Amazing food! This is a 5-* review not so much because of the food rather the service. I saw an employee laughing and talking with a custy as he was wiping tables! Must be a pretty good employer that provides this type of culture, not overly strict that a worker can't enjoy a moment of levity and interaction while cleaning and providing a welcoming environment! When I asked for a wash cloth to clean my own table, they wouldn't give me one stating, "we will happily clean it for you, please give us a moment to get there." When it didn't happen in a reasonable (my term, haha!) time, I went back and asked again and a manger came out to do it himself. Couldn't help but be impressed. Really poor customer service. Wouldn't come again on a busy day. We waited 30-40 min to get a text for our food, but we were never notified. After we finally went to ask about it, the server said someone else had taken it. They only started remaking our food after we asked them to. Shake shack is not worth the hype at all. compared to In-n-Out, I choose In-n-Out for so many reason. Maybe it was this location and its not like New York but staff first off. Then when they called our number we said thank you and the worker totally just walked away. Maybe he didn't hear but a "enjoy your meal" or anything is better than getting ignored. One worker that stood above the others was the worker walking around and picking up trash and asking people if everything was ok. She was so sweet unlike her coworkers. The food. Maybe the saddest burger I've seen. Its small and flat without me even touching it. SHACK BURGER: The most average burger I would say with some sauce added. The price was $5.55. Not worth it at all. In n out sells a burger for $2.45 and probably double the size of shake shack in a normal one patty burger. The SHACK STACK which was $9.95 because its 2 patties, one in which it's a normal patty and the other is crisp fried portobello mushroom with cheese. The mushroom is literally like rubber. Its almost impossible to bite through the dang mushroom. I don't know why it's so hard. I had to pull the mushroom down with my fingers because I just couldn't bite it off. The fries are a joke. $3.99 for these crinkle cut fries. These are like frozen fries you can buy at the store but the portion is so disappointed. I'm paying $4 for about 30 French fries at most. I can't buy the same exact fries for the same exact price and get a whole entire bag filled. The only reason I've given this business 2 stars is because the shake was at least the best thing there. I got black and white shake and that's pretty good. I believe it's a chocolate and vanilla shake. While INO has a simple menu that is indeed great and stands on its own, after all, SS offers a variety of burgers options (bacon, shrooms), dogs, wine/beer, and custard shakes. I've been to the original location in New York at Madison Square, and also the West Hollywood location that opened last year. In summary, I liked but not loved. The patty was good, but the overall burger was not. Fries, good but not great. Shake, well, it reigned supreme. Previously in NY: I ordered a Smoke Shack Burger [$6.84, 3.5 stars], fries [$2.99, 3.5 stars], and an Oatmeal Cream Shake [$5.99, 5.0 stars], and in WeHo: Shack Burger [$5.29, 4.0 stars], Strawberry Shake [$5.59, 4.0 stars]. So when the opportunity came up to go to this new Century City location, I wasn't as excited, but had to try a few more items and explore further the Shake Shack. ITEMS REVIEWED 1. I've been to Shake Shacks before, but this specific location seems to be a little less organized in the kitchen. The burgers I got here all were heavily salted in random areas, so half the bites just tasted like biting into salt piles. This was disappointing considering the prices at this Shake Shack were more than other mediocre fast food places. Other than this potential one time mishap, the burgers are exactly what you'd expect: oily, thin, and small. Can't say I recommend. Food is a solid four stars. Service is either a four or a three, depending on your experience. It did take kinda awhile for a couple hot dogs and a chocolate shake. However, the Vienna Beef dogs, charbroiled on a slightly buttered and grilled bun, did taste delicious. And the chocolate shake is not to be dismissed, either. In fact, you'll wanna grab one of these custard-based dreams and dive right in. The fries are very good, too. They're the friendly krinkly variety: they are not greasy and they are salted perfectly. The cheese sauce (extra) is surprisingly good and addictive. Seems like American cheese, melted down, and makes for delicious dipping. Try that, and/or get some ketchup (Heinz, if I'm any judge). Really nice before catching a movie. The tables and chairs are comfy, and the airy room is full of windows for a nice view. There's a couple reasonably sized TVs for your diversion -- happily, it doesn't take over the place. I could imagine dropping by for a beer and a game sometime. The invasion has begun! Finally finally got my first taste of Shake Shack after they just opened their latest location at the Century City Mall. The wait was about 15 minutes from the doorway to the front of the line. I ended up ordering the Shack Stack cuz even with the few items, I was overwhelmed.... Shack Stack: Shroom Burger combined with the regular Shack Burger. It was a hefty amount of food so I say you should be pretty full afterwards. I felt that