The Plano location has thieves working for them. I took my 10-yr old son to eat there as we both wanted Alaskan Crab. We thought we had a great repour with our server. I used a credit card I rarely ever use and if so only at self checkout at Sam's Club (not sure why I even chose that card this round) She ran my card and within 1-2 minutes I had my bill back. Tipped her 20% and I thought all was well. 12 hours later I had fraudulent charges over $2000 charged to my account. One to a water park here in Texas and a retail store. I called the corporate and as I was explaining the situation to the person I was referred to, she cut me off mid sentence and transferred me to the CEO/Owner (I'm assuming), named Dallas. He didn't give me the time of day to speak and explain the situation as his establishment was the ONLY place to handle my credit card in many many months. He yelled at me, berated me, told me I could not prove anything and I was slandering them. Slander is if something didn't really happen. He threatened an attorney on me and in the end hung up on me. That's their customer service to a problem and a thief in their establishment. There are so many choices in great restaurants in the Dallas area, I obviously would not recommend one that they won't even bother to truly investigate what happened let alone listen to you, where you credit card can be compromised, where you can not have a civilized conversation with anyone who works for them, short of the general manager who worked there, she listened but couldn't do much. I've been here many times over the years. They were one of the first In the area to have seasoned boiled seafood. Good stuff. Tonight I was disrespected I went tonight since they were open until 1am. I went at 9 pm. There were less than 5 tables when I arrived due to it being Monday and 9pm. I ordered and appetizer of oysters and a drink. Everything was great. When I ordered my entree while eating my appetizer I ordered what they call the mvp, not cheap. By then there were three other tables in this large restaurant, meaning my food should come fairly quick. Once I finish my appetizer while watching the cowboys, I wonder where my food is at. I watch my waiter, who is also the bartender, talk to a man at the bar who already got his food for a good 15-20 min. They were talking about working out. I eat fast but didn't make it through my crab leg cluster before they were cold or before I was out of butter. I walked into the kitchen by 2 feet since my server was too busy for me. The manager, who I was unable to identify up to that point, appeared out of nowhere and told me I couldn't to that. I gave him my complaints and all he said was sorry. Then I left with my cold crab legs. I wasn't even there for an hour after all that. Am I old school expecting good service and hot food? Btw. I still have a 15% even though I usually do 20% plus. Had to post a 5 star review because it should be rated higher on Yelp. We looked for a crab shack for father's day weekend, and thankfully from a previous experience, we chose Shell Shack! It was so good we came 2 days in a row. The crawfish and crab are cooked perfectly! Seasoning was amazing! Service was great! Will come back and definitely recommend. Not a fan. Ordered food to go several hours prior to closing. Dungeness crab had lots of weird brown spots on the meat, I was grossed out. Kitchen sink seasoning was not tasty. It was separated into a greasy oil and chunks of ooze. Potatoes could have been cooked longer. Corn was fine. I will not return unless I'm with someone else that wants to go here. Great meal here sitting outside on the patio. We came here for my daughters birthday. My daughter's favorite about Shell Shack... "they were nice to me". My wife's favorite... "the funnel cake fries with carmel sauce and powered sugar" that they brought for the birthday. My favorite, the gumbo. Would be a plus if they also offered a seafood gumbo. The blue cheese lettuce wedge was good but mediocre compared to standard. Saw many customers ordering crab and seafood spreads. We'll have to come back to try this specialty. read more

Really disappointed in Shell Shack. I really wanted to branch out and try a new seafood boil place and it did not impress. First, it's so expensive! I don't understand these prices. Second, my crab and egg was cold! Egg seemed microwaved - hot on the outside, cold on the inside! Crab claws were cold - refrigerated cold. I've eaten enough crab to know if it's been cold sitting out or from the fridge. Third, why is it soooo salty?? Fourth, the drinks are super watered down! Ordered 2 and tasted like juice! I ordered house side salad (sounds like something easy to not mess up, right?) it was very lackluster to say the least. Really just lettuce with a few cut up Roma's slices. We have been eating here for a long time and on May 5th we came in and was very disappointed the food was terrible...we ordered it and took it home because they don't care much for customer service anymore... so sad. i tried calling them and no one would answer the phone.. when i did get a hold of someone I was told that they no longer affiliate with them.. Great seafood with great service! The shrimp was pretty big compared to most places I've been to. Their kitchen sink seasoning is the way to go. The medium spice level had the perfect kick to it. And if you're looking for a healthy side to balance it all out, I highly recommend getting their steamed broccoli. It's not your normal steamed broccoli... they season it and squeeze lemon juice all over it and it's delicious! Yes, it may be a bit pricey, but you get quality seafood for the price! And they have great customer service which I've found is not as easy to come by nowadays. Overall great place and would absolutely go back! read more

Shell shack used to be a staple for us. We stopped going because we don't live very close to it, but decided to stop in today as we ran some errands in the area. The service is amazing - zero complaints there. But the food was extremely disappointing. The mussels we ordered were way over boiled and the texture was super grainy/gritty. The calamari was also way over fried and had no flavor. The best thing we ate was the fried shrimp platter, but even that's changed too. Really wanted to eat here tonight. Start by saying they are understaffed for the amount of business they are doing on a Saturday night. Sat at the bar to place a to-go order. Nice female bartender was furiously making drinks and said she'd be with me in a sec. Had several slips on the bar of drink orders waiting. Tall bearded male bartender barrels behind the bar and snaps at her that she "needs to focus." Felt bad for her. He takes my order but says he can't take payment from me, because the kitchen is backed up. Says the food will take 15 minutes when the order goes in. After 20 minutes of no updates and guy sniping at the female bartender, I ask if my order has gone in yet. He says it hasn't and leaves to deliver a drink. I tell the female bartender that I'll come back when the crowd dies down. Tall guy chases me down once I'm outside and says if I'm leaving, he needs to be the one I tell. Might try them again when they are less busy. read more
