I LOVE this place!!! I came in today exhausted from work. The staff was so cheery, that I left perked up. I ordered the last pita, and the staff cheered that I got it :) Thank you! The food is consistently fantastic. I like the falafel salad. It takes a bit of time, since the falafel is freshly cooked, but worth it. I definitely recommend the garlic spread. I could put it on everything! Everyone I've taken to this place had also loved it. Chicken and lamb are also options. Trying rice pudding for the first time, also fantastic. Disclaimer I have had some amazing shawarma in my lifetime so I try not to be snobbish when eating it here in the states. But this shawarma was terrible. This place is geared to people who have never had authentic shawarma but are familiar with quick Mediterranean dishes. The chicken which was dry was not shaved off a spit and instead was in containers, I mean seriously can you even call it a shawarma at this point. It was served inside of a cold stale pita that had no flavor. The toppings and even hummus lacked flavor and consistency. Myself and my friend could not even finish our dishes it tasted so bad. Hopefully some decent shawarma will come to the area soon but this is not it. Even with the reasonable price point I will not be back. read more

First time here - had the chicken shawarma. It was awesome. Chicken done just right and the freshest toppings. Falafel are perfectly fried and just the right amount of tahini for dipping. The baba Ghanoush is nice and smoky and the hummus has a great combination of lemon, garlic and tahini. The place is clean and inviting and the food hot and fresh. I like Shawarma Guys, but to like it you have to understand what it is. I wouldn't say that if I am in the mood for authentic shawarma that this is the place I go to. But I like what they have to offer, I like the convenience, and I like the price. This is no different than the fact that Chipotle, Taco Bell, and authentic Mexican restaurants all have their place in the market and serve different purposes but are not comparable. I would definitely check them out, as they are a great alternative for "fast food". read more

They make their bread in house and it taste really good. We ordered chicken shawarma sandwich, falafel sandwich, bowl of beef shawarma and kibbe. HOLY CRAP SHAWARMA GUYS this is some good eatin! I "Yelp" quite often (to find places to eat way more often than I write reviews about those places I eat) and up until tonight, I had no knowledge of this heavenly restaurant. I couldn't figure out how this place had so many reviews/stars and I had never crossed their path. Well... They have only been open for three weeks that's how. THREE WEEKS and 23 reviews with 4.5 stars?!? I am def not a connoisseur of Meditteranean cuisine, so if I was the only review, you could take it with a grain of salt. But since I'm not the only review, pay attention :) It's a Chipotle style restaurant so you can customize till your hearts content. The hummus, the chicken and the crazy good stand out baba ghanoush (I had to google the spelling). Try it all. But don't bypass the baba ghanoush. They smoke the eggplant in house and it is ahhhhhmazing? Thanks for being so patient with me and letting me sample your wares before placing my order. I will be back!!! I was seriously craving swarmas and stumbled across this little gem. Immediately upon entry I was greated warmly and the staff gave me a walkthrough of all the toppings and how to build a proper swarma. Super fast, the guy behind the counter is super nice. The food always seems to be fresh. I kind of wish they were open for breakfast too (they open at 10 am). We've become regulars here. Great food at good prices. Chicken and beef/lamb are both very good. Shawarma guys doesn't necessarily have the breadth of offerings that other Mediterranean-ish fast casual places have, but everything they do they do well. Thank god this place has arrived. I was getting really tired of all the food options around the Manchester Lakes/Kingstowne area. If you are not familiar with the area- it's pretty much chain restaurant central. Shawarma Guys is located in the Shoppers shopping center next to Jimmy Johns. I opted for the beef/lamb shawarma bowl and pretty much added every topping they had. My bowl was overflowing at the end. Unlike other shawarma places they don't shave the meat off the spinning skewer of meat but they scoop it out of a warmer. Seeing that gave me second thoughts but luckily I was worried for no reason. Typically from my prior experience the beef/lamb combo is typically dry but that's not the case here. The rice bowl was excellent which consisted of a bunch of ingredients. All of the ingredients were fresh and complimented well with the bowl overall. On the day I visited the baba ghannoush was extremely salty. I am not sure if others have had the same experience but I don't think I will be getting that topping again in the future. The pricing for this place is also totally worth it- you get a good amount of food for a low price. This will definitely be a place I will be frequently often when I'm feeling lazy. read more

