Was told about this place through a friend who said verbatim "their tamales are better than probably any if not all tamales you've had, no matter what they were made with" Being Mexican and knowing what a damn good tamal tastes like, I decided to see for myself. We came on a Saturday around 5pm. There were a few people inside but not too crowded. We ordered two loaded boat tamal plates. One had spinach/crema, and pork, and the other had chicken and beans w/rajas. We also ordered a piña agua fresca since it was the special. The total was around 52 with tip, pretty reasonable. Food came out promptly and we were impressed with presentation alone, but the tamales were truly delicious. My partner and I each had some of one another's, I was partial to the two I got (chicken/ beans w/rajas) but the pork and spinach were great too!! The masa was moist, the ratio to filling to masa was relatively great, and the assortment of toppings was incredibly in quantity, quality, and presentation! The spicy and mild salsas that accompanied our plates were phenomenal in flavor, I ended up drenching mine in the spicy salsa and then taking my partners mild one too, so good! The piña agua fresca was great too, very pulp forward though, if you prefer a smoother consistency. The rice and beans were also great. Overall, the portion size was phenomenal and we left full. We loved this place so much we came back the following day prior to a concert and got a tamale plate with the chicken and pork as well as 3 chicken tacos. The employee recommended the pineapple date tamal so we added one of those as well alongside an horchata. Tamales hit the same if not better, the second time. I'd go back daily if I lived closer. The chicken tacos were phenomenal texturally, taste, and portion wise! The pineapple date tamal was phenomenal, however I wish there was a preface regarding there being walnuts(?) inside. Not a problem for us regarding allergies , but it was surprising upon our first bites. The horchata was very cinnamon forward. I definitely liked it but have had vegan horchatas that are comparable. Needless to say, I found a new spot that is affordable, ethical, and genuinely has delicious Mexican food, vegan or not! Their tamales are EASILY top 3 for me! Only ones that got them beat are the ones my family makes, but I'm sure even they will approve of these tamales once I drag em here lol. I will be back, way too soon, if I can help it!

[[HIGHLIGHT]]you can tell that this place is well loved by the community, from the warm welcoming atmosphere to the friendly regulars that recommended their favorite items to us.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Tucked away in a plaza with other vegan restaurants, Shane's tamales bring authentic flavors and south-of-the border charm to orange county. The BRT bowls, with pair a tamal with frijoles, rices, salsa, crema, and pickled onions work together in a refreshing yet hearty combination. The green chile "chicken" is bright and zingy, while the "pork" is richer and aromatic. Both pair perfectly with the smoky salsa. If you get the chance to buy aguas frescas, that plus the tamalaes are an unbeatable combination!

This place is legit for vegan tacos and tamales. It's almost like the real thing. Many options to choose from and very good quality. You definitely need to get the taco plate and tamales on the side. The service is very friendly so you'll enjoy dining in as well as takeout if you're feeling it. Stop by if you're looking for a good vegan Mexican spot!

Vegan tamale deliciousness at Shane's. The food is so tasty and extremely filling! I had the combo plate with 2 loaded tamales and rice and beans. Both the spinach and crema and "pork" red chile were so so tasty. Rice and beans were also flavorful and a big hit with my 5 year old. The plate was packed with plenty of food that I ended up with leftovers and everything was super hearty. Will be back and will bring all my vegan and non-vegan friends!

While shopping in the area, I found this cool tamale shop and decided to stop by. Upon entering, hubby and I were warmed greeted by restaurant staff and enjoyed the upbeat music. [[HIGHLIGHT]]We liked the relaxed atmosphere inside the restaurant, tons of inside seating, artwork for sale, as well as an area to play games while waiting for your order to be ready.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Hubby asked if any menu items contained nuts and was told that the creama and pineapple with dates does contain nuts. After hubby looked at the menu, he ordered a BRT bowl with green chik'n,, without the creama with pickled jalapeños as well as three tamals to go which were green chick'n, red "pork," and a bean and cheese. Hubby ate the tamals and raved about how well wrapped they were as well as how flavorful each were. As hubby ate the BRT bowl, he said it's the best thing he's ever had. It was so good that hubby ordered another BRT for me to try. When I ate the BRT bowl, I liked that the refried beans were creamy, the rice was fluffy and well seasoned, the tamal was with mildly spicy with creama. After enjoying the friendly atmosphere, the tamals and BRT bowl, hubby and I will definitely plan to visit this restaurant the next time we're in the area.

