Beef and Lamb Pita with Side Greek Salad Combo

Delicious food and the owner was lovely. Highly recommend- the lamb pita was amazing and the meat was fresh. Very good.

The portion size is pretty small for what you pay for. This platter costs around 23 dollars.

Decent Schwarma with pretty good meat, mediocre tzatziki, and excellent "Schwarma sauce." I got the lamb and beef wrap. At $8, the price is quite agressive. The wrap is a good lunch portion but not overstuffed. The meat was probably a small handful, not a ton. It was savoury and flavorful with a nice juicy tender bite. The pita wrap was a bit dry/chalky grinding between my teeth but was crisp and just oily enough on the exterior. The tzatziki was goopy and just not very aromatic. Mostly tasted like light sour cream. Toppings were fresh and crisp.

Overall the food was pretty good. We decided to eat in our car right in front of the restaurant. In my opinion the rice needed a little bit more flavor but it was still good and the chicken was perfect. Everything is made to order so it's nice and fresh.

Ordered from GrubHub. Beef Shawarma, Chicken Shawarma, Chicken Kabob, falafel, Greek Salad, and humus were excellent.

Terrible delivery practices. Uses grubhub but doesn't actually have drivers on hand to deliver food. Food arrived hours late as result.

I've been here a few times and plan to keep coming back! Great shawarma and fries. I'd highly recommend the lamb. Open late on the weekends.

Great Shawarma place. The food is great and not too heavy on the pocket. The owner is a nice guy who always greets you with a smile.

I love when this happens…read more With no agenda, we ended up in West Chester PA (vs Westchester NY.) A cute town with an inordinate number of restaurants, we peered into windows and read menus. "The Mediterranean Restaurant" sparked interest. Infusing Lebanese and Italian cuisines, they garnered great reviews. Also BYOB. After running to Carlinos for a bottle of red, we took our chances at Mediterranean without a reservation. (Do indeed make one if you come for dinner.) I chatted with the couple across from us. "This is the best restaurant in West Chester," the fellow said. They live here and have been to them all. We started with what's called a Maza Platter: customer's choice of four appetizers. I selected feta & olives, tabouli, hummus and baba ghanoush. Delish!! (Unlike my husband, I wasn't a fan of feta, but this feta was infinitely better than anything I've had before.) The spreads are made inhouse. The cheese isn't. T raved about the lamb kabob, which was likely grilled. I in turn recommend their falafel encrusted chicken. Chef isn't afraid to spice things up and everything was noticeably fresh. Even the sides were stand-out. The aforementioned couple recommended Mediteranean's apple pie for dessert, a seemingly odd choice. They said it's baked in the restaurant's adjoining bakery. Since they ran out of ice cream -- what's pie if it's not a la mode?! -- T and I shared baklava. Two thumbs up. Homemade, not saturated in syrup. I'd like to give a shoutout to Jason, our delightful and efficient server. He does the restaurant proud. Note that Mediterranean has been in West Chester for 29 years. (That's a virtual lifetime in the restaurant world!) Prices we thought reasonable, and portions generous.

Let me start out by saying that the place itself is not much to look at and the furniture could use an update. It's decorated nicely inside. The service was ok the night we went and it's usually better. They had a huge birthday party (about 15 people) that took a lot of their time. However, the reason to come here is the awesome food. They bring you out three dips and pita for dipping. Each one if fantastic. For my meal I started with the salad topped with Mohammed's spiced vinaigrette. The dressing is so good. For my main I got the Egyptian Flounder with veggies and couscous. It came with a side of tahini to put on top if you like to. The Flounder was moist and delicious. The veggies and couscous were also very good. The portion size is incredible. The attached picture shows my meal, WHEN I WAS FULL AND MY MEAL WAS FINISHED. It came with two big flounder fillets. My wife got the crab bisque as a starter and scallops with lobster sauce for her main. I was able to try both since we had so many leftovers. The crab bisque is probably the best I've ever eaten. My daughter got the salad as well and the lamb stew which she really enjoyed.

From the outside, it doesn't look like much; in fact, it looks like a bit of a dive from outside. But when you walk in, you are transported. The design of the restaurant is so special - community tables, pillows, tapestries, waterfall features, tiles, and belly dancing. The food was a little inconsistent. We shared many dishes: Bastilla (baked layers of filo dough, eggs, chicken, almonds, sprinkled with cinnamon and powdered sugar); hummus (chickpeas, tahini, crushed garlic, lemon juice, sprinkled with paprika and olive oil, served with pita bread); Spanakopita; salad trio (eggplant salad, cucumber and tomato salad, and carrot salad); lamb tagine (stew of lamb, onions, and roasted peppers topped with honey and served with rice); Moroccan chicken with harissa cumin sauce; mujaddara (cracked bulgur wheat cooked with lentils and caramelized onions); and mint tea. I wish they didn't serve bottled waters, and the food was mostly good but not the most consistent. Our mujaddara wasn't served with the yogurt sauce listed on the menu, and the lamb with the tagine was incredibly fatty, making some of it inedible. The mint tea was really really really sweet - like syrup! I also wish the bastilla had a little less powdered sugar (I like on the dish, but it was A LOT of powdered sugar), and it was quite dry. But the eggplant salad, carrot salad, hummus, and mujaddara (even without the yogurt sauce) were great. I would happily have eaten just those dishes. They were busy - it's a popular place - but service was also a challenge. It took us almost a half hour to get the check and pay. I had to ask for the bill twice and then it still took a while to get it, for it to get picked up, and for it to come back to us. It's pretty bad if I'm considering walking up to the bar to get the check and pay. I loved the ambiance and the character. I loved that you can't tell how amazing it's going to be inside when you see the outside of the building - it's a surprise for sure. Our experience was that the food was a bit inconsistent, but it certainly was a fun meal.
