My fiancee and I experienced the worst customer service. The first Sale staff just stood at the counter and pretended she didn't see us as we approached her. She stared at the ceiling when I asked for help. I had to ask her again for help she was like o yeah? She later on asked someone else to help us because she is busy, and she said we don't get commission anyway. The second sale staff was worse, she didnt help my fiancee for the ring fitting, she gave him a chain of different ring sizes and he was gonna tell her the wrong size. I told him that you can't pick the size that is too big because your ring would fall off your finger. The sale staff didn't say or help us at all the whole time we were debating about the ring size. We decided to buy the ring even though the customer service was sooooo horrible because my fiancee said the process was so bad that he just want to get it over with ( it really made me sad because Shaneco ruined our experience on purchasing a wedding ring that represent a promise and committment for our lifetime.) After we told her that we would like to get that ring, she walked away without saying anything and printed some label and sticked it on the envelope and asked us to follow her to the cashier. I didn't even know how much that ring cost!! And it is just not about the bad customer service. She made a mistake too. After we paid everything at the cashier. We realized everything was under someone else account! They need to cancel the transaction and redo everything under our account. We got our engagement ring and my fiancee 's wedding band with Shaneco, but I dont think I'll purchase my wedding band or any other things else with Shaneco anymore after this horrible experience with them. They are not professional and they don't treat customers with respect. Maybe because 'they don't have commission anyway'. She was very kind and understanding and empathized with us about our situation and the lack of communication leading up to the delivery of the ring. She explained what happened on her side, but didn't make any excuses for the lack of communication. She said she used our experience as a training opportunity for her staff and told us that the next time we come in to shane co. she would personally meet with us and help any way she could. What can I say I love this place. I bought several pieces for my girlfriend from here in the past 2 years so when it came time for me to get serious and ask for her hand I came here. I brought my now fiancé with me to look at some rings. No pressure, no sales pitch just let us look around and when we were ready they pulled out what we wanted. In steps Paul Salazar. I have to admit I am a salesmans worst nightmare. I have no problem looking at everything and walking out to go shop around. I wouldn't call this a sales pitch as much as an educational experience. We pulled out several diamonds my fiancé picked her favorite and then he showed us the difference between them all while actually teaching us about the gems. I brought my mom to help me pick it out and my future father in law met us there as he recommended Shane Co. He has been going to Shane for years and said he is very pleased with them. I was blessed to have Alex assist us. I'm a naturally indecisive guy and he was very patient with me and really knew his stuff. He explained the basics and helped me decide on a design. He was awesome, plus he is a Warriors fan! Well thankfully she said yes. But I got the wrong size. Resizing was a smooth process and everyone was so helpful. Kris was wonderful! My knuckle is larger than the base of my finger, so no ring size was working out for me. Finally, after having them ship my ring back and forth a total of 3 times, it was decided I needed a horseshoe band installed. Kris and the others really worked with me, despite how many times I bugged them (haha). My boyfriend and I made an appointment to look at engagement rings. Needless to say we were very excited! He took me to look because I'm extremely picky and he wanted me to give him some concrete ideas. Upon arrival of our appointment at 3 pm, were are greeted by security guard, temperature check etc. First Lady asks us how she can help us, and we let her know we had an appointment. She comes back after a few minutes and let's us know that our appointment is with Dina, but that unfortunately Dina would be coming back from lunch late. And that we could wait or go and come back in about 15 minutes. Ok annoying, but not a problem. We agree, we leave and come back 20 min later. Same time as Dina is getting back from her lunch. We approach the doors and security guard again, who welcomed us back and remembered that we had already had been screened and temperature check earlier we arrived for the original appointment time, Dina who doesn't realize we came earlier for our appointment with her, but had to return since it conflicted with her lunch schedule, immediately greets us by saying "YOU need to get your temperature checked." No hello, no nothing. The security guard lets her know we had already done so, so we carry on. Immediately my bf and I can feel Dina's vibe, she's annoyed not friendly and absolutely not welcoming at all. She was so rude. Expected us to know what we wanted already. Didn't offer to show anything to us. And anything I did ask to see, she reacted like I was putting her out, annoyed and hesitant to put in any effort in showing us any rings. I basically had to be very pushy just to try stuff on, meanwhile Dina had the most miserable look on her face. She never once asked about our engagement or anything. She never even sized me, I left the place still not knowing my ring size! She was so utterly rude and uninterested in us. Horrible, awful experience. My bf and I couldn't wait to get out of there. I did end up finding a ring that I LOVE, with no help from Dina. But I literally won't let