Summation of my review: Food, 4 stars. Service, 0. I came here a few weeks ago, based on the good reviews Yelp had to offer. I came in at a late lunch time (around 2:30 or 3), so naturally, they were empty. There was one guy behind the counter, who greeted us in a friendly enough way when we came in. Beyond that, we received no friendliness. I ordered a chicken shawarma pita pocket; after taking as slow as he could to cut the pita, the worker came back to the counter and pointed to the spreads and toppings in front of him, and asked "so what do you want?" Assuming he was putting everything in the pita first, and would shave the chicken in afterwards (like many places do), I started to list them. After I said the sauces, though, he walked away from me without a word, even though he knew I was still talking. He gave no indication that he needed to heat the chicken and the sauces together in a small oven, and would come back for my other toppings. While he stood around, waiting for my pita to heat, he could have begun my partner's sandwich--instead, he decided to move as slowly as possible, using whatever lazy customer service he wanted. In total, it probably took about 15 minutes from us walking in for him to make our sandwiches, which is far too long for a place that advertises as being a quick lunch spot, particularly when there is NO ONE ELSE in the entire establishment. This, combined with his horrendously lazy and rude customer service (we received no "thank you" or "goodbye," only grunts and one-word answers) made the experience totally unpleasant. The food was very good. Sadly, it was not good enough to make up for a worker who clearly couldn't care about our business. I will not be back. read more

Brand new, Mediterranean/middle eastern restaurant with a modern flair! We had the hummus appetizer, chicken shawarma bowl with couscous and the steak shawarma sandwich. I would definitely give the food at Shawarma Guys 4 stars. I ordered the chicken shawarma pita, and it was delicious. I had hummus, baba ganoush, extra of the garlic sauce (stung my mouth but also totally worth it), olives, chick peas and couscous. The pita could have been a little more flavorful and little less soft, but overall the meal had great taste. I also ordered the baklava. It came with three pieces: a long piece and two small, round pieces. The long piece was a little dense and dry, but the smaller pieces were great. Where this place dropped down to 3 stars is the service. The guy that served my girlfriend and me was not friendly in the least. He said hi when we first walked in, but was flat and unresponsive after that. He asked my girlfriend what she wanted on her pita, and while she was telling him, he walked away, and she had to repeat her toppings to him when he came back. He didn't say anything to me while I was paying except to ask me if it was for there or to-go. Even then, he didn't say or do anything, like put the food on the dining-in trays. So, I am not sure why the question. After we finished dining, he walked away without the expected "Thank you" or "Enjoy your meal". When we finished eating and were walking out, he did not say thank you or goodbye. Mind you, the restaurant was empty; we were the only people eating in there. There had only been two other people who had ordered and taken their food to-go while we were there. He was not swamped with work and customers to interact with, so he could have easily mustered a simple thank you. He was obviously bored and would have preferred to continue standing around than do his job. I really dislike eating at places where the employees make me feel like I'm intruding on their time by ordering food. For that reason, I doubt I'll be going back to Shawarma Guys considering how many other great shawarma places there are in the DMV. When the food at a place is good but does not stand far above the other "pretty good" places, the service is what will determine whether I return or not. read more

If you're in the area this is a definite place to stop. I stopped in thinking I was going to have a shawarma, then I was asked if I wanted it as a wrap, sandwich, salad or on rice.... mind blown. I had it over rice, the quantity was more than generous. The flavors meld together quite well. You have your choice of over 18 toppings! I think there is enough in the rice bowl for two servings, unless your up for a real feasting challenge! read more

Attended the "Under New Management" Open House yesterday. It was very generous to offer all patrons free food and drinks. The food was very tasty, and, since I'm new to Mediterranean cuisine, was glad they offered a wide variety of food choices to taste. I really liked the garlic hummus & mini pita bread gyros, while my kids enjoyed the chicken shawarma. I work fairly close by and will definitely continue my interest in broadening my Med food choices. :-) read more

Highly recommended! We tried out the chicken & beef/lamb combo shawarma bowls, and wow, they were great. Wife did chicken shawarma with garlic sauce, and I did the combo with tahini. The sides / toppings were plentiful, and fantastic; do not pass up the pickled veggie options! And to top it all off, the service was great. They threw in a free turkish chocolate pudding 'just because', which was also to die for. Every time I go to NYC I have to get chicken and rice from a street cart. The food here is not as greasy but definitely satisfies the shawarma craving. They have lots of toppings to choose from, make sure you get lots of hummus and garlic. All of the staff is friendly and helpful.