It's not very often you eat something and love it so much that you can't stop thinking about it even though you're really full I was curious to try Shane's after seeing the positive reviews and was beyond impressed with the food I wanted a try a little of everything I got the BRT bowl with the pork tamal and I got the three chicken tacos The food came out really quick. The BRT bowl has a lot of little thins added to it. Some crema and pickled onions. I was hungry but loved it. The vegan meat didn't taste off putting and the masa was nice and tender The rice and beans were spectacular and the beans had a little smoke to them I wasn't full after this because it was so light even though it was quite a bit of food I go the chicken tacos next. They may be salty for some but i loved it. I like my food well seasoned The tortillas were soft and warm with a great corn flavor I felt like I was Anthony bourdain eating tacos in Mexico City!! The baby limes that came with it looked they were grown at someone's house The salsas that come with your food are also incredible Be patient with them because there's just one person working there but it's worth the drive and wait. You won't be disappointed Probably the best bite of food I've had in years!! [[HIGHLIGHT]]The inside is small. There's a larger table, a smaller table and an area facing the window[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's all what makes this place so special. I feel like I was eating at a grandmothers house[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Vegan tamales! It's rare to see a place do this. And they do it well. I ordered the loaded boat tamales plate and chose the chick'n green chile, "pork" red chile, bean and cheese with rajas tamales. Employees are super friendly here. As I was buying this to consume a few hours later, they were nice enough to offer putting the toppings on the side (guacamole, vegan crema, picked onions, cilantro, salsas). Also the food was ready super fast. Not a long wait time at all.

Fooood is amazing ! I recommend the bean and cheese with rajas. It's super creamy and soaks into the masa making it moist and delicious. I love the energy in this shop, they are always welcoming and friendly. [[HIGHLIGHT]]There's usually a tv playing something and they have a few tables for dining in. Very chill place.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] They are quick with service as well, especially when there's only one person behind the counter. They also took our order almost at close and it was very generous of them to do that for us. They want to feed you

So happy they finally opened a storefront! I've been a fan since the pop-up days. I hadn't had these tamales in three years and they still taste just as amazing they still HIT. I even flew in from Washington State to try them again, and it was totally worth it. I'll definitely be back and bringing my family. Thanks for making such delicious cruelty-free food!

I had an excellent experience at Shane's Tamales! I went in with a friend and wasn't sure what to get. The person behind the counter was very helpful in breaking down their menu, sharing what the most popular dishes are, as well as their own favorite tamal flavor. I ordered the Guajolota and went with the recommended Nopal Tamal inside, and my friend got the Loaded Boat Chik'n Tamal. We gave in and tried the Chik'n Tacos as well. Everything was absolutely delicious! I was especially impressed by the Chik'n Tacos. The soy protein had the perfect texture, incredible seasoning, and a fantastic smokey charred flavor. We will definitely be back!

Huge fan of Shane's tamales! If we could, we would come here weekly! They are so good; vegan or not- the best around! My husband is a carnivore and he loves them and says they are the best tamale he's ever had. That's saying something. This time I ordered the tamale bowl that comes with rice, beans, guacamole, crema, onions and cilantro. It was phenomenal!! So dang good and fresh. It was pretty filling too. I would order that again! The chickn' and green chile are my go to. The bean and cheese is tasty as well! Service is always excellent. Shane is so kind and personable. You can see him working hard and making those tamales in the back. Ambiance is very casual. There's a couple of tiny tables to eat at; but not much of a dining in experience there. Best to grab some tamales to go! We ordered a half dozen to take home. They reheat really well too! :)

I tried to go here. Parked, walked around and around in circles. Never found it. It's this business still open? If so, how do you find it?

Im not sure if they still operate out of that location but if you follow them on Instagram they post their weekly pop-ups! I've caught them at several different vegan events in the are. It's worth following them, their tamales are amazing!

I do not recall the prices but they offered two sizes, both under $10. The pat roast stew is Cajun inspired with a base made up by combining heavy cream and tomato puree. You can taste the complex layers of flavors within the stew. From the seafood blend (clams, shrimps, scallop) to the house-made Cajun seasoning. The stew also includes white rice. I personally am not a fan of white rice but the one thing I can tell you about it was that it was cooked right. Perfectly fluffy and moist, not dry. What was nice about the dish was the fact that the cream and tomato base did not curdle. Curdling usually happens when you boil milk/cream but because they use a low temperature/slow cooking technique this didn't occur which is nice. The stew did however lacked some heat or kick at the end of each spoonful. I am not one for heat but I did feel that it did miss the heat that most people look for when eating Cajun delicacies. However if you are a big fan of garlic, let it be known that there is plenty of it in this dish. The presentation was nice, the vendor booth was clean and service was pleasant. No store front yet but they will be popping up at local farmers market so follow them on twitter, facebook or any social media outlet out there if you are interested in trying out the Cajun theme food items or if you are merely interested in supporting small businesses. Overall good meal. The owner/operator Lucy Huynh did a good job seeing as how this was her first festival or shall I say her debut for her company. I must say though they have the cutest logo! An alligator in a chefs outfit and it looks like he had one too much shrimp and grits, ahaha. Super cute logo.