my boyfriend spend his money here, as the service was so absolutely terrible. What a bummer and let down for us. If you make an appointment, be sure you won't be working with Dina! I bought a ring guard for my engagement ring more than ten years ago and bought the entire wedding set for cleaning and to have the stones checked on a regular basis. This last time when they brought back my ring, one of the sapphires was missing after the cleaning. I had to wait nearly an hour to have them replace it. When my ring was returned I noticed that the sapphires on each side were of the same size, which they never were to begin with, but each of the sides did NOT match the other. One side was noticeable smaller than what I considered normal and were much darker than I recall. Shane Co. had, in my opinion, removed at least 4 of the stone and replaced one side with smaller stones. Now I understood why it had taken so long to do the work. I will NEVER return to that store again, nor would I recommend it to anyone. read more

My boyfriend and I went to the Shane Company twice to look for engagement rings - the first time was great, no pressure, we were able to narrow down our options on the type of diamond we wanted but couldn't find a setting so continued looking. A few months later we decided to return and browse around since the atmosphere was no pressure and since they get new stuff in all the time. BIG MISTAKE! We were helped by a lady and had the complete opposite experience. She was extremely pushy and didn't care at all about our budget concerns. When we found a setting we liked and learned it was completely out of our budget, she said "You should get this because you can plop any type of diamond in there and it will look beautiful". Any type of diamond?! Seriously? I'm sorry but to me, it just doesn't make since to buy a nearly $2000 setting and a $400 diamond. I felt like she just wanted to close a sale and she didn't care at all what our budget was or what we geuinely wanted. I left the store crying because she made us feel stupid for not being able to be more flexible with our budget. I'm never going there again - not even for browsing purposes. I've had several pieces of jewelry from Shane Co (5+ items) so I feel pretty qualified to write this review. First off, I'd say that the customer service at Shane Co. is absolutely excellent. It's their hallmark and probably the thing they do best. EVERYONE is friendly helpful and accommodating. Plus your jewelry is guaranteed for life so no matter what happens ( diamonds falling out, etc.) they take very good care of you and repair/maintenance service is always free. I also love their jewelry trade up program that lets you trade in your band and/or diamond for nicer/newer ones. I have done this a couple of times already and it's the best! The selection, in my opinion (and I am a jewelry buff) is a little meh. They offer classic, run-of-the-mill styles. If you're on a budget they're great because you can find something for an affordable price. If you like simple, "safe" classical styles, Shane Co is the place for you. If you really want something different or non-traditional, you may have a harder time being satisfied. Unfortunately, they offer no eternity bands whatsoever. How I wish they had eternity bands! On all of their bridal rings, the diamonds only reach halfway around the band which means that you're going to constantly have to be adjusting your ring so that the blingy side faces up. The only benefit I can see in not offering eternity bands is that they can offer rings at more affordable prices. The only real issue I've had so far is related to quality and workmanship. For instance on not one, but two rings I've had from Shane, I've had diamonds fall out multiple times. And trust me, I am NOT the least bit rough with my rings. I baby them.I will describe in detail below: -1st engagement ring: Diamonds fell out twice so I picked a new engagement because, duh, I was tired of diamonds falling out. I've had it for 3 years now and it's been great--no issues whatsoever. -I upgraded my wedding band and when I decided to have my diamond band tacked to my engagement ring, the jewelers kept setting it crooked so that the band and engagement ring centers didn't line up. It was very obvious and my family, friends and even the manager and Shane Co could plainly see that it was crooked. I had to send it back 4 times and it was still a bit crooked when I got it back. I just looked bad so I decided to opt for a new band. -the new band I picked was SO beautiful and stunning but on the very FIRST day I picked up my new ring, a diamond fell out. WTH?!?! Nonetheless, their customer service team apologized and promised to fix it. I just really really hope that this is the last time I need to get a repair. For their amazing customer service and free lifetime repairs/guarantee, I'd recommend them to anyone who was looking for some new bling. Update...... Well sad to report that yet ANOTHER diamond fell out merely one week from writing my review. I was SO disappointed to have another one fall out after they had just days before repaired it and supposedly "checked all the diamonds." I really really loved that ring too. However, their customer service proved itself once again when they let me return the ring for a full refund even though they initially wanted to just give me store credit. So thank you Shane Co--I really appreciate it! I just really REALLY hope that they work on either retraining or getting better jewelers. All of the major issues that I've had each time can be chalked up to shoddy, sloppy workmanship. Other reviewers who have had problems seem to agree as well. They don't have the greatest selection here, but they do stand behind their product for life. We bought our wedding bands this weekend. Personally, i have never regularly worn jewelry of any sort, so trying