Let's set the scene: I'm stuck at a company training with no restaurant/cafe nearby. I have my lunch but forgot my fork. I see a highly rated independent coffee shop about a mile away. Worth the walk-- so off I go. Pros: The cappuccino was made very well! Nice selection of beans (full-bodied and low acidity) and served piping hot. I ordered my drink, asked for a fork, and took a seat at one of the many empty tables. The place was dead-- maybe two other people inside. The barista was nice enough, not chatty or particularly charming, but competent. Cons: the owner/manager walks in. She gives me a sour look because I am eating my own food. Clearly, she missed the specialty coffee drink I also bought. After that, she walks to the barista and they talk about me not 20 feet away! What the heck? This is so inappropriate. I felt completely unwelcome. It sucks for them, because I am in charge of finding a new coffee seller for our office (1000+ employees) and was considering their name. Not anymore. I'm not interested in contracting with people that make it a point to make others feel bad. Karma is a b*. Enjoy your empty cafe. read more

Listen I came here on 5/23/20 for a late lunch option. I literally just wanted a basic grilled cheese and this place popped up on my search. However I saw they do different types of grilled cheese and so I decided not to be basic. They were about to close in 20 minutes and I was able to do a mobile order for a Beef Brisket Grilled Cheese. We were in the area for haircut appointments and stumbled on this place yesterday. Everything we ordered was amazing! We order The M.O.S.T sandwich with their tomato soup, Tokyo tea and Daytona Tea. This is a very pleasant, cozy and pretty coffee house! The staff is really friendly and coffee is very good. Have not tried any food yet, but that is something I would love to try on my next visit. The ambience is so good, I get a lot of work done while sitting on those comfortable chairs. The place is inspiring and the beauty of the plants and racing car posters and theme adds a whole lot of character to the place. Definitely returning here. read more

I stayed in the Greens hotel next door and stumbled over her for coffee and a bite to eat. I will pretty much order anything that has Lavender in it... so I got the Lavender Latte... Ohhh Emmm Geee best coffee ever! It had Lavender Crystals in the foam. Needless to say I drank every last drop. Also had the veggie breakfast sandwich and it was also to die for. Such a great coffee shop! The coffee is delicious, I love when coffee shops have unique lattes. I got the blackberry latte, my absolute new favorite. My husband got The Grand Prix. Which has four shots and it was still delicious. The manager is so personable and really makes sure everything is perfect. They have a nice selection of grilled cheeses that we will be back to try. Very nice place with friendly staff. As I walked through the door, the barista immediately notice me and nicely ask if I was needing to use the restroom as she notice I was looking around. Recently started a job near Shift, and what a delightful little shop it is. Ok, not exactly little.......it's airy and spacious, a great space to meet and chat with friends. Plus they have a cute little semi-outdoor seating area as well. Staff are always friendly and fast. Coffee drinks are wonderful and they have a really unique selection of signature drinks. I've tried a few and so far everything has been awesome. Great folks and great coffee, AND they have a grilled cheese bar in there as well. I haven't tried that yet, but I can't wait to! read more

We tried the Bay Area Brisket Sandwich and the Del Paso Del Sol (with carnitas, egg, avocado and cheeses). Both are superb tasting. Also the tomato soup is tasty. Laid back inside, music, and seat yourself. Hard to spot from outside since it looks rather unoccupied from front. The lavender latte (not listed on menu) is wonderful. We recently moved to the Woodlake neighborhood and were truly hoping we could find a local coffee shop that wasn't Starbucks. And we did! A few things that I really like about Shift Coffee: - They have the BEST breakfast sandwiches. Like I had two bites of my sandwich and immediately texted my husband to tell him how good it was. - Very creative drinks. They have your standard coffee shop options, while also a variety of drinks you won't find on other Sacramento coffee menus. - It has a totally original decor. While every other coffee shop is going for the minimalist eco look with wood finishes and glass, Shift has motorcycles and cool shit on their walls to look at while you're waiting for your coffee. Things to note: - It is easy to pass on Del Paso Blvd if you aren't looking for it. However, they have a sign and a motorcycle out front to help you find it. - Customer service is typical for a local coffee shop. They will chat with you if you start the conversation, but don't initiate conversation. It happens everywhere. I highly recommend Shift Coffee. The "Capital Sunrise" --Bacon, eggs, spinach, jalapeño, sharp cheddar, on slicing-- caught my eye during a brainfart. I planned ahead of time on yelp because the last time I came here, I had gotten sidetracked and forgot what sandwich I wanted to order (the 'Kitchen Sink'-- bacon, eggs, 3-berry jam, Havarti, and cheddar cheeses). It's super neat that they offer breakfast sandwiches ALL DAY. So, yeah. Finally, this time, I was able to order the ever-elusive "The Kitchen Sink." The sandwich was divine. The blonde short haired lady was very unfriendly and rude when we asked for her to fill the water jar and it took a long time for her to do so. For food, the Tomato soup was good, grilled cheese is way overpriced but good. Our favorite grilled cheese was " The MOST" a veggie grilled cheese. If you don't mind bad customer service and are willing to pay $10+ minimum for a grilled cheese than you should try it for the experience. read more
