The avocado bacon burger was amazing - Angus beef cheeseburger topped with sliced avocado, applewood-smoked bacon, and ShackSauce on a toasted potato bun. They are generous with the avocado slices. I also really enjoyed the cookies and cream milkshake. By the time it got to my apartment it was quite melted, so I stored it in my freezer overnight and loved the soft ice cream consistency it had the next day. The chicken bites were the only let-down. The meat was covered in a very thick breaded layer with a strong flavor which I didn't like. They also reheated quite poorly, with the breaded layer breaking apart when I picked them up. The next time I'm craving chicken nuggets, I'll go to McDonalds. But for a burger and a shake, I wouldn't hesitate to order from Shake Shack again. read more

I used to be a big fan of this location, especially as a reliable spot for a decent meal before an event at Q2 Stadium. Unfortunately, a move to ordering kiosks combined with some management issues has severely impacted this restaurant. Our last visit was a disaster; a 30+ minute fruitless wait for our food capped off by a refund because we were going to miss our event. We witnessed a restaurant full of anxious and disappointed customers, some of whom also got refunds. From all the fast food burger chains, Shack burger ranks the highest in terms of taste! I love the 100% all-natural Angus beef patty which is cooked to perfection that just melts in your mouth with each bite yet the edges are slightly burnt to give it that crunchy texture! Cheese is nicely melted on the patty followed by fresh tomatoes and lettuce with Shack sauce on the buttered potato bun which holds it all together! My mouth waters just thinking about it. If burgers and taste was the only criteria, I have no hesitation to recommend Shake Shack. But then there's the pricing...for the size, this is straight up robbery! Two small single patty burgers and fries cost 15 dollars! And I'm still left hungry! Bring a date, you are now looking at $30 before shakes. You can get a burger twice the size at Five Guys with similar pricing and nothing beats the value to taste ratio of In-N-Out! Do not care too much for their fries or the hotdog (also overpriced). I also personally like the shakes at In-N-Out & Chick-fil-a much better. They have introduced chicken bites but they are nothing special. I like the seasoning on the breast chicken for the Chick'n shack but the sandwich as a whole is uninspiring. This particular Shake Shack has a covered patio and some outdoor games so that's really nice. For me, the pricing, size of burgers, and overall value just doesn't match the competition despite the burgers being tasty. After my last review I was given a gift card to give them another chance. My only complaint had been the prices but they explained the higher quality ingredients, so I was prepared to increase my stars. Instead I was VERY disappointed with this experience. If it was my only experience I'd be giving a 1 or 2 star review. To use the gift card I needed to download their app and order from it. The cell service (at least with AT&T) was awful there so I had to walk to Macy's to use their guest WiFi. The app projected a 11-16 minute wait which was fine, we were in a hurry but we'd have enough time to eat our food quickly. We went inside and sat while we waited. After about 12 minutes we got a text that the food was ready and to pick it up. I walked up and showed an employee my phone and said I was picking it up. He asked my name and said they'd bring it to me. We waited 10 minutes after this and never received our food. Finally I went back up and ignored the employee and sure enough our food was sitting in a bag that had been there. At this point we needed to leave, so I had to drive without eating anything. My girlfriend fed me some fries but they were cold and weren't salty, nor crisp. My girlfriend didn't eat all of her chicken because it had a weird taste and my sandwich was cold before I had a chance to eat it. This was very disappointing. read more

I just wish I would've remembered to tell them not to salt them because they do come pretty salty. They have an awesome shaded patio with games, it's very dog & kid friendly, the burgers & custard are delish, and the staff are always as friendly as can be. But let me tell you about my 3 favorite things about Shake Shack. #1 - Monthly social run series, Shack Track & Field. #2 - Ordering via the smartphone app. #3 - Chopped cherry peppers as a burger topping. The monthly 2nd Tuesday social run has been going on at South Lamar for a while, but we just got the Northside version in summer 2018, thanks to the awesome local free running group, the Shoal Creek Striders. You can find more info on social media, but it usually starts at 7pm with a group photo, then runs through the Domain of either 1, 2, or 3 miles (your choice). Afterward, you are rewarded with a free shake, beer, or wine (go through the C-line for this unless you are ordering food at the same time), plus fellowship with your fellow sweaty beasts and the possibility of some sweet raffle swag. The management and staff of the restaurant always go out of their way to make us feel welcomed and to expedite the massive numbers of hungry/sweaty people who all want to be served as soon as possible. Love it! I got into using the smartphone app to make my order as a way to ensure that my food order would be in the queue and ready for me as soon as my run was over. It's great to be able to build my order and pay online earlier in the day, then just show up at 7:45 at the Online Order Pickup counter after the run to collect my order. It also meant I don't need to carry sweaty cash or credit cards in my run belt. One caveat to note: the "ASAP" order option will not work when they are extremely busy (such as right after 60 runners finish their run), so it's best to set-up your order way before the event starts if you are planning to use the app. FYI, they text you when your order is ready, so no need to hover at the counter. read more

Fast casual place looking to up-charge for faster food items because they can. That's what I got from my experience. The food was ok but nothing really stood out. Maybe the Shake Shack phenomenon is just a cult following that will eventually fizzle and pop. I ordered a Lockhart link burger which consisted of a sliced sausage link on top of the burger along with a root beer and fries. Fries tasted better than In-n-Out but the burger, even with its fancy additions, tasted like a burger I could toss on the grill myself. Root beer was ok. I'm still confused why so many suburbanites stand in a long line for overrated burgers when In-n-Out and other local establishments could easily crush them. I might come back to try a different burger or order something else. However I will leave this on the back burner for now. No gain and no loss. read more

I went simple with their classic burger. My husband got the bacon one with sweet peppers. We also shared an order of bacon cheese fries. For drinks he got a chocolate shake and I got their lemonade. After years of only providing the 'Shroom Burger as their sole vegetarian (and not vegan) option, Shake Shack finally released their Veggie Shack, which can be made vegan by subbing your buns to gluten-free buns! So that's exactly what I got (and fries, of course), and my husband ordered the Shack Stack with Cheese Fries. As a first-timer at Shake Shack, my husband did not realize that they had accidentally served him the wrong burger (ShackBurger) until the employees corrected themselves and got him the right one soon after. Unintentionally having tried two burgers, my husband liked how both beef patties had a pleasant smokey aroma, and the ShackBurger, in particular, paired well with the cheese. But his favorite was the Shack Stack, which he found to be superior to even the other burgers from different big joints he's tried. As for me, I enjoyed my Veggie Shack as well--the patty wasn't like the Impossible or Beyond Burger patties that you can fool non-vegans with. Instead, it was clearly a veggie patty with visible bits of carrots, whole edamames, and other greens. But even as a junk vegan, I think that their veggie patty was good because the real vegetables gave a nice bite to the burger. The fries were also delicious from being served hot and fresh, even if we may not be the biggest fans of crinkle cut fries.