on rings was just plain weird for me. But the lady who was helping us out was very nice and helpful, and about all else, she was patient and that really made me feel relaxed. Since they can only have so many rings out on the table at any given time, i asked her to pull the same stuff out more than once and she was totally cool with it...I would certinaly hope that the sales people would be at a place where the merchandis costs as much as it does. I like the fact that they offer to take care of the rings for life, it really makes it feel like an investment than just something else that we need to buy on account of tradition. They even cleaned nique's engagement ring, which wasn't even from their store. The only reason that i'm sticking with 4 stars is because of their lack of selection. I hate to admit it, but I have recently been addicted to jewelry. I have now known to shop at other stores and the experience has been great at some and really a bad at others. I recently finished completing a ring at a local jewelry store, as well as purchased some other pieces from other local jewelry stores, and the experienced I had between these mom and pops were substantially different than the one I felt at ShaneCo. Not one of them ever pressured me to close a sale and they differently were caring! ShaneCo? Not so much. I'll share the email that I sent them a while back. So it's quite interesting to look back at the experience I had last year with ShaneCo compared to a jeweler down the street, who treated me like I was family and were genuinely nice people, to the one I dealt with recently, who his daughter paid attention to every detail I wanted and gave me a custom piece cheaper than what I could have gotten straight from Shane Co's drawers. It seriously made me appreciate that there's great stores out there and have great bargains. I was really hesitant to post this, but after a year of experiencing some great experiences and comparing it to Shane Co., I knew that I had to share my story Let me preface to say that I did get good service, to an extent, from ShaneCo. The email states they were the best deals, but then again, a year later, that isn't the case. Look at my other reviews if you need a referral. If you are dealing with ShaneCo, deal with Paul. But know that the manager, if he's still there, puts a lot of pressure on his staff. Here's the email I sent to Paul, which I copied the store manager: Hi Paul, I wanted to preface this email to state how wonderful it was to work with you. I have been searching for a ring and the other stores didn't go to full detail as you had. I really appreciated that. Also, my boyfriend doesn't really care much besides two things, the price-point and if it makes me happy. So once again, I would have to say that I was really pleased with you amazing demeanor. I was in sales a long time ago, before my tenure working with banking technology, and I am sucker for customer service - since I always provided excellent service to my clients. I was very fortunate to have managers that were amazing and let me do my thing. My managers trusted in me. They knew that if I gave great service, which I love to do, the sales would follow. It did, I was #2 in sales for the region. So when you were speaking to me, it really made me happy that I may be able to find a good deal, as well as buy from a company that gave good service. But here's the thing, I am assuming the bald guy that was watching you like a hawk was your manager. At first, his peering eyes didn't bother me much, but I noticed all the cues he gave you, he's not very subtle. A blind person could see his actions. Not only that, the reason why I was so awkward at the end, was I heard a lot of what he said behind close doors. His voice was so high, probably borderline yelling, that I can hear the pressure he placed on your to close the sale. This, in combination with him watching every sales person's move, really dampened the mood. I am looking for a ring that is a significant amount of money, $20K is not chump change. This kind of decision takes a lot of time and thought, which you were trying to give me. I was completely happy and was really leaning with Shane Co. until your manager rang in. I found his behavior undermining, dampened the excited spirit of the sale, and unprofessional. I wish I said something at the time, but I was trying to shrug it off because I love the ring. When I called my boyfriend in the car and told him the story, he likened the experience to a car dealership. I quipped back that even when we purchased our vehicle it was not remotely close as this. While I have only been to two other jewelry stores, nothing felt like what I felt today. So after talking to my boyfriend, I came to the conclusion that regardless of how much I loved the ring, was happy with YOUR service, and the price point, based on principle alone, I cannot bring Joe and myself to purchase a ring from your company. I would rather spend more to not feel that I am supporting a business with a tyrannical manager. Joe wants me to be happy, so he knows this isn't going to make me happy, regardless that the price was better. So, I would like to cancel the appointment. If it was just for you, yes, but not for a company ran by that man. If you can pass this email to him, so that the knows that you didn't lose the sale, he did. He made me feel pressured, he made me feel uncomfortable, and maybe he shouldn't have raised his voice during work hours - maybe never. I was really nervous because I just didn't know what I was doing. We came on a busy Saturday and there we're a few couples also checking out rings. We started looking around and were greeted right away and the guy was very helpful and let us know they don't work for commission and if I wanted to try anything on to let him or Scott know. Scott ended up helping us out and was very friendly and put me