the patty was too salty for my liking. The portobello mushroom though was the start of the burger. I see why every races about the Shroom Burger. It was crispy and had this depth of flavor. I think what I loved about this burger though but the bun. These potato buns were fluffy and slightly sweet. A good compliment to the savory patty and portobello mushroom. Fries were also legit but still just fries... For some reason, I felt the ketchup had a unique flavor that made me want to keep going back for more. Overall, a good burger. No joke. Can't compare it to In-n-Out. It's just different. I would compare it to like an Island's in some respects. Shake Shack is the bomb! This location runs fairly efficiently considering how packed it gets. When I arrived, I began standing in a long line so I could order. As I looked around, I noticed a sign in their location that advertised their app. I remembered I had the app and decided to create an account and order like that instead. I did that haha quickly and it shortened my wait time by quite a bit. The waiting area is slightly packed and can jam up the area with the condiments. The app notifies you by text when your food is ready. Once you receive the text, you can just go up and tell them your name to get your food. Their good is amazing! I tried their lemonade for the first time and was very impressed. It was perfect with my meal and I would definitely get it again. 3 burgers and 2 shakes cost approximately $37.00. This is what it looked like when I tried to add mayo to what already looked like a dry shake shack burger. I'm not sure who is responsible for quality control at this location, but this was a disappointing waste of money when In n out would have cost much less and included fries. I have had shake shack before at this century city location, but as of today 7/17/19, I plan on never going back. HiHo in Santa Monica is worth paying for and hopefully the location in mid-Wilshire will be open soon as another alternative which is a 5 star burger. I've been a fan of Shake Shack since first eating it in NYC over a decade ago. So it was a big deal when Shake Shack expanded into California. If you're already a fan of the brand and food, then you won't be disappointed. This location offers the same yummy burgers and food that you'd expect from the brand. The service is fast, accurate and friendly. A great addition to the burger scene in LA. For anyone unfamiliar with the brand, then you should do yourself a favor and try it out. Great tasting burgers and some wild sandwich options. If you're comparing this to In-N-Out, the level of yumminess of the burgers are comparable. The price is higher at Shake Shack. The bacon and cheese fries, the burger, the milkshake.... Everything! The atmosphere is really nice as well. Especially with all of the new renovations that have been done over the last several years. There is only one con that I would add and I wouldn't even really consider it at bad thing.....The lines are sometimes a bit long so just make sure you aren't pressed for time because it may take a bit to get your food but otherwise everything else is pretty amazing. The thing enjoyed the most was the fact that they had several managers walking around ensuring that the service was great and everyone was enjoying their meal. Its been a couple of months since I last visited this location and since I was in the area I decided to give it another try. Without a doubt, I have always been a fan of the food at Shake Shack but the only thing that was keeping me from returning was the consistently bad service (as shown in my previous review) I was receiving at this location. I can say that this visit was completely different from all the past ones. Every single staff member I encountered this visit was very kind and helpful. I don't know if they recently made changes in how they are changing their staff but I am very happy with this change! It makes me more willing to return to this location. During this visit, there was a little bit of a line but the staff kept it moving quickly and the food came out faster than expected. We went to the location at the Westfield Mall in West LA by UCLA right away the food court had a good variety of places but shake shack definitely stood out. The line was not too long but not too sure. The different items on the menu just made you want to try everything. However I had to try one of their double shack burgers all I can say is it was D Lish it was dumb heat , . The fries were crinkle fries always good and very crunchy. As we ate outside myself and my father were constantly asked if we were OK and if we needed any refills which I thought was awesome and great on their staff. Every delivery order I get there is a delay. I waited an hour and a half, food always shows up cold. You figure maybe 1 time no problem, 5 times in a row. Now if you show up in person, you're gonna wait. I stood in line 30 minutes just to place an order. 