I stumbled upon this adorable cafe when I was running errands for my man. I was sent to pick up a few things at Bricker-Mincolla which is located just a couple doors down. After I finished there, I realized I over-payed my meter and figured I should stop into this beautiful Victorian style cafe. I ordered the turkey pastrami sandwich with no tomato and no mayo but with pesto... OMG! Seriously amazing! I also ordered an iced mocha (they offer soymilk and organic milk), which was probably not the best drink choice with the sandwich but seriously the BEST iced mocha I have ever had!! I'm not in the area too often, but I certainly will volunteer for Bricker-Mincolla errands more often solely to grab a sandwich and a mocha from this place! Lucky me, I managed to forget one of the two items we needed at Bricker-Mincolla and had to return the following day and got myself another iced mocha (a larger size this time, cause it was just so good)! Great Coffee. Great Service. Great sandwhiches ! The coffee is just perfect for me. Not bitter. Not too sweet. Not too creamy. Just perfect. The service is outstanding; very cute and friendly! I leave with a smile all the time and a giggle now and then. The owner makes the sausage herself using some 'secret' family recipe. I come here for lunch at least 2 times a week most weeks and only have good things to share about this cafe. There's always metered parking right up front and within walking distance if parked on cross streets, away from the freeway traffic merging onto 5th where it's located. The establishment itself looks like it used to be a house, which makes for a nice cafe. Plenty of seating inside and out (back porch). Their staff is friendly and helpful. I usually order take out before showing up, but will still get my food quickly on days I don't. Great iced tea. Fresh bread, greens, and deli meat makes for such amazing sandwiches and salads! I'm a big fan of the Roasted Turkey Breast sandwich with chipotle mayo or basil oil, which you can get cold or hot. Another favorite is the Avocado Salad with bacon or chicken... large portion and not whelming when I want just a salad for lunch. The quality and consistency makes me a regular. read more

I have had a turkey sandwich and the Caprese(cheese, tomatoe, pesto) which were both great and the perfect portion; not to filling, but satisfying. Great and simple German cafe. I had the Black Forrest Ham sandwhich. I like how you can order whole or half a sandwich, or have it served hot or cold. Their house coffee is excellent or as they call it house kaffee (I believe the German way of saying it). The coffe had a rich, strong but settle taste to it with a nice layer of crema on top (the thick golden layer of foam that naturally comes out on top of a good stong cup of coffee) that's how I can tell a good cup of coffee by the way. I went here for lunch almost every day for two months and love it. I cannot say enough good things about this cafe. My only complaint is that they are not open on the weekends! I was a little fussy at first when I initially went here because their vegetarian menu is pretty limited. They do have salads, but most of their sandwiches have meat. However, they began to offer a caprese sandwich shortly after I started going there and it is hands down one of the best sandwiches I have ever had. Their salads are amazing too. It is the dressing that makes them so special. I don't know what is in it or how they make it, but it is heavenly. One of my other favorites is the quinoa salad with lettuce and egg. Again, there are no words to describe how awesome I find this salad. It's so satisfying, most days this is all I have for lunch. I can have it 3-4 times a week and not get bored. I occasionally have hit this place up in the morning for breakfast and it is just as good. The food here is simple but delicious. Cute little German cafe with a friendly staff. They don't have a large menu or a complicated one at that, but it's still hard to decide. Everything is fresh and delicious so you can't go wrong. The first time I came I got the spicy sausage. The sausage was flavored with a variety of spices on a nice crusty baguette with jalapeño cheese. I only ordered a half sandwich and wished I ordered a full. On a few occasions they sold out of the spicy sausage so I ordered the black forest ham sandwich and that too was good. It said it came with Swiss cheese, but I'm almost positive I got mozzarella, which actually tasted even better! I also get chipotle oil on it, so much better than mayo. This is a great place to grab a cup of coffee (that isn't overpriced) and maybe something to eat. I came here to study though, and I was lucky to find that 1 of the few tables they had was empty. I thought the picture of the few little