This used to be one of my favorite places to eat in Kingstowne. At one point I was going almost daily. I moved a little further away and don't get to that side of town as often anymore, but anytime someone asks me for a good shawarma place I always recommended these guys. I don't know if they changed management recently, but I ventured over there a few days ago and from the moment I walked in the reception seemed very chilly. When being asked what I wanted the guy(who I assume to be the manager now) seemed very uninterested in my answer and more like "just hurry up and tell me what you want". There were no smiles or small talk or anything warm and inviting. I ordered the chicken shawarma bowl, and the chicken seemed very dry. When I got ready to tell him what I wanted on it he seemed to hurry me along even though there was no one in line after me waiting. No eye contact was ever made. No "thank you" for stopping by. Nothing of the sort. The portions seemed skimpy and when I asked for another spoonful of something he seemed annoyed. I stopped by last night after work to get something for dinner since I didn't want to cook. I ordered chicken and Beef/Lamb Shawarma platter with the traditional toppings, and hummus on the side. I've had it before but it was my 7 year old son's first time eating it. he loved it mind you he is a very picky eater but he told me that he loved it more than chipotle. the meat was juicy plus the price was very affordable. We just had quite possibly the best middle eastern food I've ever had in my life. Since moving here from Chicago it's been hard finding the right healthy middle eastern and today we stumbled upon this hidden gem! The food was so fresh, so tasty, so fast casual but yet traditional and totally affordable. To say this place and the food was anything short of amazing wouldn't even do it justice. I was also greeted promptly and with a good attitude. Very friendly people! I ordered a shawarma salad with a ton of toppings like garlic sauce and hummus and it was very flavorful. Absolutely delicious food. Healthy choices. I always opt for the brown rice and chicken shawarma bowl which is fabulous. The staff is always super friendly and always gives me new things to sample. You have got to try the garlic sauce!!! And the little pickled purple radishes Aaahhhhmazing. They have messed up on my order before but when I let them know they corrected RIGHT AWAY. I would say quality of the food is good but quantity is very little. I had the chicken shawarma wrap but the wrap was the size of a small tortilla! I don't know if that was done by purpose to limit stuffing it or some other idiotic reason. The reason Cava and other restaurants like that are successful because they don't worry about quantity. Too bad this could've easily been a Cava beater since there is no Cava close by other than duke street...opportunity lost! I ordered lunch from them recently on Grubhub. The meal was excellent. I got the beef/lamb shawarma bowl ($9.99), a mango lassi ($1.99), and a tabbouleh salad ($5.99). Sales tax was $1.08, the delivery fee was $4.99, the service fee was $0.90, and the tip for the driver was $4.99. The delivery and service fees were completely unnecessary. These are junk fees for no additional service rendered. I do not know if these fees are from the restaurant or from Grubhub. The restaurant does not bear the cost of delivery; this is entirely borne by the driver. I do not mind paying a tip to the driver, but I should not have to pay unnecessary fees.