at ease when he started asking what I was looking for. He immediately started bringing out settings that I may like and I soon got comfortable picking some out to try on. At first, I knew what I was looking for. After trying on a few rings I had chosen a completely different setting. That's when he started asking what size diamond we were looking for. This would have been the most beneficial. He pulled out a few different diamonds and educated us with the color & clarity. He let us look inspect the diamond with magnification. I was so surprised as to what you can see with your naked eye and what you couldn't. We previously went to a different jeweler and we didn't learn anything about the ring he was trying to sell us. We didn't even look at the ring and the price with a few thousand more for the same sized stone! If you want to get educated on diamonds and get great service, I'd recommend coming here. I apologize in advance for the lengthy review, but it's worth it lol. I proposed to my fiancee in March 2009 and was shopping for rings in January. I decided that I should check out this place because its been there forever. I walked in and it was nice and they had coffee and tea if I wanted it. The sales clerks were very attentive and quickly let me know that they do not work on commission. The sales team is the only reason I give this establishment an additional star than the lowest rating. I bought an engagement band without the diamond because I wanted to pick out the diamond in February or late January since I couldnt decide on which to buy at that time. I spent $200 on the band and was going to come back to pick out the diamond. I found an engagement ring elsewhere and decided it was a better fit, so I went to return the band I bought in January. I made sure to read the fine print on the return policy and read that I had 60 days to get a full refund. It was day 58 when I was returning it. I am not blaming the customer service rep or the manager at all since they were just doing their jobs. However, they did not give me a full refund, but instead gave me store credit. The reason was because the company had filed for Chapter 11 during the span of January till the beginning of March. Therefore, corporate said that they were unable to give cash refunds. I was trying to explain to the manager that this was not my problem and that the contract clearly states otherwise. Anyways, I wasn't going to get my money back at that time, so I left unhappy. A couple weeks ago, received a call saying that they can give me a full refund. This is another reason why I am giving 2 stars not 1 beause once again the customer service is great. However, when I went to get my refund, the manager had to come out to sign the check and cracked a joke, "See..I told you we would call you back..." I was like not the time for a joke, since I was pretty pissed about not getting that full refund. All in all, the Shane Co. has great employees willing to help and offer good advice. However, corporate decisions make me wonder about the business as a whole. read more

I received the worst customer service here on two occasions that lead me to not even purchase my ring from this company. On the first occasion, my fiance and I waited for 2 hours to view rings we already pre-selected online because there was only one sales associate working with five customers in the store while all the other workers were in the back having a meeting. Once we finally got our orders completed I then came into the store on a second occasion to view the ring they shipped from another store. When I got there the finance department was extremely rude and appeared to not want to service me or provide me with adequate assistance to make a decision on the ring. The whole situation left me extremely frustrated and with such a bad taste in my mouth I am now forced to have to find another store that will treat me in a way that would make me feel comfortable spending my money. read more

we stopped by last weekend in search of a replacement wedding band for my husband. we had been here once before, but just to gather some information and look at rings. we did not make a purchase during our initial visit. within a few minutes of entering the main showroom, we were greeted by wazhma, who asked for our names and offered us bottled water. she let us know there was also coffee available in the front foyer. we had my husband try on many different bands in different metals: titanium, tungsten, and while gold. we tried both traditional bands and comfort fit bands (cut to fit the finger more naturally, thereby creating a more comfortable fit). after hearing the pros and cons of each metal, we decided to go with the white gold band in a comfort fit. our reasons for choosing the white gold band: 1. can be polished and cleaned, restored to its original shine and luster 2. colour can be restored and band can be re-plated by dipping into rhodium (in store) 3. can be re-sized up or down at any point in time, as many times as needed (important since people's finger sizes can change over time) 4. value can be used toward the purchase of another ring at shane & co. in the future **note that all rings purchased at shane & co are eligible for unlimited complimentary ring cleaning, polishing, and re-plating we were very happy with our purchase, as my husband walked out with a new ring on his finger, and we very much appreciated wazhma who was very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. i guess the only downside to our visit was how busy and hectic it was on this day. since wazhma had to help multiple customers at once (just like her colleagues), there were times we had to wait for her to finish or greet another customer before we could ask another question or ask to see another band. given that it was a sunday afternoon, it wasn't surprising that it was so busy, but our experience could have been better if it was less hectic. i do recommend shane & co to any couple who is ring shopping as they have a large selection of engagement rings, wedding bands, and other fine jewelry at very reasonable prices. read more