tables was only part of the cafe, but that's the whole thing. Tucked away on the edge of Jack London Square and West Oakland is this real gem of a spot! Everything is very reasonably priced and really well made. We even got sent a sample bowl of their pasta salad, which was REALLY tasty! It was fresh, herby, and subtly flavored. We bought sandwiches (which come with a free drink before noon!) and added fruit (a plastic cup full of delicious fresh cherries) for an extra dollar. An old home reincarnated into a cute, homey and convenient cafe (free parking before 8 woot!) I got half of the spicy sausage breakfast sandwich ($3.50) and it was great. Not mindblowingly good but I'd still go back for it. It was fresh, hot and wasn't overly cheesed or mayo-ed up. In fact, it felt light (my heart did not feel like it was going to stop after inhaling it). Stumbled into this place on accident the other day after a horrible experience at World Ground (every experience there is horrible). I was soooo pleasantly surprised by Autobahn, from the cute decor to the super friendly staff to their great food and drinks. The girl at the counter was so great, I wanted to ask her to be friends right on the spot. I really like how they have 1/2 sandwiches, because of course I will eat the whole thing, but I will feel too full after. I stopped by here onthe way into work. I was looking for a quick bite for breakfast and found this place on Yelp. No problems with parking or anything as was very charming housed within the old Victorian house. I ordered an iced tea (I'm not really a coffee person) and the breakfast sandwich. The tea was really good, not sure what it was but must have been whatever the house tea was. I just wish the cup sizes were larger. I ordered the sandwich with the portabella mushrooms instead of the ham. The sandwich was large, filling and delicious! The toasty French roll was the topper. Also grabbed a cookie before leaving. So, one of my co workers last year mentioned this cute little cafe not too far from where we work. Now in West Oakland, a cafe recommendation for lunch is like hitting triple 7's on a slot machine. We have very limited choices for lunch in the immediate area. Since that faithful day, I probably eat at Autobahn 2-3 times a week. I love their spicy sausage sandwich, the roasted turkey and cheese with basil olive oil and lately I have been eating their pesto pasta salad with tomatoes, red peppers and yummy cheese. Not to mention the homemade pepperoni and sausage is the best I've had in summer sausage and I've had the best summer sausage before. Wally is completely awesome and her food is so worth the mini walk over. And try her cookies....to simply die for!!! Thanks Wally. You make lunch so much easier. I used to pass this little cafe by, even though the cute Victorian exterior beckoned. It was my daughter who pulled over on our way to work one morning. Boy am I glad she did! The coffee is wonderful, and the Cafe Mocha tastes like it has real coco beans freshly ground. But what is even more wonderful is that the sandwiches are organic, freshly made on the spot and almost sinfully delicious! Either breakfast, breakfast sandwiches or lunchtime sandwiches ~They can make one for you in a jiffy! No time?(even though I've never waited over five minutes for anything) The pastry is quick and freshly made too! Why anyone would go to that 'other' coffee place is now beyond me! That's a good spicy sandwich! Downtown Oakland is not my area so Yelp to the rescue! This little cafe had good reviews and was nearby so I popped in for a taste. The cafe was small and had a nice Euro vibe to it. But I was there before lunch time so I had no problem finding a seat. The top of the menu boasted a 'Homemade Spicy Sausage' sammy. Oh yeah, I'm in. Delicious! Fresh ingredients accentuated the flavor of the sausage, which was very tasty. The cookies I had for dessert were a nice change of pace as well. To top it all off, the service was great. Lemme tell u how I came across this place. I was comin over the bay bridge into Oakland and this piece of shit I was driving (not mine) started to overheat. So I crawled this bitch all the way to the Broadway exit on 880 and ended up parking on 5th street just about 50 feet from the autobahn cafe. Immediately after I realized the cars fucked I said damn I need something to munch on so I walked in here and ordered a sandwich to go. At first I was kinda like damn I just paid $10.50 for a sandwich that's fucked up.... Only to later realize this was the greatest fuckin sandwich I've had in a long time. It was the special of the day I think turkey pastrami with tomato avocado chipotle aioli and probably some other shit, all on a nice loaf of hard shell, soft core San Franciscan sourdough.
