I brought a large group of kids to celebrate their team competition in science. It was 14 kids that our group was going to celebrate. We had the buffet lunch which was really good. The cashier was friendly and helpful. Families ended up showing up as well (we didn't plan for it) and the hostess (? Not sure the position, she was clearing tables) seemed annoyed that those families had taken tables not near our party. She brought up that I mentioned only 16 total (it was two coaches plus the 14 team members) I informed her we didn't include or invite families only the team. Shakey's Pizza Parlor is the place. A staple in Southern California for years. That thin crust pizza with the great fresh toppings. Fresh fried chicken comes out piping hot. And the potato mojos. Nothing like them. Plenty of seating area if you're dining in. Or great for pick up and take home. Great place to watch sports games and have parties. Fun zone for the kids. Service is great. It has its peak busy hours like any other restaurant. So you could experience a line to order sometimes. So if in the Covina area come get yourself a dose of PCM. read more

If you think Shakey's Pizza is cheap, think again. We ordered 3 pizzas, the all-you-can-eat salad, 10 pieces of chicken, and mojo fries, and it came out to about $120. For that price, the food was very mid and not worth it. The cleanliness was disappointing there was trash under the tables and the sofas were stained. We had no choice but to sit with trash under our table because it was the same everywhere. Overall, the price does not match the quality or the condition of the place. read more

Wow I don't think I've been or seen a Shakeys pizza in the south Orange County area in a while. So much so that I had to stop here in Azusa to give this place a try to re-live some old childhood memories. This is a large and nice location with lots of tables and booth seating, along with a play area with games for kids. I got the Shakeys Special pizza just because I wanted something that is known by them. It had all the stuff I liked from pepperoni, sausage, beef, mushrooms and olives. Along with it I tried their Mojo Potatoes and an Antipasto Salad to go along with the pizza. Once you pay the food it brought to your table when ready. The pizza was good, and the crust (being regular crust) was nice and crisp. It went well with the antipasto salad which has a little bit of everything from lettuce, cheese, peppercinis, salami, and you get to chose you dressing. The mojo fries were exactly what you'd expect but I still had to try it. Overall, it was a good pizza parlor even though it has a little more difference impact now to me as an adult. read more

This past Thursday my family and I decided to go to Shakey's to celebrate a recent victory. I want to acknowledge a young man named Angel that not only made sure my party received our food in a timely manner, he gave exceptional customer service. Most people in customer service you can tell that they are just trying to do their job and there's nothing wrong with that, however this gentleman made it look like it was second nature to him and I felt like he was truly happy to serve us. There was a young lady that was cleaning the restroom and unfortunately I was unable to get her name but she was very polite during the evening. First off, excellent customer service! The parlor was very clean and well taken care of. The staff was super attentive, checking in to see if we needed anything, but not just the servers, even the manager Elvia and what I believe was the GM stopped by to make sure we were taken care of. It's been a while since I've been to Shakey's, but the food and chicken had that same great taste and same great feeling I remember. They've even added some new items, which was a nice surprise. The interior is clean and I like the decor. Felt like a nice dining experience for a pizza buffet. You pay at the register and they give you your plates and cups. Staff will come around frequently to give you a new plate for when you get more food. There's a lot of parking and indoor seating. There's also seating in the arcade in the back. Fast friendly pick up exchange and the place looked pretty neat and clean, so I may just eat there next time. Their pizza has just never been my favorite, which is why I can't give 5 stars. Chicken and mojos though were amazing. A also liked their website. Really easy to place the order. Only other concern and compliment was their packing. Yesterday I went to Shakeys in Covina, and had an amazing brunch with my family. Jacob was super kind and helpful, quickly walking all around to each table as I was watching him interacting with customers and cleaning up after them. He then came to our table and asked how we are doing, taking our trash and dirty plates, and then proceeding to interact with our baby, making him giggle! Excellent service from him. The mojo potatoes from Shakey's are great. Yes, sometime in 2014, they changed the recipe of the mojo potatoes so that they are thinner, don't have as much potatoes in them (the fluffy potato center), and the oil changed as well. But despite the changes, the mojo potatoes are still one of a kind. If you're looking for the best value, however, I suggest you go only for the lunch buffet--which is from 11 AM to 2 PM and cost $19.98 including drink (about $3 less without a drink). I sound like an old man now, but in 2009 to 2011, I used to try to fight my depression and anxiety by eating myself to near-coma at this buffet, lmao. Long story short, this tactic did not work very well. But I digress. (Back then this buffet was less than $8, including drink, a casualty of inflation and high demand.) Nonetheless, after going to five different Shakey's locations in my lifetime, I will say that this particular Covina location, at Arrow Highway and Azusa Avenue, has the best lunch buffet because of the assortment of offerings, freshness, and how they take great care in making sure everything is replenished.
