We really enjoy this Thai food restaurant. Although we have only ever gotten take out and never dined in, it is very good. A few of our favorites are crying tiger beef (SO good if you like a little bit of spice) and the pumpkin curry is delicious. I appreciate that they don't go light on the meat and vegetables in the curry. We once tried the duck curry and it had quite a bit of skin in it. I didn't love it, but if you are a big fan of duck curry the flavors were good. My one complaint is that I wish they had a pineapple curry or a massaman curry. Those are two crowd pleasers that the picky family members always like and it's unfortunate they don't have them here. I've heard this same complaint from a neighbor as well. I do think the prices seem higher than most other places around. I'm always surprised that somehow it feels like the total always ends up being ~$70 for two of us. read more

Quality of food and ingredients is what makes their food so inviting. Tried the TomYum soup with salmon and it was delicious, prepped delicately with less oil (how I usually like my food). Well, this is definitely my favorite Thai restaurant in the bay area. The food is always very fresh and delicious. The service is always very friendly and fast. I ordered the pad kee mao for lunch today, and the noodles stuck to the paper in the paper takeout containers & the paper got wet & began falling apart. Not enjoyable! We were truly amazed by the great service we received! We went there on Valentine's Day Dinner with our 6 years old child who can draw on the paper table (we left so many hearts there) and it was a fantastic experience with great food and drinks. Our daughter got a small gift. Plus, first time ever an alco drink was filled again as well with no charge. We were there first time and will come back for sure! Omg Please make sure to check your receipt before paying! I am the victim to this. The person below me also had similar experience w this place. They automatically added auto gratuity but it is hard to check bc they used mobile device to show me receipt. On top of that, they auto default tip amount to 18%!!!!! I haven't been here for a while and was excited to come back as I remembered the good food. I was somehow quite disappointed. The crispy tofu was perfectly crispy but quite liquidy on the inside which burned our mouths. Without the sauce, they were very bland. The curry roti with eggplant came with just a few thin slices of eggplant that looked more like garnish. The roti themselves were tasty but greasy. The green curry sauce was great. The Pad Thai was disappointing. The sauce tasted as if made with ketchup. Rather inedible. The Pad See Ew with chicken didn't look very appetizing, was greasy and bland. The Pad Kee Mao with veggies looked and tasted the best but was also very greasy. Service was ok. They didn't have to pack our leftovers, we can do it ourselves. We were in conversation as he came over and quite theatrically packaged our food making us stop talking with each other and interrupting our flow. Luckily no pre-added tip on the receipt. read more

My review is more like 3.5~. Decent Thai place you can find in Mountain View. I wished they had lunch special as the portion is really big for lunch. My favorite was green curry roti, the egg plant goes really well. The service was fast as there were not too many customers there, but they tend to have few servers so sometime you need to call them for attentions. I would come here for dinner with more people so you can share the food as if you only order one dish you can easily get tired of taste. Food Quality: 1 star. Not surprised with the 78 health score. Not only was the fried rice overly sweet, mushy, burnt; and portrayed and sold as something more expensive but the taste was horrible. Everything in this plastic container was burnt except for the shrimps. Who burns fried rice? Apparently these guys. The plain white jasmine rice was overcooked and mushy! YUCK! Presentation was awful. Ingredients were disgustingly and haphazardly combined to make this catastrophe. It had eggs and shrimp along with a sprinkle of randomly shaped vegetables-mushroom, carrots both stringy and with jagged edges. Ingredients were of poor quality. Eggs did not taste fresh. Tomato was surprising. The different cut carrots, different cuts of mushrooms, wilted cilantro was disappointing. It seemed as if they were putting together whatever was left in the fridge. Horrible. We came for lunch to try this place out. We ordered the roti with green curry appetizer, served with a few slices of eggplant. It was right up there with the best roti we've had elsewhere. We tried the Crab Rangoon Rings, crab & cream cheese wrapped in wonton skins & fried. It came with a honey mustard dipping sauce. It was pretty good, but I'd have preferred if it came with a vegetable rather than the cream cheese inside. My husband had the Roasted Cashew Nut in the "From Wok" section of the menu and opted for chicken. He really enjoyed it. I had Pra Ram, from the same section: spinach, cabbage, broccoli & peanut sauce. I opted for the vegetarian version. It was good, but perhaps an overload of peanut sauce. This was my first visit to Shana Thai, and I chose it for a Mother's Day lunch, which we always do one day early to beat the crowds. I was very happy with our visit for these reasons: + Prices were reasonable, especially considering the large portions + Taste was well-balanced, medium really isn't very hot. Maybe a little on the sweet side... just a tip in case you don't like that. + Ingredients were excellent: The mixed seafood dish had huge pieces of scallops and fish and the prawns were probably 21-25/lb. + Service was excellent... the bartender even served my wife's margarita with an offer to make it either more sweet or sour. + My pet dish is Asian wings. Theirs were excellent! + Environment was classy - tablecloths, comfortable seating. They did not add an automatic gratuity to my bill like they did for others reviewing here. I suspect that might happen with large parties like it does at a lot of places. I'm surprised the aggregate rating is only 3.7. They deserve better than that. read more

