went. it was definitely from bad or contaminated meat.. i was in bed for 2 days throwing up. I should've been more careful anyway because i notice how busy they are and when we ask for meats they come out so fast stacked up, it was definitely premade and left in the fridge. Beef is only great for 3-4 days after exposure and if it's expired then even worse.. I've never felt so sick in my life and i think this company should worry less about the quantity or customers and more about the quality and help risks of their food. read more

I really had high hopes for this new AYCE Shabu Shabu Restaurant at Ala Moana shopping center. My first experience was a bit disappointing. Here's why... First off, our server, Min, was unfriendly and unhelpful. We got seated and he walked over to us, did not introduce himself, and literally stood there. We felt rushed to order so we selected our broths (spicy miso which was HOT) and asked if we were supposed to order the meats from him. He replied, "yes but only four at a time." We ordered the meats and then he walked away. The buffet of fish cakes, assorted noodles and veggies were decent. There weren't as many veggie choices as I would have liked and the quality was mediocre. They have some alcoholic beverages such as beer and soju to order. There's a dipping sauce station with ponzu, spicy yuzu, sesame seed sauce, garlic, green onions, jalapeño and such. The sauces were good. Make sure to eat everything you put on your plate or else they'll charge you $5.99 per plate of wasted food. Would I come back? Maybe but only if I was asked to. Overall experience was good, however a couple of things to point out. Our table of 4 ordered all different meats, and when the food runner came by, he just laid it out on the table and walked away without indicating who ordered which meat. As we were trying to check out, our server was nowhere to be found and no other servers were available. We found out that literally all the servers went across to get boba and left us waiting 10 minutes. (We wanted to get boba as well, but by the time they came back the boba place closed). Food was great. 2 stars is for the bad service. There's a 90 minute time limit, which is understandable. What's not understandable is our waiter King Kong taking 20 mins to go through the menu and not bringing things to our table in a timely manner, delaying our eating time. If a restaurant is going to have a time limit, service needs to be on point. Don't be mad at the consumers for slow staff. Dominique came to our table to inform us we were over our time limit and began taking dishes away from people who were still eating. There was only one warning given which was 5 mins before they started clearing dishes. Her excuse was that another table was getting mad for the wait. Sorry, that's a restaurant issue, not a consumer issue. Management needs better excuses and policies, or just different staff that can handle a busy restaurant. My first time here and will definitely come back next time we are in Oahu. Our wait time for a party of 13 (split into 2 tables) on a Sunday evening was an hour and a half. You'll need to put yourself on the Yelp waitlist since they don't take reservations and since it's at the Ala Moana Mall you can shop while you wait. They'll only seat you when your whole party is there and they do not want to be kept waiting since there is always lots of others waiting for a table so be prepared to sit when told. Maximum time to stay is 2 hrs. They take your temperature when entering. You use the ordering sheets to order the amount of food you want. With Covid crazy restrictions, you are asked to get your face scanned by an electronic temp taking device & then can proceed to your table. Our server was very accommodating & patient with our group as there was 7 of us. The only issue I had was that meat orders came in first & were the only things coming to the table for the first half of our sit down. All of our sides & sauces didn't come til later in the dinner. If you're gluten-free, they don't have any gluten-free broths so be prepared to flavor your own hot water. Came here with the kids for lunch right when they opened so we were seated right away. The plus for the kids is that they get to choose their own broth and not have to worry about getting only gluten-free items which is what happens when we go to other places. They enjoyed the selection of veggies and meats for lunch. I was hoping for quail eggs at lunch. They had a sign for quail eggs, but there weren't any. I don't know if it isn't offered at lunch or if they were just out. As a gluten-free diner, I'm not sure if I want to figure out how to flavor my own broth. I brought my own bone broth powder to add to my hot water, but put too much chili sauce in my broth. If I knew how to make my own broth, I would most likely stay at home and cook my own hot pot. We did enjoy the fish and fresh looking veggies they offered. Servers were friendly. Not sure if we would go back, though just because of the lack of choices for gluten-free dining during the lunchtime hour. I think I'd rather go to Gen for my gluten-free dining. The broth i got was sukiyaki and it was a really good mixture for the wagyu and the noodles i would definitely recommend eating here.The service was good but needs more staff to take orders and deliver drinks but other than that the servers there right now i give them props for not getting mad at anything and getting slammed by large parties. The ambiance was quite pleasing i love the hospitality and they really vibe in there when there's someone's birthday and try to get the whole restaurant to celebrate the person's birthday as well it was really thoughtful of them to do those things at a busy restaurant.
