Kibbeh is my benchmark for rating Middle Eastern restaurants and I have to say hands down this has been the best kibbeh I've found in Houston. Made fresh to order ( never accept kibbeh that is pre-made and reheated for you ). Not only is it fresh made to order, the shell was fried to perfection, light and crispy and the filling was divine, juicy well seasoned with fresh herbs and pine nuts. Once I saw how well the kibbeh was made I was very excited to try their falafel because I knew it wouldn't be the dry hockey puck I've experienced at other places. My first visit here was great! Really enjoyed the patio's breezes hanging with friends in a chill environment where the staff was very attentive. It started to poor down so we were able to move to the covered patio and they brought down the heavy plastic 'windows' which still allowed for good airflow. The food is delicious - they have the best chicken shawarma sandwiches that i have had in Houston and super authentic garlic paste that mediterranean people love and i hope everybody else too! My sister was craving some shawarma so i recommended we come here since i have had their food before and loved it. However, i don't eat gluten anymore so I had the shawarma platter while she had the sandwich. The food was really good - although the rice needs some improvement - it wasn't very fresh and a little bit too oily. I think as mediterranean people we pride ourselves for being healthy so we should also deliver healthy rice in such an authentic restaurant. The orange juice was super fresh and yummy! Late night eats as always...for takeout First off, I wanted to commend the waitress and I believe the owner who greeted me instantly and made sure I was more than satisfied. They offered to assist immediately if I needed anything as well as made sure everything was fine while waiting for my food. Upon leaving, the owner continued on to make sure I didn't need anything else and wished to see me again. Very homey I might say. The atmosphere itself is bit small and crowded. The day I went, a family took almost the whole front of the restaurant and everyone else sat outside the patio. Upon waiting for my food, you'd could notice that the restaurant at some usual customers. I did feel bad for the waitress who appeared to manage everything inside and with all the payments...but man she did a great job. I made a small adjustment on my order and she was quick to fix it...kudos. Now the food. Man I really wanted to enjoy everything l, but maybe it just was because I took takeout. Now one thing that I'd say was of satisfaction was the Chicken Gyro. This was the thing I had changed...originally I had chosen the chicken Shawarma, but wanted the gyro breading instead!!! Great choice to switch. Fries were your average fries, nothing exciting. Also got the shawarma mix plate to share not really not what to expect, but just by the picture it looked decent. Dropped by at lunchtime to try this place out as it was right next door and found an awesome little place for lunch. My buddy and I both got the chicken shawarma meal option with a salad and hummus on the side and it was all fantastic. Chicken was well seasoned, salad side was fragrant, the garlic yogurt dip was great and the hummus was on point, making for an altogether delicious, relatively healthy lunch. On top of that, the owner was incredibly nice. My friend and I hung around after eating to just chat as we had some extra time, and the owner was nice enough to bring us out some hot tea, free of charge. I regret not being able to try the hookah but what the gentlemen who were there were smoking smelled fantastic. Business may be slow now, but if the word gets out, that may not last. The gyro was delish! My daughter loves their rice pilaf and gyro meat. Their bread is as thin as it will get around here. This place may not be much to look at, but the plate of food they brought out was absolutely lovely. We started with Fried Cauliflower which comes with a very garlicky sauce. Great, cheap joint for a late night Mediterranean fix. We tried the sampler appetizer and it was really good. Good proportions and everything was fresh. Also checked out the Shwarma Grill salad with chicken added and it was upto the mark. Even though we were really late to arrive there (I'm talking about 10:45pm), everything was served with a friendly smile. Ate at dinner service on 31 August 2019 My husband and I recently moved back to this side of town and decided to try Shawarma Grill in hopes of finding good food on this side of town. However we were greatly disappointed. With each step in my hopes began to sink. From spelling errors in the menu, with foods so common in Middle Eastern and Mediterranean misspelled such as hummus (yes it is spelled with "U" not "O") and the beginning part of each line in the menu being cut off. The environment was quite dilapidated, which I can tolerate so long as the place maintains a sense of cleanliness and quality food, sadly cleanliness and basic maintenance did not seem high on their list. In regards to the food we ordered 3 of their "homemade" lemonades, a water with lemon, 2 chicken shawarmas, a bowl of hummus, a side of tabbouleh, and fries and chicken strips for our son. Our drinks were brought out and quickly my expectations for this place kept plummeting. Homemade lemonade contains pulp from the lemons that were squeezed and does not contain the yellow dye that turns the lemonade the same color as the lemonade mixes you buy next to the koolaid. The flavor of the mix they attempted to pass off as homemade did not contain the same cooling citrus flavor that fresh squeezed lemons do. While waiting for our food I decided to check out their display for desserts and upon seeing they were store bought and still in the same containers you would buy from the grocery store's bakery decided against getting any. Next came the hummus and pita bread. I know that in order to make pita one must have a specially designed oven and as such do not hold it against many restraunts from buying their pita else where, in fact my husband and I buy the same pita from our grocer about once a week. However the hummus was absolutely abysmal. Hummus should not be that thin and watery. It should have flavor and light up one's mouth. This hummus was terribly bland and so thin it was of the same constancy of heavy cream used for coffee. As I am not overly fond of tabbouleh I did not venture to try their's however according to my husband who was bore and raised in Lebanon it was terrible. As for the chicken shawarmas they were just as bland and tasteless as the hummus. And our son who loves chicken and fries would barely touch his as he did not even like the flavor of them. I do not know what the "chef" in Shawarma Grill and Hookah is doing whether he has never tasted proper Mediterranean/Middle Eastern food or simply has no taste buds, but that was not cooking. And I was not even willing to brave the Turkish Coffee (a beverage I quite enjoy) nor the hookah when I could make both myself within the comfort of my own home for a fraction of the price and where I know the end product would be of quality. We will never return and I would advise anyone else to go to Barbar, Mary'z, or even Fadi's for all of them surpass the hideous food within this establishment. read more

The food was cheap in price but rich in quality! Had a chicken shawarma and fries. Fries were cooked and seasoned to perfection. The hookah was a great price and flavorful. Customer service was superb! We were well taken care of. The young gentleman there was so nice and his mannerism was amazing! The restaurant was clean, and the staff made sure to clean immediately after patrons left. We dined outside and the night breeze and light rainfall felt great. Came here for lunch today. The food was delicious and fresh. We had the spicy hummus and it was amazing with a little kick. Also ordered the Turkish Adana wrap with some tahini sauce. We only order from Shawarma Grill when we want Mediterranean food. Everything we have ever tried is delicious and they are very fast. The Chicken Shawarma, Lamb Gyro and Mediterranean salad are our favorites along with the chocolate cake. Hummus is awesome and the pizza excellent. I highly recommend trying it out.