We discovered this restaurant during COVID and recently ordered after not having Thai for several months. It's definitely going back into our rotation, the food is so yummy. We got yellow chicken curry, yellow steak curry, green curry roti, Fried Chicken over Fried Rice, and jasmine rice, and Crab Rangoon rings. The yellow curry dishes are HUGE, we each got 3 meals out of our entree. The curry is just delicious - so flavorful and delicate with the perfect amount of heat. We started with the Roti appetizer which came with a green curry dip/side which was excellent! The roti bread was flaky and cripsy with that perfect doughy bite. Definitely a must try if you go! I'd give it an easy 5/5. For my entree I got the Chicken Pad Thai noodles. The flavor was there but the noodles and chicken were a bit dry. I like my pad Thai to be more on the saucy-side rather than dry so it was bit lacking. And the chicken was also dry and a little tough. I don't know if this style of chicken is the way pad Thai is supposed to be since most places make their chicken the same way, but it would be much better if the chicken was more tender. I'd give it a standard 3/5. If you want your Thai fix then this is a decent place to check out. I think the true rating I'd give this place is 3.5 stars. read more

If you want to eat foil or tiny sharp pieces of plastic, come here! If you want food that won't cut up your internal organs, go elsewhere. Basil beef we ordered had no basil. Instead, I found a piece of metal. When I brought it up to the server she quickly took it away from me and dismissed it as just a piece of foil. Umm...I didn't order foil beef...I ordered basil beef. I placed my order yesterday around 3:30pm and it was prepared and delivered even earlier than anticipated at 10:30am today which worked out perfectly. I just recently joined a new practice and every Friday lunch is provided. I was chosen to pick a place for the week and I chose Shana Thai. I love food and I am surprised how spicy this dish is. I love spicy but unfortunately as you age like fine wine, your stomach kind of takes a turn for the worst. One of my colleagues says this is one of the best places and I love it so far. Mixture of veggies from bit size carrots, string beans, broccoli, red and green bell peppers, cauliflower and asparagus. Robust with all kinds of flavor and colors. Tofu is alright. I think they used the fried tofu. I'm a bit of a stickler when it comes to what types of veggies and protein restaurants use in your food. Shana Thai has been our favorite Thai food for years now and never disappoints. When I was pregnant, we ordered it nearly every week. It helped get us through COVID lock down. We regularly marvel at how good it is as delivery compared to other restaurants. Basically, it has a special place in our hearts. Last night, they took it to the next level when we ordered catering for my husband's birthday party. We had a large number of vegetarians, vegans and guests with food allergies, which can make it difficult to find something exciting for everyone. Well, everything was amazing and everyone kept telling us how good the food was (we had pad kee mao with tofu, spicy eggplant with tofu, yellow chicken curry, and spicy sweet basil chicken). The gentleman who delivered the food was so helpful with bringing in the food and setting up our chafing dishes, which I have not experienced with other restaurants we've ordered catering from in the past. I've come to Shana Thai twice now and both times the restaurant seemed a bit quiet. They constant had customers, both for dine-in and to go, but it has never been jam packed. A pretty decent size parking lot availability. Moo Ping - the pork is very flavourful. You can really taste the spice. Might be too strong for some people. Since the flavor is already rich, I don't think that it's necessary to have the spicy sauce on the side. Though this is a great dish to eat with sticky rice, so you can dip the sticky rice with the sauce as well. The sauce also is also very rich in flavor. Mieng Salmon - a bit difficult to eat. The salmon is crispy. The think layers of lettuce made it too big for a bite. But if you want to eat it in bites, then you risk dropping all the spicy sauce (green, has garlic, I think) in the middle. I would suggest the restaurant to come up with a different design for the plating. Maybe make each of them smaller, but with more pieces? I felt like it was such a good dish and I wouldn't want people to not try it because it seems harder to handle. Tom Kha and Green curry were simply delicious. The coconut milk in these were just right-- not too much and not too diluted. Papaya Salad - has all the proper ingredients!!! I must applaud them for this! Some Thai restaurants omit the dried shrimp and/or the green beans. Shana Thai recognizes that these are important parts of the dish and has kept them there. I was so happy seeing that it's a complete Papaya Salad. Thai tea wasn't too sweet. read more