I gave these guys such a hard time. I worked with Daniel for most of my time in the store. He was amazing. I loved how before They started showing me any engagement rings, they brought out a gem specialist to teach me all about diamonds. That way when the time came I knew exactly what I was buying. I came in 4 different times before committing to a ring. Every time I was helped promptly and got all the attention I needed. I bugged about every aspect of all 20 rings I looked at before picking the winner. So I bought it. I kept going in for cleanings, polishing,just to make sure It was perfect. They helped me every time! Sometimes there was a little lint stuck under one of the prongs that holds down the diamond. I guess they had to buy a special tool which took 3 days to arrive, but they did it and removed the lint. At the end of the day I was very happy. Bought a ring that my wife LOVES! She doesn't/ didn't even want the second band because she loves they way the first one looks alone! W Went back for my ring. I am a very brown man. And just my luck, I was helped by a very brown man! I can't remember his name, sorry hecka funny brown man!! But he was like, "Oh, I know it's tough for guys our color to find a ring. Try this!" He handed my a ring made from Rose Gold, and it was perfect!! I bought it! and I still love it today, and so does my wife! We are very happy with our rings! I can't wait to upgrade her diamond just to have an excuse to go back in and see how everyone is doing. read more

My husband bought me a promise ring back in the day - like 3 years ago after a year of being together - it bided him 2 1/2 years - so boys I recommend it! It is a beautiful light blue sapphire ring with diamonds in a gold setting - I still get lots of compliments on it still. It was a reasonable price for the beauty and meaning - about $300 I'm still super happy with it but when we got married last August it had to be resized to fit a different finger. So this being the closest one (orginally we got it in San Mateo) we took it in and really received some fantastic service from one of the guys on the floor. He offered us water and then got down to business. I simply gave him our purchase papers and proof of warranty and that was it. He checked my sizing for me, said it would take just a few days and said it wouldn't cost a thing! Which was good to hear since I was sizing up to a 6 from a 4 1/2 which usually costs more since they are adding more gold. I was super happy! It came back perfect, completely shiny and brand new looking! Oh and there was plenty of parking in the large lot. I know the commericals are awful but that shouldn't having bearing on this actual store. . .and forever I still remember all the locations in the bay area . . . " . . .and walnut creek" read more

Everyone, and I mean everyone in the Bay Area has heard a Shane Co. commercial on the radio. "Now YOU have a friend in the diamond business..." Don't lie. You have. Everyone has their own opinion on the ads, but one way or another, when you're shopping for jewelry, you seem to always come over to this place to look around. I have found that for gift jewelry and men's items the prices are on the level and the selection is great. For loose diamonds, I'd recommend going to the Gift Mart up in SF, as their prices, quality, and selection is epic. But when the fiance and I needed wedding rings, David at Shane Co. delivered. We ended up with a 6mm white gold ring for me and a 3mm diamond encrusted ring for her, both very beautiful. I've spent a good amount here of the years on various gifts and presents, and have always found the staff to be helpful and low pressure. What makes this place great in my mind is you can shop here a bit more than other places that try to steer you into something you don't want or can't afford with high pressure tactics. These are wonderfully absent at Shane Co. which is why I always seem to end up here. read more

I own three pieces of jewelry from Shane, my oldest is a pendant that's about 7 years old. Because I'm picky and obnoxious... I have shortened the chain twice, asked them to cut the chain and remount it, and solder the pendant to the chain so it would flip over. All of that work has always been at no charge and always with great customer service read more

My husband ordered my ring on their website, I love the ring but it was too big, so we took it there to re-size...horrible experience! First time they re-sized it, they made the bottom of the band sooo thin and it wasn't the original thickness. I didn't like it, so I took it back. Second time. they re sized it, it was the same thing, they messed it up even more! so we demanded that we return that ring and order a brand new one at the right size so no need to re-size. However, to get a new ring set, they made me go through this 45 mins process where they had me witness them taking the diamond off the ring, weighing the diamond, verifying everything....I told them I have a movie to catch, that I had to leave soon...I ended up missing the movie. This process is long and unnecessary! by the end I was so frustrated that I just wanted to leave. Thank god! I Got the brand new one back and looks great! If you have to resize it, don't take it there! their work is sloppy! make sure you order the right size so you or your lady don't need to go through this experience. The roseville location is sooooooo much better at re-sizing than the Cupertino one. Roseville's shane co process is soooooooooo much quicker ( I was in and out of there within 5 mins for dropping the ring off and picking it up! ) and their work is 100 times better!!! read more