4 people in front of me. Just standing around waiting to order. Stopped at the Shake Shack to grab a quick lunch with my friend and her daughter. We had never been here until today, Feb. 10, 2019. It is a very crowded place, long lines, definitely not enough seating but that can be expected in a shopping mall plaza especially on a Sunday. We ordered a Chicken Shack (fried chicken sandwich), Smoke Shack ( hamburger), hot dog, fries, ice tea, lemonade and oreo cookies & cream shake. The chicken was delicious and my friend enjoyed the burger. Her daughter liked the hotdog. The lemonade and ice tea were ok although there was too much ice not enough fluid so the drink was finished after two gulps. The fries were tasty. The shake was very creamy not as thick or chilled like other shakes. I did notice a Portobello mushroom burger on the menu for you vegetarians or if you're interested in trying something different with no meat. This burger joint is similar to other fast-food chains (ex: In-N-Out) except there are no combos, meaning, each item is priced separately. It can become expensive when compared to other burger joints that offer combo meals. The customer service was unexpected in a good way. We had two waiters stop by our table asking if we needed anything and if we found everything ok. I guess the hospitality is the thing that sets Shake Shack apart from other fast-food chains. Would I come again? Hmmm...Naw. It's too crowded/no seating. Oh! Almost forgot! They will hand you a buzzer device that indicates your order is ready. Do I recommend this eatery? Yes, only as a one time experience. We were hungry and needed a quick bite plus it is conveniently located off escalator from parking structure (smart business move :D). Check this place out for yourself. The staff are friendly and the Chicken sandwich was crispy and flavorful especially the added cucumber pickles not like the soggy pickles that you see on McDonald's burgers but actual cucumbers. My girlfriend and I witnessed one of the most disturbing scenarios of rudeness towards a customer ever! A young black kid walks into this Shake Shack a minute or two after closing stands behind two other customers waiting in line to order and he's asked to leave in manner that even we felt offended; I don't believe that this was a case of racial discrimination but it could have been perceived that way, instead I believe it was a case of employee unprofessionalism or even stupidity. This guy Nick pictured below had the audacity of seating down to eat after embarrassing the young man out of the restaurant. If you don't want anyone to come in lock the door or stand by it, anyway one more burger would have not been a big deal! Shake Shack is located in Century City mall and is adjacent to the food court. Parking can get pretty bad when the mall is crowded but finding a space is usually not a problem and there is one hour of free parking! Now on to the food. I've had Shake Shack a couple of times and all my experiences were pretty decent. The burgers are not bad but they are pretty small, not very filling, the flavor is decent, but the price is a bit steep. I usually order the Smoke Shack which is just a burger with bacon. Nothing really wow but it is not bad. This time around I got the Roadside Double which has Dijon mustard, onions, bacon, and beer. This tends to be my favorite out of the burgers as it feels to me as it has a more unique flavor profile slightly justifying its price and eating there. The one I had last night tasted very beery which I didn't like and I was pretty hungry afterward. Now let me talk about the most important part of Shake Shack. The best way I describe Shake Shack to others is by saying its SHAKE Shack and not BURGER Shack. I absolutely love the Shakes. They are creamy and delicious and I just love the flavor. I usually get vanilla which I would assume to be plain and just basic but no. It just has great flavor and amazing texture and its just creamy goodness and you can't go wrong with it. They occasionally have seasonal flavors and yesterday I got the Chocolate Peppermint which was also so damn good. Literally terrible service. Slowest place ever, ordered online and got notified food was ready only to get there and told it wouldn't be ready for a while. I don't know if they click the ready button to keep their "stats" falsely high as far as prep time goes, but it just means you wait around for 25+ minutes with no way of being notified of your food. Probably worst shake shack location I've ever visited personally. Could've sat down at a nice restaurant and had 4 courses + dessert in the same time frame. Update: the food is just as disappointing the chicken bites look like they saw heat for 3 milliseconds and the bacon cheese fries look like they sprinkled the toenail of the pig onto them. Pleasantly surprised by the food here after countless folks hyping it up to me. I was like nah, it can't be that good, can it? And you know... it was pretty decent! I like my fries crispy and these crinkle cut fries delivered. Really good, even without ketchup, plenty salty and flavorful. I also really enjoyed my burger, which... you know, I struggle to classify? It's not like the usual fluffy burgers I eat with a stiff patty and crisp lettuce. This was sort of melted all around, with a moist patty and a soft potato bun. I really liked it, and I do appreciate that they use little discs of roma tomato instead of watery beefsteak. We got a chocolate malt and that was the least impressive part of the meal. Not good or bad, but certainly not chocolatey, OR malty... it sort of tasted like someone had used that extra fluffy churned vanilla ice cream and squeezed a little chocolate sauce into it. That's not the type of malt I love, sadly. Would definitely eat here again, even if the price point is a little high since you're paying extra for fries -- they don't come as part of your meal. read more
