Man....I Love Long Beach so that means I Love Shannon's on Pine. Most people don't realize how many options for Drinks, Food, and Music there are in this one location. You have a steak house, a Tiki Bar, and the Sports Pub where you can find me on Friday and Saturdays. Lets get into it. What I like is the very inviting atmosphere. There are very high ceilings and great lighting. That's important to me because I want to feel safe when I'm out. I can say that although its an pub or bar; its very clean and roomy. For me, its also important that the people there are diverse. The music is a reflection of the people. So you can hear Hip Hop, Reggaeton, Reggae, and throwback 90s and 2000s. Super fun. The drinks are drinks. Not to strong. Not too weak. But like I said, Drinks are Drinks. haha. I usually get the wings and fries. You cant go wrong with fries...but wings - another story. I can say that I like the wings. The best part is that I didn't have to wait a long time. My server was super nice and always stopped by to see if I was ok. Usually on Friday and Saturday nights they have a DJ playing music upstairs. I liked the mix when I was there. Primarily because its not the same thing all night. Its a great mix. The service was about a 4/10 since we were treated like we were being annoying for wanting a table. Security that steals your stuff and instigates fights I write this as I'm currently undergoing a ridiculous ordeal they put me through. New Years Eve night my lady and I were going to the Tiki Bar on the basement level. Security searches me and my heart sank, (my fault) I was in a rush and forgot to leave my pocket knife at home. The security guard that searched me was actually pretty cool. I told him I came straight from home and had my knife on me, cos I was trying to get a restraining order on my psycho roommate. But I stress to him that the knife is very important, it was wedding gift AND it has my freaking name etched into the blade (pretty hard to miss and pretty useless to anyone else without my weirdo name) He was cool and instead of turning me away, he said I could check it with them and just ask for it when I left, he'd be at the door all night (in my hast I forgot to get his name). WELL this was my mistake, because upon leaving the Tiki bar, he was nowhere to be seen... What then ensued was the most insane, ridiculous and insulting thing I've had to go through at a bar (I work in bars, clubs and venues as my 2nd job) Since my OG security guard wasn't at the front, I find another one and ask about my knife. They then make me wait until the club on the 2nd level and the bar close before they will help me. We wait patiently. They ask me who checked in my knife, of course I can't recall a name, then one security guard radios in that he has my knife HOORAY!!! They send me around the corner to the entrance of the 2nd story club. This security guard Dave or David proceeds to get ALL in my face. He is super heated that I, yes me, have the audacity to say he STOLE my knife. IDK where this is coming from, and it's a horrible trait in a security guard, they are supposed to DE-ESCALATE fights, NOT start them. He creepily says "If I had searched you, YOU'D know" and then proceeds to lecture me, on some stuff that didn't apply to me and tell me I should've gotten the name of the OG guard (GEE THANKS! Real helpful buddy) again IDK where this comes from, but w/e is going on in his life, it has nothing to do with me. I then have to go to the HEAD of security now and tell him WTH just happened. Of course he apologizes and agrees it's no way to act with the public but advises me to come back when they open in the morning. We return in the morning, but now staff can't help us, they advise us to call. Welp, you can't call them, no one answers the phones here! Rinse and repeat the "go in person, sorry comeback later, call again in the evening" routine like x2 more times and thats currently where I'm at. So long story short, come here if you want your shit stolen and the coked up club security to start a fight with you. read more

This is a horrible bar. DO NOT COME. The staff has no sense of customer service and they were extremely rude. I went to Shannon's for the Long Beach pub crawl and it was such a fun experience. There were people being rowdy or were way too drunk, but for those of us having a good time and being respectful, the staff treated us the same way back. I walked in and out of Shannon's like 5x throughout the night with no problems. Security did a great job with the longest lines to deal with and the boss + staff was incredible. The bartenders are always friendly and quick even though they have to serve at a really long bar. It seems more locals hang out here too. They play great music most of the time also. Came back here for their lunch sandwich specials. I like to mix it up between their hot Pastrami Sandwich and their Turkey Jalapeno Sandwich. I appreciate that they have a substitute option for fries with seasonal fruit. Don't get me wrong the fries are delicious but seasonal fries on a hot summer day in Downtown Long Beach just make the day more perfect in my opinion. I live in Apartments right next door so I'm very familiar with the AM Shift Bartenders and Manager Christian, (all of them are great people). Regardless if the staff get busy with all the people who work in the office buildings in Down Town Long Beach for the lunch specials, the staff and Christian always make sure every customer receives excellent hospitality no matter if it's a frequent customer that's local or a newcomer. The vibe is chill and the music on the touch tunes juke box makes it fun. Most people take turns playing their favorite songs and tell you why if you feel like chatting with the other customers while watching the sports games playing in the afternoon. But just an FYI: their sandwich lunch specials are from 11am to 2pm and all day Thursday. They have other great food on the menu too. I'm giving it 3 stars instead of 5 for the fact that me & my friend felt very uncomfortable with a regular bc the bartender mentioned it and was yelling at us while a male bartender was there and didn't tell the guy to calm down and or to stop harassing me. Security guard told me I'm not allowed to vape in there patio in a very rude way. I do not vape and was not vaping. I understand policy but i very much don't like getting told in a rude manner that I will basically get kicked out if I am vaping when I am not. There is a 2 hour limit on tables and we were asked to leave our table after two hours. I had 3 friends joining us for another table so they set up a table of 6. We talked to another table which wanted to join us to make it a table of 8 total and they set up two more chairs to do so which we really appreciated. After doing so, they did not uphold what they said. After complaining to the manager, he did not listen to anything I had to say and told me about their policies. If you want to uphold policies, 1 make sure the person you are trying to kick out is actually vaping, 2 make sure you don't tell somebody you can do something before you can actually do it. The server actually know us by face and remembers the last time we came to this plqce. We always sit at the usual spot and that's great because it's close to the screen. They have decent food. When I first came here in 2014 I had less than a mediocre night. Giving it another try four years later, I was reminded why I shouldn't come back and why you should try any of the other bars in the area. First, the bar service is horrible. The amount of staff placed at the bar is no way capable of handling a typical crowd on a Saturday night. You'll either be waiting for some time or watching two bartenders struggle to hand out drinks. The music being played reminded me of all the hits from just the year 2004! Like the Dj was stuck in that year for some reason. No one up stairs was dancing. It was funny watching him attempt to mix or lay down a track. The last and upmost horrible aspect here is the door service. At the main bar and especially around the corner where there is a club belonging in the same building of Shannon. At no point do I or my friends look "bummed out". In addition, we were promised entry for $10 just for the two bouncers to argue between them to then let us in or not. The lounge/club upstairs was horrible. To end a horrible night here, I accidentally dropped my card. At 1:51am they said they couldn't let me in to look for it. This place is super convenient to my place. Since Covid this place has been one of the most popular places on Pine. I like how they have the TVs set up on the outside so you can watch the games. I have watch some of the World Series games here and then some of the NBA finals. Not really the best place for social distancing if your into that. They do have barriers and try to separate people, but everybody seems to be on top of each other here. I like the ambience it seems to be cool. The food is pretty much typical bar food nothing really kind of stands out. Prices are decent and the service is pretty good for the most part. It definitely gets super crowded here on the weekends, which is why they have a hard time social distancing. But it's a pretty cool little spot. read more
